30 years in the Dept. Of Corrections. Once a year to the gun range, 30 yrs ago it was a Wheel gun and a 12 gauge Remington shotgun were weapons of choice. Today the S&W M&P. I now because of recent world happenings wish to protect my family. I purchased the Taurus G3. Wont be coming till the Local store gets it for me. Watched your vids. Love them all. Just because of 30 yrs in does not mean I have 30 yrs experience with a weapon. Only firing at the range once yearly. Very knowledgeable information given. Thanks for enlightening my new gun experience.
This is by far the most educational video I saw for break in and prep video for a new handgun. Definitely a must watch for first time individual who just got their new pistol.
I certainly appreciate it. Been shooting for 40 years but have next to no semi-auto experience. your vids on these taurus pistols is the most informative thing I've found.
Really appreciate your videos. I just bought a Taurus G2C today. It is my first semi automatic gun. All I've owned in the past was a Ruger security six 357 Magnum, so this is completely new to me. Your videos are a big help, thank you.
You are welcome! It is a great little pistol. I hope you enjoy it. I have done a lot of videos on these guns. Check my Taurus playlist if you are interested.
Thank you for this. I have watched about 20 videos now from professionals and you have taught me more in this video than any of the others combined. You explain in a terrific way. Great first gun owner video. Thank you so much for what you do.
I am used to my old 1911 and kind of new to these plastic guns. This vid was very helpful. The only plastic kind of gun I used was an old 45 highpoint my son bought and besides its looks it shot true and never a jam. He did not stay in the business more than 3 or 4 years. Those days you had to clean them before handling, in these times, often a New gun wont be even lubed, out of the box, and may even have machine "dirt". Now I'm talking about a time when a New Smith and Wesson revolver was 55 dollars. And a Winchester Shot Gun was about 160 dollars.
you are correct - your videos do help new gun owners - I didn't break in my Taurus G3c before we went to range but will lube now - probably 500 rounds now
This is great advice for what to do with a new gun. I just got a G3c, and followed your directions (though to be less messy I used a Q-tip to apply the lube to the various parts). I hope to get to a range sometime this week to run a hundred rounds through it.
Man you ain’t lying when you said it’s really hard to get a brand new gun home and just look at it, I drove my wife crazy playing with mine she had to tell me to leave it alone n put it up herself. Another good way of breaking in is to dry fire practice
When I bought my Taurus G3c, I took it home and disassembled it. It was very, very bone dry. I lubed with Lucas Gun Oil Extreme duty and it ran everything I put in the mag. The mag springs were very stiff.

I just got a G2c yesterday, had plenty of (shipping) lube on it, so I just took it out of the box and ran 2 mags of cheap ball ammo thru it.. then took it home for a quick clean and relube (few drops of Rem Oil on each wear area) and I will run another 4-5 mags of cheap ammo thru it, then it'll get another cleaning and then test with "carry" ammo... unless I get 100% function, I won't carry it until it does.. I also racked the slide manually a few dozen (100?) times, and dry fired it another several dozen times, just to get things working together nicely..
I think that the most important part of break in is the reed ramp and throat area. From a metal to metal contact standpoint the rails on the slide and frame are not machined so tight that it really needs much break in. Actually from the machining standpoint it’s a very loose tolerance. But I am a believer in shooting your gun for a minimum of 50 rounds to make sure it’s running well. I have a G2C that doesn’t like a particular hollow point. Love your videos brother. Stay safe out there.
Thank you for the information. I can't think of anyone feeling you are pushing anything except for safety. Great video...I have watched 3 or 4 and will see more. And of course I subscribed.

I just picked up my G3 last night. I haven’t even fired it yet, It does seem that the slide lock is a bite difficult to disengage. I will be at the range, as soon as they open tomorrow, I’m looking forward finally trying this gun out. I love the channel and all the great info and tutorials that you share. Thanks so much
The slide lock on the Taurus G series is just a slide lock. It doesn't function as a slide release lever (like it does on lots of other semiauto handguns). You have to pull back on the slide to release the slide lock.
