I’d say this is spot on. The iPad Pro is too much like a laptop, but still not as good as a laptop. Unless you’re a digital artist, you should avoid it and just go for the air or mini. I use the mini more than my pro for tablet things. And whenever I use the pro, I constantly keep missing having a full OS.
I've fallen in love with the mini 6 since the first keynote. I use it every single day and I love having all my planners, notes, to do lists, games and doodles on it. I thought the 60Hz LCD was going to be bad since using OLED iPhones, but the screen is very good, vibrant, good sound, AND SO FAST. I can't get enough of it. So this is what loving and object feels like
@Sam0 B00 apple uses micro LED screens on all the MacBooks pro and on higher end iPad's and that technology is better than the LCD technology, just watch my video about their Studio Display with LCD panel and how many backlight leaks it has.
@Sam0 B00 i would say you are mixing something. Micro LED has a deeper blacks and better colour rendering. The best regarding all is OLED. Which is still LED display

I am so happy with my iPad Mini 6. As you said it's great for content consumption, especially reading. I also love how compact it is. When I travel, it barely adds any weight to my bag. I look forward to the evolution of this device.
I switched to iPad Mini 6 from 11Pro just a month ago too. So far the best tech items I have ever bought. Love how portable it is and could easily fit in my jacket.
I have side pockets in my shorts and I also carry it in the small of my back. Use it morning, during the day and last thing before going to bed. So hand and compact. I have had a tried all the other iPads and settled on a Mini 1 when it first came out 2008 or 10.
The iPad mini has the best form factor ever. It's the iPad for the flights, the train, the roadtrips, anything that you would want a tablet for. Regular iPad and the pros and airs are hybrid laptop replacement, which are not quite as good as a laptop for serious work (except artists that draw, for architects, etc)
Switched from M1 Pro iPad to mini for 2 months. I really enjoy the experience I had with the mini as it is ultra portable and holding it on hand is just so comfortable and not feeling the tiredness I had with the pro. BTW I have chosen the 64GB 5G version which allows me to save some storage and stay instantly online ✌🏻
Hey Thanks for watching! I just connect it to my iPhone for network since I have flat rate connection. But for my use case I would prefer on device storage 😁 so I think I’m gonna change it for a bigger storage one. 😁
Hell naw im gonna switch my ipad pro 12.9 m2 to ipad mini 😂 i play alot of games like ragnarok x next generation and nba and do sketching, 3d and editing… if that ipad mini has m2 then i will
@@TomislavMoze Does ur workflow require sufficient storage on device? woudn't ssds be enuogh for lightroom work for a hobbyist or is 256 gigs of on board storage better?
Is right….lower the music volume on your videos next time, it’s to loud. Listen to your critics they will make you be a better content creator and don’t listen to the one that will tell you what you want to hear. Just a suggestion. Your content is great by the way! 👍🏼
I have a Mini 6 and had a Mini 1. I used my Mini 1 so much that I bought a Mini 6 when it cam out. I carried the Mini 1 or now the Mini 6 everwhere I go. (My iPad Mini 1 along with my iPhone 7+ Battery both died about 5 months ago) The Mini fits in my cargo shorts or my cargo pants pockets also carry my iPhone14 Pro Max. I use the Mini last thing before going to sleep. Can I live without it, Yes, but prefer not too. I just wish Apple would update the software more often on the Mini 6. I Plan to buy a Mini 8 if it has updates that I need.
Why are you all acting as if 10-11“ is big or heavy? Its a nice usable size and allows for somewhat partially usable splitscreen/„multitasking“, tho its still very very limited and annoying sometimes. The iPad Mini is just a slightly bigger phone. I liked this formfactor also once, mainly as oversized „iPod“ with video, web, gaming features and more. But as soon you use the device more often or serious stuff, even if its just taking notes and little bit and very basic word/office the iPad Mini is just „bad“. Sure better than the iPhone Mini but so abysmal to even a „small“ iPad Air. I had the iPad 2 (2011, too slow and buggy since long ago) and later a 2nd hand iPad Mini (pre pen support era), since i am back on the „regular“ sized iPad im so much happier with it again. But my main usecase is notes, editing/marking pdfs, little bit content consuming and gaming. I can personally only compare an older Mini without pen and „slow“ already to a Air 5 with Pencil 2 support and damn fast M1 so the difference is day and night, but i guess the actual iPad Mini isnt much better just because of the „super small“ screen.
