@@sleekcurlz I started today alone and messed with the frozen order. The handheld shut down and I was lost, I felt sad and scared. The second time I did better, in less time. I like General and Ambient order and I don’t like Frozen and Chilled😢. I basically ran with the cart. Super scary for beginners like me. Could you give a advice about frozen and chilled? Do in 30 minutes 75 items is scary! 😞😫
Any time your handheld shuts down see if you can reboot it and if that doesn’t work try another one. I’m sorry that you felt that way, and I completely understand being that you’ve just started. Yeah general is ok, just the area is very busy and ambient is cool too. My advice for chilled and frozen is to try and carefully. It’s ok to take your time but not too long, I know if you’re kicked out of the walk then the rest of the items will go to someone else to pick. I say when you have the time try to learn your chilled and frozen sections of the store, to remember where everything might be. After a week from when I started I knew where everything was and management is understanding. In my opinion I’d frozen is easier than chilled because chilled items have meat and sometimes it’s hard to find the right meat for customers. Also you’ll have to find chilled produce, so definitely make sure you walk around there as well to see where everything is. The more you do those walks, the more it’ll get better for you. Give it a week and if you have any questions I’m here and don’t be afraid to ask other co workers if you can’t find an item. I hope this helps, keep me updated! ❤️
@@sleekcurlz Saturday I didn’t finish on time my list for chilled foods. I tried so hard, I think it was 3 or 4 remained. What happen with the items I didn’t pick? Someone will pick the rest left? Help me 😰😰😰
Hey it’s ok you’re fine! And yes, your remaining items will go to someone else to pick. There’s no penalty, Walmart is pretty busy so everyone is understanding. You’re doing great, try not to worry too much.
I make my monthly haul on the Walmart app, it tells me pretty much what aisle each item is in. Keeps me on budget too. Wouldnt do it any other way. Helps a lot when you're on a budget.
Please don't let people take a advantage of you I use to work at Walmart my self I got fired for nothing but they took advantage of me they keep calling out and treating me like gilbert grape and that not right

