Living 6 months maximum for tax reasons in Thailand. 5 months in Chiang Mai 1 month in Pattaya. Burning season I go to Vietnam. Last Year I was in Da Lat. This time I will visit Da Nang. I like your channel and your honesty. Much appreciate.
I like in the mountains of North Carolina. Spend 2+ months in Chiang Mai. The burning season is the reason I leave but it's not great weather in NC when I get back in January. Thinking of checking out Phu Quoc for a month or so. Been there?
@@ralphburggraaff4081 you know it’s only 11% more in tax after the 186 days out of Australia but yeah I get it if you making 100k it adds up 😂 I know that for sure , Covid was a good time if you followed the rules that 186 days didn’t apply.
The whole reason i watch your videos is because you are in the 'niche' that i will find myself in. I worked hard my whole life and saved. I am not a rich guy, but i will have enough money that i am not really interested in living on $1000/mo like all these other videos preach. I want to live a comfortable life which i think i can do better in Thailand. The $3k-$5k/mo range is more what i am interested in and, your right, i haven't found any others that cater to that demographic. I will watch your stuff as long as your putting it out. Thank you!
Nah, please don’t quit. I find your realistic perspective refreshing, informative and also useful. Don’t apologize for your chosen lifestyle that you earned through your hard work. A life changing event allows a different perspective. Why wait if you don’t have to? Nothing to apologize for.✌️😎
Hi Ramze , I love your videos and the last part of this one made me laugh because you are so right - Those guys should get a life. However, look at the other side of the coin, those bad guys make TH-cam pay you money, so just sit back and smile. On a different note, an idea for you = Make a play list . Number your videos so they will be easier to find for re-watch in a later day. Good luck.
It's interesting, my wife and I are in a similar position to yourself, we spent 6 weeks in Thailand a couple of years ago and are considering coming back to se Asia for a few months, your content is very interesting and exactly what we are looking for 👍. We didn't actually goto Pattaya to avoid all the tourist bits, now I regret it a bit after watching you 😁
I like this format! And, have you ever thought that people that take the time to write bad comments are just bored and depressed? Maybe they are just jealous 😂
I honestly find your channel refreshing. You couldn’t swing a cat without hitting a monger YT in Pattaya or a Hotel reviewer or Restaurant menu show. Basically not just Pattaya most of Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam, same for Columbia. I will say the Mexico YT do more daily life stuff. My favorite YT are doing it the way you are doing it just from their living room or office talking about what it’s really like to live wherever they are and what it takes to live there. Of course everyone wants to know about prices and of course that could be different for everyone. I might rent a house for 1k someone else rents one for $250-300$. It dosent really matter but the background information tends to get lost. The actual lease agreement what to look for to protect yourself. It’s not just about the cost of things but the details of that cost. Cars, transportation, health care Holly shit I have an emergency and I need to get out of here but you have a rented place and a bunch of crap. Maybe a pet that shit gets real quick
I knew a guy who lost it all and ended up in jail, like you within 5 years of getting out had got himself set with a bunch of properties, new family too. It is doable, it's all about mindset.
I enjoy observing human interactions, particularly in places like Pattaya. It's fascinating to witness relationships where age and cultural differences are stark, such as an 70 y/o foreign man with a much younger 20 y/o local woman. Often, these dynamics seem driven by the older individual's nostalgia for youth, while the younger partner might be motivated by financial necessity to help their family.
I turned 42 yesterday and have a 19 year old Filipina I met while I was over there for 6 weeks. What you said is definitely part of it. She’s just so excited for life, and always wants to do things. We ended up almost every day waking up at 7am, hopping on the bike by 8:30 and being out exploring til it got dark. She’s a province girl too so seeing her get almost upset that I wanted to getStarbucks for her because it’s “so expensive” was almost comical in a genuine way to me. She had never had it before. FF to the next day and she has pics and a video of us eating and having Starbucks and all her friends comment just made my heart full. Also the male enjoyment we get by being a woman’s first, (not that, but yeah obviously that even tho I’m confident I wasn’t her first at that) but showing her new places, taking her for things like Starbucks that she never had, going new places, etc. that is a big thing that makes me personally happy with her. Meeting her parents and seeing how she grew up opened my mind up a lot. No money or anything like that being sent, she wouldn’t take it even if I offered. She’s proud, and also saved me a bunch of money on stuff while there. Her family lives very basic, and they never brought up any money or anything either. Just happy their daughter is happy. Different cultures for sure man.
This whole trope of 70 yr old men with 20 yr old women is tiresome. You definitely see it among some tourists in central Pattaya but, in general, for long term expats it’s pretty rare. Are there age gap relationships? Sure there are, 10-20 years is pretty common. My Thai wife is 26 years younger. She was 35 when I met her. But the 70/20 thing is just put out there for shock value. It’s not normal even in Thailand. There is nothing to speculate about.
