      @@lovespeaks777 What arguments? Ontological? Moral?
Most of these arguments are just some kind of idealism. The ontological argument is an example, because the existence of a 'perfect' idea does not mean the existence of a 'perfect' thing in the material world. An idea NEVER creates a substance, it is the substance that, in itself, creates the idea.
Furthermore, the “existence of God” is not my point. My criticism goes to the idea that you can prove that Christianity is the truth, when in fact you can't without necessarily using Christian sources, and, as I said, trying to prove that in your video, you use the "petitio principii" fallacy, where the aim is to demonstrate the truth in the conclusion of the argument, assuming that this same conclusion is true and employing this assumption in one of the premises.

@@timidtlkMany non-Christian sources say Jesus died under the hands of the Romans, was buried in a private tomb, the tomb was empty, and Jesus’ followers believed they had seen Him risen after 3 days. Doesn’t mean you have to believe this, but the best explanation for the empty tomb and Jesus’ post mortem appearances is that He did raise from the dead.
Also, to say we can’t prove anything about God or Jesus by using the Bible doesn’t make any sense. If we have written sources about an event that are close to the time period of its occurrence, why wouldn’t we consider them?

You don't need a magical suicide trick to make a semitic deity no longer want to torture you when you die.
Suicide, in that, after yahweh's entrapment in Eden, every human apparently deserved to burn in hell forever (original sin). He sends himself in human form, somehow becoming his own son from his own holy seed, and he's now on earth with a specific mission to get himself killed. That's a form of suicide-by-cop, and he did this to trick himself into no longer wanting to torture us in the afterlife. But this Willy Wonka golden ticket is only redeemable if you believe in the magic trick and let him enter your heart.

That is just foolish. I can tell you, atheist. You're not even secular to begin with, because even secular scholars approve biblical facts. Search up the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' which were discovered before the year 2000, documenting things that were way before Jesus, and way before the Israel nation, that you will read in later Old Testament books before Jesus. They matched up with the previous texts. Secular documents and accounts confirm things that the Bible has said about a historic group of people, places and events. Such as the Pirate, Babylon, the ruined temple, claims of a Messiah and his disciples. Never forget the wide spread of Christianity. It's literally been proven, and it continually is. It's not even a book that fell from Heaven. It's real things that did happen and are continually being confirmed. it seems to be, that you don't want the Bible to be true. As an excuse to live your own life, and find a reason not to believe in God. This my friend, is storing up wrath for yourself on Judgement Day. It's pure ignorance and not even an open mind. There are so many flaws in this argument
    1) Only 4 monotheistic religions: Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, Many sects of Hinduism are monotheistic as well as many other religions, narrowing it down to 4 is actually crazy
    2) Different views on Jesus: This is probably my biggest problem with the argument: You havent said why it has to be Jesus for the religion's moral/truthful merit. Christians can be happy and praise Jesus to the core but so can Muslims with Muhammad, Sikhs with Guru Nanakh, Hindus with Krishnaji, Zoroastrians with Zoroaster. They all have central figures of their own religions.
    3) Just because a lot of people testify to something doesn't make it automatically true, because a man rising from the dead is the most paranormal thing known to mankind, if it was real. Eyewitness accounts aren't a shred of evidence for such a bold claim made over 2000 years ago.
Also Christianity, Islam, Judaism, all reject evolution which has much more evidence supporting it than some sky-figure controlling heavens and earth from above. Christian priests and Muslim apologists so radically oppose this theory when its clear they know nothing about it.
Lastly, don't tell people to "read the Bible for themselves" when you haven't read a Qur'an, Granth Sahib, Gita, Sutra, or a textbook in depth yourself while making such bold claims on other's religions. The lack of knowledge you had about these religions and vague superficial understanding of them, which is why people are thrashing on you in the comments. Furthermore, the N.T is a writing of man, wether you're a muslim or christian you should still accept the fact that the N.T is the word of man, Mark, Luke, John and Matthew in specific. You have even used it as a source/evidence against islam despite muslims not believing it is the word of god. Now that we established this, muslims could make the decision to convert to christianity, which can possibly mean eternal life in heaven but also eternal life in hell.
Muslims or any religious group shouldn't logically make a decision that can lead them to eternal punishment in hell based on a man made book (The New Testament) as it is prone to error and corruption which have been proven countless times by textual critics. It is also known that the new testament was not really a historical book but rather a theological book so the writers would have no problem adding false historical events as long as it is consistent with their theological beliefs which has also been confirmed by bible scholars if you do your research.
The argument that we should accept it as it was written in the generation of the eyewitnesses is like saying we can accept any source in the 1940s about the world war since it was written in its time period, pretty inconsistent isn't it?

