    I feel like this video, is everything Spite did with trying to expose YN to Harley's and what the whole experience is about. This is probably the best example of someone with zero Harley exposure, and all the typical Harley preconceptions - instantly understanding why so many people like Harleys, after one ride. People just don’t know what they don’t know - until they do.

    • @michaelconner9796
      @michaelconner9796 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I know Harleys are nice, they are great bikes. But the only part I can't wrap my head around is paying close to 75% more for 10% better... I'm a cheap ass though. I feel like the cost and price would take away from my riding experience, just like it did Whitney at the end when Spite told her it was a 22+ grand bike. Makes me think... is it really THAT much better, or is good enough okay...

    • @jordanjoestar8839
      @jordanjoestar8839 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Lets be real here, other Harleys don't brake, accelerate or turn like this model.
      This was made as a direct update to compete with Indian who is besting them in every form of racing. This is one of their first real attempts to be back in the performance realm again. With the aluminum chassis, fox shocks, inverted forks and brembos adorning the Indians, they have to do this. I love it though! But some cheap 883 or standard softail isn't close to this experience unfortunately, having much worse brakes, suspension and no honking 117ci sitting in it lol.

    I'm an older fellow and have owned metric or European bikes, and my wife being a Harley lady, asked me to trade my M109R in on a Harley. Well, I purchased a 2011 Road King in 2018, and to tell you the truth I wasn't crazy about it when I purchased it, but my wife was happy. A couple day's after I purchased the Road King I took it on a 500-mile ride through the desert and then the mountains. When I got home, I expressed to her; now I understand why people love Harley Davidson so much. The rumbling feel of the motor when you are at idle or accelerating, the sound of the Twin Cam was just music to my ears, and the handling in the mountains was fantastic. A couple days ago, I purchased my 5th Harley; a 2023 Harley Breakout, and I cannot ever see myself going back to metric or European motorcycle again. Great video; I really enjoyed watching and listing to your and Whitney's commentary.

    Whitney's always a bright ray of sunshine in your videos. I think her R18 might be in danger of being swapped out for a Harley.
    My first ride on a cruiser was last year & I had trouble figuring out where my legs went too. I borrowed a mate's bike while I prepped mine that had been in storage for 5 years. After a month of riding the cruiser I felt cramped when I switched over to my bike, like I was using rear sets, and I have a fairly standard upright seating position. I never used to get it, but now I really see the appeal of riding a cruiser.

    I've seen this so many times the first time a rider experiences the power of a Harley. It shocks them. The giggle reflex is real and common! Americans buy horsepower but they ride and feel torque when on the street. People also tend to not believe how maneuverable the big Harleys really can be - even the big touring rides. Congrats Whitney. BTW I ride a Ultra Limited and also have a Triumph Bonneville T120 (another torque monster in a smaller bike).

    YES! EXACTLY! THIS was the Dyna experience in a nutshell-well, once you hotrodded the engine, upgraded the mounts, added some frame stabilizers,, upgraded the suspension and tires... Oh, and got a new seat! But once you did that, THIS was the Dyna experience... For you. Anybody else who rode it wouldn't "get it", so much of the perfect bike feel is subjective and emotive that a lot can get lost in translation. Harley deserves a ton of credit for being able to package that feeling into a commercial product, a Softail no less... But 22 grand?! I wouldn't feel ripped off if I could afford one, but I can't. Luckily the Softail Standard and the Street Bob 114 are under 15 grand and could easily be upgraded to this level, the Street Bob is really close just missing the suspension, fairing and bags... And really all I'd need is the fairing, I ride with a bookbag.
    Welcome to the fold, Whitney... Don't worry, most of us are more like Spite than Sons Of Anarchy.

    FWIW if I turn the bars full lock to right I can literally bring an R18TC off the side stand with just a little pressure from the inside of the left knee and no hand on the left grip on level pavement. The balance of it is incredible since the center of gravity is so low. Just be sure to hold the right grip to hold the brake and to keep it from tipping over to the right. The full lock to right helps with pretty much any bike, but especially the heavy ones.

