When welding two different thickness of metal together. Get the weld pool started on the thicker piece, in this case the tube and work it onto the thinner material.
Currently in hospital with two fractures and a displaced bone fragment. I’ve got an overnight stay before my operation tomorrow, I was so happy to see that Robbie posted it’s really brought up my mood
When grinding and welding around a car cover the windows and painted areas you don’t want damaged. Hot sparks from grinding will burn into windows and and paint. I learned the hard way!!!!
Robbie if you keep blowing though with your welds you can aim your gun towards the pipe as it’s a thick metal so it will take the heat better or you can speed up you pace and adjust volts and wire sped to match just thought I could add that
You look so chill man it's been about 3 or 4 years I've been watching you and I don't know why but you look so chill as a friend hahah can we be friends ?😂😂
Well, it depends on where he gets hit, is there enough "crumblezones" around that area etc. tube frames a robust and strong, so yes, that can happen. Most likely it will be ok.
No dude now if you ever get in a car crash these tubes will shoot inside the cabin like bullets remove asap You need the original piece for maximum strength and passive safety
@@GIZZMOTORSPORTS well it is not a mod, he is just repairing the rust with the cheap and easy way. And yes this is dangerous it will not bend as easy as it looks. At least he could add some "dents" to make the metal give up on specific points
I disagree. From a side impact to the quarter panel, that wouldn't happen, but I believe you are thinking about a head-on impact. In that situation, the bash bar/radiator/bumper will hit first, and either pull the new tube rails in, or push them out, depending on how narrow the car is. From there, if they are bent, they will crumple from there.
Dam you killed this. Only thing if add is you should make a 90 from the end of the bar to the engine bay. It'll clean it up a bunch and it'll stop water getting inside the tubing and rotting it inside out
to correctly attach thick wall tubing to formed sheet metal like that you are better off making load spreading plates, similar to how a rollcage affixes to the floorpan of a car. that'll make welding less of a headache and it'll prevent the tubing from punching through the firewall-ish area in an accident. also makes it less prone to fatigue. just a handy tip for next time :)
Not gonna lie I am kinda disappointed I only found your channel now, would have loved to build out cars with you while you were in Vancouver. Keep up the awesome videos man!
Always PUSH your welds instead of PULLING! Just a nice tip to get strong welds that dont just stay on the surface of the metal but go "deep" between the metals.
Spray Anti rust spray in the tube and buy 2 tube plugs to seal it off the other part of welding your welding thick tubing against thin car metal the best you could do was welding a little plate against the car at low voltage where the tube comes to sit and than you weld the tubing against the plate at the right voltage
Hey robby i had the same problem with blowing threw the metal so i invested into a wire wheel for my angel grinder and it dose not go through the metal as fast but rips thru the paint
Hey Robbie. first of all love your work! And i really appreciate the good content you put in these videos, so keep up the good work. Please do not consider this comment as a hate comment or anything negative regarding you or your work ethics, but wouldn't you think that this tube frame would be dangerous for you or another car in case this car got into a front impact due to the fact that these rail frames are more likely to puncture and go through your car or other cars rather than crumbling under the loads of a crash
Hey Robbie, I’m a builder from New Zealand and I use Bluetooth earmuffs made by 3m called 3m work tunes, would highly recommend them for when you’re grinding and stuff and want to listen to music if you can get them in Canada
Are we just going to ignore the fact that he didn’t say “peace out and stay committed” he just held up a a peace sign and said stay committed and Idk about y’all but on every video when he says that I say it too.
I would have highly suggest to plate underneath the pillar where you connected the tube, but looks really good. Can say you have definitely improved. (Also lower the heat and test on the pieces you cut off)
Rust is a big problem in Wisconsin. Been looking for a clean hatch! I've looked at two this year and walked away. One of them was "rust free" but when I got there four hours away! I see the quarters bondod and one of the doors had a crash impact filled with bondo. Looked clean in the facebook ad but in person it was ran through man.
everyone body comment when u started watching robbie! i started watching him like almost a year ago... i was laying in my moms bed and on youtube the loft video (the first part) and it kept being on the recommended and i was like... huh? im gonna watch this... and ever since i have been HOOKED
Are you sure that wasn’t structural piece you cut away? I know it’s thin metal and was already rusty but that piece is part of the apron that might support your struts. The way they fold those panels makes them super strong. Don’t want to see you yeet that front end after the swap 😳😳
hey rob did the hotwheels i sent you in the one you open edon tube today, the are from me< Dayne in brampton, there was an e30me, kia stinger, c7 corvette, chevy c10 and i think a nissan 300zx twinturbo police car
Honestly think you should just full send it and build a roll cage since you bought a turbo for the k and stripped the interior. Lol might as well tube the front too while you’re at it🤔😂
You should definitely cap off the ends of the tubing that's open. You will get water in there and it'll rust from the inside out
That's what I was thinking 😅
and use some hollow section wax to atleast coat the inside
@@gogogo155 that as well. But it's hard to come by in stores
@@masinvanheel5508 the local autopartstore here has it in stock all the time,. They know me to well 🤣
I was just about to say this 😂😂👌🏼
When welding two different thickness of metal together. Get the weld pool started on the thicker piece, in this case the tube and work it onto the thinner material.
you should cap off the ends of the tube frame you made to prevent water and crap from going into the tube and rusting it out
Exactly what I was thinking he could get like a big tap and screw in an end or just weld it shut
Currently in hospital with two fractures and a displaced bone fragment. I’ve got an overnight stay before my operation tomorrow, I was so happy to see that Robbie posted it’s really brought up my mood
Best of luck with the operation!
@@pikablue1834 Thankyou!
Happy Christmas and new year Robbie! This hot wheels collection is going to be fire!
PS: Have fun writing the Instagram handles on all the 50 cars😂
U'r an amazing human being

