The way I see it, the reason influencers don’t talk about MAC any more has nothing to do with the quality of the product, but because a) there’s pressure to constantly change products, brands etc; and b) they didn’t jump on the sponsoring/PR band wagon.
totally right and the miriad of other small brands claiming a piece of the pie, spending more money on marketing than in actual product quality, makes competition a little trickier
I’m so ready for MAC to make a comeback. Being a millennial, they were the brand that got me into makeup back in the day and are super nostalgic for me!
The BEST way to apply Mac Face & Body is with your hands. It has magic in it (film forming pigments) that activate with the friction. I pour a bit on my fingers, rub my fingers together until I feel it thicken, then apply to the face. I hate foundation and this is the only thing I wear! It can be layered up to medium or applied in a very sheer way. It’s so pretty for summertime!
Soft and Gentle is my FAVORITE highlighter of all time so far. When i put it on my nose, it literally looks like glass. True story, I wore it when i got my passport photo taken, and it was rejected because i was too reflecty lol
Now that you aren’t so into “clean” beauty so much, I feel comfortable saying MAC lasts forever. Yeah, toss the mascara and anything that smells. But the powders especially last forever. I’ve got a highlighter that will outlive me.
So agree! Some of my Pro Longwear concealers I’ve had for SO many years and the formula still performs as flawlessly as when that concealer was all the rage being the OG pre-Shape Tape full coverage concealer, proving (to me at least) that while waning or changeable trends and viral popularity may come and go, Mac and it’s staple products that built the brand it’s notoriety are forever and they are a brand that’s patient and confident enough to know this.
Yep i have blushes that are 18years old (not joking) and are still good, but anyway the expiring date on make-up is not to take so serious usually products last a lot longer, specially powders. :) If you are concerned about bacteria, but you see nothing wrong with the product otherwise, buy a make up cleaner instead of throwing it away.
I’ve got pigments in the OLD packaging. Some must be 15+ years old. I keep them more out of nostalgia than actually putting them on my eyes, but I swatched a few recently and they still perform fine! I also have a Heatherette lipstick that of course I’m not going to wear but it still smells like vanilla!
I really like that you have usually tried the items before sharing them and your thoughts. It’s more valuable to viewers than the standard first impressions.
It's been so interesting to see someone grow and change through snippets of IG and videos on TH-cam. Like when you first discovered more cool toned eyeshadows or even with dresses. I remember when you first had Simon and were happy to finally be out of maternity dresses and looking forward to wearing your more "tomboy" clothes. And now gorgeously chaotic dresses are your go-to. Random thought but it's been pretty cool to see CHANGE and someone who doesn't fight change. I hate change but seeing how gradually its happened on your channels....helps me somehow

I'm so excited about this video! People really are sleeping on MAC. I feel like they were the original brand that had 40+ foundation shades and their Viva Glam charity is amazing and has been around so long. I used to be one of the girls that had like 30 lipsticks of theirs and I would buy anything hot pink or coral that came out in their limited edition collections lol! Y'all remember the Liberty collection? I was obsessed!! Some of my faves now are: shade and shape brow duo (i've gone through about ten of these), ground work paint pot, wedge eyeshadow, skew lipstick and prep+prime natural radiance. Oh and of course the glow play blushes! Might be my favourite blushes of all time!

I so enjoyed this revisit of MAC. They were the only brand I used for so many years - talk about brand loyalty. I’m so inspired to go and pull out the things that are still sitting in the back of my collection and look at them with fresh eyes.
A tip on Mac face and body - it’s best applied with hands! I like to apply some to my fingers, rub it in until it feels tacky and then apply it to my face
I am a big fan of MAC and am so glad to see you give the brand some love! They really do have some fantastic and super reliable products! They have always been a go to for me when I want quick and simple but polished. I will never be without Fix Plus and the Painterly paint pot! Oh! And I have mixed the strobe cream and the pro longwear concealer and used as a sheer foundation 😍 Love your channel!!!
i love mac. i have been using their products for over 20 years and they rarely let me down. their eyeshadows are some of my all-time faves! and just to note, their refill pans are only $6, and if you don’t have a mac pallete- just put a magnet sticker on the back, and they’ll work in any blank(z) palette. their cream shadows are pretty good too! the lip glass looks great on you, i want it!
