    Carmax Car Buying Experience ||Accused of Committing a Crime?!?||.
    We decided to make a purchase of a used vehicle from our local Carmax dealer based on the fact that the model vehicle was nearly impossible to find in our region. This being said Carmax is able to show you pretty much the exact vehicle you want from their national database and provides an upfront shipping cost to ship the vehicle to you.
    We eventually got he vehicle we wanted but not before jumping through a few hoops and even got accused of committing a crime. Craziness!!!! You let me know in the comments down below if you think this was crazy.

Was told it can take up to 7-14 days for the money to be refunded and incase im still interested they would cover $399 of the transfer fee if I find another car with them. But I've already found another from an actual dealer. That's newer has more opinions in the trim level and a little over $2,000 cheaper although it has more miles it has a better carfax history report on maintenance now im just waiting for the dealer to get me a good lender

    I would've just walked out.... Any salesperson says that to me & I'm done. Keep my transfer fee, I don't give a shit. I wouldn't waste my time at CarMax to begin with & their 'no haggle' nonsense. F that, I'll pay what I think it's worth & it's a used vehicle.

    I had a great experience with CarMax. They told me that it would take 14-days to ship in, but it only took 7. I went and looked at the car, decided to buy it. They financed me on the spot. I was in and out in about an hour. To me the experience was great.

    When dealing with any car dealer the buyer must be alert and cautious. They are not your friend. Their job is to get as much money from the potential customer as they can and they will say or do just about anything to make that happen.

    I walked out of that place as soon as the sales rep stood over my shoulder like I was a child and asked to log into my bank on a public computer to reprint my bank statements i already provided after providing paystubs. No other dealership ever does that. Took my 30k loan somewhere else

    • @janderlaurencio1042
      @janderlaurencio1042 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They wouldn’t be verifying that if you had a 30k loan from another bank they should’ve give you a bill of sale and you should have gone to your bank shown them that and you come bank with a cashiers check we verify it when you get here definitely not by logging your not your bank that’s if you’re running an application with them financing with our lenders so if you went with them they have to verify everything the sales rep was just doing what he knew the managers accept in order to approve in stipulations

    I was looking at a car in Las Vegas and drove it. I told the salesperson I see another one 2 years newer and in my favorite color. I would have drove over there. It was about 30 minutes away. She went in to her computer to ship it to her store for free. I thought that would be same day or next day. 5 days later I'm waiting for them to inspect it. The salesperson really wanted the credit for a sale.

    Man, I am trying to purchase a used Lexus GS350 from Carmax. Never dealt with them. I have financing through my credit union. From all I have heard, they charge too much for the cars and give way below KBB for your trade in. I have decided that if I can not get KBB for trade in (2018 Kia Stinger GT) , I am out the door. They do not haggle on prices, why stick around.

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I kind of lucked out because we didnt have to do a trade in, but we really couldn't find a YukonXL with black interior, bucket seats, and dvd players in our area and this enabled us to get it to us a bit easier. So if there isn't many of the GS350 on the market you just might have to use them.

    That's not what a straw purchase is at all. A straw purchase is implying that someone is buying something for a person who is typically not legally allowed to own said item. For example, buying a gun for someone who is under the legal age or is a felon. It's not implying someone will give an item to another person and not pay it off, it's implying you are buying something for someone who isn't allowed to have that item for whatever reason. In this case, it could've been a credit issue, or the salesman could've been wrong in assuming that your wife wasn't allowed to buy a vehicle in the first place.

    I did the online appraisal for my 2015 kia optima sxl with 48000 miles on it, the online offer was $18, 000, so I take it in for the in person inspection and this car is super clean and I mean it's super clean. I get the" in person offer" and it's a $1000 less, they said it was because I have an engine modification, witch I absolutely don't, they couldn't even tell me what the mod was, three different people talked to me and not a single one knew what mod my engine had. The only thing I have on there is a catch can to stop oil from getting in the intake manifold through the crank ventilation system witch is super important for a turbo engine.

    A straw purchase is buying something for someone who doesn't have the legal right to own what you're buying. It has nothing to do with whose name is on the loan or who will be making payments. Unless your wife can't legally purchase or drive, it's not a straw purchase. It sounds like you and the Carmax sales agent were both a little fuzzy on that point.

    The finance rate wasa BS story by the dealer. The dealer finance manager takes the buy rate, which is the rate you were approved for and then bumps that rate. YES that's another income stream. Dealers make more money of the finance and service department than the car sdales department. I hope you didn't fall for the other menu items such as worthless extended warranties, tire repair and so forth.

      @@BreakFreeHomestead SO I get that it was annoying for the financing and it was unprofessional to call it a straw purchase (Even if it was a straw purchase- which it wasnt.... as long as they have a qualified borrower agreeing to loan terms, its none of their business)..... but the 3 month promise to fix anything is actually kind of a huge feature when shopping for preowned cars.
      If you can find a reasonable deal on a used car and you are able to find the color, features and mileage you want.......Carmax is worth going too. Their extended warranty programs are actually some of the best in the industry and they are very reasonably priced (relative to aftermarket warranties on used cars)

    • @Nflguy4949
      @Nflguy4949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BreakFreeHomestead That’s not the point. You are trusting a used car dealer to give you the best loan terms. You will always get better loan terms from your own bank/credit union then you will get from a dealer especially on a used car. So when a customer walks into a dealer and hasn’t already secured their own financing well let’s just say the dealers love it. The dealers love that almost as much as they love getting a customer to think in terms of monthly payment instead of overall cost of the vehicle.

    • @Nflguy4949
      @Nflguy4949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When car shopping always get preapproved for a loan with your bank. Then you can give the dealer the opportunity to beat it if you wish but usually the dealer will try to throw in bs financing fees that your bank wont.

    And I thought my experience was a bit frustrating lol. I made an appointment to do an EXPRESS 24hr. test drive. When I sent them my DL, and proof of insurance, I had to call up my ins. co. and add the vehicle and a selfie by computer. They called not once, but 4 different salespeople to tell me, the DL and selfie could not be scanned, and I had to use my phone. Ok. so, I got all that straightened out. Then they called me and wanted to set me up for payment (cash buyer). I said wait a minute; I have not even seen the car yet lol. Ok so the next day I am on time for the test drive, and they have the paperwork all screwed up and ready for me to purchase! So much for the EXPRESS test drive. Now they had to re-do everything which took another 45 min. We loved the 2020 Toyota Rav4 XLE Premium, but we were not going to pay their elevated price. lol