I love my iPad mini 6. I have no need for a big iPad. If I want a bigger screen and better speakers, I can just use my MacBook Air M1. My wife has a 2-year-old iPad Pro. I see no difference in screen quality. The resolution on this Mini is actually slightly higher according to specs. And I like the fingerprint ID. It works every time. FaceID on iPhone works 90-95% of the time for me so I don't miss it.
It really just boils down to one question: do you need an attached keyboard for your iPad to get appropriate use out of it? It’s a classic use-case/needs question that so many miss. If you need good portable typing, there’s a slim chance the mini is for you. If you already have a laptop, the iPad Pro is probably redundant unless you plan to regularly utilize the pencil. Also, people have for some reason forgotten about the Smart Folio keyboard. Still a great keyboard, and maintains the good portability.
Hey thank you for watching and for commenting, I use. it in so many ways but I'm more productive typing on a physical keyboard. The problem with smart folio keyboard is that you cant use it on your knee so that was the reason I didn't go for it, since when traveling I do often type like that.
@@TomislavMoze to each their own! But I certainly disagree with the claim that the Smart Folio board can’t be used on your lap. I had zero issues/complaints with regular lap use myself.
I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 8 years ago. I did not like it for browsing - I use my 14" laptop for that and an Apple TV for viewing. So - after 8 years of ownership, I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "travel" to do the following - with % used - give or take: #1- as a GPS unit in a vehicle - the best GPS ever (70%) #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%) #3 - as an eReader (4%) #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%) After these years, that's about all I have used the mini for (I don't game) Otherwise it sits in a drawer. Since it is on it's last leg - I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out later this year.
Hey thank you for watching! All iPads are actually great, my father still uses my original first iPad, it is insane how long the life of this devices is and how well they age!
@@TomislavMoze YES - Your right - I've gone through several MacBooks (that have died or were severely throttled-:) in the same time I've had the iPad mini. The only issue with the Mini is the battery - but that is not a real issue for me - as I can have it pugged in for the most of what I use it for.
+1 to your comment about an iPad Mini Pro, this would be a fantastic companion device if we could have Stage Manager, hell I wouldnt even care if it only output a 1080p 60Hz signal, just the extra screen real estate would be a game changer. Unfortunately, that would probably eat into Apple’s 11 & 12 ipad pro sales so, i dont see it happening but sometimes Apple surprises us. Also love the 14 inch MBPro! Great balance of portability, power, and portals!
I did the same thing. Bought a used 11inch M1 iPad Pro and decided to sell it for an iPad mini. While you will miss Face ID and the Pro Motion, everything else is pretty much the same user experience for casual users. I personally find the mini to be better as a "mobile tablet". It's way easer to hold and manage and large enough for content consumption. It doesn't outrightly try to be a MacBook replacement which saves consumers from disappointment. I'm hoping that at minimum, the iPad mini 7 will: - resolve jelly scrolling - have a brighter display - have Face ID - have camera improvements - have bigger RAM - At least an A18 chip - have a 128gb option
@@TomislavMoze yeah it's fine for most people. If only the 8-inch tablet had bigger demand in the market, im pretty sure Apple will capitalize and make a more pro model. Unfortunately, we're not really seeing a lot of tablets being produced at this size. That goes to show that the iPad mini is a niche market. Are you getting the 7?
@@andrewlauchengco7923 i agree and now with Huawei 3 fold phone The future it seams will probably go in that direction. I didn’t order 7, currently have to many other expenses and 6 holds up still really well ☺️
I just traded in my iPad Pro m1 for the new Mini 7! I have the Mini 6, but my daughter wanted it so I have it to her. Can’t wait till tomorrow! Great vid!😊
Your comments on using an iPad as a laptop/desktop replacement mirror my own experience. The Files app IS NOT a Finder alternative! I purchased a Mac Mini and love it.
