  • We're behind the wheel of the all-new third generation Kia Soul on our full tour and review of this subcompact crossover.
    10 years ago Kia launched their first Soul, a square subcompact crossover in a market with the Scion xB and Nissan Cube. Fast-forward 11 model years and the Kia Soul is the only car left in this niche segment. We go in-depth with their 3rd generation 2020 Kia Soul EX Limited.
    Our full tour and review of the 2020 Soul EX covers everything you need to know about this vehicle, including the exterior design changes. We go over the features like full LED headlights, heated mirrors, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, backup camera, rear cross traffic alert, and smart key access.
    Inside we discuss the new 10.25" infotainment system and 8" colour head-up display, along with the leather seating with front heat and ventilation and rear outboard heat. The Soul EX Limited also has a heated steering wheel, 10 speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, dual zone automatic climate control, LED interior lighting, and sound activated mood lighting.
    We take the 2.0L Nu engine on a comprehensive road test to talk about how this vehicle performs and handles on the road, including our thoughts on it during daily driving duties. We go over the fuel economy we recorded during our time with the Soul, and what we liked and disliked about this sub-$30,000 car.

    Was looking for a specific review for the 2020 EX model and I didn't expect to find one so funny and concise. Great video :)

    Taking delivery of an EX model tomorrow - in my view, the best value for the money with all the convenience and safety features I need. Mine is red. Looking forward to driving it!

      Well, I got it, and with only a couple of hours, it’s just fine. Firm ride, but controlled. Installed winter tires and alloy Kia rims so I’m ready for tomorrow’s snow. Love the heated steering wheel and seats. Studying the huge owners manual and infotainment guide. Looking forward to using Apple Play and audio system.

    Your tester looks SO GOOD. I wish we could get it just like that in the USA! Also, you get full "leather" seats which aren't available at any price in the states. Again, crazy how the trims are shuffled from Canada to USA. You guys are killing me, KIA!!! Can you get a Soul with the 1.6 turbo at all in this generation in Canada? I seem to remember hearing somewhere that it was 2.0l only up there. P.s. Thank you Nile for sacrificing your arm in the window test, after it didn't stop for the hamster I'm like "WHAT GIVES?!" I thought how I wish that you'd shove your arm in there, but how I'd probably be too afraid myself. You did, and it worked. Great info to know! Some of them seem like they could cause some pretty serious injuries.

      The differences between the US and Canadian models is getting pretty wide now. The leather seats are a nice bonus, I noticed that when researching the specs for the car, since the US media website has all the details, but our Canadian site has nothing. As of right now the 1.6T with the 7DCT isn't coming for the Canadian market, but we are getting the 2020 Forte5 GT-Turbo with that setup by fall.
      RIP to Hammy the Soul Hamster.

    • @JT-fq2bl
      @JT-fq2bl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason Canada is not getting the Soul GT turbo is due to the upcoming Kia Seltos Turbo. I ha vcd e a feeling that the Soul will lose it turbo engine if the Kia Seltos comes to the U.S. The Seltos will also force the Soul to be true entry level in the Kia lineup like the upcoming Hyundai Venue.

      Nice! I'm surprised the hatchbacks aren't sold in the US for a lot of cars, you'd think there'd be a better market for it there since sedan sales in the US are doing better than they are here in Canada.

    why did they remove the grab handle for the drive and leave the indentation in the headliner to make it look obvious that it should be there. My 2016 Soul SX has that and it really irritates me that they have removed it. I don't mind them removing the grab handle but if they are going to do it at least amend the headliner other manufacturers do that. They have done the same thing with the new Seltos and also its the same on the Hyundai Venue.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't say why they removed it in the first place, likely to do with cost-cutting. The reason there's still a spot for it is due to global markets, it allows them to make 1 headliner for left and right-hand-drive vehicles, and just install the handle on the appropriate side based on the market.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not here in Canada unfortunately, you can only get solid single tone colours, whereas in the US there are a couple two-tone options, I believe the black with red is still an option.

      I hear ya, I don't think we'll be seeing it with the Soul unfortunately, but Kia's new Seltos is meant to be the AWD alternative to the Soul. Boxy in a lot of ways, but different look altogether.

      if its just for everyday northern ontario use (work commute , errands , etc.)an above average set of winter tires will work well . Your already higher off the ground than a sedan so that helps too .I drove a 99 civic with above average winter tires for 10 years in northern ontario winters and it was like a little tank in most winter conditions .

      @@markl8043 been leasing CRV's since 2010 (currently nearing lease end on a 2016)so I too love the extra security that awd offers but have always had my eye on the Soul since it came out . I like the practicality of it since our CRV is a little too big for our needs we've been looking into the variety of smaller suv's the automakers are putting out there . I'm likely going to buy-out my lease on the CRV and see what type of trade in offers we can get when / if the covid19 situation settles down . There could be some really good deals out there come Sept-Oct as dealers will likely be hurtin . No wonder you like the Soul ; you drive an Element - honda dropped the ball by not continuing production of it imo . Take care

    Why does Kia and Hyundai treat Canadians like wer'e second class citizens,we get only half the warranty the USA gets and they get more colors and and engine choice,maybe Canadians have to complain to these companies about this,we should get the same options and waranty as our neighbors to the south.

    • @JakeDrives1
      @JakeDrives1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Canada gets full leather/vinyl seats where the USA only get a cloth/vinyl combo at best. The wheels on his tester are GT only in the states. The GT is 1.6 T-GDI only in the USA. Also, I don't know that we get the brightwork in the grille on anything but the GT in the USA. There's the EX designer package in the states that is 2.0l motor with the LED headlight set up, Cloth/vinyl combo seats and some unique wheels that kind of look like an evolution of the last gen exclaim wheel. I'm loving the new soul but I wish I could build it how I wanted, where I wanted.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a really wide divide between the US and Canadian spec vehicles. We're getting the 2020 Forte5 in a few months, but I believe it won't be available in the US. Unfortunately Canada is 1/10th the size of the US market, and manufacturers often have to make changes so they arent stuck with inventory they can't sell. I don't agree with the differences, but perhaps Kia will eventually add some of the options up here. I do like the leather seating though, I think that's a big miss on the US models.
