- Interior Designer Maria Crosby Pollard brings us inside her quaint and cozy home in Alexandria, Virginia.
For more extraordinary home tours, visit our website: homeworthy.com/
Built in the 1830’s, Maria’s Colonial home emerges as a vibrant tapestry of color, patterns and textures. Her background in decorative painting and drawing brings a unique flair to each of her designs. Maria affectionately refers to her style as “Early Attic”, an amalgamation of inherited and patinaed decor that intermingles with modern sensibility. As you step inside, you'll encounter captivating Malachite wallpapers, antique textiles, and cherished mementos from her childhood abode. Enjoy!

I’m so grateful that people open their home for all of us to enjoy.
Perfectly stated.
You and me. Enjoy
Thank you so much! I have a new appreciation for this as well. I had no idea how nervous and tongue tied I would be .It’s quite different than giving a rehearsed talk. I sure am grateful for the opportunity even if I’m not for everyone- Never have been 😊
Homeworthy is wonderful and so inspiring!
@@MariaCrosbyPollardyou did WONDERFULLY!!!! And your speaking voice is so soothing!! Thank you for allowing us to have a peak at what you’ve done with your home!!!!!
❤
Homeworthy, all the houses you've invited us into recently haven't gone unnoticed. You've been busy, and we as your audience appreciate the fruits of your labour in relicion all these glorious properties and the characters associated with their beauties. Thank you for sharing with us the luxuries, whimsical, and spellbinding homes!

She is so great at explaining how she solved issues while designing her home. I appreciate her expertise to turn not so great things like lack of light and low ceilings into positives so her family can live and enjoy the space. What a professional.
I love her “early attic” term. I really enjoyed hearing about her journey in design, and how family and friends have influenced what she uses in her home. Like her home, this designer seems very approachable, like someone I’d enjoy visiting with.
Lovely lady and home. I love Alexandria and the history, but I found her very difficult to listen to for so long. But I'm sure she gave it her best.
I just couldn’t finish this due to the constant “um” and ring twirling.
"Early attic" is working for that house. She has created such a beautiful home.
Homes are beautiful they are all designers! But they say Um 50 million times!!
I love this. The eclectic mix of inherited treasures, old finds, and new pieces is wonderfully curated, but appears in no way fussy or "studied." It's not dissimilar to how I live, so I felt an immediate connection to her home. I also commend her for embracing a wide and varied color palette, which is so unfortunately rare these days. I especially loved their wonderful collection of art and that bold kitchen floor. Wow... and Bravo!
I love your beautiful home. It is so cozy and welcoming. You have managed to make a home with all of your memories.I know I will watch this again to see what I missed. What a home full of beautiful treasures.
What a delightfully eclectic mix Maria has in her home. I love how she's pulled disparate, well loved pieces together into cohesively warm, unpretentious rooms.
Glad I watched till the end her warm and caring personality came out ,I think she truly loves what she does. She probably is used to her design being the center of attention not herself. Lovely home and host .
Its not boring! Its such a great use of color and bits and bobs without looking chaotic.. its fun! I love seeing all these homes. Theres always some inspiration to glean .
Eclectic and beautiful! It’s great that she includes the vintage and antiques and family pieces, even though she admits to lean towards modern. Lovely!
The workarounds she's done in an imperfect but perfect-for-them house are ingenious.
I used to live across the street at #216, we did the entire to the studs renovation in 2000. I had a design business in old town. Small world!
The dogs in this video are absolutely adorable! I love how they are sitting or sleeping in a different spot as the video goes on
My favorite episode so far!! Cozy home in a cozy neighborhood with cozy dogs. I love that they are allowed on the furniture. Love so much in this one!
Your home is so pretty and comfortable looking, not showroom ‘don’t touch anything” stiff. Love it and love your sweet dogs, we had a black/tan miniature. My husband was a UPS driver and knew all his customers by name. Thank you for showing us your lovely home.
loving the dachshunds especially, being owned by them myself. The house is much bigger than it initially looks.
Thank you so much for the beautiful tour of your home. It looks so cozy and comfortable. Love the mix of old and new, high and low.
Your kitchen is so pretty. I wouldn't redo it.
Very beautiful and eclectic home.
This might be my favorite Homeworthy tour yet! I love how personal her home is and everything in it has a story and meaning to the homeowner. It looks like such a welcoming a comfortable home!
❤
What a lovely home. Sounds like a lovely neighborhood as well. I like that it’s family friendly.
I think this is both my favorite home & host . She especially spoke to my goal of a home that is both organized & peaceful. Thank you for your hospitality.
