Paul's serendipitous journey to his dream home began with an enchanting encounter during a leisurely drive. Fate, it seemed, smiled upon him and his husband, Nashmi, when the opportunity to make this home their own materialized on the market half a year later. Built in the late 1920’s, the house beckoned for a complete renovation, necessitating even the removal of its original hardwood flooring due to termite-induced damage. Its rooms were shrouded in darkness, exuding an icy ambiance bereft of any allure or warmth.
Since then, Paul has completely transformed the house into an airy and inviting sanctuary. In the realm of design, Paul's approach takes an eclectic yet poised path, channeling a timeless elegance that resonates throughout the entire space. His abode bears the hallmark of a true aficionado of craftsmanship and woodwork, a testament to his penchant for custom-designed furnishings, Danish pottery, and an eclectic array of artworks, salvaged treasures from flea markets, and treasured mementos from beloved friends and family. It’s refreshing to see a house that is unique in design, tailored specifically to the owners needs and aesthetics but void of overtly ostentatiousness. The beauty of this home is in the craftsmanship, the tailored furniture, and the thought that went into every design detail. I love that the home is warm and filled with beautiful things but not overly designed or loud. Sophisticatedly simple but unabashedly personal. One of a kind home!

I love how he remembers all of the designers and artists names and gives them credit. As well as incorporating his partner so much in the homes story, he clearly loves people and it shows, so nice to see.

This home is very different to most of the homes in the series, this could be my favorite so far. The mix of Mid-Century Modern Danish furniture, noble materials like white oak and bronze, the earthy color palette, art pieces and antiques, everything is just very tasteful, pleasant to the eyes. Then the stories behind some pieces and the project itself, they were so interesting. Thank you Homeworthy, thank you Paul!

This is such a serene space. It is not overdone but everything in it makes it shine more. I love the architecture both inside and out and the updates that they made to the home to suit their own style. This man was a gracious tour guide in his own home. I have only seen 20 minutes of this video 'cause I don' t have any more time and will watch the rest in the evening. But I need to say, that I love everything about this house that I've seen yet ( except the Horns etc ). All the beautiful furniture and craftmenship, even the fittings of the beautiful doors, everything! My father was a carpenter and I spent a lot of time helping him when I was young. So I really enjoy all this beautiful woodwork!And I like the owner, I think he is such a nice person who everyone could be friends with. Greetings from Germany 😊

I am in love with this home! The natural colors are so soothing to the eye, yet there’s pops of color too. There’s a great deal of mid century modern furniture, yet the home doesn’t feel like a time capsule, instead it’s so fresh and beautiful. Very well done! Plus Mr. Bates seems like the nicest person!

One of my favorite houses ever. Those kitchen cabinets are fantastically beautiful. This house is so far from the same -old same- old cookie cutter houses.....no subway tiles....yay! The materials throughout are perfection - bronze counters - plaster - and the oak handmade furniture is just gorgeous. I would change only ONE thing: an induction cooktop instead of gas. Wish you were my neighbor, Mr. Bates!
