- Nintendo appears to have a The Legend of Zelda game planned for holiday 2024 on Nintendo Switch accord to this latest codename leak. This may be the next installment in the 2D Zelda series and we could see the rumors confirmed in the upcoming June 2024 Nintendo Direct. Let's talk more about what is going on!

The more Zelda the better. Remake, remaster, or port. I want it all.
I just want them to remaster Ocarina, Majoras, Twilight and let Link STAY left handed or best of it, able to choose left or right dominant hand. Its a traditional, unique adpect of Link and an HONOR to Shigeru Miyamoto which writes/ draws eith his left. Yes more work if mirroring with details being mirrored but theres ZERO excuses with Switch controllers and the games not based on right dominant Wii controller, to net let us have a lefty Link. Theres clearly no issue back with Ocarina and Majoras even the 2d games having right handers adapt to control a left handed Link

I feel like Dev's should be picking random silly codenames for their games that have nothing to do with anything so people can't pick up on patterns and such. I'd be like okay team, we are making an action adventure game, the codename shall be.....HubbaBubba and then we got a puzzle game, it's codename will be LickitySplit.
The film industry does it too.
Hyrule Warriors:
The Imprisoning War
Zelda will be playable as the main character. It's gonna start with Zelda traveling to the past and meeting Raru and Sonia.
But would that acctuly sell more then say windwaker or twilight princess? I honestly don't know any Zelda fans in person who get hyped for Hyrule warriors. But hey if it's a new Hyrule warriors game then my money is going to the 2nd hand market to finally pick up twilight princess HD instead of any switch game haha.
That'd be boring and could only last an hour or so we already know fully what happens and there's not even any battles she was in except ganondorfs and we know how that ends. Would be a shameless cash grab if they were gonna do that and not any totk dlc or even a switch port of ALBW

Does anyone remember the 2D engine that was built as part of the Breath of the Wild development process? Would they release something like that which incorporates multiplayer ala Triforce Heroes?

I've been saying this for the longest we're desperately in need for a new 2D zelda game. There hasn't been one for ages now, so possibly getting one this year makes the most sense.
Same here, I’d way rather have a new original 2d entry than a remake. There is still so much potential for the 2d series. Metroid got one, Mario got one, it’s Zelda’s turn.

I genuinely cannot believe that these guys are missing that the reason that Links Awakening Remake was Codenamed "Richard" probably because of the character Richard that made a cameo from the game from Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru.
It would be weird to remake Spirit Tracks without Phantom Hourglass. Maybe a combo remake?
Skyward Sword had a Zelda story that was never told but I would be a fan of remakes of older titles
although skyward sword is one of my faves they only recently released the hd version for switch in 2021. i don't even think it's popular enough atp to get an actual remake in the next decade.

The best game would be to play the Original one backwards. Zelda has all her hearts, 8 TriForce pieces, and all the weapons. Pick the dungeons in any order, fight in, hide a TriForce shard and bait the Boss with one of your heart pieces. Gameplay gets harder because you're intentionally getting weaker!

Looks like your going to continue to be sick I’m pretty sure you know but at the end of a Nintendo console it’s all remakes but I feel your pain I don’t mind remakes but the remakes recently haven’t been of any interest to me the last Nintendo game I bought/played was tears of the kingdom so as usual my switch is just gathering dust along with my PS5
A new 2D Zelda with the proper traditional formula would be great. A sequel to A Link Between Worlds would be cool.
Nintendo already confirmed that they're done with traditional Zelda. So, if they're giving us a new 2D Zelda, it's gonna be something new and fresh for 2D Zelda, like BotW was for 3D Zelda in 2017.

I want a new 2D Zelda game too. However, this rumor is false. Nintendo has made it clear that Open World Zelda is the only future for Zelda games going forward.

@@pacosalvs13 We'll see. If get one, cool. If not, then the wait continues. I'm not gonna get my hopes up for something that may or may not happen. The chances there are is that it's another remake since the last one sold way more than any brand new 2D Zelda release ever, even it's own earlier releases. And if we are getting a remake, the possibilities are the original Zelda, Zelda 2, or A Link to the Past. Oracle games would be too difficult, not mention that they're already on Switch. FSA would only work if it's for Switch 2, assuming that system has a second screen option. Minish Cap is also already on Switch. And the DS Zelda games are still too recent to remake from the ground up, plus have the same/similar issues as FSA, but the second screen is more highly required in that regard.
That said, the most realistic scenario is that the original Zelda gets a modern take due to how open that game already was. And how popular and much appreciated it is now. A remake of the original would sell even more than the LA remake. That notion alone is enough to convince anyone that the original Zelda is the most likely candidate for the next remake. Especially given the potential of what they could do with such a remake to make it even better than the original and surpass any or even all expectations. Also, it'd be the first big step towards making the first modern open world 2D Zelda a reality. LA remake could've easily been the first true small step due to ALBW being a failure. So a remake of the original is probably the only way we're ever gonna see hope of brand new 2D Zelda games ever making a comeback. Much like Samus Returns was for 2D Metroid. I don't see them repeating the same mistakes they made with the DS Zelda titles and ALBW ever again.
Funny Enough The trademarks on the TESS for ages and seasons had new trademarks registered recently also, I found those when I saw X & Y and Ruby and Sapphire also had brand new trademarks filled in the last 6 months.
Whenever I see the ouroboros from TOTK, I get fooled and think back to the ouroboros from Xenoblade Chronices 3 lol.
Hmm... what about a series of "Zelda: Hero of..." collections, starting with the "Hero of time" collection containing OOT and MM. Then a "Hero of Winds" collection with WW, PH and ST. Then maybe "Hero of the downfall" or something, with ALTTP, ALBW, Awakening DX, and the Oracle games. A "Hero of Light" collection would be somewhat... "light" on content, with TP and a remaster of Link's Crossbow training. Maybe they could throw in Minish Cap and the Four Swords Adventure games just to complete it. This could pad out the next few years with Zelda content.

