I was brought up in Portadown, Northern Ireland as a staunch Protestant. When you grow up in the climate you think that "the other side is bad" and you're on the right side. Today I am in Brazil and when you get out of the country you see how stupid it is, the whole affair. Grown men in July walking with "hard men" looks on their faces, red cheeks, and banging drums with no real sense of what their history is.
The English don't care about us. Boris would get rid of us if he could. Yet people want to die for being "British". There is no more war, but people still live like there is.
I am a British citizen, and proud to be. But there is a very messy story in Northern Ireland and I can these days looks at it more objectively. I condemn how these 2 men were treated. People were killed and the document was rightfully leaked. Fair play to them and to the judge. May we see peace and harmony soon in my wee country and the death of violence and hatred!! 🙏

The IRA were terrorists, Freedom Fighters, and fanatics. How much of one or the other depends on your viewpoint. But the Protestant Paramilitaries, working in collusion with the government where the state already had the power of the courts, police, and military at their disposal, to carry out extra-judicial executions, revenge, or terror attacks - those were Death Squads. And these journalists were brave to risk them.
Whether it is Black & Tans (and the hero, or monster, Winston Churchill -- again, that pesky viewpoint bit), the Ulster Volunteer Force, or Guatemalan military and irregular forces, trained by the US, engaged in genocide that has since resulted in convictions - shows that it can happen in the "civilized" world, very easily in fact.
And then there is Shinzan and Tibet, where extermination is government sanctioned, and the Taliban when being a fanatic is something to be gloried in. But saying see how BAD these cases are should not provide cover for Death Squads...

i did not know about this , isnt religion so terrible. coming from the noth of england we had terror like the falls road them days a mixed marriage was a prosident and catholic .... we in manchester most of us thought uou should be an iralnd as there is an ocean between us, i hate religion cos i imagine a world before words and books when there were 4 contients north, south east west. we are all mixed . i guess i am a nationalist i like coulture i want england to be england i want france to be france and spain to be spain. i was lucky in 1984 i travelled round europe by train and hitchiking. it was wonderful , ended up living and working in crete for 9 months altho it was ilegal as they were not in the european union then. i am sicked wht religion has done to all of us. devide seperte and watch us kill eachother.i beleive but not in books . i beleive in massive planets we dont even know and univeces beyound are rockets , i think we came from other planet to spend time on what was a beutiful animal planet . i dont think we come from them but we certanly have become them. sadly nationalism is looked at as rasist and fasist how can that be when a bird will defend a nest from another bird that hasnt built there own. it natural. how sad . i look at all the dead equally regarding what they were in body. a spirit never dies sadly now you see in there eyes they do not have one on this planet has become power money greed and ego........ without religions we maybe of not been blinded with rules and seen spirits and then we would never kill what holds that spirit. so so sad.....