@@gianninal5455 sorry this is such a late reply but i believe you can get refills of blush and eyeshadow from Mac. all my single mac shadows were purchased this way. they cost $5 and the price went up to $6 at some point. you’re just buying the pan of shadow, no plastic component.
Hey Kackie. Love your channel. Have been a long time viewer. And I have to say this is one of the most beautiful faces of makeup you've ever done! Dazzlestyle is your ultimate eye i think. Everything about this look is stunning. I'm 42, a bit older than you but i havent been to mac since the early 2002's either and you've made me want to go back. I need the eyeshadow and the lipglass and thr lavender blush!
I used to work as a model back in the ninties and MAC products were the only one used backstage. Due to a wide shade range (today = inclusivity) and formula every model fairest to deepest was made up in the most beautiful way. I still love their complexion products, their eyecream and the lip primer. Sometimes I use their paint pots which are wonderful as well. I am 44 right now and I am a MAC girl for more than 25 years. Whatever is "new" to the market ... MAC offers it for years or decades. I used strobe cream 20 years ago, love face&body for years and years, they offer liquid, cream and power blush ...
I love this! I have recently gone back to Mac for so many things!! Back to Teddy liner and I’ve no idea why I was tempted by other shiny new stuff!! You need to try Club eyeshadow! It’s a mix of green and brown and depending on how you blend /pack it and the light hits it’s so beautiful
I mean, I'm absolutely excited for a full full face (setting powder!) of MAC part 2! This one was so much fun! And I would love to see more single shadows shades next time!
Thank you for making this video! I’ve been rediscovering Mac as well (2006 high school grad here) and it’s super nostalgic but also just SO fun to play with as a 34 year old. These were products I’ve either been lusting after or already tried - love it! I hope you continue to explore Mac makeup on your channel.
While I know they don’t proclaim to be one of those “skincare first” brands, the strobe cream has a super strong inci list. Rivals a lot of the spendy moisturizers out there, imo.
I think it’s interesting that you keep referring to MAC as a drag brand. I mean, it is, but more broadly, it’s a professional brand across the board: theater, editorial, filming, events, etc. it’s still the brand of choice for pro artists, everyone who works on weddings to film. It’s a performance brand, not an experience brand. MUF is probably the most similar, NARS used to be, but they are more consumer driven now
Love this video it inspired me to try MAC for the first time, went straight out and got the face and body and concealer. They are wonderful, it’s actually difficult to find a decent and not too expensive skin tint in Australia, a lot of the ones you recommended don’t get released here. Thank you 😊
I love this video! I was also going back to my roots this past year (back to MAC) and I've tried a couple of products, which I love, but I was waiting for you to try them out so I can get your recommendations!!! I was doing my makep while watching your video, so I also did a almost full face of MAC!!! I love it and miss it so much! s2
If it was still around, you would've loved the eyeshadow in Sumptuous Olive. It's kind of the same idea as the eyeshadow you used. Of the ones they still make you'd probably like All That Glitters and Woodwinked.
I loved sumptuous olive! I still have mine and a backup. It’s gorgeous. I hate that they keep getting rid of colors. I tried to buy vapour the other day and realized it was discontinued 🥺
So interesting to hear your thoughts! I'm craving that Dazzleshadow now. I would be careful swatching the bronzer, this formula notoriously hardpans. Also I really recommend signing up for their loyalty program. Great point perks and if you spend $150 in a year you can customize an eyeshadow quad as your birthday gift.
My point perks expired last year because their perks were so bad. I spent thousands and was not able to customize a palette. I love MAC but it has me buying more from Ulta for their points versus Mac’s points.
I’m about nc30 in Mac and i still purchase and use lots of their products have since the early 2000’s. A lot of women of color recommend the face and body hands down over the glossier skin tint. Im a c3. But during the ulta sale I purchased c4 to mix a little but yeah i never left Mac lol. Bobbi brown has always done me right too lol.