I hope this project will be the 3rd installment of the Oracle games, Seed Of Courage was considered as the 3rd and final installment of GBC Oracle series however due to the inner conflict or low sales it got cancelled.
After the success of Link's Awakening Remake, i think Nintendo team looks back at the GBC game they haven't finish so they choose this game.
I think that if its a remake of some Zelda in 2D it could come out for the Original Switch, if its a totally new Zelda, it would be for the successor and this year it would be Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD

So what I learn every other day a video like this comes out is “there’s no confirmed news of new Zelda games and I’m wasting my time watching these videos that don’t share anything new.” Got it
I bet it will be the Oracle game remakes despite PapaGenos telling us not to hold our breaths because I found some evidence on Grezzo’s official website regarding a new “medieval” project in the form of a recruitment project a while back. The link on the official site is no longer there now but it does point in the direction of a possible future Zelda game. At this point it can be anything, we don’t know but personally I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Oracle of Seasons/Ages getting remade furthermore leaker Newmarkomaro has said a number of times that they are in the works as well

On that Codename list it showed “OZ” for Twilight Princess. Didn’t someone say they saw a leak for Zelda with the code looking like “OZ”
Yeah Midori said the codename for the BOTW remaster was U-King-O (The O standing for Oz, which is the switch2's codename)

Wasn't the codename for Nintendo's next console confirmed to be NX2? (There was a leak of technical support board for game developers, where we could see consoles option as Wii U, 3ds, Switch and NX2)
@@Noctosphere It probably was for a time or something, Ive just been following what Midori has said tbh. For all we know it could have two just bc that's something nintendo would do to confuse us. I just know that Oz is also in reference to the new console, NX2 is either another codename or just a nickname since the switch was NX.

I’ve been predicting Hyrule Warriors 3 this whole time I’ll stick with it. It makes sense too. Zelda back, then would be the main character for that war of the whatever it is.

@hist150project5 You're right, I would. I just mean in terms of remakes/remasters. Everybody's talking about Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, or an OoT/MM bundle, and I just think those are the most boring options. I get that they're great games, but most people have already played them anyway.
I agree. It's either this or a brand-new 2D Zelda altogether. An ALTTP remake would feel redundant after ALBW, which utilized the same overworld and all.

@hist150project5 That's true, but Twilight Princess and Wind Waker were both accessible on the GameCube, Wii, and WiiU, so it's not like they've been innexcecable over the years in the same way that games like TTYD have.
As for the Oracle games, it's not that I feel like they're inexcessable, it's that I want them to be modernized. They're much older than WW and TP, so they're much more in need of remakes.
Very far fetched but a Sheik game would be awesome. We dont really see how Zelda comes up with this role/disguise. It'll be nice to play through that story. It's also a clever way to bring back the oot map, fully remastered. Not sure how the story would end though since we'd reunite with Link 7 years later only to be captured by Ganondorf lol. An alternate timeline would do the trick. Fallen hero and Sheik has to finish the job? Lol
A Zelda/Sheik spinoff game would be completely out-of-field unless if we're getting a full-on OoT remake to accompany it.

i was so disappointed with how badly they slept on Zeldas 25th anniversary. i watched Marios 25th being so annoying over hyped just for them to release like a clock for Zelda and one remake. so upsetting lol
a playable Zelda in the period between BotW and TotK would be cool. since she is in the end of one game and beginning of the other. doing that time period in 2D (or isometric-ish like plasticene remake Links Awakening) might be cool too.
Oh I forgot how good Link's Awakening Remake looks - so crispy and toy-like, I'm counting on a new Zelda game in this style❤

@peterc504 I like a link to the past and this. This is a remake of the game right after a link to the past. If you want darker zeldas then just go play the darker ones. Even the darkest zeldas are pretty light hearted.

Years ago, there were rumours about a Phantom Hourglass remake.. My FAVE Zelda game... I know this is more of a long shot than the other possibilities, but... I lost my cat named Link a year ago... If they remake my FAVE Zelda game in the style of Wind Waker.... That would make my year as it's been a bad one so far.

It's way too early for a ground up remake of that game, even if it's 1:1. More likely that we'd get an enhanced HD port or graphical remaster of that game instead.
I want a Zelda game to come out. However the cost of living is so high here in Canada that buying game is honestly a hard justification so make. That said as a gane staring Zelda or a spin off could be exciting; it personally won't sell me. The more I here of the leaks; the more I am headed towards the 3nd hand market to buy Twilight princess HD hahaha

Well... the Zelda game looks a little inspired by Wand of Gamelon, BotW and Newest Links awakening graphics. Like Wand of Gamelon, Zelda is the character we follow. I wanted a game where Zelda had a chance to shine for quite while, that wasn't the terrible cd game

I feel like these speculative videos involve a lot of talking, but don't really say a whole lot.
We're getting a Zelda entry. It might be new, but could be a remake. A remake of a mainline entry, but maybe a spinoff. Someone said it could be the Oracle games, but someone else said it isn't, and it might be a 2D game because of a code name. No guarantees though, it could be the complete opposite of that...maybe a remake of BotW, or a new sequel to the last 2 Zelda games.
Basically, what I mean is 'time will tell'.
We need the oracle games remade!
