Thanks for the great video! Been happy Samsung Note user around 5 years and been waiting years for Fold to arrive in this format. It never came and now I am a happy Oneplus Open user. Was waiting for Honor V2 also but they're too late.
100% correct about samsung taking the mick, the same phone for 3 years, no charger, no case just a new SOC each time, oneplus has done a brilliant job, they've made a phone with the right aspect ratio that's bigger than my zfold4, but because it's so light and thin it seems somehow smaller. Great video dad.
I traded my Fold 4 for this and don't regret it. Now the 6 may be amazing and I'll go back. But Samsung went mediocre
Most of the competition already studied the OnePlus hardware well. Samsung is currently "reverse engineering" the top Huawei foldable(!), to try figure out how to make a thinner fold..😮 So next year will be interesting.
Fold 5 still gives you the most polished experience

I concur with you as much as I can. While I only have the Vs as my comparison model but with having all my other foldables as well I like the Open by far. Once again this might not be the case once the global V2 drops but that is months away.
As someone who has the OnePlus Open and for who that is the first foldable it's definitely a awesome first experience. That being said I really want Samsung to make a Zfold with a similar aspect ratio on the outside screen. That's literally the only thing keeping me from getting the Zfold since OneUI is my preference by a huge margin. Maybe one of the other Chinese brands could give me all the things OneUI does but with all the other drawbacks of importing a Chinese brand other than OnePlus I just don't think I can do it.

I agree with you as far as Samsung. That's the reason I didn't upgrade my fold 3 to the 4 or 5. I'm loving my Oneplus Open! Right now my fold 3 has no audio when open,and my wife's fold 3 won't fully open. Samsungs customer service is giving us the craziest run around as far as repairs and replacements after paying for the care package monthly . The only thing I will miss is dex and the tracking feature for video/video calls. As we speak I'm here trying to repair my fold 3 myself 😑....

I am literally on the same spot as you were 2 months ago when making this comment. Still with my F3, with a broken inner screen and refused warranty change. So now I just have to figure out how to get the Oppo pen imported... Samsung and apple can sell phones to their sheep with the unnovation that they are doing.

I bought a open and have it on 2 Sim with Google fi and Verizon, working great. I heard it has usbc video out also, going to test it tonight on my nreal glasses. Tested and video out works on the one plus for the nreal now xreal. I have had the fold 2, 4, and 5 so it made me nervous to switch. So far though the open does everything the fold did, and it seems easier programming wise to set up and link to things.

I have my vivo xfold 2 and I believe is an amazing machine.. I truly believe that xfold 3 will be the next year with the likes of 1+ which I love btw. So next year my take will go with one of these 2.unless a rollable comes out
Does the OnePlus open still feel like a brick when folded? I really hate my zfold 5 for this matter and two months in using it and still unable to get used to that! Not sure if a wait for honor v2 international edition is worth it or just trade in my zfold5 for the OnePlus open!

Just wanna say found your channel recently, and the contents been really helpful. im still stuck between what fold i want. but very helpful. Would rather the Honor V2 but android auto is a must for me. One plus for me was always a miss with the camera which i use alot, samsungs ......... just feel like they dont inovate as much as they should for having the only 5th gen fold.

I have heard different Things about the hinge now. One TH-camr trashes the hinge on the Honor and say the Oneplus is better and now the other was around.

I agree with you on the onplus open being the best, but the fold5 smokes the pixel fold on processor alone! Less visible crease and folds flat am9ng other things. Otherwise, great comparison!

Is the magic v2 you reviewed running a China ROM? I played with one just today and I can tell you the experience is great with no hacks or anything special needed to run Google stuff like play store and Gboard.

I completely agree with the Samsung rant! I have a fold three and was hoping the fold five would be much more like the OnePlus open. I'm holding out to see if the fold 6 will finally have a proper sized outer screen and less of a crease (not to mention better cameras), but if not I will for sure be getting the OnePlus open/open 2!!!! Samsung better get the fold 6 right!

Thanks for the review. I am watching this on the Oneplus Open, it is a far better device than the Honor. The honor has a poor software, heating issues, the hinge is by far not as good etc. Also the displays are of previous generations. Samsung however is still king on foldable software by far.

