      Is their really a competition. Harley has priced itself so far above everyone else why bother comparing them?
      The decision of most consumers will be made based on price anyway. And we all know who wins there.

      I find the idea that a big, heavy machine, even like a road glide, would be anyone's last bike. Getting a lighter bike makes way more sense to me. The Meteor 350 is a success for a reason.

    Thank you for highlighting how great Nightster is, and how Harley kneecaps it with pricing. Harley needs to throw the larger Rev Max in it, give it the rear monoshock from Sportster S and take the fight to Honda.

    • @spitescorner
      @spitescorner  ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Great video! I was lucky enough to get a lightly used 2022 Nighster with just 610 miles on it in pristine condition. It was listed as $11,999, which was way too expensive. They Brought it down to $7999, and then gave me $2200 for my 2015 Street 500, so $5799 was my final price. I think that was a great deal and I rode away on it. It is a blast!

    Now that I know that you read all comments, here is my view..
    This was a cool video, and I told my wife about the new Harley lineup...
    Then she said... Dude, Today you ride your Rebel 500 as a dad biker, but 10 years from now, you will be 60, kids will grow up, start their life... you will get right in the market for one of those bikes.
    And this is the point, there is always going to be somebody who turns 60, every year, and Harley all they need to do, is keep waiting for these folks to get there.
    Am I going to be one of them ? Dunno, but I'll tell you 10 years from now, how this goes.
    Great video, thanks for the time you took to make it.

    I have to disagree on the Road King Special. It's lighter and handles better than any of the other touring bikes, doesn't have electronics to become horribly dated in 10 years, and you can put any fairing you want on it and quickly remove it as wanted. That makes it essentially convertible. It's the stripped down hot rod roadster of the touring bikes.

    I was there that day and rode the blue road king.
    When I asked, the HD guy in the truck said the road king had a stage 2 with a power cam, not a stage 1. That road king would run off and leave any of the stock 117’s I tested, and was unquestionably faster and smoother than any of the other touring bikes and the most fun out of all of them. I’d give it a 9 out or a 10.
    I rode all the same bikes a week later when the demo truck rolled into Central Texas Harley and reaffirmed that opinion.
    The 117’s left me cold as do the CVO models. A cam, pipes and a tune and they would be different animals.

    I just got a Nightster. Here in Thailand they gave me 15% discount for the bike (2022 model) and 20% discount for accessories. That made this bike cheaper than a Triumph Bobber or an Indian Scout and just a bit more expensive than a Rebel 1100 over here. Very good deal.
    With a custom exhaust it sounds kinda like a Ducati V2. Very interesting. Ride way quicker than expected out of the box for a Harley.

    @anthonyhaas5648 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Spite, I agree with you on the Breakout! I referred to it as a fat pig when I rode one in Daytona. However your review on the Touring bikes is simply based on a 5-10 mile ride during a test. I challenge you to review a Road Glide special or even the Indian Challenger on a long ride. Even ride one up to Sturgis, then ride the other back. Trust that the platform would be better than the ST for those applications. In town…sure the ST is amazing, but is it the best for a longer trip or an entire day in the saddle? Love the show!!!

    I reckon every Harley guy would have the Nightster S as a hooning toy in addition to their ‘main’ bike if they were just that little bit cheaper. I can’t justify the cost for what would be a hobby machine. I can’t bare to part with either of my Heritages (twin cam & M8), but I’m in the market for a CVO SG or Indian Chieftain. I’ll make my decision after testing the 116 Thunderstroke on my dad’s new Springfield that arrives tomorrow 😎

    I've been riding nothing but Harley's for the past 17 years but the only thing Harley has convinced me of with their 2023 releases is it's time to move away from Harley-Davidson. Their prices are an absolute insult to a prospective buyer considering what they give you in return.

    Let’s face it, there’s not a single bike Harley makes that is actually worth the price tag.
    Surprisingly, the Pan American is the most modestly priced model in the lineup. Just because they have to compete with other big ADV bikes and the Harley tax isn’t going to sell in that category. What they don’t realize is that the new “sport” category isn’t going to sell at those prices either. Too much competition in that category as well. The baby Nightster should be $11,500 and the special, $13,000 and they would double their sales overnight. But that will never happen while the German is in charge.

    Prices on Harleys are hilarious. I have an Iron 883 which MSRPd for $12-13k. You can get a Triumph Speed Twin for that price and it's basically double the power and 100 lbs lighter, same cool classic looks. I won't be coming back to the Harley brand again unless they can get the Bronx out for $12k or so which won't happen

    Great Review! Very entertaining and informative. I pretty much 100% agree with all your thoughts on the bikes you rode. Curiosity plagues me though....you missed probably the best softail out of them all, and one that goes toe to toe in every regard to the Lowrider S....take a bow Mr. Fat Bob. (Not Fat Boy...Fat Bob...two very different bikes for those of you who think im talking about Arnold's Two
    -wheeled T1000 fighting bike). I suggest you spend some time with one if you haven't already. You think the grin from the LRS was wide..just wait until Bob says hells yes in a corner. Yes it doesn't have the 117, but trust me, the 114 is plenty stout in that machine. I GUARANTEE you won't miss it with the Fat Bob being lighter than the LRS. Also, what about the Pam Am? New kid in the ADV world, taking the segment by storm, fantastic engine, with an amazing chassis and great ergos......Again though, great reviews!! Keep it up and entertaining!! Cheers.

    I’ve never liked Harleys, but man there’s something about the lowrider that scratches an itch I didn’t know I had. That’s the best way I can describe it. I don’t know what it is, something about it just works for me. I don’t know that I would drop the cash for one, but it’s definitely a rad bike. If Harley wants to sell bikes, they need to look at their pricing model. They’re starting to get to a point where they can’t sell the name anymore, they have to sell bikes, and those bikes aren’t worth the price tag. For your die hard Harley rider who won’t touch anything else, he was willing to pay for the bar and shield, but that guy is getting older now. That guy isn’t buying many bikes anymore. That guy has a small amount of time left on two wheels. And his kids aren’t paying for the Harley name, they want a modest bike, at a modest price, that feels like it’s worth every penny they paid for it. I don’t see myself dropping 25 grand on any Harley and thinking “yeah, this was worth every bit of 25 thousand dollars”.

    I've just checked HDs pricing here in our corner of Europe and daaaamn. The absolute base trim Nightster (not the special) with no extras still costs 10% more than a Ducati monster in the SP trim...or rougly the same as the BMW R9T which is considered a rich boy's showoff bike. How will they sell their base, plastic covered, working man's entry level bike like this i have no clue.....