@@martypolldefinitely see it a lot more in the Philippines. Much older expat group over there for Americans. I was very young over there. Much creepier guys there too in some of the places. Went to Angeles for a few and man, the guys there are the worst type for 75% of them. It’s mostly Koreans there but the white Americans are the fat, gross, creepy, old old dudes. So if you’re under like 45 and go you will have them all fawning over you 😂 couldn’t take that city for long. Would have left after day 2 if I didn’t pre pay the room already.
Humans don't live that long. The difference between 70 and 20 is not even a blip in time. So why bother about it? Bogart 45, Bacall 19, when they first met. They had a great marriage.
Great video!!!! Your story is similar to mine, there is no substitute for hard work and living below your means, saving for a future goal, I am 64, I retired at age 49, by planning, sticking to my goals, no inheritance, no lottery, and I would never invest in Bitcoin. We are going to sell our home here in Canada next spring, interest rates are going down, so housing prices are starting to go up (lower mortgage rates), we will have over 2 million, all invested in a conservative portfolio making easily 5%, plus Canada pensions are coming next year. Nobody can come from North America and live on $1,000 USD a month in Thailand, when my wife and I are in Thailand we spend $2500 USD not including travelling to nearby countries.
Your vids are great, don't let other get to you, to the point you stop your channel. BTW you hit Hua Hin right on. I don't know when you were here but there are many more bar areas not then a few years ago. Stay Safe Be Happy.
Well done. Thanks for posting and doing what you do. I like the info that you throw in on Columbia. When you were there, did you get a chance to travel around to other countries in Latin America? I am very interested in retiring to Columbia, El Salvador, or Paraguay.

You said it. The freedom to walk away from something you find toxic is the ultimate freedom. You don't need to put up with the trolls on TH-cam. I only discovered your channel today - you hit the niche perfect for me and I watched a whole bunch. But goodness me you don't owe me or anyone else here so if you decide its not fun anymore and you quit all I have to say is thank you dor the videos you did make. Now if you stick with it, its entirely possible that soon you're making 5-10 grand a month from it and that covers all your running expenses. Do you need it? From the look of things, you don't, so it's your choice. Maybe you buy a fishing boat instead and take tourists out to see the dolphins. You find something.
Just wanted to say I enjoy your work. I found out about you through Sammy's channel. You are definitely a better man than me. All those negative comments would send me mad. And like you so nicely put it. Those losers who don't know Sweet F A about you or your wife have the nerve to speak to you in such a negative way. It just blows my mind. Cheers!
Excellent, you're catching on about living in CM areas , and just traveling during burning season, which is my hopeful plans. Maybe even a month or so in Hua Hin, etc.
Enjoyed this video the best of all you’ve made. Felt almost like a TikTok stream. Every 30 seconds it was a new subject. Kinda cool. I noticed you don’t have ads, is that on purpose? At this point I’m sure you qualify. Happy you don’t have them but just something I realized
Ohla ! Everything OK ? I like watch your video some more some less, but I like them . First advise when you move to Thailand , don't listen too negative people , there are a lot of them here . I'm 66 , and now my Thai wife and I stay here for 15 years ( Cha Am ) . I am so tired of people that stay here for 1 year , 6 months and know everything , and almost everything is negative. Advice , walk away . Don't listen . Keep on and have a good day . Rickard , 😂
I appreciate your vids… I also had apprehensions on doing a channel for the exact reasons you state…I’m curious, is there a setting that you have to allow each comment before they are made public or is that taboo? TIA
You can have TH-cam filter aggressively and it does help but it does not catch everything. Plus you can add any words you want that will automatically block a comment.
The less censoring, the better. Why not just ignore them -- a real thick skin -- and support free speech? We don't all have to think alike. Personally, I would never delete any comment unless it used vulgar language, violated copyright, or "communicated a threat" which is a crime in the USA. TH-cam gets this wrong and deletes perfectly innocuous and benign "opinions" (just to fit an ideology). I cancelled Premium because of that, and now watch R more and yt less. If any CHANNEL deletes my comment, even once, I unsubscribe and never watch it again. Period.
Constructive criticism is fine and should be expected but any haters that attack you, your family, etc. just delete the message and block them. It's not really that complicated. Remember you have a lot more people that appreciate your videos than the small number of idiots out there. Don't let them get to you.
Support free speech. You don't have to "like" what other people think or say. Nothing should ever be "deleted" unless it uses vulgar language, violates copyright, or communicates a threat (which is illegal).
