I'm glad to see you not completely trashing these old boats. Because most of us want to be sam holmes and not lavagabond
Let's see one of these videos on NBJS Eric Andrea in Norway. That dude is nuts.
😂💯💯 so funny when they are in Greece and his girlfriend gets scared 🤣
I love that Sam is honest when he advertises stuff. He hated that green drink.
Yes, Sam is amazing. He makes huge trips on a budget. Fun stuff. He has skills.
Madison Boatworks low key, no porn, no drama. A nice couple living their best life and taking us along for the ride.
Sam has a great channel
Don't sponsor Sam if you're afraid of an honest review of your product, he'll let you know what he actually thinks about it.
Sam said he bought Pickled Herring off ebay for 12k 😂, then he did a haul out and rebuild(ish) before setting off.
He's resourceful, capable, and unflappable.
Are you madd ? Sam Holmes would never ever spend 20,000 dollars to buy a sailboat. He did not want to spend $80 dollars in a gondola trip with his girlfriend
Great video, thank you! One of my favorites, besides Alluring Arctic Sailing!
Check out Sailing Triteia. James and Rhonda are making a good go of it on a small, cheap boat he sailed from SoCal to Hawaii and is now in Australia.
Maybe the frenchman, or whoever did the atlantic crossing on a 23ft or something.
I think there was a group of guys who did it on some crummy catamaran, and were talking about seeing sharks while swimming
I think there's another guy who took a hobie to bahamas, maybe it was Sam
Nice vids
What weather app did you use to illustrate his crossing from Florida to the Bahamas?
New subscriber. For the last year, I've been planning to buy a boat and learn to sail. Sam and Delos make me want to sail. You make me want to forget the whole thing. Maybe that's a good thing?
I'm located in reality, Sam is great, feels is great, but those are highlight reels, in the bonus dvd
@@ChasingLatitudes Yes mate. Your reality is the reason you're the only sailing channel I sub to. You're doin it right.
@@tomu2858 Thanks my man
Sam definitely deserves the best. We should all try to be more like him.
I've never seen a dude drill so many holes in his boats. The water logged Hobie was my favorite. 🔥
Same
So happy to see you covering Sam. I saw his Pacific crossing to Hawaii in about 2020 when I bought my first sailboat (1985 Bayfield 29’), having zero experience but i lived on it for two years and was obsessed with Sam’s channel. My boat was a junker, but I only gave $10K for it. I had a blast and it got me out of Texas. I almost had kittens when I saw Sam sailing right by my boat in the ICW in Fort Pierce. lol! Good times. Keep up the great work, man. I’ve watched your channel almost as long as Sam’s.
--So what if he spent 2 weeks crossing the Pacific?
--So what if his rudder broke?
--So what if he continued without it?
--So what if he waited to accepted a tow, until he was just outside the harbor, from someone who was headed there anyway?
-No big deal, boss.
--Could've happened to anybody!
Love Sam's channel, he seems honest. He was also given a boat in Florida. He sailed it without doing any refits. I think it was either stolen or moved off its nooring ball ar some point. I dont know what the current status is of that boat.
Another great breakdown of the yacht, Pickled Herring is a bit small for me
I think Sam got some sponsors in some way. Inside the "Picklet Herring" there are several company names like: Lewmar, TEMO, YakBitz and Rolly Tasker. I can't remember that Sam ever bought sails for "The Picklet Herring" from Rolly Tasker. NBJS, Erik Aanderraa have bought new sails at Rolly Tasker.
Drake Paragon would def be worth a review. My fav. Years of great content. Bermuda nightmare is a great starting point.
I will take a look
@@ChasingLatitudes Thanks. He has a nice Westsail 42 which he sailed to Greenland.
That was absolutely awesome, thanks Chris! 😂
He’s a legend I’ve been watching him forever - I singlehanded my Pearson Vanguard around the Pacific back in 2000 for a few years - but SAM is the real deal! 👊🏻⛵️
He is super cool
I was like what's TNA... better not look it up on my work computer ✔️
I have questions about the briefcase of cash in the hurricane cleanup.