We reason from effect to cause. Because we don’t see God, we investigate the effects of His work.
For example: Because we have a universe, we can conclude two things about it: either nothing created it or something did. Can nothing create something? No, so we rule out nothing could have created the universe.
The other option is something created the universe. What attributes would you have to have to be able to create the universe? You’d have to be extremely powerful, (able to create matter and energy) intelligent, (ingeniously ordering everything that works and sustains in this universe) space less, (you cannot occupy the space of something you’re creating or you’d be in the way, also you cannot exist inside of something that doesn’t exist yet) timeless, (if you caused the origin of time, there wouldn’t be time before you created it) eternal, (if you are timeless, then you wouldn’t have a beginning, which would make you eternal) and personal, only minds makes decisions (decision to create and design, and a mind can only make a mind). Who fits those attributes? God.

    • @user-fk3yz7mp9q
      @user-fk3yz7mp9q ปีที่แล้ว +2

You're trying to put human attributes onto God, which shows me the narrowness of christian thinking. You are conflating our desire to explain stuff with actual spiritual knowledge which always has been and will be timeless. It also shows your very recent human perception of time as linear, requiring it to have a beginning. The universe, God, has always existed in and as everything. There was no creation in the sense of genesis. When you start understanding the universe, how it's laws work, you will find out how limiting and therefore even blasphemous your perception of God is. The universe is constant renewal or in our interpretation creation. Just trying to rationalize God is like trying to make the fish in the tank understand that the moon is a big rock 300000 km away from earth.
Religions have been control Instruments keeping us far from God. Now to single out one of them and saying this is truth and everything else is wrong is both arrogant and foolish. And of course trying to put human attributes onto God shows how limited your spiritual experience is.

“Bruce Metzger is one of the great scholars of modern times, and I dedicated the book to him because he was both my inspiration for going into textual criticism and the person who trained me in the field. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. And even though we may disagree on important religious questions - he is a firmly committed Christian and I am not - we are in complete agreement on a number of very important historical and textual questions. If he and I were put in a room and asked to hammer out a consensus statement on what we think the original text of the New Testament probably looked like, there would be very few points of disagreement - maybe one or two dozen places out of many thousands. The position I argue for in ‘Misquoting Jesus’ does not actually stand at odds with Prof. Metzger’s position that the essential Christian beliefs are not affected by textual variants in the manuscript tradition of the New Testament.”

Further, the "eyewitness testimonies" you are claiming here are probably mostly from Paul, and if someone from 2,000 years ago says that they touched Jesus (or anyone else, for that matter) after he had died and he was alive, take it with a HUGE grain of salt.
Actually, if someone (such as Paul) says that SOMEONE ELSE said that they saw Jesus walking around after he died? Take it with at least two gigantic grains of salt!

But Paul was not the only eyewitness. We have writings by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, in the gospels and Acts (written by Luke), and also writings by Peter and James, in their epistles (not counting the author of Hebrews, who we don't know).
Moreover, these books mention many people who saw the resurrected Jesus. In the gospels, in Acts, in epistles. To women, to the apostles, to a crowd. 500 people in total (1 Corinthians 15:6).
All these people and others died because they said "Jesus lives", and can't be possible that they all chose die to profess a lie. The only one who survived was John, who was kept until his death in exile, where he wrote the Revelation.
So we can affirm: Christ lives!