The MAC lip primer is phenomenally good and makes all lipsticks feel more wearable to me. I also like using the Pro Longwear Concealer as an eyeshadow base. Although the Matte lipsticks that I used to wear will last for a very long time, the LustreGlass and Love Me lipsticks feel more modern to me and are more enjoyable to wear. (I say this as someone who basically doesn't wear much traditional lipstick these days.)
Sweet Heat is hands down my favorite eyeshadow ever. Only one I’ve ever used up and repurchased. I love it as a one shadow look but love the idea of layering it! Fun video, thank you! 💜
My first thought was what are you wearing? That dress, the print ….❤️❤️..Omg, your fashion ascetic ( just like the makeup) just does it for me! So I’m hella psyched for this one! You have to admit Mac has such stellar formulations, even products that have been around for years still hold their own. I’ve been loyal to Face & Body for over 2 years now, it’s what I want all complexion products to wear & look like! Oh shit, didn’t realize the Laura Mercier locked down like F&B ….I’m so on that! That bronzers so pretty, the swatch looks really sheer like your not going to get much color but omg so not the case. Really like how this looks.
I'm twenty years older than you and Mac makeup was everything in my college years as well! To this day there are a handful of products that are staples that I haven't duped anywhere else. Their eye primer, the burgundy eye kohl that is the perfect shade for green eyes, strobe cream and the studio fix pressed powder. I love the smell of the strobe cream too. It's one of my favorite things about that product. The first eyeshadow single I ever bought was a bronze from MAC and I still have it and it's 25 years old and it still works. Also the fact that you threw a Loreal Infallible into the comparison, means I will follow you forever...I have so many of those from over the years. Such a great formula and another product that can be decades old and still usable.
I was so excited for this video, and you did not disappoint (but then, you never do) ! Now I'm totally itching to pay a visit to my M.A.C. counter and get all the goods ! I fell in love with make-up in my early twenties, and M.A.C. was my first stop for many years. Dying to revisit ! Thanks babe 💋
The blush in totally synced looks beautiful, I'm going to try it. My heart broke a little when I got the Illamasqua blush in Frisson after your epic cream blush video and on me it changed color so much that it turned a burnt orange within an hour or so. 😭 Loved this video Kackie 💜
I’ve never stopped loving Mac! I’ve stopped wearing a lot of the heavier stuff but fix+ is always a staple as well as their single eye shadows. If you get the pro pan palette to throw in your z palette they are only $7.
to be honest it does feel like Mac is returning very slowly but steadily, all the "fun" brands are experimental and you really don't what you're getting when you buy from them until you try it, but when it comes to mac you know it will deliver, doesn't mean every products will be amazing or to your preference, but in most cases it's good quality makeup that is meant to perform, and they cater for every preference
Even after all these years, MAC remains my favourite brand. I think it's the range of colours, and the combination of classic old-school formulas and innovative new ones that keep me hooked. I'm not a huge buyer when it comes to makeup, so reliability and specificity is key and MAC delivers!
The glow play blush is a cream to powder goes creamy and instantly goes into a satin matte. It's more of aa natural look to use your fingers and pat. Great video btw
I would love to see you compare the MAC mineralize skinfinish face power to the Kosas cloud set!! The descriptions seem really similar, but I haven't tried either power. Keep being you, Kackie!! You're killing it
I love MAC, it was my introduction to makeup too. I always found that they were ahead of their time with products I obviously didn’t understand at that time, like highlighter or bronzer lol. I love their Glow Play line- blushes and balms the formula is so good. I got reacquainted with MAC with these products and their brown liquid eyeliner.
Thanks for this, I picked up Blush Please on a whim today, and I'm pleased to see it passes the Kackie test. I don’t love the cheap packaging though, its feels filmsy
A week before my wedding (in 2009) I went to an Aveda salon to do my trial hair and makeup and ended up crying in my car because the makeup just wasn’t right. So I got my act together, drove to the closest Mac store, and the gal that worked there just absolutely saved me emotionally and literally. She gave me exactly what I wanted (a warm, Smokey eye) and I ended up buying those same products she found for me for years. Like everyone else I drifted over the last 12 years or so, but did order three neutral shadows a few weeks ago to check-in on my previously beloved Mac and they have not disappointed. Woodwinked washed all over the lid is just beautiful, doesn’t crease, blends out easily. Now they just need to bring back Soba.