Great video! I got my g2c in summer 2020, and have picked up some of your techniques, but I did learn a few new tips. I'll definitely make sure to not let any oil get on the stricker. I'm getting a steel stricker, so I'll be extra careful. The dust and lint issue is real, I can attest. I do a lint check every few days or at least once a week.
Man I think this is a great video of information to someone who's new to using pistols . And yeah I definitely agree with lubing the pistol up when you get a brand new one and racking it to help break it in . I pretty much do the same things you do when I get a new gun . I even did it with my pellet rifle but my pellet rifle ain't just an ordinary pellet rifle . It's a hunting pellet rifle and it's got as much recoil as a 9mm pistol . It's perfect for busting up coyotes , squirls or raccoons . I like to go to places where there's a lot of rats and go out and tear their little asses up .
You just taught me how to clean my pistol, I was literally cleaning my G3c while watching your vid step by step. Very detailed information, thanks for the lesson my friend 😊
Hello! First don't appoligize for too many videos in a day, you put out quality videos! I've been shooting for decades and still learn today. I personally don't believe in the "break-in period" theory. That's just me! Me, I clean everything without total disassembly. I just clean everything including the striker channel. People sometimes overlook this area. Then my 9mm I use .147 grain ammo to shoot all the time, if available? I don't run more than a mag of 9mm +P. I will run all casings, but only brass as a carry ammo! Regarding motor oil? Heck, Bill Wilson recommends Lucas Gun oil as well as two other lubes. Now, realistically, I don't believe there is much difference between their auto lubes and gun lubes? Great presentation! Very best to ya',,,,!
Thanks man. Yeah, I see what you are saying. Makes sense. A lot of guys have been asking, so I showed what i do.I use Lucas auto products and I like them. I def only use brass carry ammo too. Usually nickel plated brass. HST is my go to for self defense. Many good ones out there, but I trust HST. I agree on the auto lube being about the same. Thanks for the good comment. I appreciate you watching, as always.
@@2aEdu the only thing i don't like about the one from Lakeline is its open in the back and you can see the spring and yellow follower, which can get pocket lint or dirt inside of the magazine well. Kind of wish i bought the one from Galloway now
I use 10w30 Royal Purple full synthetic motor oil mainly because that's what I run in my truck and my hot rod. So I always have it on hand and it's polarized to stick to metal so a little goes a long way and it stays and it's purple so you can see it a lot better than your typical gun oil.
Yeah, that is a good choice. Syn motor oil makes great gun lube. I use Royal purple 2 cycle3 oil, and their 20w50 in my commercial lawn mowers hydro pump.
bought a g3c today and subscribed to you. Very informative, I was afraid to dry fire but you said it's okay for this (type) of gun. I don't know enough as of yet to understand why. But thanks!
I love your point about fire your defense ammo. I shoot cheap rounds at the range but I've never tried my expensive hollow points. Maybe there's a difference I need to do this
Yes, always test the ammo and mags you will use for self defense before carrying it. Sometimes ammo doesnt feed well from a particular gun, and sometimes you get a bad mag. Even brand new.
I use motor oil. If it’s good enough for the super close tolerance in an automobile engine it’s good enough for my gun. And a quart will last a long time
Thank you so much. I'm just a guy who loves guns. Hanging out with you all on here. If we were next door that would be cool. But at least we can hangout on the computer or phone screen. lol
Ya doing a good job for advise, some wont go along with all of it, but to each their own....I've used "Marvel Mystery Oil" Red and Black label. Some call it a top oil, used in engines... After the first 100 rds I switch to "Hoopes" cleaner, oil and solvent...
Thanks man. I like Marvels Mystery Oil too.....for all kinds of stuff actually. Yeah, some won't do all of it and some won't do any of it. lol I'm trying to give a newer gun or pistol owner some place to start.
Oil slings off I use a grease called Pro-Gold Very sparingly Do not dry fire "Stryker Fired" guns. Pull slide rear quarter inch then pull trigger to let down Stryker it will move a shorter distance and not build up the speed. I had a Stryker smash and peen seized in slot until slide would not close under recoil spring pressure. Removed Stryker and filed the peened spot. This was in a Canik TP9. Break in by cycling slide by hand mostly to save ammo. NEVER oil or lube a magazine, inside barrel, inside chamber. Oil penetrates primers and may cause a dud round when you need it. A snap cap can be made with a sized case and seated bullet no powder and no primer. Fill where primer goes with HOT GLUE gun. Trim flush with Razor blade. Hot Glue gun plastic is firmer than soft silicone and easy to replace. Works with shotgun hulls too. Push out primer with rod fill hole. Fill shell with anything and fold and glue crimp closed. Great to train with loading unloading not using real live ammo for instructing or testing.