    • @wormwood822

@@calebewilliams5202 you stated a whole lot of non sequiturs and things that you couldn't possibly know there. For starters, the assumed author of Revelation is John of Patmos who is NOT the same apostle John who supposedly wrote the Gospel of John. Further, *none* of the 4 gospels were likely written by the people who have their names attributed to them. The fact that their titles imply that they did, like most or all of the other things you said, is an unsubstantiated claim, and in no way, shape, or form evidence or proof that those were the actual authors.
And the claim of 500 witnesses is also just a completely unsubstantiated claim, not that it would particularly, necessarily matter anyway. Baha'is will say that there were *thousands* of witnesses to the supposed supernatural events that surrounded one of their prophet's deaths - the Bab's. And I think there were thousands of witnesses. Would you believe *them* if I told you that story? Because it most likely happened. In my understanding there are newspaper articles from the 19th century about it, but nothing about it was likely to have been supernatural.
And people can and do lay down their lives, knowingly even, for something that is a lie. The Coronavirus deniers who were in critical condition in hospitals saying - on their deathbeds - that it's a "fake virus" took their denial with them to their graves.

I can appreciate that condensing an argument into one minute means skipping over a lot of steps, though I would say Hindusim isn't technically polytheistic. Generally it's understood as a polymorphic monotheism, in that the Devas (gods in the lowercase 'g' sense) are created beings within the universe, whereas the Godhead Brahman (which is also Atman, the one Self of all things) is the ultimate principle of reality, and so God in the proper sense. This is a somewhat similar distinction to the Greek word theos, which is a lowercase god, vs the proper term Ho theos (or O theos as there appears to be no h in Greek), which is God in the fullest sense.
I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the Buddhist Brahma or the Tao either, as they bear some similarities to Christian apophatic ideas of God. I've heard that one Chinese Bible even uses the word Tao as a substitute for Logos (the Word in the prologue of John), as it carries many of the deep connotations.

@@lovespeaks777 You're definitely right that not all religions can be 100% true (at least taking them at their most literal level), but it is interesting to find deep synchronicity between their most fundamental tenants. I'm pretty sure many of the early Church fathers maintained that God had given partial revelation to all people (and I think Paul hints at this too), because God continually draws all to himself. Humans, wherever we are, are continually reaching toward the transcendent. Religio (Latin, not a typo), was considered a virtue that all people possessed.
In my understanding, all come to God through Christ because Christ ultimately is the bridge between humanity and divinity. Christ took upon the sin and estrangement of the world, overpowering it and making it possible for man to enter into the divine life. In the words of St. Athanasius, God became man so that man might become God. While other faiths have deep truths to them, Christianity holds the fullness of that truth (even if we are only encountering it in a veiled form, suitable to our weakness, and not yet face-to-face).

They didn’t have a N.T. when they believed Jesus was God. And I’m not going to just say the Bible isn’t reliable when it has been tested and tried and passed the test.
I don’t need the Bible to say God exists-He has proven His existence through the creation and our conscience. But to know Jesus is God and to know His teachings require a text passed down from after He was a man on earth.

bible is not proof as it simply states claims and refuses to back them up. what you have stated in the bible is something almost every religion does, make claims and not prove them.
however we can disprove certain claims that the bible does make, those being god is all loving and all powerful.
with all of the death and horrible things that happen in the world due to natural causes, children dying who will be sent to hell because they were part of another religion is not ever loving, now you could make the claim that god is unable to intervene, however it is also stated that god is all powerful, and thus choses to have these things happen to people who do not deserve it. It is also stated that god rested on the 7th day thus proving he has limits to what he is able to do. Now not only do I find it bizarre how much this personifies what is supposedly a tridimensional deity that takes no form, to even suggest that a concept that only is innate to that of lifeforms would apply to a deity that is said to take no form is bizarre to me.@@lovespeaks777

We’re not here to be distracted by what’s on this Earth, our Lord suffered for our sake but not out of accident. Our sins and actions are so bad we had God nailed to a cross just to even give us a fighting chance. "If you study the arguments for God's existence, you end up with a monotheistic God"
But who originated the cosmological argument? The furthest back we know is Aristotle, who was indeed a monist (believing in a supreme being), but also a devout polytheistic worshipper of the Greek Gods like all around him. The cosmological argument is a pagan argument made originally to other pagans. Monism =/= monotheism: it was common for many polytheistic cultures to believe in a supreme being (including also the Canaanites, who worshipped El, and the pre-Islamic Arabs who worshipped Allah the creator, and most polytheistic Hindus who worship Brahman, etc.).
The defining characteristic of monotheism has never been the belief in a supreme being, but belief in the jealousy of that being.

