A movie can be all about silly fun and still retain it's sense, I believe. When a tank decimates every car on a highway except for the important car that SLOWS THE TANK DOWN just to deliver a thrill, it becomes that much more difficult for every viewer to still have fun watching.
Especially when the main cast seems invincible at that point

RisingJake One day you will see an action flick that's 100% accurate. And you will hate it because it won't be at all interesting. It's fantasy that makes action movies enjoyable. That's why superhero movies are so popular. I don't think a car slowing down a tank is anymore ridiculous than a guy getting superpowers from a radioactive spider.
Robin Williams Here's the difference... This isn't a superhero movie lol. If they gave Dom a fucking cape, put his underwear over his jeans and had him turn back time by flying around the Earth super fast I wouldn't be complaining. A superhero movies entire basis is impossible shit done by super powerful beings, these movies have become impossible shit done by completely and totally normal humans with nothing to explain how they can stop a 70 ton tank with a mustang.
Robin Williams The difference is that when seeing a spider-man film (or any superhero/ sci-fi/ fantasy film) you already know you need to suspend disbelief. Its like accepting a hypothetical situation. In an action film like the fast and the furious that is supposed to take place in the normal world you don't go into the film with that idea. This makes any separation from reality much more difficult to accept for lots of people. Well that's my theory anyway.

At around 1:25 he’s talking about Hans girlfriend not Han, as she says about starting a life together, and then this cinema sins guy says clearly you aren’t since Tokyo drift comes after this movie and you aren’t in it! Han was obviously in Tokyo drift whereas she wasn’t, meaning she’s obviously going to die later in this film at some point!

This franchise became the Saints Row of films. Opens as a cop and a bunch of Street Racers, and now they are working with the government and NATO to stop a bunch of targets? That level in of escalation requires like 10 films in normal movie land.
lmao i agree. i played the original Saints Row years back and loved the game. then a few weeks ago i saw my nephew playing the fourth one and i couldn't believe it was related in any way. if you show Fast 1 to someone who has never watched any of the movies and then immediately show Fast 6 to them, it would be like playing pacman level 1 and then level 2 is Call of Duty. >

Yalls don't understand the fact that all of these cars have manual mode for shifting the gears. When he gave the sin for Dom shifting on the runway, he downshifted to get the tranny into a lower gear for more power.
because it's not a full auto where it can change gears by itself, the one on the movie is more like an automated clutch 4 speed gearbox, thus why they still have to shift gears.
No, that were pretty standard torque conversion transmissions - the exact opposite you want to have in a car that is used for racing. Sadly even Ferrari made some models with those, even got those of GM shelves (i400). That is much more wrong than "always seeming to find another gear" when they shift down, not up, presumably after a slow down which would make sense. Not that the writers seem to know much about cars comparing the street racing set up from the first with plausible custom cars to that millionaires gathering with mostly unmodified exotics to which the Top Gear reference would have fitted much better than the Concours d'Elegance / auction mix you will hardly find any references to on that show. *ding* *ding* ding*

Scientifically speaking, someone in a standard 200 foot tall control tower at one end of the runway could only see 17.3 miles until the horizon begins to obscure. *Any plane taking off from the far end of the runway wouldn't be visible until it was OFF THE GROUND*
But if u include the take off speed of such a large airplane, which I conservatively estimate to be 300kph, then this runway is definitely longer than 26 miles.

In addition, I was seriously bugged in this movie by
1. The vending machine. It's in London and it's full of American snacks. You cannot get that stuff in London in vending machines. You over pay for it from the 'American' sections in supermarkets and sweet shops.
2. Roman's spending habits. He only got 11 million in the last movie, and I'm pretty sure he lost a million in a bet. He bought a plane, possibly a yacht and over paid to get a four of a kind car from an oil sheik. He apparently spends all his time jetting around the world with women and staying in penthouse suites in expensive hotels. He should be almost out of money by now, if not completely broke!
Not to mention the yearly cost of fuel and maintenance and crew.

