They’re not a good company, in my opinion, I’ll never buy from them again and I’ll let everyone know ever chance I get, to not bother with them.
My older Android 10 based Joying natively accepts resistance based steering wheel control signals. If your vehicle's steering wheel controls are analog, you should be able to wire it up without an adapter. If your steering wheel buttons are digital, then you would need an adapter. It's great being able to do things like play pause or skip to the next track from the steering wheel. I also use the up-down volume so I can pretty much operate my unit strictly from the steering wheel.
@MrHermangv If you can find a radio schematic for your year model, look to see if the steering wheel control uses two wires or one. My 2004 Navigator uses analog steering wheel buttons, but it goes into a module that converts it to a single wire going into the radio (digital signal). (This might be because there are secondary radio controls in the second row area) The 2004 Expedition (sister vehicle) doesn't have the module and has two wires going into it's radio (analog). This caught me off guard, but I was able to use an adapter so no big deal. I'm not familiar with the Excursion, but it's a similar year range. It could be either one.
Joying support is pretty good send then an email with a picture of you current head unit version (somewhere in settings) and they'll email you a link for the latest firmware/update. I had one in my WRX and it was overall great. Yes i understand your annoyances and there can be work around for most. I actually preferred using the amplifier output to the digital as at the time i didn't have a conductor.
I bought one of their 9" headunits for my car and its a damn bad experience. to fix anything with this unit you have to do da reset on the front panel just for it to work with anything you add. They do a lot of false advertising and their customer service si the worst. they take no accountability for the false advertisements, they say camera or steering wheel controls work and they don't! the work on certain models even though the advertise as it works. You email them about the steering wheel controls and rear camera doesn't work , just like their advertisement says these things will work wit h the plug and play kit, and it only works with certain models and don't say this in the ad, even though they sell you a plug and play kit with these features. their answer to things not working is " you're not happy? return!' but what about all the money spent to install and run and hide antennas, and a secondary fee to uninstall the unit and shipping to return the unit to china. I would think twice about this company just because of the customer service and the quality of the unit is not the greatest. WiFi works when it wants to, its just not worth the money in my opinion.
That doesn't seem crazy to me at all. The whole point of the digital output is to feed it into a DSP. Maybe this is the reason the digital output is so clean?
Need to connect the reverse wire on the loom, if your car had a OEM back up camera the wire may be behind the head unit, if it didn't, you should try to find a wiring diagram for your vehicle. Locate the reverse switch on the transmission and trace it back. You can usually find a spot in its route back to the ECU that's convenient enough to splice in for the head unit. Make sure to test it with test leads before you cut anything😁
For two weeks now i have also installed a Joying radio in my BMW E91. It replaced a Zenec radio which had strong background noise/interference.