Great video.
Yes, he is a great dude ! 👍😎
Didn't he get the Cape Dory for free? I believe he did and Good for him!
You should definitely check out Far Reach Voyages. That dude is something serious.
Another great video!
Sam Holmes is awesome
Talk about
No Fear
Really enjoy your videos & your sense of humor ✌️
Hey Chris, I really enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming! FD
Just watched Sam's channel on the Hobie 16 crossing. Did you notice they didn't even bother with PFDs? Subscribed.... lol
Love this guy! He’s my favorite solo sailor! With honorable mentions going to NBJS and Garret’s Adventures
Do NBJS, that Viking is a total Sea Beast
Sams kool !
Always pretty chill.
Straightforward calm sailor. Good chuckles too 😂
Sam showed in a video that sponsors send him tons of stuff, he says its mostly junk😂 he's a cool dude doing cool stuff
Been watching Sam,more into refitting and restoring channels. I am thinking about sailing somewhere where the 40-50 ft vessels are cheaper and refitting is less.
60 gallons of water? That's enough for 4 months, if it doesn't rain.
Review Erik Aandera from NBJS
I second that
I unsecond it. Wait till he actually gets somewhere.
@@smokingkippers1173 somewhere like Iceland or Greenland single-handed?
Sam is awesome.
Sam has my favorite YT sailing channel. He is such a likeable guy who sails on the cheap, knows how to repair almost anything and has sailed some great journeys. His charm tends to land him "a girl in every port" but his current Norweigan gf seems to have him entranced, at least for now. I was concerned though when he sailed to Hawaii that his 23 foot boat didn't have enough boyancy to stay afloat with his giant brass balls. The only negative critique I have is that he sailed across the Atlantic without a dingy or emergency life raft to keep him out of the water and provide a much higher chance of rescue if his sailboat sank.
damn Straight! thanks for the review
Another one to review sailing yacht Florence.
I second that
Sam is so cheap, he doesn’t fix leaks, he use his manual pump every morning to empty his bilge. He is also a great sailer
Love the dude. He is nuts.
Could you review "Sailing Liberty"?
Do one on Sailing One Life
Sam and Wind Hippy also film AND edit their videos on iPhones!
thats awesome
Another epic intro
Glad you reviewed Sam Holmes. I’ve been binge watching him float the flaming trash dumpsters for the last 6 months. He’s a sailor. The gal that accompanied him on the Hobiecat episodes is IMO the best T&A any sailboat channel has offered.
If she can do that in a sea-kindly fashion , I care little about the TA thing. Keeps my bowsprit aloft.
Sam is Sven approved.
Can you review the "O'kelly's"!!!
I second that
Check out Sailing Nandji.
The video title has a typo. "HOLES" instead of "HOLMES".
@@LongStep fair
😎
Isn’t it HolMes?😂
He drills so many holes in his boat - it's a joke
Sorry, wasn’t in on it. 🫣
I like Sam's channel but, if I were a person searching for a place to promote my product, his channel wouldn't be on my list. The dude is kinda unfair with on products he recieves from companies. Last time I saw him complaining about a new winch that he received from Lewmar, it wasn't working properly. Every fine product without the necessary maintenance won't work forever.
True
you are getting too soft and sentimental 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Sam Holes...hehehehehehe...
The hole of Sam
Because T&A sells.... men! 😂
that checks out
@@ChasingLatitudes please review Alluring Arctic Sailing. They are awesome!
You should at least spell his name correctly. How did Holmes become Holes? Freudian slip?
he puts more holes in a boat than any i have ever seen, it was a play on words
@@ChasingLatitudes Damn. Point made, good sir. He famously fixes half his problems by drilling more holes in his boat and the wordplay still went right over my head.
I hope u do my channel when I start it next year 😊.
might happen ;)