I only tried face and body for the first time last year but I have to say it's my #1 favoriteeee. I'm dry as hell and it never makes me look dry when literally everything else does
Try the mineral skin finish natural. It more of a finishing powder than a highlighter like the the other skin finish. It’s bbbbeeeaaauuuutiful!.it has just the slightest hint of a satin glow.
Mac to me still make the best cosmetics on the market. I love the Amorous Alloy eye shadow, glow blush, face and body foundation, great makeup brushes.
I started later (like 2016) with makeup but I love MAC brushes make of natural bristles. Also I miss the 15 eyeshadow pans. I hope one day they will be back.
I’m curious- When you go into a MAC or Sephora, do you wear makeup so they can better assess what makeup vibe you’re interested in, or do you go in without makeup as a better blank canvas for swatches?
I think the obvious brand that you have not covered that does have some very good products (and ones that are appropriate for a variety of skin tones) is Bobbie Brown. Their foundation stick is very similar to Westman Atelier, but available in many more shades and I like it a bit better. Other products that I really like: eyeshadow sticks, powder bronzers and highlighters, pot rouge, Face Base primer, gel eyeliner (I only have used the pencils but a lot of people really like the pot one too). They also have new concealers and correctors that look interesting and are getting good reviews. And while I think their regular lipsticks are pretty yucky, the Art Sticks and lip pencils are quite nice. Maybe one of the more neutral Art Sticks with neutral lip gloss over it would be good for you. Also, their online makeup artists in chat all have been terrific if I just give them a picture of myself.
Wow ok well!!!! Well well I’m glad so so glad you did this video!! I’m grabbing the glass, tint , lips, I’m going to look at the check colors oh yes I will start with one shadow. I’m going to start there. If I can achieve that look with those prices well!!!!
For Christmas, I bought myself Spite and Hush (Mac Cream Colour Base). And I wondered how close is Spite to Nympho (thank you for making that connection too) and how close it is to Taupe from Merit? Also, HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend trying the Cream Colour Base for a creamy-putty stays-put but is not sticky, natural but present highlighter. I bought mine in hush for the peachy base and it is by far the best highlighter I have tried so far! I am curious how it conpares to the Cley De Peau highlighters too... 💚💄💚
Personally, I benefited from Mac's reformulation of its Face and Body foundation. In the original formula they didn't have a shade match for porcelain skin like mine, you had to buy the pure white shade adjuster to mix in which I am too lazy to do lol... Now Mac's new Face & Body Sheer Radiant Foundation in W0 is a great shade match for me.
Hehe face&body was the 1st foundation i ever got 18years ago, that and a chanel one that either got discountinued or renamed, not sure, but they were the ones that looked like skin. Strobecream was already existing then, but at some point they discontinued it, and now reformulated it and brought it back. :)
MAC Club is my favorite eyeshadow of all time. It was my one and done. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore but I love their Paint Pot shadows and Bougie kind of does the same thing for me.
I bought Bougie the day it was released bc I soooo miss my Club eyeshadow. I cannot get it to work for me! 😭 it just turns to brown and I lose all the reflect no matter how I apply!!
@@cstewart3759 such a bummer. Yeah it’s not the exact same. I do have the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone palette and it has a dupe in there. Perhaps you can try that??
I’m only as far in as the concealer but holy poo your complexion looks fantastic! ETA: An unexpected but not unwelcome surprise in the “slightly sunburned skin” blush category is the Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush in 110 Nude Kiss. It has an emollient, transparent base, rather than one that is white/milky, so it is truly a tap on sunburn. Also, the emollience adds to the believability, because you know how your skin gets shiny when actually burned? That. I grabbed it out of curiosity at Target and have not looked back. It’s now my base blush, just to add life before I really get into the colorful stuff.😘👌
i wear the same shades as you most of the time, sometimes slightly deeper, and Mac F+B W1 is a far better match than N1. W1 is like a slightly lighter Nars Mont Blanc, it is a little bit cooler too. I swatched N1 against it and N1 was horrifically peachy/orange. But the W shades in F+B were added with the name change and they weren’t out on the display stand at my MAC when I went last month - did you have a chance to try it?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the glow play blushes are sourced from the same manufacturer as the BareMinerals bounce and blur blushes. They’re basically the same product, and the brands’ newish velvet matte lipsticks are also the same thing with a few tweaks (the Em lip clouds and the BM velvet mattes truly are literally the same, to illustrate how different brands are pulling from the same sources). MAC’s regular matte bullet lipsticks have wild lasting power. A lot of long-wearing lip products in the past ten years have exploited the MAC-sized knowledge gap in younger people, because no one seemed to know that the matte MAC bullets existed.
