Hi Monika, another Monika here, filling 70 in February 😁! Out of a sudden I got Diabetes type 2, it’s in my family. I’ve never been more surprised… I’m a bit overweight since my fifties, but not too much, I follow a healthy vegetarian lifestyle, using only small amounts of sugar, moving almost every day, walking, a bit of yoga and stretching. That diagnosis was 7 years ago and since then I’m struggling to lose weight. As I’m a night owl, intermittent fasting is killing me… I like the moderate way. My Apple Watch showed me, that I’m sitting too long, when I’m reading or knitting, so I worked on that, which was easy. Now I’ll work seriously on the next step: losing weight. Finding another Monika, who’s done that already, seems a good start, thank you for sharing your 'light way'. Love from Germany, Monika❣

It's funny how those health issue and suddenly pop up. I know someone who has always been healthy, always ate right, is thin and works out and boom suddenly she has high cholesterol. Runs in her family too. I am more of night owl too, I stay up reading or watching videos. My struggle is sleep. Keep on moving even while sitting! It takes a while and there are many ups and owns but you can do it! We are heading to Germany soon. My next video ( Sunday 10am) is about me trying to pack in carry on only! What part of Germany do you live in?

That has been huge for me. When I know I won’t make my active calorie goal I just adjust in my food intake. I love how it’s like have a personal trainer with me all the time.
68 yo female. Same here. Time to get the weight off. Down 50#. 30# more to go. I'm doing the same as you. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. I also follow lower carb but have carbs when I want.
I tend to go for the lower carbs foods but don't follow a low carb lifestyle. For example, I never have potatoes at home but if we go out I will have French fries or a baked potato. in summer months I make pasta salads but that is usually the only pasta we have. I do eat toasted bread or rice cakes in the morning which are higher in carbs. So I am mindful or carbs and of fat counts but basically make sure i get a good amount of protein. :)
Great job. I have lost 70.8 at 63. Tired of eating the same thing every day. Yes I counted calories. Still do. I love corn. I love carbs too. I eat on the weekend and am good on the weekdays.
That is why I dont deny myself if I really want something. I would get bored and then I would end up quitting. It's a balancing thing, a lifestyle change, When I am badI don't beat mysele up. i just move more. Last night, I taught a 4 hour class via Zoom and I have a stand up desk here at home so I stood for the 1st 3 hours. I know that's not exercise but it was better than sitting for those 3 hours. Drink lots of water and while sitting I do leg lifts or ankle rotations. There are all sorts of things you can do while sitting. I love my apple watch!!! Congrats on your 70 pound weight loss! That is awesome!

On average, how many steps do you get in a day? Loved the video and all the extra tips you gave. My tip is whenever you are in the kitchen...waiting for microwave, washing dishes ect. I move my legs or do something. Even going up my stairs...do something different. I do push ups as I'm leaning on them.
We are much alike! Do the same when I am waiting for something. I also have hand weights I strap on. I do 3 planks every morning. Hold each for a minute and then I do wall squats. I used to always do about 10 to 12k steps a day but once I started swimming that dropped down to about 4to6k and more if I go for a walk around the neighborhood. :)

This week I averaged 6,000 but it depends if I swim for an hour I won't go for a long walk.
