I’ve blocked a handful of people, honestly. Mainly those who have been repeated idiots in game (I have actually left the game and re-entered to avoid someone...and then they proceed to be on the list again =.=) or the one fellow that I actually discovered hacking the game.
tip: if you have the haunt ability in your gear, use it to your advantage. since you'll get the location of who killed you last for a bit. it's basically an x-ray.
It doesn’t quite work like how it did in the first game. I don’t really know how it works now, but I’d check out Captain Astronaut’s video on something that involves it.

It really depends on what you’re playing on as some maps are much easier to spawn camp than others like Camp Triggerfish while a fun map, is very easy to get behind the enemy team and potentially spawn camp them. Maybe if they want it so the team that is spawn camping the other team make it so you receive like one second of invulnerability as if you were still in spawn to make it harder for the enemy team to spawn camp you.
Also look at the specials currently available on the other team - if you know which weapon is spawn camping you ( Probably an annoying sploosh ) beware before you go into battle. If it is a splashdown or a baller for example, you should be extra cautious!
I always refuse to join my team if they start spawn camping. I don’t care if we have the rest of the map covered, I’m gonna go mess around or get the tiny spots.

Sometimes, if the whole enemy team is spawn camping you, it only takes one person on your team to slip away and you can jump to them and reclaim the turf!

Other times it’s because the teammate who disconnected forgot to charge their Switch/Switch lite and the battery dies on them, and other times it’s a rage quit.

You mentioned using stingray, but it actually wouldn’t be the best special to have in a spawn camper situation, mainly due to an update nintendo released in the past that forces the user who has activated stingray to not have access to spawn. So, by activating stingray while being spawn camped, it really will only success in pushing you out of spawn and making you an easy target to splat. But despite that small thing, I think that this is a really good video and it’ll really help players out! ^^ Edit: ironically enough I was in team league with my friends for clam blitz today and we ran into a team that spawn camped. We played against them twice and lost both times >< But hey! We still got a good power and made it 8th world wide so I can’t really complain much XD
Two things I would add. You can stand in the spawn point and fling ink at them and they can't hit you until you leave the spawn point. Second I have won games because the other team made the mistake of camping with all 4 players. I was able to fling enough to make a path and got by all 4. While they kept trying to hold the spawn camp I painted their entire side of the map in the last minute of play. Best win ever.
Honestly, when my team starts to spawn camp I just stay in the middle of the map... However i feel kinda bad for staying in the middle because I usually get to pick off those who escape my team... And what am I supposed to do if they just attack me... I'm not just going to sit there and die... I feel bad now...

Once, I was in a Splatfest battle and the entire enemy team was spawn camping my team and I had enough of those idiots, so I just charged right in, killed 3 of them and damaged the last one before his ink jet killed me
As a person who camps areas in general, spawn camping is more of to force enemies to waste resources. Generally spawn has places that give advantages to enemy campers (ledges, streets, open area, etc), making it easier to stall. The difference between camping mid and camping spawn is how much it punishes, and how far it is from objective. Generally trying to take a camper on 1v1 is a bad situation (bad matchups + no map control). The spawn is also far from objective, so something like a charger or Explo won't be able to pressure key areas. I'd say the best thing to do is wait for another teammate. Only a little amount of weapons (Tent) can take on 1v2s or 1v3s at best, allowing both people to escape.

Admittedly, it's a guilty pleasure of mine to spawn camp with inkstorm Squelchers. Even if all these tips go to use, I have the dodge roll, turret mode movement (I'd die without it). And most of the time stack Swim speed to break beacons quickly. So another strategy I'd say is to spam at them until their low on Ink, I usually have enemies that don't jump on it and get punished harder for it. Also, rush the camper with your team. P.S. may be a few years late, but tbh been working all this time so.. yeah. Squelcher is a amazing spawn camp weapon- don't even main it

Had this one roller in Shellendorf one time (during turf war) that always wanted to spawn camp. I picked up on it real quick so I always watched the routes. Sure enough he kept trying despite me splatting him a few times with my dualie squelchers. Eventually, after a few matches against me, he left. If it was just him being done for the day or him looking for another lobby I don't know but it worked well enough. Tl;dr: Another way to get rid of spawn campers is to be a spawn camper camper and prevent the spawn camping from happening entirely.
Tenta Missiles are pretty good too. It reveals the postition of the spawn camper and can ink alot of the turf, making their workspace smaller, and trying to ink the ground, making them an easy target.