1) Transformers sucks balls as action because it's mostly CGI while F&F has some cool real stunts, and really good fight scenes.
2) Characters in Transformers are lame people trying to look cool. F&F people are all actually cool and likeable characters, and they have a few lines which stick with us. ("I live my life quarter mile at a time", "Ride or die", "I don't have friends, I got family") You can't remember any memorable line from Transformers.
3) No, we don't care how much this movie makes sense and it doesn't bother you if you watch it to enjoy it. The only solid bullshit I recognised was Letty coming back. But who cares, if she simply walked in the scene saying "I decided not to die" that would still be good enough. Explanation: She's Michelle Rodriguez.
4) F&F is here to entertain us whereas Transformers is an army propaganda film trying to push stupid kids into the army.
5) Tranformers have incredibly stupid jokes, once again proving it's directed at stupid kids who might wanna join the army one day. F&F have subtle comic relief which doesn't sting you like a bee.
I enjoyed watching this sins video because it's actually fun trying to make sense out of a movie like this, but I don't understand your nerd rage. I think F&F is one of the best action film series of 2000's.

Taking into consideration the 155mph takeoff speed of the an-225 (the plane used in the movie) assuming the average speed is 180 because he said that he needed to speed up the plane and the 12.5 minute run time of the scene, that runway is approximately 37 miles long! That’s about the distance between Washington to Baltimore! For reference, the longest runway in the world is only 3.5 miles long (BPX in Tibet).

Actually that sin for the "Hobbs in the air should have allowed the car to be long gone.." shouldn't be. Here's why,
Shaw was going at a constant speed considering Hobbs was able to catch up to him in his not as fast car so they were going the same speed, and when Hobbs jumped off, he was still going the same velocity horizontally as fast as the car was going (vs the little air resistance there was but that doesn't really make a difference when the distance falling is like 30 feet). Plus he was a bit in front of Shaw so even if you put on all the air resistance, Hobbs does move back a little/slow down or Shaw speeds up but anyway point is, while falling, he did not lose the speed he had while driving the car bc horizontal velocity doesn't change which no resistance until hitting the ground.
sorry for that I just wanted to show how smart I am in Physics class, carry on.
There is resistance though, the air pressure, which at that speed is very noticeable, and he would have had to have started his jump ahead of Shaw's car to make up for it.

The plane scene was a huge insult to aviation lovers. 60mph is just a 'takeoff roll beginning' speed, they had to be at least 200mph if considering the plane was taking off and flying with heavy load, and if you do the math, that runway is about 26 miles long.

+Bryan Lee No not necessarily. Hobbs would encounter wind resistance. Since he has no engine accelerating him forward, unlike the two cars, he would start losing speed as soon as he jumped. He only has the momentum from the car he jumped from. It also looked like the car he was jumping to was further in front as well so he definitely would't have made it.

Every now and again I need a movie that speaks to the inner 'Michael Bay' in me. I fucking love this franchise, I fucking love Transformers and other movie's alike. That doesn't stop me from loving other films, but I enjoy nothing more than big ass explosions and flashy lights, if done right. I'm definitely not ashamed to say that, and why should I always expect realism from a movie? It is after all only a film and they are what you make it.
TheBazable I am not part of the Michael Bay hate-train that is more trendy than anything, with people being on some stupid bandwagon as opposed to having some genuine dislike for him. I enjoyed The Rock, I enjoyed both Bad Boys movies, I enjoyed Pain & Gain, despite the fact that it was disturbing to know that a good amount of what happened really did happen in real life. Armageddon, I had a mixed opinion on. Transformers, it really depends, but I didn't like the second one. The fourth one was just okay at best but way too long. I DID, however, enjoy The Island.
Even I am well aware of how ridiculous this series has gotten, and before the most recent films, the most over-the-top action movie that I have ever seen was Crank 2.

That is the main reason why I like F&F but not Transformers, with F&F you can tell the good guys from the bad guys and usually understand what is going on. They both have the same love for physics defying action, but F&F doesn't constantly use shaky cam only 5 feet away from everything.