OnePlus Open is getting some extraordinary praise. This is fascinating how OnePlus got it right with the first attempt at a foldable. The next OnePlus Open foldable release should be a highly anticipated one. An anticipated upgrade that can set another bar to be emulated. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾

Hi mate, really been enjoying your videos whilst contemplating getting a folding phone over the last few months!
Based on this I'm sorely tempted to go with the OnePlus Open, but I'm still on the fence as the total price I'd be paying for either that or the Magic V2 is around £1200 (student deals and coupons through OP, and WondaMobile for the Honor). I would normally steer clear of importing a China Only device, but based on the recent news of the Google Services update, I am extremely torn.
Now GS are available on the Magic V2 in their entirety, would you still go with the OP? My only real concern with it is the extra thickness, but buying it direct from OP rather than a secondary source for the Honor is another factor...

it seems the limitation on the horizontal multitask on the V2 depends on which app you're using, some are compatible with other, some aren't

100% agree with you about Samsung I have the zfold3 now but I'm going to upgrade to the One Plus open just waiting for it to become available on Verizon. If Samsung would have just made the screen bigger on the outside they would have been still King .

Good talk to Samsung. Everybody who has Zfold I have advice: Fold your Samsung and Open the Oneplus :D I had Zfold 4 and when 5 came out I did not change to it. For me there were absolutely no major changes. I waited little and learned about Oneplus Open and as soon as possible I paid deposit and preordered it, and it was bulls eye choice. Every thing is better, form factor, wider cover screen benefits less mistakes when typing, crease invisible, battery 24h including over 8 hours screen on, cameras, I compared all 3 main and in Open all had more details and less noise in poor light, clean google software, I remember it took half a day to remove Samsung apps which were replacements for google apps, and there still was some non-removable crap left with annoying notifications. Zfold is only winner in horizontal multiwindow, some apps do not want to take half of screen in Open and theres a big top bar taking a lot of space. I never used a pen and wireless charging so its not importaint for me. Maybe I will be missing my 3 smarttags which I cant use anymore.

I love my pixel 8 Pro & I love my Z fold 5. I really want to try this phone, and as a matter of fact I have ordered and canceled the OnePlus three different times because I just can't decide.... One of the things that made me cancel for now, was actually GregglesTV... 48 hours in. He doesn't seem as impressed.. but even more concerning, hes suddenly saying it feels too wide when it's opened where before he kept saying he wished the z-fold 5 was wider.. now he is saying the Fold 5 is better when opened.. so for now, I'll keep watching you and others and decide
The issue with Greggles is that he does not have a clue and is influenced by brands! get the OnePlus... you won't regret it

Interesting video, I'm in Hong Kong so it's just a short hop up to china to see the phone. It's a lot cheaper at just over 1000 quid. My main concern if it can use the full suite of Google products from a phone bought in china. Coming from Samsung I'm used to Samsung phones but this has got me converting.

As much as i wanted to try OnePlus or Honor foldables, I still just ended up buying the Z fold5. Samsung just provides the best discounts and trade in deals. I was able to get 25% off, $25 off, trade in my z fold3, get a free 512gb ungrade to get the z fold5 for only $575. Just can't beat that kind of deal. If anyone pays for the z fold5 full price in the US, they are doing something wrong.
Ok I have two unrelated comments.
1 Samsung have a 12 Megapixel camera because a 12 Megapixel sensor is better in low light, because the pixels capture more light.

I need expandable storage, a headphone jack, and a I.R Blaster, I travel a lot and as a photographer and I store photos from my
camera and
my phone ,
I also store movies and demonstration videos of my shoots.
I stay in hotels a lot and most hotels now charge extra for a remote control for your TV, if you have a I.R blaster you can control most TV,s from your phone 📱
So the folded format would be great but I am not prepared to pay HUNDREDS MORE for a phone because it has ab it more memory which I can't swap out.

Form factor..📱Does the extra 2mm make a difference..😅 Sorry couldn't resist..🤣🤣 But seriously, the square edges on e.g. iPhone 14 make it uncomfortable in hand compared to the rounded iPhone 15, making the latter an easy choice for many, is thatbthe case with the V2 vs the Open, or is the Open "comfortable" in hand #ergonomic

Looks like Honor should man up in global version with its software. Lack of horizontal split screen and front screen camera UI while taking selfies with main cameras should be possible to fix. Any leaks on global pricing of the V2?
