  • This is a simple solution on how to fix the front speakers and steering wheel controls not working with the Idoing head unit, on a 2017 Subaru BRZ
After hours of research I was finally able to figure out how to fix it. I got my head unit from WRXDAILY and like most people have experienced there's little to no instructions on how to install them
It seems these issues are very common and no one wants to talk about them. So I hope this video will save people time and hours of frustration on how to fix them.

It was so hard to find a video specifically for the 2017 limited models. Do you think you can do a full install.

    Hey man,
I’m having an issue with my radio. Connection is super weak, any idea to why that may be happening?

@@skxjohan check your radio connection make sure it's pushed in all the way, mine did the same thing until I double checked it

going to the end of the video where the dash trim piece does not fit.. are you able to remove the faceplate of the iDoing headunit so we can use the stock trim piece? could that be an option? I bought a carbon fiber trim piece and of course, it does not fit as the 2017+ headunits are slightly trapezoidal in shape and will not fit into the older style of dash trim. I'm hoping to remove the faceplate of the Idoing and "mount" it to the carbon fiber trim piece i have.
Please let me know! Super interested!

@@panda-mic I don't think that will work. The size/shape of the stock trim piece vs the Idoing trim are pretty different. You could certainly try though!

I had trouble with getting the top left corner of the head unit’s trim to pop in. Is there any way to make it work.

I didn't have any issues with it. Although it definitely takes a little force to get everything in properly. I would try getting the top in first then the bottom

Should I just buy an frs 2013 trim piece to circumvent the fitment issue?

    • @touchofturbo

I was able to cut the trim with no issues to get it to fit right. There's a section on the trim piece that has a line/indention on the back that I trimmed to that point and it fit perfectly. I believe it was added to fit the 2017+ model radios

@@touchofturbo I don't wanna ruin my original panel. I might as well try to find a similar color panel as I really do like the faux leather.
looking around it does seem like the older frs/brz panels can fit the later trims

@@keiseyku No doubt, I was able to pull the leather back, trim it, and re gule it with no issues. The trim has a line on the back that if you follow will line up perfectly and have the same curve.
I do believe there is a trim piece out there that's $40 that should fit. WRXDaily recommended it to me if I didn't want to modify mine

Hey man did u also had an issue with the sound because the oem sound a lot better and the Idoing made my bass feels weird like it’s not as it used to be

Yes! On the home screen there's an "equalizer" or sound setting section. I had to adjust it a bit
Turn the far left side up a bit, and the far right side up a bit to your liking. The other thing is there's a surround section as well. I turned that off and it immediately sounded a lot better.
      I hope this helps!

Save yourself the hassle and trouble and stay away from this company.
    - They ship incomplete products. (connector for reverse cam was missing)
    - They do not honour the warranty they claim to give you.
    - Their costumer support is flat out incompetent/fraudulent
I have been trying to get them to replace the missing connector for 2 weeks. But all i got from them was a lot of questions and requests for fotos in order for customer protection to expire. And then they told me to buy a 35USD CAN-Bus adapter from them in order to fix their own scew-up. (and that even though my car does not even have CAN connection to the headunit)
    In short: worthless criminal shit-company
