I’m an ex British soldier , and always believed PIRA were evil men and women who killed kids ordinary civilians and needed stopping no matter what !! But now after having been to Northern Ireland and have friends there on both divides , I now believe that these men and women ! Fought for catholics who couldn’t get houses jobs basically they were treated as second class citizens, they were having there houses ransacked by army and police and there is always two sides to any situation! Lots of atrocities have been committed by all sides ! And depending on where your moral compass is the IRA were either terrorists or freedom fighters! But regardless of history on both sides hopefully now and the future can all people in Northern Ireland live together in peace !! Look to the future but always learn from the past !

I feel like good interviewers can usually hide their contempt a little better than this. Asking tough questions without an accusatory tone can make them tougher. But when the interviewer gets a little wound up and the interviewee is calm as can be, credibility can become shaky. And whatever you may think of Gerry, you ought to know he's much too slick for that, and has been spending the last half century fielding questions like this.

Marxist Sinn Fein often like to go back many centuries. If you want to go back as far as the 11th century you'll know that Ireland was NEVER "invaded" without invitation that the history books like to forget. A Gaelic KING in Ireland felt betrayed by the Pope, that king invited an army from Britain to get what he saw as his kingdom back and under his rule. And I wonder what the Native Americans felt about their continent on the East Coast being colonised by so many Irish people...

Born and raised in Sweden, at a safe distance from Ireland. To me, Gerry Adams comes through as an honest man who talks straight. And as a keen observer of body language, I think it is very obvious that he is telling the truth.
Why is it so hard to understand that the IRA might have respected him big time and listened to his advice, whitout him being a member? Why is so hard for some accept that it is very possible to be a Republican, defend IRA's war against the Brittish Army, but condemn IRA's killing of innocent? Do people have a need to see everything in black or white?

@Bear Grylls Da fuck? The first bomb planted, first civilian killed, first policeman and soldier killed, was done by a loyalist.
Why do you think the LVF rarely operated in the south?
Because the protestants there, needed no protection from the catholics.
The British Army was sent in to protect catholics from sadistic loyalist death squads.Think about that.
You people want to start the clock at when the IRA fought BACK,and ignore the murder and mayhem that caused it.
No,Queen Elizabeth has the most blood on her hands. She was/is the commander in chief of the British Army, who colluded with loyalists to murder catholics, unimpeded for decades, before Adams was even near the IRA.
God,imagine if France invades and occupy's your country, murders and maims English people for 50 years, takes away democracy and rights to a trial, join the police etc...what would you do?
Sit idle? Or pick up arms to defend your people?
Fuck sake,I wouldn't call any Englishman a terrorist for defending his own people,in his own country, yet when English people do the above, suddenly the natives are terrorists for fighting back.

I recently discovered that my great grandad was an Irish revolutionary. The point is that Ireland is one country and British determination to keep a part of Ireland under its control will break. Probably sooner than later as Sinn Fein took the electoral road, tacked towards the middle ground whilst not forgetting its revolutionary history, and now has the support of huge numbers of people throughout the Ireland of Ireland. Gerry Adams is an extremely clever man, an effective leader and speaker who can now see a United Ireland as a reality. I think it might happen during my lifetime and I believe this would be a positive development. The hatred and bigotry found within elements of the loyalist community, the anti Catholic nonsense, a system based on gerrymandering political and economic control to the Protestant settlers in the North, all make for a poisonous brew and it's now time to burst this nasty boil...and return Ireland to a united situation where Britain has no more influence over it than France, Italy, Germany...

Adams & McGuiness are/were both crypto-jews. Neither of them have expressed the least concern with significant numbers of non-whites entering Ireland against the wishes of the indigenous people. They harp on British power over Ireland, but the British whites have a hell of a lot more in common with the indigenous Irish than do Somalian Muslims.

Everyone knows he was head of the IRA army council. The reason he denies it is fear of civil claims from its victims, the criminal law has failed to - or does not want - to get him so all that is left are civil suits which would cost him. He is an extremely wealthy man and wishes to live out his remaining years in comfort.