In my opinion the most important thing is to know the basic rule of disadvantage in Splat Zones- Don't try to be the hero! You have teammates and while they aren't always good at worst they can still be a distraction for you to make a move.
Ikr i once came across a guy in splat zones and he wasnt helping the team cover the zones. Then i checked the map and saw him in the enemy's base. He died a few seconds later but then he went to their spawn again.... even when the entire enemy team is in the zones. I got so salty 😂
If he managed to get the attention of at least one of them it wouldn't be that stupid. A team should have at least one person that tries to take care of the other team while the rest care more about the objective.
Do you have any ideas on how to communicate with team members in regular turf war? It's been happening more often that upon joining a normal turf war, one where the only communication I have is 'booyah' or 'this way' (and of course, 'ouch' if I'm splatted), that the enemy team pushes to a point where they're all spawncamping my team. Usually in a way where, admittedly they cleverly block off most ways away from them, and it's near impossible for our team to get past or even attempt to be successful in the battle. Sure, it might just be turf war and nothing competitive, but it gets pretty sucky when game after game you often get stuck against a full or 3/4 of a team not letting you even move. I've personally always found spawncamping (or at least that level, in a non-competitive game and the whole team doing so) to be poor sportsmanship or unkind.
One thing you mentioned that I'm glad you did was that it is a viable strategy in Splatoon 2 to spawn camp. Truly it is lame and not fun, however these are some good tips to overcome that obstacle. Keeping calm is a very important one every player should remember. Also I want to add that if another player on your team spawns with you or wait for one to spawn you can try flanking and flushing out the spawn camper. Almost always does the camper get splatted when players work together that way. Also keep in mind that getting splatted is okay in this game, it's going to happen to anyone and everyone, just play smarter and keep having fun.
The respawn point is also a safe space for a team member that belongs to that side; the area is protected by an invisible wall which can only be seen when a player from another team tries to attack it. This means players can kill someone from another team without it being possible for them to be hit if their base is being attacked. This prevents spawn camping . This also acts as a barrier to knock the opponent who is attacking backwards, to keep the opponents from spawn killing and camping.
I remember like 3 turf war matches in a row where my team got spawn camped and it did not end well It was mainly higher-level players and my team had no idea what to do Nice video though, I'll keep these tips in mind
When the entire enemy team is spawn camping you in turf, you can just go out through the side routes and ink the map while they're busy hanging at your spawn.
The stay calm tip is so true from my experience if the entire enemy team is spawn camping whoever’s is reading this please do not funnel into the enemy team and try to rush them it will not work usually with spawncampers one or two will try to push up even more so pick them off once they’re missing 2-3 players than rush them together as a team and always try to find a weakness in the positioning by picking off those you can pick off
i will need these tips a lot cuz every time when now or never plays there is that one dualies main (why is it always dualies!?) who is in a tiny puddle and kills everyone who jumps out of my spawn
I play alot of turf wars. If im being spawn camped i usually just go the other way or super jump to someone else. If they are spawn canping then they arent really inking! May as well try your best to go to their spawn instead
This is great and all but I found as a charger that the best trick is to get to a safe-ish position still in spawn charge a shot and wait for the spawn camper to reveal themselves. Or have a teammate do it for you.
#4: Or just don’t ink the turf in front of the enemy spawn so that the only way to fill up their special is to come out of their spawn. And also for some reason that they do somehow have a special just stay far away and don’t move so they don’t know where to use their special. And if they do somehow by luck choose to use it near where you are hiding then use handy ninja squid if you have it.
Tip on the gameplay as it seems you suffer from same thing I do when using high range weapons, make use of range by staying a fair distance away instead of jumping an opponent.
Also everyone in the comments flipping out that you are in the video! I really hope that's alright? I recorded about 10 Rainmaker X matches and this one best showed the power of spawn camping in ranked especially near the end.
The only way I can see spawn camping in turf war would be if your pushing to their spawn after your side is covered and you’re advancing for more points and and coverage
if an ally teammate/you has/have squid beakons near the enemies' spawn and you have the sting ray/tenta missiles charged i suggest jumping to the beakon and using it
I always cover side routes out of spawn at the start of matches, and permanently have ninja squid as an ability, so if this happens I can sneak out, get high ground AND BLOBLOB THEM TO DEATH
During the recent splatfest I was using my splat rollor and we came across a team mayo. Well we maneged to get closer to their spawn. Not right outside it but on one of the platforms near the middle of Wahoo World. I was hiding in my ink just waiting for people to come down or walk up. It was pretty effective but a roller on their team managed to go the other way and make it to our side where they maneged to help that team mayo win. It was very interesting and O was team Ketchup btw.
Ok now advice on how to stop spawn camping on Arowana Mall? I feel like going into the base is kinda invading and to unnecessary so I wait outside with my teammates. I feel bad for the other team when this happens because I know there’s nothing they can do, but I’m not gonna loose. Also I’m putting this is smaller paragraphs because they’re easier to read lol. I have a feeling it’s mostly because we went straight for the gold, then we ended up getting all the map covered in our ink except for their base, then we just waited outside their base, not even in squid form. I just felt bad for the other team. The server was even full of rollers, which changed depending, but still. I used the Splat-brella, I don’t know what the stats are on it compared to other weapons, so I’m not sure if that was the issue. Sometimes we’d get on the other map, but it was somehow almost always Arowana Mall with purple against yellow, with me on the purple side. I don’t know how many times I killed Jaw and Papito. I don’t even know them, I just killed them the most and they were the longest to stay on the server. And they were rollers, this happened yesterday so I remember that Papito was a male octoling with a Krak-on roller. Ok, now that I’ve explained myself, can we get some help?
I have a question though, why does Vasko say its not that good to spawn camp in Splat zones. Isn’t that just the lockout phase after you get the zone. Surely it’s the best mode to spawn camp.

