Best tutorial I've seen, I like that there isnt a bunch of talking and that your tying knots on a white background so it's clearly visible what's being done. Thanks again. Now suscribed.
This seems like one of the most practical dropshot knots I've seen in awhile with an actual functional purpose. I've been using a oyster rig (what we call them) as a dropshot which I like since it takes like 15 seconds to do from nothing to hook and weight. I will try this version tho as it really seems to be practical for it's purpose and doesn't involve 5 knots to do the same job. (for those who may wonder a oyster rig is basically as it sounds, we have a lot of oyster beds here and they are notorious for snagging hooks so folks tie their hook about a foot of the ground and use a weight at the bottom) end result resembles the traditional dropshot rig but it's super fast and super simple to tie.
It's actually preformed remarkable well to my surprise, I prefer this over my old oyster rig, this knot works and it works well. What I like most is I can feed my dropshot baits (mostly Zman) further onto the hook and use the weight of the hook to prevent the bait from rising up as the salt dissolves as the plastic floats) It's been my biggest complaint with Zman baits but you don't have to worry about a pinfish or puffer pecking the tail off since it stretches instead of tears.
Thank you..... finally something new. I cannot tell you how many times, fisherman have tried to tell me this is how you do this or that.... I think them to be polite. They think because I’m a woman I don’t know anything. I started fishing when I was three or four years old, my father says I caught my first walleye when I was around five. I think I was about eight. I worked as a maid or a boat. I made up fishing rigs for people for deep-sea fishing. Anything to expedite good knots.... is also appreciated.
Nice knot. I may try this out on a teaser jig. For people new to fishing, please lubricate the pre-cinched knot BEFORE cinching it. You see the burns on the line from cinching? That will be the weakest spots on your knot. Lubricate with water or saliva to minimize the line burns.
Your video is so much better than others because u zoom the camera in so we can see what is happening. Thank You! Great Video! I have to try this knot.
Glad I found this video. Ive been using this knott but was always annoyed how fiddly it was to tighten without the loops tightening around the shank. I didn't realise that this was supposed to be the way of it!

This knot for drop shotting is great for any Pound monofilament line. Easy to tie Quick and strong. Also the Hook stands super Straight on the line . 90 degrees from the mainline. This will be my goto knot for all of my drop shotting. Love it and Thanks for Sharing
Thank you for sharing. I prefer this over palomar knot. With this method, the hook stays almost perpendicular to the line and that means better presentation.
Have you used this knot yet?? I had a GIANT bust 6lb floro today and it busted at the knot. I'm definitely curious if this knot holds up as good as a palomar
I just stumbled across this video and have been doing a palamor knot for drop shot for years which has been a issue since I moved floro years ago. After several fish the line weakens breaks or even twists. This knot is fantastic. Wish I would have known about it years ago
I did notice, how funny. The Chinese have a great sense of humor for such a serious culture. I attended a fishing convention in Hong Kong where they gave away penis shaped lures. It's a flat lure made in the shape of penis and testicles as a joke. I decided to put hooks on it and I caught some of the largest (inshore) Sea Bass using it as a teaser :+) It just goes to show you, there's no real science to it. I'll try almost anything once and this knot? I'll use it for the rest of my life and teach it to as many fishermen as possible.
Hi ncaoai47, I'm from Brazil and I subscribed your channel! Nice tip on that clinch knot that slides to prevent lead from getting stuck in the rock. Congratulations on the post! Thumbs up!
Polimer knot is still one of the bread and butter knots for hooks. May not be ideal for drop shot rigs but still a solid fall back knot to know if you dont want to loose a hook.
I always use a polymer knot and just run the tag end through the eye of the hook to make the hook point upwards..this knot seems easier and just as effective..
Thanks for taking the time to teach this knot. I use a dropper rig for bottom, wreck and reef fishing. I have learned to tie many drop rigs but I have never seen this one. Can you tell me what fish this is used for? I'm going to try it out tomorrow but i would really like to know how and what you use it for. Thanks Again...
I use the drop shot all the time, but this is the first time I've seen this knot. I also haven't considered using several hooks per line before either. I know it's legal in my state to have multiple hooks per line, but I hadn't considered doing that on a drop shot rig. Thanks for teaching me some very useful tips!
Offers more control over bait presentation than a dropper loop. When you jig, its an action that transmits directly to bait vs. a dropper loop or t knot - no slack. Not to mention a better chance at hookset - no delay from any slack. I will try this on my next ling and rock cod outing. Thx.
Great knot, neat , strong, the hook sits perfectly and snug.

Can I use this style of knot for fly on ice fishing above the main bait?
I do not know . Give it a try!
The best things are always simple so it seems . Really slick set up and your presentation was concise and clear. Thank you.

So it's basically a drop loop snugged tight to the eye in stead of leaving an open loop.

Umm you can tie a palomar in 5 seconds.
Thank you for showing us how to tie these knots. I just happened to see this and I am SO glad I watched. I will definitely use them. 👍👍👍

Tons easier than the "traditional" way everyone else uses. I will definitely start doing this.

Andy B think the lure is called the “lil Ricky” or something like that
No but I wondered how the word "carp" gets on 150lb leader. Must be some big carp out there somewhere
@@nicstr28 it is 150 metres not 150 lbs

This seems like a much more effective and sturdier rig than doing it with a Palomar knot. Thanks for the tip! I'll try this out today.
Seems a bit easier to tie than a palomar knot for sure gonna have to try this out.
Polimer knot is still one of the bread and butter knots for hooks. May not be ideal for drop shot rigs but still a solid fall back knot to know if you dont want to loose a hook.

A blood knot with the hook in the middle. Genius! But you might want to tie a swivel between this and the main line to avoid the line twist. Nice Vid
Would this be effective for pier fishing as opposed to using a dropper loop!?