im thinking about applying here! it will be my first ever job as im still in high school. im SO nervous… im really anti social and awkward so im just hoping this is enough to get me a bit more comfortable with talking to other people, but not so much that it overwhelms me.
Same im a junior honestly I didnt like ogp the first week I didnt talk alot so I moved to meat produce and everyone leaves me alone and do my work if Im doing it right, I worked about like 5 departements atp
1. When u finish bagging do u go straight to another order? 2.do they make you work other positions? 3.if the item isn’t there at all do u just not get it? This video helped a lot I’ll know more during my training ❤❤
1. Yes we go straight to another order unless we have to take a 15 min break or our lunch. 2. Sometimes you’ll run freight or help stock the shelves when it’s slow. 3. Yes, we mark the item as not found and there are people in the department who do exceptions so they will look for the missing item and if they can’t find it they will substitute it for something else. Sometimes too we can substitute items depending on what they are. And I’m happy to hear that this video has helped you! You’ve got this and congratulations on getting the job 💕
I definitely want a PT job like this while in school. I have the H-E-B app and I basically do all of this for myself minus having to scan anything. I applied for a job as a Sam’s Club personal shopper and I’m hoping I get a job offer.
Update? It’s a great job, hopefully you’ve heard back from Sam’s Club! Also, since you’re in school they have to work around your schedule no matter what, and there are also leave options where you’ll still be employed with the company, you’ll just be taking a school break when needed.
I’m 16 and thinking about applying for this position as my first job! I’ve been kind of anxious about the hiring/learning process and you helped to ease my worry. I have a question though, I noticed when you were putting items into the totes you didn’t bag them until the end? Would it not be easier to bag as you go?
Walmart will be a great first job! Go for it. Happy to help in anyway. And at the location that I work at, they want us to bag on the floor instead of inside the department. You can bag at the end or during your pick walk, whichever one works for you. If it’s pretty busy I’ll bag at the end and if it’s slow I’ll bag as I go.
It depends on how fast you accumulate time. If you’re part time, the only time you get is ppto (protected paid time off) and that accumulates very slowly. If you’re full time you will get pto (paid time off) and ppto (protected paid time off) much faster. If you are sick and need time off you can request to go on leave, that way you won’t get any points. Walmart also has bereavement.
I’m currently part time at Walmart and it took me about 6 months to have 8 hours of ppto. Full time employees I’ve noticed go on vacation at the most three times a year.
I start this job soon. The interview process was a joke the only question i was asked was "can you tell me a bit about yourself" 😂 easiest full time postion interview ever.
Do you check for expectation dates? Your service is greatly appreciated by shut ins. You have no idea how much this means to us who cannot go to the store. It’s been two years for me living off my shelves. Needless to say I am hungry and am tired of Ramin noodles because CVS supplied me till now. So I took the leap and joined wal mart.
Yes we do. As much as we can (@ my store, and we're trained on dates), meat sometimes ends up being close, but there's not much we can do about that sometimes
Sorry I’m just now seeing this! I always check the dates and when it comes to picking meat I try to pick the lowest price there is for the customer. I’m not going to lie, some of my coworkers do not check but I make sure that I do. Quality comes first, pickers should not be picking anything expired or something that doesn’t look right for the customer because they know that they wouldn’t do that to themselves so why do it to others?
So I was right in that digital order fulfilment really is exactly the same as my current store's(Not Walmart, but I'm getting literally 10 hours per week)BOPIS! I applied a week ago, but had bad luck today when i went to follow up- local Walmart's hiring manager was out til tomorrow!
Honestly, it is. Especially if you’re stocking with another coworker. Sure you’re in one isle for awhile, but time flies so you won’t even notice it unless you’re really checking the time.
Glad I could help! And yeah with this position you don’t have to constantly worry about being told what to do or where to go, your scanner gives you that information and you have more freedom walking around the store.
Hi, I really like rewatch your videos to help me feel more confident in this job, I have some questions: what “NIL” stands for? I noticed they put a tote inside the fridge with this name NIL. What is “GMD” and how to pick items for GMD
That’s different, I’ve never seen that before! It might mean items that were Nil-picked, so the person who does substitutions might put those items there but then again when they do substitutions they’re supposed to put the item into the correct tote. It might be the tote where customers decline substitutions, so they’ll store the items back into the cooler or freezer for put backs. I believe GMD is “General Made to Order” items. So it might be home items or some sliced meat at the deli a customer ordered that you’ll have to pick up.
Great video! Do they time you when you go out shopping? I know you obviously can't take all day to do one order but do they expect you to have a certain about of items scanned by the end of your shift?
I feel you on the anti-social😂I’m going in for an interview for OGP tmrw hopefully it goes well and do you have a choice? I would much rather be a picker than have to deal with customers outside bringing the groceries to the cars