I went to MAC to get my makeup done for high school grad back in 2007. I got one of their lip glasses with my makeover. It was my first non-drugstore makeup and I was LIVING!
Okay so I am 41 so when I was 21 MAC was EVERYTHING and I can't help but still have a spot in my heart. I still use paint pots, fix plus, and had a minute with their brow pen before I found the nyx one. 🤷♀️
I learned a lot about makeup with the MAC artists. Before You Tube and social media, they provided me personal tutorials for looks for different occasions. I would go sometimes alone, sometimes with friends to a counter or store and they’d suggest how I’d put a look together with different products.
I miss the original mac face and body. I tried the new one and it wore different unfortunately. Hope they bring back the old one because it’s the only foundation I wear. And yes! You must use your fingers to apply this and it looks absolutely beautiful.
Mac face and body has been around for a very long time, I use to work for Mac almost 15 years ago. Face and Body is the #1 foundation that all makeup artist have in their kit, you can build it to have more coverage. There is still nothing else on the market like it
The way I see it, the reason influencers don’t talk about MAC any more has nothing to do with the quality of the product, but because a) there’s pressure to constantly change products, brands etc; and b) they didn’t jump on the sponsoring/PR band wagon.

That dress is incredible. Please do more fashion content!
Love this video it inspired me to try MAC for the first time, went straight out and got the face and body and concealer. They are wonderful, it’s actually difficult to find a decent and not too expensive skin tint in Australia, a lot of the ones you recommended don’t get released here. Thank you 😊
I replayed the "sneeze into continuing to talk without missing a beat" 3 times. Beautiful. Classic. On brand.
Totally. She’s on a mission, a Mac mission!
I love this video! I was also going back to my roots this past year (back to MAC) and I've tried a couple of products, which I love, but I was waiting for you to try them out so I can get your recommendations!!! I was doing my makep while watching your video, so I also did a almost full face of MAC!!! I love it and miss it so much! s2
State of Kait is gunna be so pleased that you are onboard the MAC choo-choo. 🙂
I love MAC!!! Please do an updated MAC haul with their current products! 😊
I think you would also like the shade Lovechild in the Lipglass!
This was awesome. 2001 HS grad, and yes MAC was everything back then. Still have MAC brushes that I will probably never need to replace!
I graduated 10 years after you and still Mac was all the rage! I feel like Mac is timeless!
Such a great formula and another product that can be decades old and still usable.
i loveeee your dress and your makeup looks reallllly beautiful. 💕💕💕
Oh man you missed a golden opportunity to call this video “Return of the MAC”
This!
Solid lol
to be honest it does feel like Mac is returning very slowly but steadily, all the "fun" brands are experimental and you really don't what you're getting when you buy from them until you try it, but when it comes to mac you know it will deliver, doesn't mean every products will be amazing or to your preference, but in most cases it's good quality makeup that is meant to perform, and they cater for every preference
Mac is supposed to have a tubing mascara. I would love to hear your thoughts on that. I use Thrive's but it does flake off into my eyes on occasion.
Even after all these years, MAC remains my favourite brand. I think it's the range of colours, and the combination of classic old-school formulas and innovative new ones that keep me hooked. I'm not a huge buyer when it comes to makeup, so reliability and specificity is key and MAC delivers!
Yay!! I love Mac! I don’t have quite as many Mac products in my collection these days, but I still love them!
You're killing it
Oh I love that gloss color, it looks so weird in the tube but super flattering on the lips! I need to pick that up again.
This is great! Mac has so many great products. Some of my faves and I love the simple packaging and it’s lightweight when you travel!!