Watch one video about the iPad Mini because I’m pining over the form factor and suddenly my TH-cam recommended is flooded with people who ditched their 11 inch iPad for the mini one… I’ve determined that there’s very little I’d actually use the iPad Mini for, even though my iPad Mini 2 I had in high school was my favorite smart device ever the iPad Mini 6 likely wouldn’t be able to recapture the magic. Now that I have a phone that fits comfortably in my pocket but still has a decently large screen, and has a better camera, and has a better screen, and has a phone number and cellular data, an iPad Mini couldn’t possibly do everything I need to be a phone replacement like it was in high school. I KNOW that I would be disappointed. And still I find myself wanting to buy one…
Thanks for your video, it closely mirrors how I’m feeling. I tried to make my full whack M1 iPad a laptop replacement, but as a software developer it comes up short in every way; even if the intention is to chip away at tiny bits of project work or even just learning on the go I know I’ll love the mini as a content consumption device, but there’s always a worry that the screen and speakers on the 11” Pro will be something you always crave (especially now that it’s even thinner than the mini)
Totally agree. I did the same, and got an ipad pro as a backup to my 16“ MBP. But I also discovered that all the reviews are lying 🤣 It‘s not a laptop substitute, mainly due to the file handling, but also due to the limited multitasking and other things. Unfortunately, the ipad has a small crack in the screen (it never dropped, so I‘m not sure where it came from) and I can‘t really sell it. So now I have a luxury netflix device 😁
Wow! I can see that this is a very honest in contrary with most of reviews out there. Some manufacturers nowadays are forgetting the purpose of having bigger screen device but still practical with device like laptop 🤦♀🤦♀
Have been using IPad Air 4 for 2 years and completely related with the use case. It’s very big and uneasy to use for longer periods. Planning to switch to IPad mini 6 but not sure whether to go with 6 or wait for 7
the Air 5 or 11“ Pro as well. Just not with the thick and heavy „Magic Keyboard“. Without a case its just impressive how light and „big“ of a screen the iPad Air 5 has. The M1 is enough reason to avoid the iPad Mini as long it doesnt get a faster chip or pro variant. Im using it actually for university mainly beside a 16“ M1 Pro base model MacBook and its just the perfect compromise when „geared up“ properly and in usable and especially usage fitting way (and the expensive Magic Keyboard is rarely a solution!) My „magic keyboard“ is even better…. a classic 2011 Apple Wireless keyboard with 2x AA batteries lasting for about 12 months, full function key support on iPad Air 5 and a basic magnetic cover (to use iPad without ANY cover easily) cost about 50$…. 20-30$ the 2011 Apple keyboard (BEST low profile keys apple ever made!) and 20-30$ a basic cover/stand. Since i use the iPad at home and for office/web stuff mainly on desktop via USB-C on a monitor a completely splittable keyboard is a charme, especially since everything is „full size“ keys (for a notebook size) and considering they are the best keys you can get (low profile). My 2011 Apple BT keyboard (and 2010 15“ MacBooks Pros KB) was writing the last 12 years a lot, not even the new „good again“ keys from apple are as good as the 2008-2014 ones. So i got 2 2nd hand 2011 keyboards, even in better shape than my „abused“ one for cheap.
With regards to upgrade to the Mini 'd happy with the M1 chip in the Mini which would allow proper external screen support. Sure a dedicated keyboard from Apple would also be a great addition, but not absolutely necessary.
Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.
It seems to me that an iPad mini with a Keyboard (or without the keyboard), can replace a laptop to the same degree that a larger iPad can do, but it will give you much more portability and ways to use it, since it It is lightweight and very portable compared to others
I challenged myself to work solely from my iPad Pro for about 6mo. Sure I got the job done but was it as enjoyable or efficient or seamless as it would have been on a computer? No. I still love the iPad for the pencil, I love getting away from my desk but still being able to edit. So I was planning on upgrading this year to the new model but I’m having a hard time justifying spending laptop money on something that can’t perform as well as a laptop. Waiting for next iOS update to see if things will finally change
Love my mini 6 … but I already knew the Pro isn’t a laptop and neither is the mini. They are Tablets and and they don’t have terrible file systems, they have great Tablet file systems. They are supplemental to desktops or stand alone Tablets, not “replacements”. They’re so powerful people confuse their abilities with Laptops … they aren’t Laptops. iPad is its own device, in its own category. It’s competition is a Tab 7, Tab 8, Lenovo, etc … not Laptops. A iPad Pro is a Pro TABLET. The mini 6 is awesome my go to.
hey thank you for watching and commenting, I don't agree, considering that they all now have a docking options where they transform into a computer or with a keyboard into a laptop the file system should follow that transformation. I hope in the near future apple will release a solution that transforms form one to another seamlessly. Even apple marketed iPad as a computer, but it didn't follow with the OS.
I have both the mini 6 and the 12.9 M1 I use my iPad Pro strictly for movies in bed because I really take advantage of that MINI LED DISPLAY the HDR is on another level And I use my iPad mini for writing my journal and playing a few mobile games as well my favourite reading device
If Apple goes the step and give the iPad mini 120hz I will instantly buy it with no regrets. I want nothing more than 120hz on the mini. And (but that’s unrealistic when talking about Apple) I want oled on the mini.