Congratulations! You’ll like the job, it’s easy and time goes by fast. Everything will be fine tomorrow, just stay positive. And you kinda do have a choice, and you kinda don’t… it really depends on the location you’re working at and the lead for that department. But just tell them where you’re most comfortable and they should work with you on that. But sometimes they will have you help out with dispensing or prepping the orders if it’s really busy. Dispensing isn’t so bad.. and sometimes you’ll find that being out there on the floor is a headache lol. There’s so many Karen’s, Keisha’s and Kevin’s out there that it’s ridiculous and misery loves company but we can’t give them that. Despite the rude customers, there’s also some really sweet people too. But never let anyone get you out of character, that’s what they want. Didn’t mean to type this much but I hope this helps you and please keep me updated on your interview for tomorrow!
@@sleekcurlz No you’re good type as much as you want😂I think I should be okay this won’t be my first job I’ve had several but yeah I really hope they will let me be a picker so I don’t have to deal with as many people(social anxiety)😬, but like you said that’s going to be a part of the job regardless. I feel like shopping for the customers could be relaxing tho especially if we are allowed to listen to our music. I’ve been to Walmart for an interview before for a stocking position that I didn’t end up getting so I have a idea of what the interview will be like but thanks if I remember I’ll lyk how it went.
@@sleekcurlz Update from yesterday interview actually went great I got the job offer email basically as soon as I left. They did say the job can be really stressful hectic and busy which is slightly concerning but I think I should be fine. It pays $14 where I live and i told them I would much rather be a picker but that I can do both or whatever I need to do. Also asked about PTO they said there’s about a 95% success rate with those which is nice to hear. Overall happy with how everything is going right now. They did say the average day of being a picker can be like walking 12 miles which is a lot but shouldn’t be a problem at least I will get some exercise on the job and 2 days off. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this job because it’s hard to find a job much less a decent one where I live💀
Happy to hear that everything went great! I’m also making $14, and they’ll work with you on what you want to do. The job does get really stressful and hectic at times due to a lot of picks and the atmosphere in the store. Often times you will find yourself getting irritated because customers block isles or they won’t move out of the way, they feel entitled and will sometimes walk up to you and make rude comments. Just brush it off and if you feel overwhelmed just move to another area that’s clear in the store and calm down. PTO comes pretty fast too, I work part time and have only been with Walmart for a year but in that year my co-workers have been on vacation at least 3-4 times. And I swear lol, you will have to walk all over the store back and forth and the first day your legs and feet will hurt so wear some shoes with good memory foam. After the first week you’ll get used to it. And you’ll be able to keep the job, just be careful with calling out because of those points. It is a decent job compared to everything else out here. I’m thankful because honestly it’s better than working in fast food and you can be more independent. Thank you for the update, you’ve got this.
@@sleekcurlz For sure yeah I’ve worked fast food and I’ve worked jobs that are really hard on your body I’m hoping it will be in the middle ground of those. And yeah I can already see myself getting irritated when aisles are blocked with a big ass cart I’m wheeling around. When that happens do you just stand there and wait or try to go around or what do you do in that situation? And yeah customers shouldn’t bother me too much I don’t really care what they have to say if they’re being rude I’m there to do my job not to cater to people unless they actually need help. I appreciate the video and the help Fr
1:Do they give you timeframe to complete picking items? 2: is this jop easy or stressfull ? 3: can you do this as a second job? Anyways Very cool vlog thanks for sharing it
Yes, you have 45 minutes to complete your walk otherwise they will kick you out of it and give it to someone else. The job is very easy, however it can be very stressful due to high order volumes and the customers. You can most definitely do this as a second job, Walmart is always looking for part time employees. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the insights of this position! I’m actually having an interview tmrw (wish me luck) as this exact position. Quick question, are you required to have a drivers license for this position? I do not have one atm.
Thank you so much it definitely gave me an idea of what I would be doing and it's so accurate and it helped me out alot. I have a question though on how many picks should you do ofcourse it depends on the amount of items the order has because I do like 1 order with 23-30 items in 1hr and i think it's taking to long and I dont want to get fired
You’re not taking long. If you were, the walk would end and go to the next person. I wouldn’t worry about this, you’re not going to get fired I promise. I’m pretty sure during your walk you were stopped by customers, needed to assist someone, or had to look for an item and that’s okay. You’re doing great so far, keep doing what you’re doing! How do you like the job so far?
For a first time job I really like it but im getting pressured into having a 95% or more in the pick rate and I cant get it above 50 or 60 and Idk what to do
Yeah it’s a great job and try not to mark a lot of items as not found. This will lower your rate. Try to really look for the item, look behind things and even at the very top of the shelf because it might be there. When the shelves are full and stockers run out of space they will put the items at the very top. It’s not about how fast you’re picking, it’s about finding/substituting (if allowed) most of the items but even then they shouldn’t count that against you. How many picks each hour does your store usually have?