❤
I just want to give a big shout out to the camera people. You do an amazing job. Thank you for taking your time as you show and pan the camera around the homes and personal features of these wonderful homes.
I loved her home and the tour of her home and yard…I love hearing about people’s stories of family, work and experiences! Thank you for sharing all your cherished treasures. I like all your colors, wall paper, antiques, art and family heirlooms. I believe everyone should decorate their home the way they enjoy living, and not for approval of society. Your home is interesting and beautiful and I feel privileged to have been invited in to see it!
At first glance I thought "too much hodge podge for my taste, but as the video progresses I saw treasures (rattan dog planter ❤), her use of green and orange is fantastically eye catching. Thank you to this lovely lady for allowing us into her warm and vibrant home.
❤❤❤
This house is totally my vibe. Oh my goodness, I loved it so much… now I am going to watch it again. 🥰
I loved this home!!!! A lot of maximalist and eclectic spaces that also involve interiors that are built over time - as opposed to just everything purchased at once while being colorful and maximalist - don’t have the sense of symmetry and balance that this space has. Its got elements of a layered English style but a little bit funkier and very American at the same time. This designer has a very good eye. Homeworthy please do shorts of this video as well. It’s worth it!
Love the color schemes!!! Love the dogs too!!!
If im honest theres to much going on for me, but its very nicely kept and well loved .
I love the way Americans say they don’t have a lot of space🙆♀️to Brits& Europeans it’s big 🙄
I think it’s probably not actually very small for most Americans either (the wealthy and pretend wealthy may consider it small, but 1700sq. ft is avg for the US). Many of us are urban and most of us live paycheck to paycheck despite how we’re portrayed, we’re just all so different from one state to the next. Texans have great big cheap houses and Sanfranciscans have small expensive ones.
I’m American and I agree with your comment. 😄
Most Americans' homes are much smaller than this home. Her gorgeous (giant) green couch wouldn't fit in any room of my home, LOL! ❤
Well to be fair from what I saw when I was there recently, they need space to accommodate themselves 🤣
I grew up in 400 sq apartment 😅 now living in 1500 sq townhouse I feel privileged. I understand when people describe as tiny some really big estates: the more you have the more you want
What a lovely woman and a beautifully curated home. I used to live in Olde Towne Alexandria.
What a comfortable, charming, warm, creative and fun home. They've done a fabulous job. There are so many great ideas that are adaptable to any of our homes. Thanks for the tour! 💗
Lovely lady and lovely family house with a relaxed feel but beautiful aesthetic
I love her sense of history and how she values and implements it into her design; it feels fresh yet reminiscent of the past. And Olde Towne is beautiful.
I just love homeworthey chanel❤❤❤ from England xxxx
She has good taste and her kids have good sense.
Growing up in Virginia, tour gave so many memories for me.I love the color in the home,so inviting. Will watch several times over to capture more ideas.Lovely design and so welcoming.
The tenor and aesthetics of the house match Maria's. Always nice (and interesting) to see internal stuff expressed pretty seamlessly externally. That's a vitally expressed and lived life. Keep enjoying, Maria. Thank you for the tour of this gentle, bright place, as well, meeting your beautiful pups.
Orange is my favorite too. I came home with a signed art glass vase in orange one hour before your debut. 😎G seriously! Delicious.
Absolutely gorgeous home with so many treasures. Those dogs were absolutely adorable as well.
I ❤her home. It has such a warm and fun personality. Everywhere you look has something beautiful or interesting for your eyes to rest on while also being curated. Her dog is precious!
It always amuses me what some people call art, I thought that thing over her fireplace was was done by a toddler.
😂😂😂😂😂exactly
Hope they didn't pay much
Not cookie cutter. Lovey.
Thank you for showing us your beautiful home!❤
So many beautiful things but I fell in love with those panels flanking the fireplace in the living room. So cool and striking.
Home is so beautiful ....rejoice on things that you love... that the beauty of you home..
So nice thanks .
I love it all! Thanks for sharing your home!
I love her painting she did in college!!!❤
I love your dogs
Beautiful house and the dogs are darling ❤
I loved this tour. Unlike the other interior designer's home where there are expensive furniture and art pieces like a wedermier her decor on the other hand was more approachable.
Beautiful, cozy and charming! Love it! ❤
Thank you for sharing your lovely home
A home.Love it.Some of the houses that appears are like luxury museus this one is plenty of real beatiful affordable home.
Maria, your home is gorgeous! My best episode by far!