Here's a unrelated question maybe. But I found your videos and I'm enjoying them, does ammunition get old, I'm talking five or 10 years ,would you just throw that out?
Thank you! If stored properly ammo will last 100 years. I did an ammo storage video where I talked about the whole topic. Search my channel for ammo storage.
Great video. Very informative and approachable. I’ve followed your instructions on cleaning and breaking it in. I’ve been to the range twice now, probably get somewhere between 50-75 rounds each time. I keep running into an issue where around the third or fourth shot in each round a jam occurs, where I have to rack and eject the bullet and begin firing again. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Thank you. Make sure you have a firm grip on the pistol. A lot of issues happen when firing with a loose grip. Also try a dif type of ammo and see if it persists.
2A..Have you had any subscribers or know of anyone who have had a slide break apart? I took my new G3C to range for the first time and around the 30th round the slide did not return to the normal position and stuck. After I pulled the slide back a few times to clear the round the slide returned. I ended my session at the range and once I got the pistol home , I realized the slide rail area broke apart around the ejector window. Any help, suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you very much I just took apart my G3C and cleaned it very slightly....... I saw a video where they say its not good to close the action without the mag in the firearm beacuse theirs more pressure on the firearm. Is this true ? Someimes I would do this just to see the guns performance

I am new to your channel and in fact I just subscribed to it! Awesome video and advice! Very well done and I am awaiting the arrival of my brand new G2C any day now. Keep up the awesome video and I will be recommending to my friends to check you out!
Thanks for the interesting video sir. I am an experienced shooter but I just bought my first striker fired handgun. It was a Taurus G3C and you taught me some things i did not know about them. Liked....Subbed.....Rang of the Bell
I just recently purchased 2 G2C pistols. I bought them used and like them very much. When I got the I cleaned and lubed them up good. Now after watching your video I realized I lubed the firing pin area pretty good and when my wife and I went to the range and were practicing her pistol jammed pretty regular. Mine not as much but it did as well. The more we shot the better the gun seemed to work. Could me oiling that area and possibly over oiling the gun have caused all this or should I take them to the gunsmith and have them checked out?
Hey brother I just recently aquired the G3C and today I tried HSM Remanufactured 147 grain flat nose full metal jacket. As your probably aware HSM is a well known factory reload ammunition maker; not a fly by night company. They've been in business since the 60's and supply big box stores even. The problem I encountered is the throat length vs. taper of the projectile. If the shape of the bullet seated in the brass remains flat for to long before it tapers it will not go into full battery by a 1-1.5 millimeters due to it encountering the land. (land - rifleing grooves) of the barrel. So do you believe this is normal as far as Taurus is concerned and thus by design, albiet poorly (IMO) designed ? I'm kinda bummed, I just purchased several boxes of this ammo and evidently my gun will not fire it. Another issue is it seems to be shooting ~4 inches low and ~4 inches left from point of aim at 7 yards....How is the accuracy of your G3C ? I appreciate your time spent in responding. God bless
My G2C has the same issue. Strangely, only with Federal ammo. 115gr FMJ, 124gr FMJ and 147gr Hydra Shoks. But not with any other bullet weights or styles of the other 10 types I've tried. I discovered this issue shortly after buying my pistol. After racking a 124gr FMJ American Eagle round into the chamber, I tried to eject it. The slide was froze. I finally held the slide in one hand and then smacked the hell out of the back of the grip. Kinda scary, but it worked. After this situation, I researched the issue. It appears Taurus 9mm pistols have "short chambers". And certain bullet shapes will cause this. I now "plunk test" any ammo before I chamber it in my Taurus. I did call Taurus customer service and informed them of my issue. They told me to break the gun in with ammo that didn't stick in the chamber, then it should feed the problem ammo. I was sure that was exactly what they would say. After my past encounters with Taurus "non-customer" service, I don't have any faith in their service. I almost didn't buy my G2C because of past issues with Taurus service. But I got the gun new for $200. This issue isn't a deal breaker- but damn, it seems like a problem Taurus should address. I was hoping they would offer to replace my barrel with the "short chamber". I've owned many, many 9mms over the years. And several now. None have this issue. Not even my Hi Points ! But yes, this seems to be a common issue with Taurus 9's.
