Who Was Behind the 1994 World Cup Massacre? | Investigators

  • As Ireland played Italy in the 1994 World Cup, armed gunmen burst into a bar in rural Northern Ireland - shooting six innocent men dead as they watched the game. For decades, the case was left unsolved, despite the fact that the Police had troves of forensic evidence.
When journalists Barry McCaffrey and Trevor Birney began investigating, they found evidence that the British state had colluded in the murders. When they released it in their documentary ‘No Stone Unturned’ - they were arrested and had their homes and offices raided by police.
This is the story of a fight for press freedom.

Today I am in Brazil and when you get out of the country you see how stupid it is, the whole affair. The IRA were terrorists, Freedom Fighters, and fanatics. How much of one or the other depends on your viewpoint. But the Protestant Paramilitaries, working in collusion with the government where the state already had the power of the courts, police, and military at their disposal, to carry out extra-judicial executions, revenge, or terror attacks - those were Death Squads. And these journalists were brave to risk them.
Whether it is Black & Tans (and the hero, or monster, Winston Churchill -- again, that pesky viewpoint bit), the Ulster Volunteer Force, or Guatemalan military and irregular forces, trained by the US, engaged in genocide that has since resulted in convictions - shows that it can happen in the "civilized" world, very easily in fact.
And then there is Shinzan and Tibet, where extermination is government sanctioned, and the Taliban when being a fanatic is something to be gloried in. But saying see how BAD these cases are should not provide cover for Death Squads...

‘Shinzan’? Do you mean Xinjiang? Anyway, look into how Tibet was before the PRC invaded (hint:awful)

But loughinsland was not a republican area with no paramilitary connection so why gun down innocent people there? Simple because the shooters were bigots like Nazis in the death camps