I did the same thing this weekend and I‘m happy that I have an iPad that‘s light. It should be called iPad air mini. I would buy an iPad mini Pro, but I‘m happy with the current one. I like the 326ppi on the mini, maybe the next generation gets 120hz.
@@VanGoWanderlust I think M3 is a possible chip to get in to the mini, if its gonna be build as rumoured. It's gonna be more power efficient which is important for a small device like this one.
Hey thank you for watching! I think if I had the 12.9" I would have done the switch much sooner. I presume with the magic keyboard it weights a ton :D Hope the video helped in deciding? :)
Тоже поменял Про на мини 6, не заметил разницы в частоте экрана. но зато в количестве PPI сразу видно, ну и вес с габаритами решают в пользу малыша ...
Truly interesting video! This helped me a lot to decide what ipad I actually wanted. First I wanted a pro version but the older ones from 2018. But now I just don't see it as my best option. Recently I had vacations and traveled by plane a lot. I bought a Samsung galaxy tab s5e and it was already a bit difficult to use it on the airplane because of it's size. The ipad mini has the perfect size, moreover it's very capable. Also love the note-taking possibility that offers with the apple pencil. I don't think they may offer more advantages to this ipad because it could overshadow the other models. But we can dream sometimes. 😂😂😂
I think i am about to do the same.. Ipad pro is a powerful device but limited by its OS, at this point my 11 inch its just a Netflix machine... I think i will wait for the new mini and trade
Yeah I’m currently thinking about switching. Like, I love my pro 12 inch but the better portability appeals to me with the mini and I already have a desktop for better computer stuff. Astropad works with the mini too so I can still use it as like a wacom display tablet with my desktop like I have with my pro if needed. So that’s nice. Thankfully, trading in will knock down the cost a lot so it’s definitely tempting. I suppose we’ll see what happens :)
I’ve had an iPad Pro M1 for nearly 2 years. Not sure about it these days though. I use it a lot but it has a lot of shortcomings that a Mac solves. I am thinking of selling it for the next iPad Mini if it gets the same chip as the iPhone 15 Pro.
If the Mini had 120hz and an M1, I would’ve absolutely bought it instead of the M1 iPad Pro 11. It does have an amazing chip that is almost M1 status but it’s just not going to get the support that the M1 will with Stage Manager and stuff. The Mini has Center Stage and a flashlight, which the Air didn’t have. Since
Amazing review! I just got the iPad mini 6 and I love it! I don't even take my laptop to client meetings now and im a web developer! Such a difference in travelling to London and back! Can you do the keyboard review please? Looking to get the one you shown in this video but wanted to see what you thought first :)
Hey thank you for the comment. I do plan to do it. But unfortunately this part of year is really busy for me so it is hard to find time to do a review 🥲
I love mine. I’ve had it since it first came out. However, as you mention, the Files system is still really bad. I wanted so badly for it to be my main device for travel. Since I take a lot of photos and videos, I thought it could be great for transferring and editing. Nope! Transferring large files is an absolute mess. Sometimes it would completely stop in the middle without any warning. There’s also no timer to tell you how much longer it will take (that little pie chart circle is useless). So unfortunately for now, I still need to lug my laptop on trips.
I can at least copy/backup my cameras 128GB UHS II card easily. Never had any issues but the 128GB SD card is backuped VERY fast internally and not too slow on UHS I microSD. I use a SD + micro SD card reader with a 512GB micro SD always inserted and i copy from the fast 128GB camera SD card to the 512GB as backup to be able to format the 128GB card after copying for a fresh SD card in the camera. Basically 640GB storage for longer trips or longer 4k60 10Bit recordings. What i found a super annoying issue - the iPad/iPadOS lets you think you can import RAW photos. Good luck trying a RAW (!!!!) photo imported via iPad into Photos App and synched via iCloud that you can pull a cameras raw file out of the MacBooks Photos App…. NOPE! Just JPEGs! Still the „RAW“ tag in the photos app remains on any device. This fact pretty much destroys the usability when it comes to photo editing when you are relying not only on the editing, but also (AI) denoising process with DXO PureRAW on Mac/WIndows etc. There is not even on the Mac (Ventura) an option to acess the „raw“ file directly via finder or copy it at least into finder folder or desktop (as REAL camera Raw for proper processing with original EXIF! Please, Apple!)
