My grandfather was murdered when he was 35 years old. My grandmother was left with 1.5-year-old twin boys and a 6-year-old daughter. My Aunt told me that my grandmother walked all day to get through the pain. When I had a horrible breakup years ago, all I did was walk, and it was transformative.

You’re beautiful!! Awesome. I was married 32 years to a controlling over bearing cheater. I finally found strength through this. I wasn’t even allowed to get gas for my car w/o permission and I worked 3 jobs. I never been in the bank because he said I didn’t need to. I thought he took care of me. He took care of himself. After 4 years of being apart and I hadn’t chased him, guess who wants me back? Not for me anymore. I have freedom and live for ME now!! You got this pretty lady

My ex is (still) a gambler. I never knew how much money he really made either. We were always broke (I was working full time as a nurse and it truly puzzled my parents) and it took me a long time but I finally figured out why. He was a narcissist too. 😑

My ex-husband decided after 25 years of marriage and 2 children that he didn’t want to be married and he should not have had children. Walking and riding my exercise bike were my ways to get through each day. I would definitely recommend you keep going! You will be great!

Exact same scenario for me in 2004. Walking helped clear my basket case head and I found me again and the strength to get through it.
I need to add I’m happily remarried. About 10 years ago I had a mini stroke and a bad fall that left me not doing any physical activity but I’m starting to feel motivated again!

I started walking last October I was 280lbs (I'm 52, and 5 feet tall) ,I've lost 75lbs and just last week did a 20 mile hike/ rock climbing adventure with my husband.
I walk 5 miles on weekdays and hike 10+ miles on weekends .
There was a time when I couldn't walk a flight of stairs without being winded, I had a " mild" heart attack in my late 30's ,I was a smoker.
It's never to late to get healthier for yourself ❤

I'm 67, I started walking four years ago for just 15 minutes a day, it was all I could manage at the time. Now I walk for up to an hour and a half a day, I've lost 70 pounds and 36 inches, I would never have thought I could like what I see when I look in the mirror but I do. Having thinking time away from the usual distractions is something we forget about when we don't have it. I don't love it every day but I'm always glad when I've done a walk. Doing something for yourself that makes you feel good when you're going through a divorce is really empowering. Congratulations Mandy on completing the challenge and for keeping going when life got tough.

    • @clare9637
      @clare9637 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@lonestargirl76 Ironically what set me on the path to doing more exercise was that I have Ulcerative Colitis so my body doesn't digest a wide variety of what I would have considered to be healthy foods. I eat as healthily as I can but in my case that rules out most fruit and vegetables as well as whole grains. What I learned is that you do the best you can with what you have available to you because there's no point in getting upset about what you can't change.

When I split from my spouse I would walk and jog after work even in the rain, letting out those endorphins and tears helped tremendously! It’s weird how taking care of ourselves as women goes on the back burner until we are faces with the reality of trauma tragedy or challenges! Don’t give up your on the right PATH!😊

I did the 30 day, one hour workout challenge. I started on June 13th and am still working out (85 days later) for 75 - 95 minutes every day. I started out this year weighing 196. I weigh 172 today. My blood pressure is now perfect, my cholesterol numbers are normal and so are all of my lab work that I just had done 2 weeks ago. My doctor who initially wanted me on pills for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, told me to keep up the great work and to just take a multivitamin.

I did a similar thing when my husband and Mom passed away within five days of each other, she passed on the day of his funeral. Days later, I went to the walking track and walked for an hour every single day and it was SO hard, but it was like it was the only thing I could control when my life had been blown to smithereens, I would walk and cry and walk and cry and it was all I could do to hang on to everything while I tried to keep my stuff together when I still had an eleven year old son at home. You were courageous in facing your challenge and I look back and know that it took courage for me to that, too.

So true how something simple that you can control, like a daily walk, can help you cope with the most tragic events that life throws at you. I lost my wife to cancer, my best friend to a heart attack and my mother to old age all in short order and taking myself off into the local woodlands and just walking away from everything and everybody gave me the space to start gluing myself back together again.

