    30% of India's population is urban, not 70% :)

I believe the figure we got comes out to be overestimated because we took urban population to be 70% rather than 30%

Why did he include Display Laptops for consideration why he had already clarified that we are only talking about 'Sold laptops'?

Laptop is generally used by students, working professionals and Business Persons. We can't directly link it to the population.

Firstly, Urban/Rural percentage is 30% and 70% respectively in India.
Secondly, in 22:00, for what has he taken a 20% estimate in Upper class?

Laptop bags would be another good commodity to compare with our estimated figure.

Why would you multiply households with number of employed at each income level ? Doesn't it increase the total population?

Another thing to consider is that many people by electronic items when from other countries such as UAE, US, Asian Markets, because of price and worldwide warranty. This should somehow be taken into account to calculate the exact no.

Asper the given problem statement it doesn't matter from where the Laptop's are purchased. It says that "No:of Laptops are in use (In India)" Thanks..

For business use maybe we could use a government job vs non government job approach assuming that all government employees have desktops at their office and not laptops

A typical interview lasts for 30-45 mins. No interviewer would want to spend 25 mins on a single Guesstimate problem.

@CaseInterviewCraked - I have another approach and happy to know if this is making sense or not. I divided the Indian population to educated/uneducated (ppl who don't have the education to run the laptop - are more likely they have not accessed it and are BPL, or had limited education on computers) - this split was 60% (educated) 40% (uneducated).
Then I go by age segmentation of this 60% (assuming 60 as life expectancy and that the age is equally divided) - ppl in the age of 1-10 are not using laptop - in the age of 11 to 20 (20% may have their own laptop as few may use parents laptop or have computers at home, or may use computers in school/colleges etc), then we have the working class in the age of 20- 50% (which can further be segmented in - working professionals, own business owners and unemployed), and last segment 50+ is old age (only 20% may have own laptop - rest may share or be mobile dependant)
When we come to working class split ( those who are working professional - get a laptop from their company + few may have their own personal laptop on an avg 1.5 laptop per person here, own business holders - may or may not use laptop but for shop billing, personal record etc. we can assume 30% use laptops), unemployed folks are less likely to have the capacity to pay but10% may have their own laptop. Summing this all up - we may get the laptops in India

Makes things way too complex. I don't think one laptop is a norm even in a middle class household anymore.
It's either a desktop for everyone. Or of it's laptop it's quite personal (for their own use).
Rarely do i see people sharing laptops. Which is easily seen in case of desktop

    70% ubran kaise?

  • @karandang5457
    @karandang5457 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Firstly 70% population in Urban India and 30% BPL in Urban population. Wow what an assumption. I think both of them don't the full form of BPL.

U can do but it will be too difficult as we don't know the proper number of suppliers of the laptop ...and these suppliers are also classified into the online and offline sector which will add one more section and it will be difficult to guess