I love my mini 6 aswell! Best purchase so far… i would really love apple to make that kind of detachable keyboard case but still light weight.. also bigger battery and 120hz in pro or nxt gen mini since instead of opening my desktop, the ipad can handle some quick genshin grind before i go to work 👌
I have an IPad pro 2108. I do alot of drawing on it . I like to faceid . I don't like the weight of it especially when I'm drawing. since I don't lay the ipad on a flat surface. I tried setting it up as a computer replacement. (I have a windows PC). I got a Logitech keyboard mouse, In the end I just couldn't make the transition. I like the looks of the mini and the fact that it is lighter. I don't do any travelling. So that's not an issue for me. Should I sell my Ipad 11 and get a mini? That's the big question. If I wait until the mini 7 comes out I might me alo to get min 6 even cheaper then they are now. What sre your thoughts? Your video was intriguing and makes me think before I buy a mini.
Love the video and the edititng! But... This is a random question but could you let me know what is the monitor stand you are using? I have been searching for a while now but yours seems exactly what I have been wanting!
You have the link in the description. It takes time to get used to. But it works for me and I have large hands. Just the transition from a normal keyboard to this tiny one takes some time.
Great review video - thanks. Have you tried any of the powered docking stations that add the versatility of making it part of a desktop setup with monitor, full size keyboard, mouse, flash drive, sd card access etc?
I didn't have the need plus the whole thing about turning it to a desktop setup is not well made it doesn't have the same desktop mode as the new pro unfortunately. Thank you for watching!
Cool video Tomislav. I recently switched over to the iPad mini from the Air 4. I agree with you, I use it much more. I’ve also been using it as my mobile tethering device with the Capture one app.
Hey my friend, Thanks for watching. I have to say I’ve been avoiding tethering for ages. I never liked that my clients look at unfinished work 😂 need to try capture one again. Never saw advantage to Lightroom everyone is talking about.
@@TomislavMoze 🤣 I always apply a look to the images, to give the client an idea of what the final product would look like. But tethering helps my commercial work as it becomes more of a collaboration with all the crew members, Hair & Makeup and stylists. It's more about perfecting the shots rather than showing unfinished work haha. Capture One is better software for tethering, and it is incredible how it handles colour.
@@mpumelelo_macu I think my current shootings are usually really hectic even the bigger ones, cable would be in my way, but thinking to check the Capture One :D

Thanks man, that was very hepful. I got the 12.9 Pro as a work device and was very confused, why everybody and their uncle is hyping the large model so much Way too heavy and bulky, one-handed operation is nearly impossible. I´m thinking very hard about getting the Mini...
Hey thanks for watching and I’m really glad I helped! I think the large one is great maybe for illustrations and watching Netflix in certain situations ☺️
I really wanted to try the iPad experience and my friend had the iPad Mini 6 and I really like it. I will try the base 64gb first cause I will only use it for work so I won’t save any photos or videos on it and will keep few apps.
I’m not going to say that I got “scammed” when I bought my 12 inch pro because it isn’t like they lied but I really hoped it would be closer to an actual Mac since it has the same hardware. I was thinking of switching since I don’t use it as much as I should. Have been watching a bunch of videos that are basically the same so looks like this is what I’m doing this weekend
Great content and new subscriber. I always take my own 12.9” iPad Pro with me on business trips along with my work laptop (so I can use GoodNotes in meetings and watch content in the evenings but it’s too much of a hassle. The iPad Mini seems to be a great replacement option - thanks!
Great video and very helpful. I'm moving from my iPad Air 4 to the mini for its portability. Thank you for helping with my decision. BTW, is your lovely snowy screensaver/ wallpaper(?) available anywhere to download?
Hey thank you for the comment! The screensaver is an animation I created for a TH-cam channel that never got active. I don’t have the original file anymore.
I have been using the ipad mini 6 since the day it released. I recommend people to buy ipad air M1 instead. Good for eyes read, hand held, and performance.
My pro was the same form factor as the air. I and I was much happier with mini. The only thing I lack is a brighter display when I use it outside on a sunny day. Few of my friends did the same switch and they are happy with it also.
Great review. I’ve had the 11 inch pro and had same experience, considering the mini option. Apple really needs to fix the file handling issue issue with iOS. Unfathomable this handicap still exists.