Don't be ashamed to admit it's been six years since you walked. YOU ARE NOT, NOT, ALONE. Good mindset and keep it up. Don't let the negativity override the positivity of walking. I trained to power walk a half marathon during my divorce and a month after it was finalized I completed the city half marathon. Mentally and physically it helped me through it all. Today I love not being married to the guy and enjoy life so much more. Things will get better for you just keep positive and do things YOU now want to do to help YOU.😊

Mandy, in September of 22, after having two heart ablations my cardiologist said I needed to loose wait and exercise. I started walking on my treadmill 3 days a week. At first it was for only 20 minutes and gradually worked my self up to walking 100 minutes every other day. Plus any other things during the week. I started at 220 and I have lose 50 pounds. I have gone done in size from plus size shirts to size some medium and large size shirts. I’m 71, retired and it works for me where it might not work for others. Also my husband was diagnosed with alzheimer’s and the walking is helping with the stress of everything I now have to do. Please keep walking it helps your frame of mind and your body. I hope everyone will do the same thing your doing. We as women need to look out for ourselves for a change. Keep up the good work. It shows the progress your making in the video. Ask God to give you the strength you need to do what you want to accomplish for your wellbeing.

I felt your pain on day 20 when you talked about divorce. Even though it’s hard and painful, what you’re doing to take better care of yourself just proves how strong you really are. Hi Mandy, I just subbed. My therapist has encouraged me to start walking 30 minutes every day. I live with major depression disorder and I'm pretty much a couch potato. I found your video very encouraging. I'm going to give it a try. I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. I was married for 19 years and have been divorced for 31 years. Give yourself plenty of time to grieve the death of your marriage. Be kind to yourself. Write down positive things about yourself every day. Hugs ❤ Carol

FYI it will normally take 3 months to develop a habit, so hang in there. Stress causes cortisol increase but walking decreases it. After a decade of walking I’ve lost 70 lbs without really dieting. It may not be a fast lost, but a slow one which means by your measurements you’re replacing fat with firm muscle. ❤

The emotional weight you were carrying at the beginning compared to the end was so heavy. Your voice was lighter at the end - your attitude and overall affect! Amazing :-). The fact that you kept on through the challenge even after day 15 so how strong your are and how much you love YOU. I am so proud! I'm so sorry you're going through a divorce. I know they're so very difficult. No matter the reasons for a marriage ending, there is still an end to life as you've known it for a while. We grieve the end, no matter how/why it came about. Our identities become wrapped up in who we are as a couple, and then suddenly we are no longer a couple. Our identity begins to change, because now we have to rediscover who we are on our own. I've also been through a divorce, and they're so difficult. I wish you the best, as you rediscover who you are, and learn to love yourself again! I'm new here, and it sounds like you're a teacher! I'm also a teacher. I decided to sub, as you seem like a kindred spirit! Looking forward to catching up on your videos!

Don’t pay any attention to how you look, just walk and keep walking. If you focus on weight loss and it’s super slow to come off you’ll get frustrated and quit. My body sheds weight so so soooo slowly so I’m just gonna let it do what it does and keep walking a minimum of 10k steps a day. My clothes are fitting better but I’m trying not to notice so I don’t get fixated on it because then I’m in trouble.

Hi Mandy 😀, I really like your video, it is very honest. Walking is medicine. It helps the body and the soul. It is free and yet the initial price is high, because self-discipline is a hard currency. When the effect of the medicine sets in, you no longer need self-discipline because you set out on the path for the joy of walking. When walking with Nordic walking poles you will have no more problem with swollen fingers and you will feel even fitter after walking. This is my experience. You did it right because walking alone, without music, without noise, without podcast etc. is something special, you get closer to yourself. It activates inner forces and that is what happened to you. Thank you for sharing your video 😄.