You advertise a friend's product for extended magazine, I just acquired a 17 round magazine. Need to buy a spacer for the g2. Does he have a u tube channel. I did see him showing his product on a u tube .
It doesn't hurt the G2C. It has a spring loaded striker(firing pin) on some guns especially many rimfire it is bad with no snap caps. But with these Taurus pistols it is fine.
d you please look down the grip handle of the G3c and give me your thoughts on the mag release pin/spring. the glocks. is incased but not on the tarus, mine popped out.
Hello! I bought a new G2C and G3. Both guns, when I got them home, I took apart. After I inspected the internals I put the slide on. Very, very hard to get the slide back on???? I can't get to the range to shoot because I'm Broward "Covid County", Florida! Did you experence this issue???? Best to ya',,,,! P.S. I found your channel AGAIN because You-Tube unsubscribed me!
I have noticed if you jiggle the slide a little from side to side while moving it to the rear helps. I don't know why TH-cam keeps doing this. It's good to have you back. These shutdowns suck.
@@2aEdu I like really disenchanted with YT! It's a never ending battle try to remember my favorite channel! But, I know you're a Taurus fan so I realized I wasn't getting notifications? I have a question you may be able to answer. Will a sig p226 magazine follower work in a g2c magazine body. I think the 226 magazine has a better engineered follower. More of an anti tilt design. I’ve seen some g2 magazines have some nose diving issues when fully loaded with certain ammo types.
Hey brother love the channel!!! You are much appreciated!! I have 2 of the g2c 9mms. I have been wondering if I bought a slide assembly (slide, recoil assembly rod and spring, and barrel) in .40 s&w if it would fit on my regular g2c 9mm frame. Would you happen to be able to do a video on that?? I’m gonna post this comment twice where you won’t miss it!! Lol thank you brother much love!!!
It is a little dirtier, but it doesn't bother me. Russian ammo is banned from import, so there won't be any avail soon anyways. It isn't that the ammo or powder is actually dirtier,. It is because it is steel cased it doesn't seal as quickly in the chamber when fired, and a little more powder residue comes back into the action of the pistol.
I have done this for every gun I own good advice, will you be doing a video with the g2c showing if it can handle sustained firing (ammo isn't easy to find right now) but it would be a good proof of product reliability from the g2c....
Thank you. I would love to do that. I just dont have the money right now and the cost of 9mm is so high. But I agree, that would be useful, and I would love to do it.
Does it seem to you that they fattened the grip on the g3? The grip on the g2c fits my smaller hand better but not sure I like the narrow trigger blade.
Actually it is slightly different. Thanks for bringing this up. I am going to do a short video showing the slight differences. Stay tuned for the video. I am going to record it today and post it next week. But yeah, very slight differences that could make a difference in comfort for someone with smaller hands. Might make it more comfortable for someone with larger hands...... I appreciate the input. Thanks for watching.
Great information I have a question just bought the G2c and while messing around with it when the slide is locked open it is very hard to press the slide release to get it to release will that get easier as I break it in

I also am new gun owner and really appreciate your video makes me feel confident learning how to maintain Taurus ! Thank you
You are welcome 👍
You know your channel is popular when they put a bunch of adds in it. Keep them coming !
Lol. I don't know exactly how they determine the ads. Thanks. I will try my best.
Enjoy all your video's ,im getting my G3C almost and can not wait. I watch all you video's as it teach me alot. Thanks alot
Great to hear, thank you!
You just taught me how to clean my pistol, I was literally cleaning my G3c while watching your vid step by step. Very detailed information, thanks for the lesson my friend 😊
Cool. No prob 👍
I just got my g2c yesterday and soon has I got home I oil it check it just like your video Your video is always amazing Spot on 😁thank you sir.
