Karl this is a very emotional video for me. As my grandfather and my family is from a small town called Kotli, District Mirpur, Kashmir (Pakistan). My grandfather migrated to New Delhi in 1947 after the partition. My great-grandparents, grandfather's first wife and his sister were left behind and were killed in riots (Mirpur Massacre) on 25th November 1947. He and his brother had to start thier lives from scratch with no livelihood and family. My grandfather passed away 7 years ago at the age of 93. He wanted to visit his native village one last time, but you know. It's not possible. Throughout his life, he use to call out "bauji" and "Biji' while sleeping. That trauma of losing his parents haunted him forever. He also suffered from dementia but that trauma was always there. I wish to visit my ancestral village someday, but I know it's not possible for Indian citizens. We still have our Kashmiri culture deep rooted inside us here in New Delhi. Lots of love to you and your family. Hope you have an amazing time in Kashmir.
That's really sad. Can't even imagine the pain of losing your parents in such a way, your grandfather was a brave man. I hope he's finally reunited with everyone that he lost up there in heaven.
It makes me sad reading this , it was all one country first , how and were it went wrong we will never know. There's good and bad people in both countries , hopefully we will be able to respect each others countries and learn to live in peace and harmony. Let's see..Kashmir decided that it was going to be independent, but they got attacked by Pakistan in 47. Kashmir's king sought India's help and decided to be a part of India in return for defending him. UN resolution called for election after Pakistan withdrew from occupied territory, but Pakistan never did. So now Pakistan sends insurgents for last 40 years to cause terror in Indian Kashmir and when Indian authorities try to stamp out terror, the local kashmiri leaders that are on Pakistan payroll scream oppression. In the meantime, the real oppression is that of Kashmiri hindus that have been massacred and chased out of their home. I find Pakistanis extremely disingenuous when talking about Azad and Occupied Kashmir. My advice is that borders will not be redrawn as India is nuclear power. Pakistan should concentrate on peace in the region and focus on development instead of wasting money on armed forces and selling rest of the country to China. China will extract their pound of flesh.

It was his ancestors who colonized south Asia and what is now called New Zealand. It were those colonizers who left a botched partition of their colonies and left a mess for us. Why would they allow such a diverse part of the world left as one entity, an empire of a former colony? Why don't Gujarati or Marathas have their own state? Didn't they have one when Brits came? We, per Durrani empire would automatically have all Muslim majority areas... Kashmir, Afghanistan and Pakistan... if Gujarati are free of a mental obstacle of a state called India, they'd automatically rid themselves of imperial designs and desires.

you can draw conclusion from your visit of Azad Kashmir that whether its occupied or the other way. you haven´t seen any army personnels or conveys on roads. Azad Kashmir has its own police consisting of local kashmiri people to control law and order.

@@sunishabali3450 no only a few people do, most of us in Pakistani Kashmir, hazara division (kpk), peshawar, kohat (kpk),murree a few regions kf (punjab) etc speak pahari/hindko/potohari with minor differences between the three dialects. Rest only a few amount of people speak kashmiri(koshur language) in muzaffarabad and neelum valley. We are all pahari people or hindkowaans or hazaar e wals, people confuse as punjabi people in kashmir, which is a very discriminating stance against us, we might have a historical link with punjab i think so, as the languages are so similar. But we have our own distinct identity

Let's see..Kashmir decided that it was going to be independent, but they got attacked by Pakistan in 47. Kashmir's king sought India's help and decided to be a part of India in return for defending him. UN resolution called for election after Pakistan withdrew from occupied territory, but Pakistan never did. So now Pakistan sends insurgents for last 40 years to cause terror in Indian Kashmir and when Indian authorities try to stamp out terror, the local kashmiri leaders that are on Pakistan payroll scream oppression. In the meantime, the real oppression is that of Kashmiri hindus that have been massacred and chased out of their home. I find Pakistanis extremely disingenuous when talking about Azad and Occupied Kashmir. My advice is that borders will not be redrawn as India is nuclear power. Pakistan should concentrate on peace in the region and focus on development instead of wasting money on armed forces and selling rest of the country to China. China will extract their pound of flesh.

It was his ancestors who colonized south Asia and what is now called New Zealand. It were those colonizers who left a botched partition of their colonies and left a mess for us. Why would they allow such a diverse part of the world left as one entity, an empire of a former colony? Why don't Gujarati or Marathas have their own state? Didn't they have one when Brits came? We, per Durrani empire would automatically have all Muslim majority areas... Kashmir, Afghanistan and Pakistan... if Gujarati are free of a mental obstacle of a state called India, they'd automatically rid themselves of imperial designs and desires.

you can draw conclusion from your visit of Azad Kashmir that whether its occupied or the other way. you haven´t seen any army personnels or conveys on roads. Azad Kashmir has its own police consisting of local kashmiri people to control law and order.
Not want to start some mud slinging, but think for a moment why there is no violence at the other side. No infiltration from this side, no ied blasts. The violence started in the 90s you can watch the old hindi movies beautifully covering the kashmir without the present day nuisances.

@@sunishabali3450 no only a few people do, most of us in Pakistani Kashmir, hazara division (kpk), peshawar, kohat (kpk),murree a few regions kf (punjab) etc speak pahari/hindko/potohari with minor differences between the three dialects. Rest only a few amount of people speak kashmiri(koshur language) in muzaffarabad and neelum valley. We are all pahari people or hindkowaans or hazaar e wals, people confuse as punjabi people in kashmir, which is a very discriminating stance against us, we might have a historical link with punjab i think so, as the languages are so similar. But we have our own distinct identity