    • @lovespeaks777

@EdricoftheWeald Here is a deductive argument of why there must be a monotheistic God.
      1. God is defined as a perfect being.
      2. To be perfect is to lack nothing.
      3. No two beings are identical.
      4. This means that one must lack something the other possesses.
      5. The one that lacked something would not be perfect, and therefore, not be God.
      6. Therefore, one can only be God.

    • @EdricoftheWeald

@@lovespeaks777 Thank you but there is a linguistic misunderstanding. For thousands of years in all parts of the world except Judea/Israel, a "god/deus/theos/gudanaz/kami/ilah" was never conceived of as a perfect being, or even a particular class of beings, but any spirit that is honoured in order to create a relationship between people and the universe they lived in. For the Romans there were thousands of small gods in any forest or village. Gods were seen as forces of nature, and they didn't have to be moral guides (the Greeks certainly didn't want to imitate their gods), and just like the universe is imperfect, they embodied that imperfection and gave them a way to reconcile with it on a personal level. Aristotle's argument applies well to a perfect supreme being (which may or may not be called God depending on the culture), but it's a misunderstanding to put the Abrahamic view of of the word "God" or "Deity" (assumed to be a perfect and almighty being) as if it were majority view of history. On a different note, there is an issue with 4.-6., as it implies the essence of divinity cannot exist in different persons: if it doesn't imply that, and permits trinitarianism, then it just as well permits one of the Hindu views of all deities being persons of Brahman. Or the Wiccan view that all goddesses are one Goddess, all gods are one God, and that both are dual aspects of one supreme being, perfect in ways that seem imperfect because we cannot see.

What I have come to believe is that if a person is on a journey seeking nothing but the TRUTH, all roads lead to God. I made a decision when I was 9 years old after encountering a nasty hypocrite whether I was going to spend my life living with pretty lies, or facing uncomfortable truths. I chose the latter. I am so glad that I did because I am so strong in my convictions because of it. I do not have any cognitive dissonance because I refuse to let ideas in if they are easily proved false. & because of that I dont hate people who are caught up in pretty lies, I think that they are just seeking temporary comfort because they chose the former path.
It took me 30 years on this planet but I have come to know Jesus Christ as my Lord & savior. There is no way I can look upon all of the demonic evil doing of people in power (both left & right) & not believe that there is a god. There is spiritual warfare happening all around us, & we have been divided & nearly conquered as a country that was once founded on christian principles. They succeeded by removing God from our lives. That was one of the first things they did.
The beauty of it all is, they can do whatever they want to my body, but they can never have my soul. That belongs to our Lord. I dont fear evil doers anymore because I have the light of god within me. & it is more real than anything else I have experienced in my life. I was blind but now I see, I was lost but now I am found.

And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allah should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.
And Pharaoh said, “O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Haman, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars.”
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.
Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.

“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.”
Or do they say, “He invented it”? Say, “Then bring ten surahs [chapters] like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful.”

The likeliness that any religion is right is infinitely close to zero. The reason, people are responsible for maintaining religion. People have desires and ambitions, any possible truth that religion holds would have been abolished long ago, as these truths would interfere with the interests of those in power.

First, this isn't a matter of correct or incorrect views. During feudal society, those in power would never tolerate anything that challenged their rule or affected their interests. Second, there are recorded cases in history where religious leaders have met to change texts in the bible and religious documents. Not to mention, the meetings to determine inclusion and exclusion of content to the bible are admitted to have been carried out by the church.
You want a good example, according to the traditional catholic bible, divorce was banned. When the Presbyterian church was founded, this text banning divorce was altered, permitting divorce, but only by men stating that women had no right to divorce. It was once again changed so that both men and woman can choose to divorce by excluding the text mentioning men and women. The second change occurred in the 1950s. This is only a recent example.
Finally, noticed how you ignored the last line in my previous post. If god interfered in the world, drug addict parents wouldn't be able to send their children to the beds of drug dealers in exchange for drugs. Even today, this type of thing occurs, and isn't reported in the news to protect the child victims.