Right on! I hope you enjoy your pistol. I have a lot of content on these guns. Check my Taurus playlist if you are interested.
I would say keeping in mind that motor oil. In good for guns would be good in survival apocalypse
Thank you for this very informative video. I just purchased a Taurus G3c, and I will definitely use your method of break in.
Cool 👍 No prob
Just got my first carry and it's a Taurus G2C .40. Your video was very informative and I can't wait to get to the range this weekend after workin 80 🤣
Cool👍 Enjoy . I work all the time too. Almost literally. I hear you.
Do they come in .45
Perfect like how you explained everything.
👍
I took the trigger out and cleaned it and it made a difference.
👍
Thank you from the " newbie gun owners" :)
I just installed the +1 extension from Lakeline LLC on my G2s, they are nice also Galloway precision makes a +1 extension.
Cool. I have the Galloway +1 extension. Going to do a vid with it soon.
@@2aEdu the only thing i don't like about the one from Lakeline is its open in the back and you can see the spring and yellow follower, which can get pocket lint or dirt inside of the magazine well. Kind of wish i bought the one from Galloway now
Thank you, very good presentation and will come in handy when I get my new g3c.
Glad it was helpful!
But thanks!
I'm glad my video helped. The G3c is a great little pistol. I have several videos on it. Check my Taurus playlist.
@@2aEdu Will do! Thanks again!
Awesome video brother thank you! My wife and I have 2 new g serries and we're both noobs. This helped a ton along with several of your other videos.
No prob 👍 I hope you enjoy them.
I use motor oil. If it’s good enough for the super close tolerance in an automobile engine it’s good enough for my gun. And a quart will last a long time
You are hands down the best you tuber I have seen. Wish you were next door!
Thank you so much. I'm just a guy who loves guns. Hanging out with you all on here. If we were next door that would be cool. But at least we can hangout on the computer or phone screen. lol
Just discovered your channel. Excellent explanation and demonstration. Thanks for the help. Subscribed!
Thank you!
Excellent video Thank-you. My G3C is oiled properly.
Glad it helped
Ya doing a good job for advise, some wont go along with all of it, but to each their own....I've used "Marvel Mystery Oil" Red and Black label. Some call it a top oil, used in engines... After the first 100 rds I switch to "Hoopes" cleaner, oil and solvent...
Thanks man. I like Marvels Mystery Oil too.....for all kinds of stuff actually. Yeah, some won't do all of it and some won't do any of it. lol I'm trying to give a newer gun or pistol owner some place to start.
Oil slings off
I use a grease called Pro-Gold
Very sparingly
Do not dry fire "Stryker Fired" guns.
Pull slide rear quarter inch then pull trigger to let down Stryker it will move a shorter distance and not build up the speed. I had a Stryker smash and peen seized in slot until slide would not close under recoil spring pressure. Removed Stryker and filed the peened spot. This was in
a Canik TP9.
These pistols are fine to dry fire. I have thousands of times.
Just subbed, I like your style. Fired my G2c for the first time yesterday. Very satisfied so far.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@2aEdu You're welcome.
Hey! thanks for sub, love your channel love what you do man! 2a is for everyone and now more then ever people need that EDUCation! love the g2 pistols as well always been great for me!
No prob. Thanks man. i appreciate it. Yeah I like to hang out and teach both newer shooters ( we need more of them), as well as get into the details for long time gun/ 2a people. I have fun and like to hang out, and maybe teach someone something too. 2a rights are also my focus. Yeah love my G2/G3 pistols as well. Seems like Taurus has finally got on the right track with these newer models.
Just have fun with your channel and do what you like and be yourself. It takes little while to get used to the camera and not get nervous. But most regular people like genuine normal people doing vids. Don't try to be a "pro". Just have fun. If it isn't fun, you wont want to do videos. If you are having fun, the viewers will enjoy too.
What is your favorite gun cleaner? What type of brush is best to clean the gunk out of the chamber?
I make my own cleaner. I will add it to my video idea list. A round brush is fine. Or a wet patch on the end of a plastic pick works too.