    I have had Gixxers, ZX6, ZX10s, a Buss and two ZX14s. I bought a Victory Cross Country because my current girlfriend would never ride on a rocket. I dearly miss my rockets and eventually plan on buying another. With that said; I HATED my CC for the first month. Now....man if I only had one bike it would be something along this line. I love the massive size. Look at pictures of a CC next to a touring Harley. It's soooo big. Makes for challenging yet fun U turns. Honestly I believe every enthusiast should spend at least a month on a giant bike.
    Keep up the good work. I'm really enjoying your new channel. ✊️

    Loved this video. I came upon a HD Street Glide at a great price. Bought it without ever having been on one, or even ever considering one. Yes it was intimidating but once I got used to it I totally got it. It was so reassuring, noisy, heavy, but always engaging. I discovered all the HD hate was misplaced. I will never buy another one, not my thing. But, I really liked and was impressed by the bike.

    Great Video! You can hear the let down in Whitney's voice INSTANTLY when you tell her the price tag!

    For a bit now I have been trying to decide between a cruiser/bagger and an ADV bike as my one and only motorcycle (and only motor vehicle). I mainly plan for it to be for touring, camping, shopping trips. I am not really planning on doing a ton of offroad (beyond the odd dirt road or light gravel road), though it is possible I could change my mind later. Mainly it will be used for paved roads and longer distances. It is a touch choice as I like them both for different reasons.

    I don’t foresee a Harley in my future, but that was fun to watch, and I can understand the attraction.

    What a great video ... Think Whitney might be getting an HD, lol .....
    I came from a bmw 1250gs, got on LRS, and fell in love, sold the gs now own one in black, want to ride every day now, changed the exhaust to V&H high output exhaust, more power lol. Here in the uk 🇬🇧 we have a ride called the. Iron butt challenge.. it's a thousands miles in 24 hours, did it on my Low rider s in 22 hours, i got off like I'd been riding round the block a few times, most sports bikes can't belive how fast she is. They give the beans at the light to leave me standing, as I go flying past them laughing my mate is selling he's yamaha R1 now, as he can't believe how much power and how easy it is to ride. Keep safe

    It's funny to hear you guys talk about touring bikes as if they're such massive monsters, because I'm so used to them. After putting 100k miles on Rocket IIIs, the Street and Road Glides actually feel small to me! I ride an Indian Challenger and a Rocket and big bikes just feel natural to me! I consider the LowRider ST to be flickable! Once you're used to the weight and how to balance those bikes, they're very manageable.

    Add a windshield to a Sport Glide and it’s really comparable. I paid 17,100 out the door brand new 10-19. 38k miles now still love it.

    Loved seeing Whitney expand her horizon. I'm a new convert to the Church of Harley Davidson, myself. I currently ride a 2005 Yamaha Warrior 1700 (which is a blast, btw). I love the looks of the Low Rider, Fat Boy, and the Breakout, but I believe I have decided on getting a standard Road King with an M8 motor. I did not expect to like the RK, but once I rode it, I was hooked! I would love to see your review of the RK and Whitney's first ride impressions on it and other HD offerings.
    I didn't get it before. Riding a Harley isn't about the technical specs. It is about the visceral experience and the way HD serves it up is satisfying in a way other bikes aren't... and they come with a community unlike any other make.

      I had a Warrior for a year. Now I ride a Raider, which is still great, but nothing has held up to the warrior for me.
      Keep it, it's a gem that's becoming pretty rare now.
      Never rode another cruiser that went around corners THAT great.

    The big front fairings and panniers make it look bigger than it probably feels like to ride. The wide bars should improve handling, and that torque would make it fun in the twisties for sure.

    As someone who went from a dyna street bob, to street glide, then back to a softail standard. The softail feels like a sportster after being on the touring bike for a couple years. The only Harley I’d say feels really big even though it’s the same size is the road glide. Something about the wraparound fairing and how far out front the dash is. It’s like sensory overload for a short person. It felt like there was so much in front of me that I lost sight of everything around me.

    All that low end tourque moves you quickly immediately. And will wear out cheap back tires in less than 5,000 miles. They pull great coming out of turns and flattens the hills.

    As an R18 owner who used to ride Harley, I can understand the sticker shock since almost anything from Harley is over $20k now and my 2022 was out the door $14.5k. I think if she bought the tail raising kit and put some short mufflers on her R18 she can enjoy it a bit more.
