4 years ago, when I was a newbie at coding, (c#) I mispronounced this method from the Math class: Math.Sqrt(); so I pronounced it "squirt" instead of square root, and it was sooo embarassing..😂
Probably everyone else was like "I hope they don't call for me to answer" and they were happy someone else answered. And the awkward silence was there before too. I'm sure they know how hard you work.

Oh Paige I feel you 😂 I get embarrassed so easily about tiny little things my colleagues probably don’t even remember and haven’t thought about since! The other week I sent a work email to a client and the wording wasn’t quite right, my boss was very nice and talked me through how to be better next time (wasn’t mad at all) but I had an absolute meltdown in my bedroom - I suppose that’s one of the benefits of working from home rather than in the office 😂 obviously nothing came of it and I was worrying about nothing!! happens to the best of us 😭

A few minutes back I watched the 1st vlog where I was blown away by "Fun: We are young" and now out of nowhere comes "You raise me up" which is an extremely emotional song for me, because He actually raised me up from my life's failures to success. Keep going keep going Paige.

God knows why company's think its a good idea to put people on the spot. Never works in schools. Just results in humiliating people! Xx

Paige, people making fools of themselves at work happen all the time. You are also still new to the job and it takes time for you to get use to it. You are basically just starting off. What other modules will you be taking besides Statistics and Business Finances? Once you finish your modules in your job, will you be earning a certificate?
Got actuarial mathematics (mathematical modelling), risk management techniques, more statistics and business modules, specific reserving techniques and more to come! Once I pass of the course exams (which will take a few years), I’ll get the FIA qualification
In appraisals I'm often told that while my contributions to meetings are usually insightful, I wait too long to be sure before making them and I shouldn't worry about making mistakes. Often a nonsense idea can trigger off ideas in the more experienced of your peers. One trick is to make a comment really quickly when it's obvious you've not had time to think; dive in with a jokey remark so that (a) you break the "who's first" ice and (b) you're off the hook for the first real comment. Yeah, I've been doing this too long. Walked past the Senate House this morning. They're mowing the lawn in the sun but I guess there aren't going to be any congregations this year either. I hope you and the others do come back for your replacement ceremony. Cambridge feels so odd without undergraduates cycling past me reminding me of my distant youth...
Clever strategy haha, will adopt this going forward! 😅 it’s such a shame there’s no undergraduates in Cambridge at the moment. Some Senate House ceremonies are being planned for this summer - will share more in my next vlog.

Sorry if this has already been answered million of times, but why didnt you choose to work in the field (physics), in which you obtained your undergrad? Probably with Cam degree afterwards it is not that hard to get an entry position also in other fields, but was generally curious why somebody with Physics degree going for a more Finance job.

I completely get your embarassment Paige, but like you said, it's not like someone else was giving great contribution to the conversation! I get the companies want to create a friendly-family environment, but... sometimes the results are these kind of awkward situations XD like someone already wrote here, I'm sure the others were glad someone answer instead of them. If even Britains or English-speaking people in general struggle with English pronunciation, how are foreign speakers supposed to deal with it? I don't want to complain, but English pronunciation does not make sense WHATSOEVER, it's predestined to go awry.