The respawn point is also a safe space for a team member that belongs to that side; the area is protected by an invisible wall which can only be seen when a player from another team tries to attack it. This means players can kill someone from another team without it being possible for them to be hit if their base is being attacked. This prevents spawn camping . This also acts as a barrier to knock the opponent who is attacking backwards, to keep the opponents from spawn killing and camping.
I remember like 3 turf war matches in a row where my team got spawn camped and it did not end well
It was mainly higher-level players and my team had no idea what to do

When the entire enemy team is spawn camping you in turf, you can just go out through the side routes and ink the map while they're busy hanging at your spawn.

The stay calm tip is so true from my experience if the entire enemy team is spawn camping whoever’s is reading this please do not funnel into the enemy team and try to rush them it will not work usually with spawncampers one or two will try to push up even more so pick them off once they’re missing 2-3 players than rush them together as a team and always try to find a weakness in the positioning by picking off those you can pick off

If they are spawn canping then they arent really inking! May as well try your best to go to their spawn instead

This is great and all but I found as a charger that the best trick is to get to a safe-ish position still in spawn charge a shot and wait for the spawn camper to reveal themselves. Or have a teammate do it for you.

And also for some reason that they do somehow have a special just stay far away and don’t move so they don’t know where to use their special. And if they do somehow by luck choose to use it near where you are hiding then use handy ninja squid if you have it.

I mainly use the ink brush, so what I do is just try to run through with that, hide, and then get them from behind.
It depends on the map though.
There’s now a shield on your team spawn place and if your spawn camped first get more ink and then throw the bomb on the left right anywhere

Tip on the gameplay as it seems you suffer from same thing I do when using high range weapons, make use of range by staying a fair distance away instead of jumping an opponent.

Isn’t splat zones one of the best modes to spawn camp and lock them out, since the objective doesn’t move?
Why didn't that one guy move with the Rainmaker at about 3:10? Could have gotten out of the way before getting splatted.
The only way I can see spawn camping in turf war would be if your pushing to their spawn after your side is covered and you’re advancing for more points and and coverage

if an ally teammate/you has/have squid beakons near the enemies' spawn and you have the sting ray/tenta missiles charged i suggest jumping to the beakon and using it

I always cover side routes out of spawn at the start of matches, and permanently have ninja squid as an ability, so if this happens I can sneak out, get high ground AND BLOBLOB THEM TO DEATH
During the recent splatfest I was using my splat rollor and we came across a team mayo. Well we maneged to get closer to their spawn. Not right outside it but on one of the platforms near the middle of Wahoo World. I was hiding in my ink just waiting for people to come down or walk up. It was pretty effective but a roller on their team managed to go the other way and make it to our side where they maneged to help that team mayo win. It was very interesting and O was team Ketchup btw.

I would mention also that you need to carefully check for jump beacons and destroy them. It's as bad as the campers reaching critical mass.

Pro strat: Get gear with ninja squid , and splat roller. Throw out sub weapon, swim in it and when you get to them jump out and one shot
the special one won't work for stingray, but as most weapons with stingray are long range weapons, you could likely pick the person off while in spawn

Ok now advice on how to stop spawn camping on Arowana Mall? I feel like going into the base is kinda invading and to unnecessary so I wait outside with my teammates. I feel bad for the other team when this happens because I know there’s nothing they can do, but I’m not gonna loose. Also I’m putting this is smaller paragraphs because they’re easier to read lol.
I have a feeling it’s mostly because we went straight for the gold, then we ended up getting all the map covered in our ink except for their base, then we just waited outside their base, not even in squid form. I just felt bad for the other team.
The server was even full of rollers, which changed depending, but still. I used the Splat-brella, I don’t know what the stats are on it compared to other weapons, so I’m not sure if that was the issue.
Sometimes we’d get on the other map, but it was somehow almost always Arowana Mall with purple against yellow, with me on the purple side. I don’t know how many times I killed Jaw and Papito. I don’t even know them, I just killed them the most and they were the longest to stay on the server. And they were rollers, this happened yesterday so I remember that Papito was a male octoling with a Krak-on roller.

I mean if you are the camper maybe try camping a little further back?
I have a question though, why does Vasko say its not that good to spawn camp in Splat zones. Isn’t that just the lockout phase after you get the zone. Surely it’s the best mode to spawn camp.

How all of the Chaos vs Order battles went. It was a Zerg rush to the other teams spawn. Mercy be on you if they got the MC Princess Cannon. I watched my whole team be atomized rushing out of spawn by that Booyah.