I'll be sad if you stop, but i understand. Maybe ill see you around in chiang mai. I wonder if it would be worth getting a moderator to deal with some of the trash. I think south Thailand is still pretty nice during burning season if you wanted to kinda be a snowbird down there. Or i guess "firebird", ha. 🐦🔥
Hi Ramze, I'm just wondering how you can be/sound so well educated and articulated? Have you studied psychology? 🙂 I would be interested to know more of your background. Your videos are amazing and what it makes it so interesting is that, the things you say, it makes sense. Cheers.
Thank you for the very kind words. I completed an MBA while in the casino business and never did anything corporate with it. I have just lived an interesting life in many countries and languages and I think that is the best education. I pride my self on having the right amount of fear and lack of fear 🤣
Lol, ya live in a glass house, expect rocks... After getting trapped in Thailand during COVID, I was easily able to get out of holiday mode... which is what you think it is... After setting up a household... Figured on about a $3k/month usd budget... In reality, I struggle to reach $2k... and expect to fall below that as I cut back on bars, and eating out everyday/night... Right now, starting to plan a budget for Vietnam 2-3 months/year... Should be interesting...
Not saying this is you, but some Yt'ers define negative as being comments different to what they believe. The problem everywhere these days is people want to live in an echo chamber. People have lost the ability to reflect on views different to their own.
I totally get that. One of the things I most appreciate is being educated in the comments. I certainly don’t have all the answers. Just don’t lead with “I didn’t even click on your video because your title is stupid and you’re an idiot” 😂
@RamzeTravels l understand what you mean. And l 100% agree with you that Hua Hin is "little pattaya" or "Pattaya lite". It's a watered down version that is more palatable, which is why l like it there. And the best way to live in Thailand is to be able to travel internationally during the periods you don't like, which is different for different people.
I’ve been to Thailand a handful of times but Chang Mi wasn’t on my list. One of my friends has lived there for 15 years. He told me the smoke has always been there but it’s definitely gotten worse in that timeframe. I asked him specifically about transportation he told me it’s more challenging to get around on public transportation than it is in BKK or Pattaya. He uses his scooter and small motorbike for his transportation. So I imagine choosing the location is pretty high on the list.
Yeah public transport isn’t as robust but I drive everywhere myself usually or take a ride share when I go for a drink. I would live just out of town anyways since I want a home and not apartments. If they ever find a solution to the burning season, it would be unstoppable for tourists and expats. Probably not going to happen in my lifetime.
@@RamzeTravels the latest weather should be a hint to also consider proper elevation. Sucks to have Everything washed away. I actually thought about you and your villa(vs condo with views, above 8th floor (no mosquito)), when hearing about all the flooding up north. CM is pretty flat itself with a river running through it.
like your style and videos very much. would like to see info on what a single person who had money in bank and maybe 3-4000$ income would face aging out in thailand in regards to assisted living nursing homes. finding help with controlling money if needed help. wills death notifications when needed. visa considerations. with no family is it possible? thks
He's covered it in an earlier video about how expats have zero security. There is assisted living and even care homes for expats although I can't speak to their quality. The legal stuff you ask about,, especially having someone handle your money if you are unable to - I would be very very cautious. I know Thailand well, have been going there for decades and let me assure you Thais look at you and just see $$ signs. That is all. The nice ones will overcharge you so nicely you won't mind, the nasty ones will scam you without remorse.
Did you watch his video, a couple back , concerning downfalls of retirement there? But yes, at least it's doable for you. Same situations I've been researching myself.
Keep it up. I like your videos. I have never left comment on how someone's video or they just suck. I have offered some criticism on sound quality or features that might make the videos better. Sounds like you need to start a cupcake biz. Just don't know how you would like being known a cupcake man.
I enjoy you videos and what you have to say. I am looking at moving to Thailand in 2026 with a modest $2700NZD (54000 baht) monthly pension. Not sure what area at this stage, but coming for 6 weeks in January 2025. Was thinking Hua Jon, but may go up into Isaan as well.
@@RamzeTravels I will probably make a further 2 trips before October 2026, but this also depends on if I meet the right person and where she lives as well.
I enjoy your videos, first and foremost but I can never find the “link in the video” I guess I’m just TH-cam illiterate. Second.. what is the best way to get to Pattaya from the airport? (Moving in May) Third we’re is this email I keep hearing about.. refer to illiterate. Keep up the videos.
In the channel description. Google Nams Lady Drivers. They pick you up at the airport and take you to Pattaya for 1100 baht. That’s who I have always used.
What's the plan for the pups in Chiang Mai? They're more sensitive to the poor air quality than humans are. Will they travel with you or stay behind with someone? I would need someone with an American dog mom sense of urgency and anxiety to stay with my dogs if I went on vacation. I would want my dogs brought to the vet immediately if they sneeze 😂!!
Have burning season year round where Im at. Burn to cook food in the morning. Burn debris in fields as need be. Burning season and also backyard pits producing charcoal. Thats the worse. Have mutiple air purifiers running in the house.