Hey thank you for watching and for sharing you opinion, who know maybe they are checking all the reviews that are suggesting and decide to change it. :D
how big are the files you are transferring and how „fast“ are your external storages? I only had issues with a SUPER SLOW (down to 20MB/s) 1TB external SSD, but anything from regular USB 3 sticks to slower UHS I micro SD cards is for me fast enough to copy about 110GB of data. I even copied already over 100GB big screen recording files to a fast (150MB/s+) USB stick without running in any issues. And im not even talking about the 11“ Pro up to 40GBit Thunderbolt Port, i have „just“ the iPad Air 5 with slower 10GBit USB-C port! The only issues i have with iOSs file handling there is no way of checking free/used storage on external SSDs etc, its not very intuitive when you have to do more complex file sorting stuff, renaming etc. But for the basic stuff and especially the stuff iPads are made for the file explorer is AWESOME (basically a free PDF-editor and much more). Since i use it mainly for university/notes/pdfs and rarely to backup my cameras fast 128 GB SD card (to a slower, cheap 512GB micro SD) i am not too handicapped by it, but here and then its for sure super annoying how „simple“ they keep it.
Hey I do plan to do it, already have some bullet point script for it, but work just doesn't allow it...I hope this month I will release the video comparing it to another great keyboard solution...

Hey Thanks for watching! I just connect it to my iPhone for network since I have flat rate connection. But for my use case I would prefer on device storage 😁 so I think I’m gonna change it for a bigger storage one. 😁
Yeah I’m thinking about doing this too at the moment
Hell naw im gonna switch my ipad pro 12.9 m2 to ipad mini 😂 i play alot of games like ragnarok x next generation and nba and do sketching, 3d and editing… if that ipad mini has m2 then i will
@@TomislavMoze Does ur workflow require sufficient storage on device? woudn't ssds be enuogh for lightroom work for a hobbyist or is 256 gigs of on board storage better?

I love seeing more people come over to the mini gang. My dream is also for apple to give the mini more storage options and promotion display.
Hey thank you for watching, same here love that so many people love the mini. That could raise the chance of the next gen getting all those features 😁
This video seems targeted at me as this is exactly what I was about to do
Did you go thru with it?
Did the same. Kinda wish Apple would recognize "Pro" users that would like a smaller device, both with the iPad and iPhone.
I couldn’t agree more. My ipad pro 12.9 sits around the corner now. I love the mini
Hey there thank you for watching, the ipad mini is one of the most underrated gadgets in the apple eco system for sure!
Give It to charity :)
I saw the mini in an Apple Store & really liked the little bastard.
Yesss! A pro version of all the minis would be epic! DJI did it, Apple should do it too, with the iPhone mini as well!
I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 8 years ago. I did not like it for browsing - I use my 14" laptop for that and an Apple TV for viewing.
So - after 8 years of ownership, I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "travel" to do the following - with % used - give or take:
#1- as a GPS unit in a vehicle - the best GPS ever (70%)
#2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%)
#3 - as an eReader (4%)
#4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%)
After these years, that's about all I have used the mini for (I don't game) Otherwise it sits in a drawer.
I'm hoping that at minimum, the iPad mini 7 will:
- resolve jelly scrolling
- have a brighter display
- have Face ID
- have camera improvements
- have bigger RAM
- At least an A18 chip
- have a 128gb option
well half of your wishes did come true. I wished they made it more pro. but for a lot of people this will be fine :)

Hey thanks for watching, yeah you are right Would love to see magSafe and wireless charging! My desk would be so much nicer hahah
I just traded in my iPad Pro m1 for the new Mini 7! I have the Mini 6, but my daughter wanted it so I have it to her. Can’t wait till tomorrow! Great vid!😊
thank you. for stoping bye, I believe you gonna enjoy the 7 :)
Your comments on using an iPad as a laptop/desktop replacement mirror my own experience. The Files app IS NOT a Finder alternative! I purchased a Mac Mini and love it.
Hey thank you for watching and leaving a comment! I did love my mac mini! It could handle some serious work when I had it!
Many such cases. Love my mini. Lte. Pencil. Cargo pants friendly. Cheap. All the road warrior needs
Watch one video about the iPad Mini because I’m pining over the form factor and suddenly my TH-cam recommended is flooded with people who ditched their 11 inch iPad for the mini one…
I’ve determined that there’s very little I’d actually use the iPad Mini for, even though my iPad Mini 2 I had in high school was my favorite smart device ever the iPad Mini 6 likely wouldn’t be able to recapture the magic.
I tried to make my full whack M1 iPad a laptop replacement, but as a software developer it comes up short in every way; even if the intention is to chip away at tiny bits of project work or even just learning on the go
I know I’ll love the mini as a content consumption device, but there’s always a worry that the screen and speakers on the 11” Pro will be something you always crave (especially now that it’s even thinner than the mini)
I did the same! But I had the 12.9. It was too much for me, the mini is perfect and using the Apple Pencil 2 is even better on the mini for me.