I just finished your video about the quads😂😂
Same
Robbies welds getting better 😍👨🏭👨🏭👨🏭
that attention to detail painting the front end really makes a difference in the overall build. Great work
Great video. I sent the blue subaru hot wheel from Illinois! Glad you got it.
Cortney remembers the last time when brad welded
Just woke up and I saw this and mow my morning is a thousand times better
Glad the 86 made it! Congrats on all the success!
You’ve inspired me to tackle the rust on my Audi man. Keep up the good work
We’re just gonna ignore how he pronounce Mario???
Looks like it
When?

Maereo
Marrio Kart 😂
Keep UP The great job! Allways committed!
Welding tip: when you weld it helps getting a good rest so you can be more steady and takes less effort😉 love the vids btw
I decided to rewatch old videos today. I think we need a new “winter driving a BRZ” video. I can’t imagine that going wrong
Keep it going looking good
It's always a better day when Robbie uploads
Thank you robbie for uploading videos and keeping all me quarantine entertain 🙏
How are there people out there that haven’t watched the quad video! Was so good bro! 😆
You should make a cap for the hole in the pole so water can’t get and there and rust it out again. Just a little tip hope it helps.
Just open my eyes. And seen a video from Robbie. Best start to my day😂😂
Man I love seeing people weld I wanna learn it myself
Robbie if you keep blowing though with your welds you can aim your gun towards the pipe as it’s a thick metal so it will take the heat better or you can speed up you pace and adjust volts and wire sped to match just thought I could add that
Awesome job! Wish I had that paint you used because I’m going to take care of some rust tomorrow in my car 😂😂
I freaking love your videos!! Anytime Robbie pops up instantly click!! Love the way your videos go!!! Keep it 💯 brotha!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
its intense how much your welding has improved keep it up man!
Glad to see you finally got a welder congrats robbie

Just a question, if he gets into an acident with this car wouldnt he just impale the car in front of him with the way the tubes are
Well, it depends on where he gets hit, is there enough "crumblezones" around that area etc. tube frames a robust and strong, so yes, that can happen. Most likely it will be ok.
No dude now if you ever get in a car crash these tubes will shoot inside the cabin like bullets remove asap

Exactly what I was thinking, the crumple zone Is gone and has been replaced with rigid steel. Very dangerous was looking for this comment.
I dunno, they look like toilet paper roll thickness, lol. They will crumple. Somebody tell me what the point of this mod is.
@@GIZZMOTORSPORTS well it is not a mod, he is just repairing the rust with the cheap and easy way. And yes this is dangerous it will not bend as easy as it looks. At least he could add some "dents" to make the metal give up on specific points

hey robbie id make sure to cap the end of that pipe to keep water and stuff from coming in and causing rust
we use these pipe cutters all the time they work really well. i do plumbing and heating :)

Just asking, but did you think of capping the ends of the tubes off? If not they will get moisture in and rust immediately
Great video. Love your editing and content.
You should look into and exhaust fan for the shop. It’ll take care of that grinding dust for ya.
Hey robby i had the same problem with blowing threw the metal so i invested into a wire wheel for my angel grinder and it dose not go through the metal as fast but rips thru the paint
just curious, but are you planning on doing dimple die/ rollbar support braces on it, or boxing it in at some point?
Yo bro good shot keep it up !!! Love the content
Next thing you need is an exhaust fan, or 2. Especially when welding. 💪🏾

Has to break those Robbie welds first
Very underrated car channel
If your going a different color paint, take the doors off cause now would be an awesome time to do the jams. Doing a great job.

such connections, the thick material is welded longer, flooding the thin metal
Like how you are building a giant hot wheels collection because I actually collect hot wheels myself and also because it is unique

hey... u always need a fire extinguisher😂😂 ur tha best robbie!😂 favorite youtuber!
Robbie needs to do a OEM+ clean af old can rebuild
Courtney brought you a fire extinguisher cuz there's history brother.
you need to cap the end of the tubes off to prevent the rust getting inside:)
RIP the stance cart 😔
Shame it wasnt brought over. Idk could've tied it to the roof of the U-Haul or something
Should have brought it over and put a motor in it
Is it ok if hotwheels are not in pacage becouse i got 1 that is 50 years old, and couple other colectibles

Would be dope if ya did a radiator tuck on the hatch😎 wanna do it to my em1
You should add a metal sheet on the triangle bit to make it a little more stronger
You should pick up some poly fan disks 40 or 60 grit, they’re good for jobs like this
What size tubbing did you use ?
2 like babby always happy when he uploads

LOVIN the mod vids

thank you for talkin bout where u messed up, helped me a lot 🙏
(defo didnt say that just to make u feel good 🤥)
Nice
Love the vids man
bro i love your videos💯💯
I have a question about my hatches frame idk if you could help
Ayyy big up the UK
You should get a plastic plug for the end of that tube. If you don’t water will pool up in there and rust again
What was the reason for the tube front
use steel-it it’s a rust prevention paint and you can weld on it too
We should have a video of all of the Hot Wheels he’s received.