Divorced living in Vegas working hard to call it quits. Did the rental property business the Wuhan ended that dream. That’s ok I’m not far from living the dream. I didn’t get anything I didn’t work hard for. I’m not moving to any country outside of America without being able to afford the living at the price point I want. Let’s just say that’s not below 3k
Unfortunately the world seems full of bitter nasty people who have no life and get satisfaction from being simply nasty. And unfortunately they seem to be breeding on TH-cam. I for one enjoy your videos as its a fresh perspective on Thailand.....not just bargirls and how to live on 100 baht a day😁. Anyway keep up the good content and as best as you can ignore the trolls......but i completely understand how upsetting it must be when people sink so low as to comment on your wife!!! Like you said..... comment on you or your content but leave your private life alone. Anyway whether you keep doing TH-cam or not is of course up to you.... it's your retirement 😁👍
Look at the current state of affairs(politics)in the USA and for the average joe this is totally normal behaviour which is accepted and even encouraged!! It then becomes much easier to understand that you will come across total nutters more often than not!!! - Good Luck with your channel 👍🙏
Thankfully, for those of us to live here, we no longer have to look back at the state of affairs, particularly politics in the USA. If you live here and are still worried about all of that garbage, you haven’t lived here long enough to let it go.

I'm 66 , and now my Thai wife and I stay here for 15 years ( Cha Am ) . I am so tired of people that stay here for 1 year , 6 months and know everything , and almost everything is negative. Advice , walk away . Don't listen . Keep on and have a good day . Rickard , 😂
Good video. Keep them coming. 53 retired here and same position as you buddy
Best of luck!
Ramze 😎ON point
I appreciate your vids… I also had apprehensions on doing a channel for the exact reasons you state…I’m curious, is there a setting that you have to allow each comment before they are made public or is that taboo? TIA
You can have TH-cam filter aggressively and it does help but it does not catch everything. Plus you can add any words you want that will automatically block a comment.
@@RamzeTravels thanks !! I hope your channel skyrockets ..
Period.
Great job with your videos. Ignore the naysayers, we appreciate your content!
I appreciate that!
Constructive criticism is fine and should be expected but any haters that attack you, your family, etc. just delete the message and block them. It's not really that complicated.
Remember you have a lot more people that appreciate your videos than the small number of idiots out there. Don't let them get to you.
Thank you 🙏
Support free speech. You don't have to "like" what other people think or say. Nothing should ever be "deleted" unless it uses vulgar language, violates copyright, or communicates a threat (which is illegal).
😂 lived in Peru for 2 years too funny 😂 great little niche market in YT about Thailand 🇹🇭
I would be interested to know more of your background.
Ignore the naysayers. You found your niche.
@@RamzeTravels I have asthma so chang mi is out.
So I'm doing life wrong I guess. Worked more than 5 years and I don't seem to be retired yet. Many such cases.
I worked since I was 12. Just finally had some things click in the last 5. I certainly wouldn’t make the claim I retired after 5 years of work. 😁
@@RamzeTravels I feel a bit better now. 😂
does sick buffalo equal sick relative?
I think it is just a play on a joke where they need money and want an excuse. Could be a legit sick family member or maybe they just want a new phone.
like your style and videos very much. would like to see info on what a single person who had money in bank and maybe 3-4000$ income would face aging out in thailand in regards to assisted living nursing homes. finding help with controlling money if needed help. wills death
notifications when needed. visa considerations. with no family is it possible?
I can tell by the way you write that you should not go there.
Hua (hooah) hin (hin)
Keep it up. I like your videos. I have never left comment on how someone's video or they just suck. I have offered some criticism on sound quality or features that might make the videos better. Sounds like you need to start a cupcake biz. Just don't know how you would like being known a cupcake man.
😂
I enjoy you videos and what you have to say. I am looking at moving to Thailand in 2026 with a modest $2700NZD (54000 baht) monthly pension. Not sure what area at this stage, but coming for 6 weeks in January 2025. Was thinking Hua Jon, but may go up into Isaan as well.
Spend as much time here as you can and you’ll find the right area for you. It’s impossible to know without being on the ground.
@@RamzeTravels thank you sir
What's the plan for the pups in Chiang Mai? They're more sensitive to the poor air quality than humans are. Will they travel with you or stay behind with someone? I would need someone with an American dog mom sense of urgency and anxiety to stay with my dogs if I went on vacation. I would want my dogs brought to the vet immediately if they sneeze 😂!!
We have a live in housekeeper that is basically just for them.
You sound like you understand what you are doing and I hope you get there sooner than later! Best of luck! 🤞
Haha! Good approach - Fortunately I'm far away too - Let's hope the ramifications don't end up having world wide consequences 🙏
Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberry. However, I do like your channel and content. Cheers!!