Hey thank you for watching! Glad to hear that, iPad Mini is so underrated!
Hey there thank you for watching and sharing your story glad I’m not the only one that thinks like that!
For my needs it’s a laptop replacement.
But it depends on the use case, and I can see why for some people it’s not a substitute
I have the ipad pro 5th gen 12.9 inches and considering to move to a mini .. these comments n video is really helpful.. thanks guys
Glad to hear that. If you do The switch let me know how it goes?
Wow! I can see that this is a very honest in contrary with most of reviews out there. Some manufacturers nowadays are forgetting the purpose of having bigger screen device but still practical with device like laptop 🤦♀🤦♀
Yeah I agree, thank you for stopping bye and commenting, means a lot!
I have the iPad Mini 6 and, coincidentally, that same keyboard and cover combo. I really like them both.
Hey, thank you for watching! It is really a great and affordable solution, worth every penny!
@@TomislavMoze It sure is. I use the iPad for content consumption (books, movies, etc.) and my Mac desktop for the heavy duty stuff.
Have been using IPad Air 4 for 2 years and completely related with the use case. It’s very big and uneasy to use for longer periods. Planning to switch to IPad mini 6 but not sure whether to go with 6 or wait for 7
Same here
Yes, the size of the mini is really comfortable to use.
the Air 5 or 11“ Pro as well. Just not with the thick and heavy „Magic Keyboard“. Without a case its just impressive how light and „big“ of a screen the iPad Air 5 has. The M1 is enough reason to avoid the iPad Mini as long it doesnt get a faster chip or pro variant.
Im using it actually for university mainly beside a 16“ M1 Pro base model MacBook and its just the perfect compromise when „geared up“ properly and in usable and especially usage fitting way (and the expensive Magic Keyboard is rarely a solution!)
My „magic keyboard“ is even better…. a classic 2011 Apple Wireless keyboard with 2x AA batteries lasting for about 12 months, full function key support on iPad Air 5 and a basic magnetic cover (to use iPad without ANY cover easily) cost about 50$….
Sure a dedicated keyboard from Apple would also be a great addition, but not absolutely necessary.
hey thank you for stopping bye and commenting 🙏If I could choose between M1 and a keyboard I would chose the keyboard 😂
Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.
there are some good options, thnx for watching :)
IPads can never be a laptop replacement. I do all my editing tasks in my desktop. I use IPad for lite tasks only.
Yeah I really wanted something smaller, wish apple returned the 12" macbook and just put the m1 in it.
I agree about the music volume. It needs to be much quieter….or….preferably…..gone altogether.
In the future videos both problems where resolved 😁
I have both the mini 6 and the 12.9 M1
I use my iPad Pro strictly for movies in bed because I really take advantage of that MINI LED DISPLAY the HDR is on another level
And I use my iPad mini for writing my journal and playing a few mobile games as well my favourite reading device
Hey thank you for watching! I totally agree with the wish list 😁 I would ad thunder bolt connection also. For easier file handling 😁
I want an M1/2 ipad mini! I would love the ability to plug it into a monitor and get a full-screen mode (stage manager?).
@@VanGoWanderlust I think M3 is a possible chip to get in to the mini, if its gonna be build as rumoured. It's gonna be more power efficient which is important for a small device like this one.
This is correct. People don't seem to get that the iPad is a content consumption device, not a content creation device.
Jap, I mean for some niches it could be a perfect creating device but mostly it is content consumption and simple tasks device.
great video! I have the 12.9" Ipad pro and I'm considering switching to the ipad mini for the same reasons you did.
Hey thank you for watching! I think if I had the 12.9" I would have done the switch much sooner. I presume with the magic keyboard it weights a ton :D
Hope the video helped in deciding? :)
The 12.9 is even worse, such a pain to handle! Gorgeous screen but for movies, I got a tv lol
Тоже поменял Про на мини 6, не заметил разницы в частоте экрана. но зато в количестве PPI сразу видно, ну и вес с габаритами решают в пользу малыша ...

Hahaha same story with mine, but at the end not even that 😅 thank you for all the support my friend!
@@TomislavMoze always 🤘
Hey there, thank you for watching it really means a lot! I’m so glad that videos that I put so much effort into are helping people ❤️
I’m using my iPad as a laptop right now. For right now, I think it’ll be ok. Until I feel I need a laptop, I’ll be using the iPad and brydge keyboard.