@@sleekcurlz I was told to not do any substitutions to just mark it as cant find the item and in every pick walk I do theres atleast 1 or 2 items I cant find. Im not sure how many picks they have, this would be my 3rd week working with an early morning shift so I start at 5 a.m and during that time through 11am theres 200 or 100 picks but some days we barely have 60 but mostly 100 or less and at 12pm it starts to increase a bit and then at 1pm and 2pm we usually have like 150 sometimes 200
@@sleekcurlz I was told that when you mark items as not found it lowers the rate but I was also told that if you scan the wrong item and then scan the correct item the second time it also lowers the rate. I also keep thinking that the pick your doing is secretly timing you so that will also lower it if you exceed the time for example, if your doing an ambient pick of 10 items and you take like 20 minutes when you should take 10minutes to finish the walk I'm guessing it would lower it but idk if it actually times you
Most of my lag time is because the items are not where the tc say the item is located. Havent been working here a month. I find it a stressful job because of that, the customers asking questions snd being timed.
That seems to be an error for Walmart to correct, and if everyone else is having the same issue they need to update the software because all of the locations are supposed to be accurate and up to date. Did they fix it?
Been thinking of switching to Walmart but idk the job, I’m leaning towards personal shopper or the unloading and stocking position, i honestly don’t know yet which is more stressful and which jobs has more freedom than the other meaning more like breaks ig u can say.
Congrats on the interview! You could ask about the pay, and try to negotiate with them. If you experience in picking or customer service already, try negotiating for sure to see if they’ll pay you more than the minimum wage. If you want to be part time, ask if their scheduling is flexible for you and if you want to be full time see if you can create your own schedule that works for you. And I would just ask more about the job, any questions that pop up in your head don’t be afraid to ask a question. Also ask about training as well. I hope this helped you, let me know how it goes!
When you got this position did they make you do cashier or anything related with cash I don’t like handling cashier or money I’m so nervous there going to move me unexpectedly, or is the position specifically focused of just order filling and taking out orders ?
please put your carts back if you work here and your dispensing and put your totes on the dollys if your going to work here its easy all you have to do is come in on time
I was thinking to try to do that. It looks very easy, do you have to time your self how fast you can do the picking? And if I may ask how much is the pay? Thank you for your videos😀
I start orientation tomorrow for this position. What are the hours of day you usually work? I'm trying to get home before dark cuz the Walmart is out of my town 30 minutes and i don't want to hit deer at night
are these carts heavy to push? i worked pickup/personal shopper for kroger, my only gripe about the job was how heavy the carts were to push.. wouldnt provide me accommodations so i quit lol (my legs are deformed so putting pressure on them from pushing hurts more than it does for normal people, + i am severely anemic so that didn't make it any nicer). these ones you use look a lot smaller, and i've also seen the exact cart in the walmarts near me (the ones at my kroger i used were the big heavy blue ones, not the smaller new ones that look like the one in this video). i really loved doing pickup, all my regulars were super nice even if i hated doing the carside part lols.
@@kaylyn5840 I feel so much better i was very slow for the past 3 weeks lol but now i got the hang of it and im no longer nervous and enjoy working however they keep giving me afternoons which are the busiest yet they put everyone in the morning when its dead I miss those mornings lol and for the past 2 weeks they have started cutting my hours so thats annoying so im going to see if they keep doing that or im going to find a better job also there is some favoritism that i have been noticing
It was supposed to have my orientation yesterday Monday at 10:00am and 3 hours from my orientation time I got a text message from hiring manager that my orientation will be rescheduled and they will just message on when again my next orientation. I was disappointed coz i was looking forward to it! Why they do that?
Do you do it one at a time? Or do you do alot of things at once? Or is that going to be to complicated to remember what goes in correct tote? Starting Tommorow
there’s so many people and i keep bumping into them because the carts are so big and i’m short so i can’t see where i’m going and the customers are always so rude abt it 😖! any tips to avoid this issue?
i started doing pick walks by myself last week only been doing it by myself for like 5 days im averaging about 70-90 for my pick rate tips on how to get it higher?
Try not to nil pick so much, marking items as not found. You’re not timed to pick so if there isn’t an item on the shelf that you’re looking for, try looking at the very top and at the very back and if it’s still not there you’ll have to go check the back of the store for the item. But it’s ok, if the item isn’t there and it’s really busy with a lot of picks, just mark it as not found and management should understand. The people who do substitutions should find the items or replace it with something similar and this shouldn’t affect your rate.
@sleekcurlz okay i didn't realize marking items as not found messed with your pick rate. I think my walmart does it different cause we dont have to go to the back to look for the item if its not on the shelf we hit item not found and it goes into exceptions and there's a couple specific people who look for all of those items i will definitely try to look harder for the items to get my pick rate up

