Brian Stanley, Sinn Féin TD and the chairman of the Dáil’s public accounts committee PAC tweeted that the Kilmichael Ambush in 1920 which killed 17 members of the Royal Irish Constabulary’s Auxiliary Division, and the Narrow Water Ambush in 1979 which killed 18 British soldiers, taught the British army the cost of occupying Ireland.
