So I'm watching this on my OnePlus Open and I've got lots of thoughts because I also have the Zfold 5 sitting on my bedside table. And to be clear I love both phones and even though I definitely don't need both I don't regret buying either of them. But if I had to choose just one to keep it would be the Zfold 5. Part of the reason is that I have the beginnings of arthritis in my thumbs so yes I can type one handed on the Open but it's not a pain free experience the way it is with the Zfold. Arthritis really sucks. As far as looks go I tend to agree with you that the Open looks better but I like the Zfold as well. It definitely has a more subtle design. For me, where the Open is the clear winner is the camera hardware. I have no problem with the main lens of the Zfold 5, I've taken some awesome pictures with it, but the other lense the Open wins and it's not even a contest. I've been super impressed with the periscope lens of the Open. But where Samsung wins, again, for me, is the software. Yeah the Open does multitasking better, but everything else Samsung does better imo. OneUI just has so many features that are important to me. Like modes and routines that let me automatically change settings depending on where I am without me having to do anything after setting it up. So for example when I get to work work mode kicks in and it goes into power saving mode and DND with only my favorite contacts able to get through. That's such an amazing experience for me. Anyway great video.
I also have both. I was going to trade my fold5 in for a slab phone, but I'm having second thoughts now that the novelty of the oneplus open experience is over. Trade in value at oneplus's own site is even lower than the same spec'ed samsung fold5 512. Now I only paid 150.00 plus oneplus 11 trade in for the Open so I'm not really complaining. But I bet trade in value on my Fold5 for the fold6 and oneplus Open 2 will be much higher than for my Open.
traded my s23 Ultra on the One Plus Open. I loved it until I didn't. I was watching a video in the kitchen. I closed the phone and walked to my living room. I opened the phone and it had lines all over it. I called One Plus and shipped it in for repairs. They received it 1-19-2024 as of today 2-29-2024 I haven't heard from them. I emailed and chatted and they keep saying someone will get in touch with me. Like I said the phone is great until it isn't. They're warranty and repair is horrible. They're communication for repairs is beyond horrible.
I had the open and f fold 5 since launch but kept the fold 5 even though i agree with everything you said. Trying to think back why haha! What we need is an s24 ultra vs vivo x100 pro vs oppo find x7 ultra comparison! I know the s24 will lose but by how much. That oppo...the cameras on that thing are absolutely crazy
I have a zfold 5 and the screen split after just 4 months. Brand new. I've had the 3 and 4 never had an issue over 1k flips. Love the phones but not sure why the split. The upgrades where due to insurance not replacing them. They had no replacement and I got a check. I broke the 4 with it in my back pocket falling on ice

I bought OnePlus Open during prebooking, used it for 2 months and traded it for a Z Fold 5, here's my opinion: OnePlus Open is definitely the best Comprehensive Foldable offering out there with a 68W charger in the box and a flimsy but protective case and preapplied screen protector; Bigger Cover Screen makes you want to open your phone a lot less with a comfortable one hand usage, Seemless bigger internal display with a full functional front camera, although the no ugly punch hole camera on the internal display was enough reason to settle for non usable internal camera; I personaly loved the OnePlus Canvas implementation, truly redesigns how we multitask, but hate the little to no control over the size of individual apps during multitasking; Pretty hardcore camera setup, definitely more vibrant than Samsung's; Love that vegan leather finish although not sure about thermal dissipation but found little to no significant difference between not having a glass back apart from while charging; Mixed feelings for the the dial style CHUNKY non symetrical camera setup, Samsung does feel vanilla, could have made tastier with S23U setup; Much louder and immersive speakers on the OnePlus, Found less app restarts on switching between screens due to different aspect ratio than in Samsung.. it's really annoying on the Samsung (feed on ig, finance apps, etc.) Samsung has so much more options with what a phone should be able to do apart from the fact that it doesnt have an IR blaster like the OnePlus, but features like Dex, able to build Samsung Ecosystem- Watch, Buds & TV, Wireless Powershare, Secure Folders, Maintenence Mode, SPen and a Sturdier Hinge and Better Build inspires more confidence (but at the cost of being heavier, especially with case) and did incline me to switch and stay with Samsung.

The OnePlus is just a phenomenal device. It is a pleasure to use no matter which orientation you choose to use it. I'm a big S Series Samsung fan but they have some work to do with the foldable. They didn't have anyone giving them a race to run, now they do and I expect they are hard at work for the 6. Big shoutout to OnePlus for the direction they are going in. Can not wait to see the official launch of the 12 series on Tuesday, they have been putting in the work.

Watching this on my fold 5. I love the fold five but I have Samsung bias. But I want you to know Samsung makes oneplus screens and Apple screens. Literally Samsung is the king of displays which is why their tvs are always best rated so I do think it's humorous that you say the one plus has a better display when, if anything, they are exactly the same
i upgraded from fold 3 to fold 5, oneplus lacking the water resistance was the thing that made the decision. also i disagree with oneplus having better design. the gigantic camera looks terrible. fold 5 simply looks more premium and expensive, because it is. with fold 3 my warranty had ended and i broke the large screen, samsung still fixed it for free. how can you use a phone that can not endure water? i can use fold in a pool with no worries. dropped my water resistant fold 3 in a lake once and it was allright. Do the same with oneplus and you'd be looking for a new device and warranty is void in that case.
Water resistant phones were never a thing, people took care of their shit. After using the One plus open and the Fold 4 i will NEVER buy another Samsung. One plus is such a better phone and cheaper if i buy another Samsung i would legit feel like an idiot

I love my z fold 5 and I have super large hands. Z fold 5 will last longer because of support and updates. You can't beat all the features you get on the fold 5
I would love to buy these fold but nobody ever talks about how much it will cost to replace the inside screen considering it's the main part I worry the most if it breaks for failed. Maybe it cost too much, maybe it's not replaceable, etc why nobody ever talks about it or shows TH-cam videos on how to replace it. Big red flag IMHO.
I don't get it.... I've only heard one TH-camr (not a major one) mention that the Huawei Mate X5 is water AND DUST RESISTANT. Look it up it's true. This is a big deal!

I disagree! I have both and if I had to choose one it would be the Zfold 5. Both are great devices don't get me wrong. But for me the Zfold 5 has the better software and I like the size of the outside screen 🤷
@@joshuabergeman354 it's all personal preference. I have both too and on the software, you maybe have a point but that outside display is too narrow on the Z Fold 5. If Samsung doesn't improve on that outside display on the Z Fold 6 they will lose customers imo. My Pixel Fold, my V2 and my Mix Fold 3 all have better, more usable outside displays than the Samsung. Just my opinion though.

It does for me too on video but if I compare it live to OP 7T Pro and OP 11 something doesnt sound right on Fold5 even if its still the best foldable for me. If Honor hardware had Samsung software that would be perfect match for me.