The eye shadows are stunning imo
I love MAC, it was my introduction to makeup too. I always found that they were ahead of their time with products I obviously didn’t understand at that time, like highlighter or bronzer lol. I love their Glow Play line- blushes and balms the formula is so good. I got reacquainted with MAC with these products and their brown liquid eyeliner.
So excited to watch as soon as I saw your IG that your video was up had to hop over and watch 😃
going to have to try the blushes, I love the bareminerals bounce and blur ones but they only had like 4 shades.
Great stuff, Kackie :) C thru vinyl and Oyster girl are my desert island lipglosses.
Thanks for this, I picked up Blush Please on a whim today, and I'm pleased to see it passes the Kackie test. I don’t love the cheap packaging though, its feels filmsy
That lip glass color is THE VIBE on you! 💖
New subbie here. You are a delight.
I’m a former Flight Attendant and we all wore MAC back in the day. I still love it.
I only tried face and body for the first time last year but I have to say it's my #1 favoriteeee. I'm dry as hell and it never makes me look dry when literally everything else does
You need to try the cream color base as a highlight! It’s lovely
Try the extra dimension highlighter in doublegleam that is so gorgeous
Try the mineral skin finish natural. It more of a finishing powder than a highlighter like the the other skin finish. It’s bbbbeeeaaauuuutiful!.it has just the slightest hint of a satin glow.
Mac to me still make the best cosmetics on the market. I love the Amorous Alloy eye shadow, glow blush, face and body foundation, great makeup brushes.
I started later (like 2016) with makeup but I love MAC brushes make of natural bristles. Also I miss the 15 eyeshadow pans. I hope one day they will be back.
Ohhhhh, I can't wait to get that gloss! I'm loving WA Garconne, but I do want a cool toned brown. Going for it!
they just came out with an illuminating primer too, I’m excited to try it
I love it!
The MAC glow play blush is an AMAZING topper for the Rare Beauty soft pinch blushes!!
I love this video! People hate on Mac but they were the original makeup brand
The glow play blush reminds me of Maybelline bouncy blush!
I wear N0 and it actually works quite well and your typical shades are paler than mine
I’m curious- When you go into a MAC or Sephora, do you wear makeup so they can better assess what makeup vibe you’re interested in, or do you go in without makeup as a better blank canvas for swatches?
I go bare faced!
Ah Kackie!!! Please check out the lustreglass lipsticks too!!
I absolutely love that you covered MAC!!
the bronze on your eyes 😍 and the lip color on you 😍😍
Personally, I benefited from Mac's reformulation of its Face and Body foundation. In the original formula they didn't have a shade match for porcelain skin like mine, you had to buy the pure white shade adjuster to mix in which I am too lazy to do lol... Now Mac's new Face & Body Sheer Radiant Foundation in W0 is a great shade match for me.
Nooo Kackie, you will adore the lustre glass lipstick formula, I promise.
There’s nothing like them 😍
I’m not a lipstick person, usually.
Perhaps you can try that??
try MAC's starry night shadow !
@@owletnightjar thank you!!
Recommend studio waterweight foundation and double gleam highlighter.
😂❤️❤️❤️
i wear the same shades as you most of the time, sometimes slightly deeper, and Mac F+B W1 is a far better match than N1.
I came here to say this. I’m a C1 or W1 in this foundation and match Kackie in a couple brands.
I wear mont blanc in the new nars foundation And in face And body c1 is waaaay to dark for me, i bought c0 And Mix the two😅
Mac’s face and body will always be in my base collection. There’s just nothing else like it. It wears beautifully in summer weather too
I’m so glad I found your channel!
Mac face and body is hands down the best!!! Specially when i lived in florida!
Okay so I am 41 so when I was 21 MAC was EVERYTHING and I can't help but still have a spot in my heart. I still use paint pots, fix plus, and had a minute with their brow pen before I found the nyx one. 🤷♀️
Bahahaha ... you had me at "Back to Mac"
There is still nothing else on the market like it
Hi, do people find the F&B drying. I do have mature dry skin, any suggestions.
@@tanyaadamchuk9303 Face and Body is quite hydrating, I'm 67 and have worn it forever