Congratulations on losing that healthy 3 lbs!! I hope this will inspire you & that's why I'm sharing it. When I left Altercare, after 2.5 years of Stroke rehab, I was 260 lbs in Dec 2015. Today I'm 185 lbs. I was ashamed that it seemed like I couldn't get the weight off, but my doctor told me that losing 2-4 lbs a month is the healthy way to lose weight. You're more likely to lose it & keep it off that way. He said "Be the tortoise, not the hare & you'll keep the weight off." Yes its been 7 years & 75 lbs later that avgs out to only 10 5 lbs a year, but in my own way I'm staying active and doing it. My A1C reading also shows it cos I started out at 9.6 in 2016 and now 6.4 (as of April). So being healthy just doesn't mean weight loss, but many other things too: blood sugar, mood, etc.
If I can do it with my limitations in my wheelchair I KNOW you can too. Keep up the awesome work, you got this!! 🎉

You go girl! I had let myself go due to stress and other issues and was far too heavy for my height and bone structure - also bad for my overall health. I decided I just had to do something for myself and so, slowly, over the past five years, I've lost an average of 10 pounds a year. I went from a size 16 to a size 10 and got back what I call "my girlish figure." I LOVE IT! I started my serious but slow and steady weight loss with more thoughtful food intake and increased exercise in 2018. I started out at 195 pounds and am now fluctuating between 145 to 150. I would like to get to 140 pounds stabilized. It wasn't easy, but I feel so much better not only about how I look but how I feel physically and health wise. Slow and steady does win the race. I have heart issues and my cardiologist has been amazed by my "transformation." I had my 72nd birthday a few weeks ago, so it's never too late. Where there is a will, it's true - there is a way! We women need to take better care of ourselves and give ourselves OUR TIME. Our culture for too long has brainwashed us into thinking that to take care of ourselves instead of others and putting them first and our own needs last is somehow being selfish. BALONEY!

So proud of you, keep up the good. We seem to live for our spouses and kids now it’s time to live for yourself. Try adding fasting 18x6 if you’re looking to lose weight and more inches I walk every day along with fasting and lost 38lbs in 10 weeks and now my ex wants me back but that ship has sailed 😊 You got this again so proud of you. 🎉🙏♥️

I walk 5 miles a day and I've lost 25 lbs. My average is about 1lb a week and I've gone from XL to a tight M/10 (tight 8 w/Spanx). Keep it up!! I've started light weights (3-5) lbs. I love this girl, that's all she uses. I'm also going to get 1lb ankle weights for lower body. My goal is to fit an 8 by Easter without Spanx. PS I'm 61. I workout with videos for women over 50. And I do an annual walk challenge, Me against 2023.

Okay, I’m in! I have been procrastinating, but after watching you, and reading the comments. I am going to start my own 3pm day challenge! I’ll check in along the way. What’s been so hard for me is getting my mind focused, it’s nice to know others are on this road to bettering themselves as well.

It’s amazing what small changes can do. I started exercising for the first time in over 5 years this summer too. I had my 7th baby in March and have a lot of weight to lose but more importantly I need to be stronger for my kids and babies. I started water walking at the pool 2x a week for only a half hour. 6 weeks later I feel a HUGE difference and am stronger than I have been in many many years just from that! I am getting a ymca membership to keep it up this winter.

    You inspired me.
I lost my husband to cancer 3 years ago and I haven’t been sleeping and my eating has been terrible, a lot of emotional eating.
Listening to your little talks about walking and just walking in silence and reflecting hit home.
I’m going to challenge myself even with my torn meniscus and say a rosary for world peace and for anyone who needs prayers while I do walk.

MANDY, Let me first say, YOU ARE AN AMAZINGLY COURAGEOUS WOMAN! I was sad to hear of your marriage. Yet, I know you are such a warrior for pushing forward no matter what! Keep looking upward & onward! By the way, you look gorgeous! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION...KEEP DOING! Thanks for allowing us to journey along!😊

I am seriously impressed with your efforts, especially given your challenges along the way! I started a fitness regime a couple of months ago (I'm 77), 3 weekly visits to the gym + some swimming, and my general energy has improved but no effect on my weight. You have inspired me to go for walks on the days that I don't go to the gym - here's hoping it all comes together - finally!

I'm inspired! After back surgery in 2018 I was told "don't walk on concrete" so I stopped walking, which I had loved doing. Packed on the pounds. I'm inspired by your 30 minute challenge...it doesn't have to be a marathon. Thank you!

Hi Mandy, just met you. You've inspired me to do my own challenge! It takes a lot of strength to get through the end of marriage. No matter who's idea, it is emotional and one of the most stressful things in life you can do. You'll come out of this so much stronger, and I hope, happier than you may ever have been. Thank you for sharing so much... it makes it that much more relatable. I look forward to following your journey. ❤
