As I said in my previous comment, Muzaffarabad is a very diverse city with main culture is Pahari but being a part of Kashmir valley the old city has pure valley culture and main language spoken in old city is kausher, it has influences from Hazara and Punjab also. People are simple and life style is also very simple. Literacy rate is very high and city has a huge number of professionals working abroad. The chappal kabab guy you met is the second generation in business. As far food if you are invited to some ones house , you fill find the best food. I would recommend Kashmiri Tandoori Baqarkhani you should try with tea in break fast. Go to pir chinasi for a more panoramic view of the city and surroundings, it’s beyond explanation. Finally have a peaceful and happy stay in Muzaffarabad. You are aware that it was completely destroyed in 2005 earthquake. It has risen from Ashes, May almighty keep everyone safe.
Ignorance need not to be answered but just a little addition in your limited knowledge that diversity is not limited to religion, I know it’s not gonna open the locked minds, cheers nonetheless 😊

@ Suddhans in poonch district ( now duddunhoti) are pathans by race but they have been there for more than 300 years. There is no big collection of Pathans but you have pockets find in every big city and even the Afghans settled there. Most of the construction and scrap business is done by Pathans. Usually Kashmiris are very tolerant and friendly with every ethnicity. The “ myth” of Kashmiri pundits kicked out of Kashmir is exaggerated in Bollywood style history and Godi propeganda.

Hey Karl, Walaikumassalam. Yes Muslims bury in cemeteries just like Christians/Jews.
But not exactly like Christian traditions. [Edit: Most/Many] Muslims don't use coffin, it's more like bare body wrapped in simple cloth. And most Muslims don't use large gravestones; more like a brick sized thing to indicate location of grave.
