In Alaska back in the 70's I helped a guy build a 40 foot Trimaran in his back yard to sail around the world even though he had never been sailing in his life. It took him 5 years and I learned a lot about boats helping him. He finally finished it and put it in the water in the harbor in Anchorage Alaska to motor it to Seattle to have the mast and rigging installed. @rw2578 but I lay that all out in each video, i show comparable vessels, prices, breakdowns and show other people options they may not have known they have. @@ChasingLatitudes I like your channel interesting information to anyone would be. 10k 20k 30k 100k and so on. How much actual cash would I expect to loose after 5 or 6 years. Never mind any TH-cam channel because they have very different agendas. Other skills that some have.. Mechanical electrical and so on how important ? They would probably know but its all they could afford at that time. Imagine I wanted to sail so much but 5k is all I had.. Imagine I would love to have 100k to invest or lets say spend.
Nice couple and I wish them all the best. A few things..... SGBU is no longer a sailing channel and hasn't been for a while. Their channel needs to be renamed. As you know, Matt is a hard working son of a gun...I always admired his work ethic but always wondered what the hell the Princess was doing while Matt was alone digging ditches all day long. ( editing videos obviously) Other sailing channels show the ladies getting their hands dirty right alongside their men folk......sanding and painting away. Not her....And whats up with the gangsta hand smacking while she talks? I won't comment on the whole bikini issue that helped kick off their channel...works for all the TH-camrs with hot bikini babes. Some, like Sailing Doodles, build an obviously very successful business pimping enhanced gals in bikinis. Best of luck to them both. Maybe they will actually get back into sailing someday.
@@ChasingLatitudes Yea...I'm sure you're right. Kinda sad after Matt put so much work into his boat. Looks like he did a decent job of it too. Oh well....moving on...
Not sure the reason for the criticisms, most people dont do the same stuff forever. If all you want to watch is sailing then when someone stops sailing you wont watch them anymore. However if the people captivate you then youll prob watch whatever they do next. Really dont understand the criticisms of the thorny route, cruising is about touring and visiting new places, very different to getting from A to B with a yacht delivery. Starting to come across as condescending.
What criticism ? of them ? you realize I'm literally friends with them right? Did you even watch the video or did you just hear what you chose to hear so you could be upset ? I explained in detail why the thorny path sucks, you've clearly never sailed it or you would also know why it sucks, 6ooo people watch this video so far and your the only one out of 6000 who felt this way
I did watch the video, all of it, I usually enjoy your videos. You are correct, I havnt sailed the Thorney route, I have been to some of the places, and know a few people who have sailed some of them too. I don't need to have sailed it to find your opinion of sailing past everywhere condescending. Like I said, cruising anywhere is not about getting from A to B, its completely different to yacht deliverys, it's about visiting and experiencing new places and the people that live there, whether they are expensive or not. I would find it interesting, how many of the 6000 viewers would agree and sail past every island, compared to how many would find visiting them interesting.
@@colmidge All good my man, if you felt the video was condescending or if you would like to stop a bunch of places in the Bahamas fantastic, do what's best for you, I skip the Bahamas due to cost but always do what fits your needs not mine

Always get the boat for yourself, considering I'm friends with the people in the video it's not critical of them, just the boats bit I still state it's worked perfectly for them, I'm a delivery capt, I sail full time and have a vast amount of knowledge with boats, i criticize the boats but always show comparable, the bottom line is that if you actually invested the cost of bkat repairs you can make a better informed choice
Worked on ships and trawlers and sea sickness is a ? No matter how expensive the boat. Simple fact is no one at all will know if this lifestyle would be for them and its not quitting anything at all... Would be absolutely stupid to keep on doing anything that makes you less happy at some point. Couple of children come along a person might just need a bigger home. Might decide its time to live closer to a school a hospital. You have a great channel and I am a fan...You help people.. I have things I do well but I'm sure I could learn more understand more.
I would advise no one at all to buy a trash can.. I would put it like this. People seeing your channel might not enjoy being told that their own boat is a trash can.. They would probably know but its all they could afford at that time.
Imagine I wanted to sail so much but 5k is all I had.. Imagine I would love to have 100k to invest or lets say spend.
I stopped clicking on any sailing channels with bikini clickbait, because they all suck, even with volume off lol
Ha
Hey Chris, didnt know that guy of 'lady k sailing had another youtube channel called 'practical sailor' wonder who he copied that from lol
They for some reason made him the voice of their channel, seems wild to me as the guy is a complete moron
@@ChasingLatitudes something else not his work then lol
I dont see sailing in their future, the boat they had is basically jsut a rotting mess at this point
@@ChasingLatitudes Yea...I'm sure you're right. Kinda sad after Matt put so much work into his boat. Looks like he did a decent job of it too. Oh well....moving on...
Yeah
Loved their channel, but not too many bikini pics in the jungle... lol
Brother this is seriously old news
People who buy these boats are crazy
True
👏👏👍👍❤❤
Did you pronounce faux as "faucks?" You know it's pronounced "foe," right? You were making the funnies?
My funnies dont always land ;)
