Driving the BEAUTIFUL Stewart-Cassiar Highway in British Columbia (+ Hyder, Alaska)!

  • It's time to head back down to the lower 48 for the rest of the year! On our way up to Alaska we drove the Alaska Highway through British Columbia, but for the way down we took a different route, the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. During our 4 days driving down the Cassiar Highway, plus part of the Yellowhead Highway, we saw stunning bright blue lakes and tons of mountains, learned about jade, camped by a lake, enjoyed some smaller towns, saw BEARS, and slept overlooking an insane glacier. It was one of the most memorable experiences of our summer!

    Dear Adam and Kathryn,
This is not a comment on this video per se although this one was great and beautiful.
I've been following you for over a year, since about when you were going through Wyoming eastbound last year plus a few earlier videos. I have greatly enjoyed them and feel like I have gotten to know new friends. Interestingly enough, even though I have 40+ year of age on you I tend to think of you guys as contemporaries rather than "nice kids." I don't know if that says something about me, you, or both.
I have lived a long and interesting life and don't plan on leaving anytime soon but I have realized that I don't have too many firsts or new experiences at this point. Watching you I have been able to experience a large number of firsts that I didn't expect to have and this has been a very good thing. My wife and I hope to follow at least some of your adventures and places where you have blazed the trail for us.
So, a very sincere and hearty, thank you.

I need to thank you guys for posting this particular video.
During the prep work for my own trip, I knew I'd be driving down the Cassiar, but I probably would've driven right past Boya Lake if it hadn't been for this video. I just visited it yesterday and I have to say it really is a very special place.
Not only was it the right place for a lunch break, but the sheer majestic beauty of the place is almost magical. And it transfers really well into photos. I can't get over the colour of that water! It's a bit like Muncho Lake, only smaller.

Finally managed to finish the video...thank you for including my Canada. All too often my Province is treated as an afterthought in the Alaska adventure videos. Also thank you for understanding that life in the north is hard and sometimes things do not end up aesthetically pleasing, yet remain surrounded by beauty. My wife and I spend a lot of time up there, know it and the people well...and we continue to return, now you understand a bit of that, eh?
If you return, investigate the lower part of Northwest Territories. Do the Alberta thing up to Grand Prairie and then straight north, around Great Slave Lake and into Yellowknife. Come out via the Liard Trail and you have done numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as multiple water falls that put Niagara to shame. All the best...

I've enjoyed watching your journey to and from Alaska. Appreciate all the research you do and share so eloquently. I've been to Alaska 3 times, but have never driven from the lower 48. You've given me many great ideas when I drive there in the future. Glad you got to see the grizzlies close up. Awesome experience.

My husband and I never miss a video of yours. Loved your journey to Alaska and back again. I'd be so excited too to be seeing all the awesome scenery and bears! Lol! God's creation of all the mountains, lakes, trees, wildlife etc is so amazing. I'm in awe of it all. What a beautiful earth we get to live in. Continued blessings on your journies in the future. God bless! 🙌🙏🥰

What an epic trip!!! I didn't think you could top your Dempster Highway video, but this is incredible! I live in BC (Vancouver), but I had no idea these spots even existed! Salmon glacier looks unreal! Definitely planning a BC roadtrip for next summer!