Ah yes. The only reason why it is quite difficult to make it into a laptop replacement is the bad file management. I couldnt agree more.
I am sure it will improve but agreed
Thanks for the video..I'm also hesitant to buy the iPad 11.. think I'll go with the mini 😊
Hey there thank you for watching and glad I could help ☺️
Thanks for sharing!
Sorry I have to say this:
I like the look of your video. The color, the composition, etc 😊😊😊
Hey thank you for watching and for the lovely comment!
I’ve had an iPad Pro M1 for nearly 2 years. Not sure about it these days though. I use it a lot but it has a lot of shortcomings that a Mac solves. I am thinking of selling it for the next iPad Mini if it gets the same chip as the iPhone 15 Pro.
That would be awesome also the M3 looks good since it’s so power efficient. Thnx for watching!
A pro variant of the iPad mini would be an insta buy for me. I have never owned an iPad.
Loved your video, crisp informative and wholesome
Thank you so much 🙏
If the Mini had 120hz and an M1, I would’ve absolutely bought it instead of the M1 iPad Pro 11. It does have an amazing chip that is almost M1 status but it’s just not going to get the support that the M1 will with Stage Manager and stuff. The Mini has Center Stage and a flashlight, which the Air didn’t have. Since
I actually don't miss the 120hz I do think that is a bit overhyped at least for my use-case, I would love to see centre stage for sure!
Best purchase so far… i would really love apple to make that kind of detachable keyboard case but still light weight.. also bigger battery and 120hz in pro or nxt gen mini since instead of opening my desktop, the ipad can handle some quick genshin grind before i go to work 👌
I think with M3 that could happened 😁I hope 😁
I would wait. I do travel a lot and that is the main reason I prefer the mini.
Love the video and the edititng! But... This is a random question but could you let me know what is the monitor stand you are using? I have been searching for a while now but yours seems exactly what I have been wanting!
hey thnx for watching and for the lovely comment, it is VATTENKAR from Ikea, I used the drawer from ELLOVEN that I previously owned. Hope that helps
I just bought me an iPad mini 6 it’s my first iPad so far I like it I just have to get used to using it fully

Thanks for this. Can you tell me which case/keyboard you bought for the ipad mini 6? I will be typing on it and wondered what you might recommend.

Hey thank you for the comment! The screensaver is an animation I created for a TH-cam channel that never got active. I don’t have the original file anymore.
i feel like mac mini + ipad is kind of the ideal apple setup
What about for video editing, can you use Aodbe Premiere/lightroom/photoshop on it?
Well never tried video editing, I prefer to have large monitors for that so I always do it on the desktop setup. Lightroom works great.
Have you ever think of using the mini 6 as a phone? Thanks
Hey, actually I haven't I do like to have a phone as a separate device :) thnx for watching!
Is there one that doesn’t have the apostrophe needing two keystrokes?
Unfortunately I didn’t see one 🥲
@@TomislavMoze hvala drug. Uzeo sam mini 6
Yeah honestly ipad mini 6 very love it. easy for everything.
hey thank you for stoping bye!
@@TomislavMoze if there will be ipad mini 6 M1 or M2 chip, that's different story.
So size doesn’t matter?
I owuld say it does matter, but sometimes smaller is just better :D
Will you review the keyboard?
Hey I do plan to do it, already have some bullet point script for it, but work just doesn't allow it...I hope this month I will release the video comparing it to another great keyboard solution...
@@TomislavMoze thank you!! Was a great video w a lot of help for us
My biggest complaint with the iPad mini is the poor battery life.
yeah I agree, not sure if they can make it better. But maybe with more efficient processor they could.
Great video, glad I came across it!
Word of advice, you might need flash warning for that intro or a less intense intro. Could easily trigger seizures in some.
Thank you! I will try and find a solution for that, never considered it in that way 😅
Thanks, Man, you should have more likes. Very informative, Nice Production Values, and Personal Preferences help as well. thanks for posting Take care.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment ☺️
Ipad mini has prefect size to fit into most of sling bag, would be prefect if equippedwith m1 chips in upcoming mini7
🤞 although I do think if it comes wit M series chip it’s gonna be M3
Thank you for the review ! Is it possible to watch TH-cam in 1440p or 2160p on this version of mini ?
hey, thank you! it is possible to watch it both 1440p and 2160p
@@TomislavMoze thanks a lot !!
Nice video. What's the keyboard pls? I can't see or find your sticky note about the detail and link?