@@2aEdu Thanks
I am new to your channel and in fact I just subscribed to it! Awesome video and advice! Very well done and I am awaiting the arrival of my brand new G2C any day now. Keep up the awesome video and I will be recommending to my friends to check you out!
Awesome! Thank you! I really like the G2C 👍
Thanks for the interesting video sir. I am an experienced shooter but I just bought my first striker fired
handgun. It was a Taurus G3C and you taught me some things i did not know about them.
Liked....Subbed.....Rang of the Bell
Glad I could help. Thank you!
i just purchase a speed loader. Best investment for loading your mag ever. Its so easy its actually fun to do.
I'm old enough to remember when hand guns came with them.
Well said and very informative!
Chris
Thank you.
Excellent video and thanks for sharing good info
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
Very good videos you make, thanks for the lessons
Hey brother
I just recently aquired the G3C and today I tried HSM Remanufactured 147 grain flat nose full metal jacket.
But yes, this seems to be a common issue with Taurus 9's.
,,,good info on the spring striker assembly lubrication precautions.
I've been using Lucas Power Steering fluid for my guns.
Cool. Glad it was useful. PW steering fluid is probably good. It is a very thin oil.
Thank you
Best gun guy on the net!
Thank you!
@@2aEdu Thank you! Seriously you’ve taught me and saved me money.
You couldn’t possibly tell me the length of the rail on the Taurus G3c could you? I need 1.25 inches between notch and trigger guard
You advertise a friend's product for extended magazine,
I just acquired a 17 round magazine. Need to buy a spacer for the g2. Does he have a u tube channel. I did see him showing his product on a u tube .
Bloody Wheels He has a YT channel too
doesnt dry fireing hurt the fireing pin? or does something with the restrike make it not so bad?
It doesn't hurt the G2C. It has a spring loaded striker(firing pin) on some guns especially many rimfire it is bad with no snap caps. But with these Taurus pistols it is fine.
d you please look down the grip handle of the G3c and give me your thoughts on the mag release pin/spring. the glocks. is incased but not on the tarus, mine popped out.
The mag release and spring work in the same exact way on the G3c and Glock. I have never had it pop out on any of my Taurus.
I noticed one thing you may want to pass on to your viewers. I get to every site and unsubscribe and immeadiately subscribe again. It's a nusiance!
Well as always,
Best to ya',,,,!
@@walterminer4990 Thanks man. TH-cam hates gun channels. It sucks! I will try to let people know.
invaluable information thank you
You are welcome 👍
I have a question you may be able to answer. Will a sig p226 magazine follower work in a g2c magazine body. I think the 226 magazine has a better engineered follower. More of an anti tilt design. I’ve seen some g2 magazines have some nose diving issues when fully loaded with certain ammo types.
I have used the complete Sig226 magazines in these guns in the past. I know that is not *exactly * the question but just putting it out there.
Thank You Sir
We appreciate You
Thanks for all this awesome helpful info! Clear and thorough * Cheers mate - Jeep
No problem 👍 Thanks man.
TY for posting this. Subscribed.
Thank you 👍
I've been told that the Russian ammos are very dirty and harder
to clean and look forward to hear from you about the matter.
Well done!
I've never owned a handgun. Is the g2c a good choice for my first edc and home defense choice?
There are many good choices for a first gun. I have had many viewers say they bought the G2C as their first gun and are very happy with it.
Thanks!
No problem! Thank you for the tip!
Thank you.
Great information I have a question just bought the G2c and while messing around with it when the slide is locked open it is very hard to press the slide release to get it to release will that get easier as I break it in
Thanks. Yes the mag spring is very stiff. Pull the slide back slightly while pressing the release and it will go right down
@@2aEdu awesome thanks 👍
Awesome advice an tips keep it coming.. ❤️
Thank you! Will do!
Amazing. Going to do this to my gun
Thanks for this video
No problem
I havnt took my g2c out to the range so I'm get sum gun butter and get it lubricated and then hit the range about 3 days after that
Sounds good. Good luck👍I hope you like it.
Hello I have an issue with the g3c and hollow points not cycling properly. I recently bought the barrel and compensator from Lakeline and the point keeps getting hung up on the feeding ramp. Do you have any suggestions or tips?
Great info. thank you!
