I have had the chance to meet and work with some of the people involved in this film. You can definitely see the love, commitment, and passion that they put into every project they do. Felicidades, Amazing job!
Finally we get a short that has a plot and dialogue. This was really good. The androids were training and training and soon began to long for what wasn't being trained. They went looking and found what was and one of them was underwhelmed... just like humans.
@@derek_vr_romrellThis was exceptional! Now left with questions. Like, were these the only two? How far to the nearest mall? Lily's message sent to SagA and at least one other star system - Why? Known human colonies? Hopefully human colonies? This would make an excellent pilot episode if you want to explore the prior that led humanity's extinction, or what comes of Adam's disappointment with their reality. One last thing, Lily was hearing gulls, and we didn't see any. Was she just playing the tape in her head, or did she really hear gulls and they were just out of our sight? If just in her head, the virus killed the birds too? Tons of questions... but excellent short film.👏😁👍
This was by far the best short movie that i have seen here. This is just perfect. It has such a creativity, very similar to 60s and 70s sci fi. Thank you for this.
My thought was they were actually human and the whole battery level e-ink display and needing to charge thing was just to keep them dependent on the computer and the facility until they were ejected like fledglings. I like to think that they discovered their "battery" never runs flat, that they aren't actually over 200 years old.
This was a thought-provoking short!! It says to me, that when we sit in our comfort, we tend to want to know what else is out there. That something that soarked our interest, we want to experiment it! But when it is time to actually live the famtasy, we retreat into our comfort zone! That is what I got out of it because it is so relatable to me! 😢😢❤🎉
Very enjoyable; great cinematography, acting and direction. Liked the birth passage shot at the end. Thanks for posting and hope you continue to make quality work like this. Cheers!✌🏻
This short was superbly done and both of the actors brought an amazing restraint to their brilliant performances! Great script and thought provoking plot!
Hello Mr. Romrell, Great story, I enjoyed it tremendously. After the extinction of the human race. I think it apropos that you decided to name the androids Adam and Lilly, As in the first man and woman from the bible, although the story of Lilith (Lilly) being Adams first wife stems from various Jewish and Pagan folklore. Albeit the basis of a (second) First Man And First woman was not lost. It also did not escape me that "Adam and Lilly" were "designed" to eventually venture out and become individuals on their own, hence, in my thought process it hinted at the possibility of the start of a new world.
🟦…If that were true then Alter would have prepared him for what it was going to be like without Altar,.. but that Didn't happen!... ...Imao I think he's been left a bit ill-equipped to survive without certain amenities that he's had access to all his life. ... Is Alter just going to send him to live in the woods and hope that he somehow figures out a way to nourish himself?
Excellent film! And it’s nice to see a film that is not simply a dissertation on how well the director/editor can use Unreal Image or other VFX software. Brilliant work.
The longing for better times is a paradox. How can we preserve the legacy of a past that we never experienced? Perhaps it is the unfulfilled emptiness that keeps us clinging to the idea that it was once better, even though it never was for us.
When birds get pushed out of the nest some of them fail to fly and wind up smashed on the ground. I'd say with a defective battery and no more charger, that android is one dead baby bird.
Very well done, especially as it leaves you wondering what happened in the end. Did he err in going back and get shutdown or did he leave and go back to the beach? The Jolson song adds to the mystery.
I can say satisfied!. And I can imagine more stories like this ... I just need some animation worker/graphic designer who would do it for free as open source project ❤🎉

So I am confused, Altar was supposed to make them want to leave but without the Altar/home they can't charge themselves, or did they even need to charge themselves. but still very good
It Seemed, the battery indicators on their arms were fake. That they had all energy they needed But upon being told they needed a recharge, tied them down to experience the freedom that would take them- beyond it all
Hi Derek, congrats. Nice acting, no doubt. Particularly interesting intimate message. The amazing onyx sands of the beaches of Benijo and the recognizable 'cambric shadow' of one of the jewels belonging to the Anaga Biosphere Reserve. Can it be so, maybe?. Enjoyable 19:55 work in any case. 👍
Very nicely done. Both a story and good acting. Tough to react but not react as an actor. ;-) Nit picking things - how can road be there outside the lift after humans have been gone so long? Perhaps an animal path would have made more sense. And in general Aspen trees are not near the sea. If that was indeed and Aspen stand.
