    Real monster that Ahola.. So much smaller than the rest but could outlift them anyway specially in deadlift, amazing.

      He's specifically built for the deadlift. He wasn't a great preser, although not bad. And he was pretty good at loading events and races but not the strongest Svend was stronger than ahola

    Jouko Ahola had that really good technical lifting method and smart decision maker in strength. He is not genetically strong like most athletes on the field (for example like Jon Pal or Bill Kazmaier) but he is a "smart strong" guy who knew to score more point in order to be consistent in the top 3. That is the reason he was consistent to made through to the podium with his only 3 times competing on WSM back in late 90s.

    What the hell was up with Flemming and the log lift? He bounced it off the floor which should be disallowed, racking up an insane total in a very short amount of time, yet the referee disallowed his last rep which I thought was actually fine?

    • @hydro.pl.27
      @hydro.pl.27 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was fine, Dougie is was very inconsistent and if you pissed him off or he didn’t like you you’d get screwed over on one or most of the events.

    Probably one of the strongest finals ever, you basically got the best strongmen ever of 6 different nations: Finland, Denmark (this can be discussed), Sweden, Germany, Norway and Fiji. It is maddness... Oh yeah, and it's always lovely to watch Ahola throwing up at the end.

    Are those not the smallest "trophies" in recorded history? By contrast, you look at the ones in recent years, they have their own gravitational pull. Big shout out to Bolin Cryce though, WSM hall of famer, no doubt.

    Some of the events were too light and ended up being a speed race instead of more emphasis on power. The overhead press for example looked too light.