So kind ❤
Beautiful home, and adorable pet thanks ❤️❤️❤️👏👏🙌🙌
Love this home , keep watching 😻
I loved this video so much. It spoke to me because I, too, have a mix of inherited, sentimental pieces (the hutch my late mother went to housekeeping with, samplers made by my grandmother, and one very special one my cousin worked while undergoing chemo for breast cancer), antiques and reproductions. I have been wondering if my livable house is, perhaps, not spartan enough or “new” enough. Maria reminded me of the beauty of curating a home with a patina out of things that tell my story. Thank you for these wonderful videos of beautiful homes and the talented people who create them.
Love the home and the owner looks so nice! ❤😊
I’m sure the host is now aware of her use of “filler” words. She was
probably nervous and it’s a scary thing to invite the entire internet to view your home.
She has a very unique and eclectic home. Very cozy and I got some great ideas. Absolutely love the chandelier in the living room and all the sweet puppies lounging around.
The “um” was incessant. The r constant ring twirling and ums were probably due to nervousness. It was tough to watch. Beautiful home nevertheless.
I enjoy this home tour because although it’s a large house when I think of most standard house, it’s a home that I can tell has pátina and lovingly furnitures and other items that are sentimental to her (husband, children). I’m thankful to her for sharing her home decoration to us all.
❤
Such beautiful home thank for let us in to your home you are so sweet 😋
Maria, what a beautiful home. So fun seeing you hosting a tour. I was so excited to see 2 @jl_pottery vases on your mantle. Loved it all.
Oh Julie, thank you ! I love your work so much. Thank you for saying hello. I always struggle to pick just one favorite piece @shop_manse
I love those old homes in Alexandria. You have made this one your own with lively colors & art work. It is inviting & cozy. (And your doggies are adorable)
❤
Love a designer who inspires me. She has inspired me to create a middle table in the dining room. It’s so beautiful and functional.
❤
Wonderful cosy artful home and a lovely lady.
What a beautiful and comfortable home. You can tell family and friends are central to Maria's lifestyle. I always love a mix of vintage with some contemporary art. Congratulations on another wonderful house tour.
❤
Love the dog so sweet!!!!!
Beautiful!!!!!
Lovely home and lady. Great taste. Amazingly put together ❤
We see eye to eye on decor :) def early attic
Lovely home!
A beautiful family home- love the descriptions of how the family uses the space. Also, love the dress!
❤
I loved the bedrooms!
Beautiful ❤
One of the best!
Love this interior & very interesting.
Mariah has a lovely home.
Thank you for the video!
I enjoyed this colorful house tour.
Aww I love her home❤. One of my sisters lives in Chestnut Hills in Philadelphia and this reminds me of her house. Simply beautiful ❤❤
❤
I think I might also be "Early Attic". Gorgeous!! Love homes with color, pattern and texture.
❤
Beautiful
Love your home ♥️
Love her house, I want that sectional.
Would've loved to take the home tour with her but . . . vocal fry is like "nails on a chalkboard" to me. It's challenging these days that so many use it.
Yeah, this one was rugged. I had to stop at min 1:39 because my ears. I cannot.
I live in Va, very close to Old Town and I've always wondered what the tiny houses (from the outside) might look inside. Just beautiful and very well designed. I've got a lot of ideas for when we move to a smaller space. Thank you!
❤
Lovely house🥰
There’s a brass floor lamp next to the fire place that I’d love to know the source?
Beautiful & comfortable home! Well done!
the dogs are soooo cute❤
Absolutely beautiful home, with lovely use of colour, pattern, and mix of old and new things. But boy, this was a difficult watch! I wanted to hear what she had to say about the pieces and design choices so kept the sound on, and she also seems a really lovely person. I guess not everyone is great at speaking on camera but the speaking is kind of an important part of the tour 😬 Sorry to say @homeworthy
Feel exactly the same way
Please feature James Farmer’s home. It’s fabulous.
I really don’t understand modern art. I really think I could recreate most. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do like her collected look of her home.
Love all the colors and fabrics
This designer is very easy going, easy to enjoy listening to, & very real!! She has a beautiful home because it has many meaningful & sentimental family pieces! What an enjoyable video!! Thank you!!
Your Babies are Just Gawjus! ❤❤❤
It is a lovely home. Thank you. You may never see this comment since the episode aired months ago but I did a Google lookup on the art over the fireplace in the master bedroom. I found an identical print on an auction sight. Valued between $600 and $900 but may have sold for $300. The artist is Nobu Fukui 1970 Abstract Original Screenprint.
"early attic" i'm gonna use it ;)