Thank you so much! I start tomorrow and I’m so nervous and this did help my anxiety
I’ve been working at Walmart for 2 years, and this was very interesting to learn even though I don’t work that position
I make my monthly haul on the Walmart app, it tells me pretty much what aisle each item is in. Keeps me on budget too. Wouldnt do it any other way. Helps a lot when you're on a budget.
Yes, I love the Walmart app! Makes everything so much easier. I love when technology is used for a positive necessity and helps us save time.

Thankyou I start soon!! This helped me so much I was stressing
Start tmr, thanks for the helpful tips, first job!
God this helped so much thanks. I start very soon, all the other videos I've see were somewhat helpful but confusing. This one helped alot! I

I have the H-E-B app and I basically do all of this for myself minus having to scan anything. I applied for a job as a Sam’s Club personal shopper and I’m hoping I get a job offer.
Goodluck if you haven’t found one so far 🕺

@@sleekcurlz Thank you for answering that. I was also gonna ask how much time they allowed you off? Or how many times you could take off per year?
It depends on how fast you accumulate time. If you’re part time, the only time you get is ppto (protected paid time off) and that accumulates very slowly. If you’re full time you will get pto (paid time off) and ppto (protected paid time off) much faster. If you are sick and need time off you can request to go on leave, that way you won’t get any points. Walmart also has bereavement.
I’m currently part time at Walmart and it took me about 6 months to have 8 hours of ppto. Full time employees I’ve noticed go on vacation at the most three times a year.
@@sleekcurlz Thanks for answering my questions! ❤️

Crazy I start my first shift as a Digital Personal Shopper tomorrow and I came across this vid😂
I’m glad you came across my video, it was a sign lol. I hope this helped you. How’s it going so far?
Brilliant work, take care of yourself🎉
Thanks, you too.
I start work tomorrow so this really helped! Tysm🙏

Former Instacart runner: starting OGP tomorrow, and this is less stressful.
Great video! Do they time you when you go out shopping? I know you obviously can't take all day to do one order but do they expect you to have a certain about of items scanned by the end of your shift?
Hello, I have a question about how you filled out to do well in the evaluation? Don't you think you can help me with that? give me any advice?
I appreciate the video and the help Fr
your voice is very beautiful and calming lol

Thanks for the video! ❤
@@sleekcurlz if that is per order it's not difficult, but helping customers find what they need while you are busy is terrible

Quick question, are you required to have a drivers license for this position? I do not have one atm.
No problem, glad I could help. Good luck, you’ve got this! And no, you are not required to have a driver’s license.
I also keep thinking that the pick your doing is secretly timing you so that will also lower it if you exceed the time for example, if your doing an ambient pick of 10 items and you take like 20 minutes when you should take 10minutes to finish the walk I'm guessing it would lower it but idk if it actually times you
Thank you for the video❤️❤️❤️, how do i know if the opening is flex schedule? Where i pick days and hours to work? Thanks
I start tomorrow! Thank you ❤
Thank you so very, very much!
It's a little better. Some products are still one section off than what the tc shows. Still hanging in there though. Thanks for asking.
Been thinking of switching to Walmart but idk the job, I’m leaning towards personal shopper or the unloading and stocking position, i honestly don’t know yet which is more stressful and which jobs has more freedom than the other meaning more like breaks ig u can say.
I will have an interview for this position this week. Could you give me some common questions for the interview? Thank you so much
Congrats on the interview!
They won't make you do that especially since most of the checkouts are self checkouts.
please put your carts back if you work here and your dispensing and put your totes on the dollys if your going to work here its easy all you have to do is come in on time

Some orders may have lots of items the customer orders and you would have to put them in multiple totes.

Look around to ur left or right
i started doing pick walks by myself last week only been doing it by myself for like 5 days im averaging about 70-90 for my pick rate tips on how to get it higher?
