We Are all glad you are back! I agree with you about Pattaya, you don’t have to visit walking street. Pattaya has a variety of options to do if you want. Keep up the good work with excellent videos and your views about living in Thailand. 😊

I live in Jomtien & enjoy my daily morning beach walks here, feels like a World away from Central Pattaya and being a 15 minute motorbike taxi ride to Central makes it the best of both World's, there is much more to Pattaya than Central Pattaya.

It’s incredible. Many of your thoughts are really very close to what I think and feel. I can't really go into it here, but I find your very sensitive, nuanced perspective fantastic. Not arrogant, not aggressive at all, very relaxed, and creatively thought through. You come across as absolutely likable, and in terms of thinking, you're not so far removed from a European person from Berlin. I’ve worked for decades in a really tough but well-paid job, saving and investing along the way… very soon, I’ll be able to live that kind of life. A truly wonderful adventure is waiting for me. I’ll be retiring soon, and I feel like a child, full of joy. I will spend half of the year in Pattaya… it’s going to be wonderful.I’m surprised. Keep up the great work. Best regards.

As a married man who doesn't drink, all the nightlife and etc. was not something I needed or sought when I came to Pattaya. With the beach and all the close shopping areas, Central Pattaya has remained the ideal place to live in. It's pretty noisy at night but that's really the only negative for us.

Been to Pattaya twice on a visit and always liked it but I never stayed, nor hang out much in seedy parts of central Pattaya. Jomtien is calm, relatively cheap option and that was my choice. Decent beach, lots of food options but without the craziness of Walking street and around.
I love BKK but it's a bit too hectic to live in permanently, Hua Hin I found a bit boring and Chiang Mai whilst awesome has many unpleasant months as you mentioned.
Pattaya is simply perfectly located, with good weather, good transport links, affordable. I am too young to retire but honestly I wouldn't mind one day.

Spot on, Sir! Pattaya has something for everyone. If you are stuck in Pattaya, or don`t like it there, you just have never fully explored it. I have lived in Pattaya for 2 decades, never go to bars, but still have everything I could ever want near by. All kinds of sports, the food in the area is from all parts of the world, you have zoos, water parks, markets, and everything anyone can imagine and want. I love the Mabprachan Lake area, Jomtien is awesome, and longer south you have beautiful Ban Amphur and Bang Saray. Naklua, north Pattaya, also have it`s beautiful and quiet places. Wongamat area is one of the most popular areas for expats who want to live quiet and close to the beach, but still near the action Pattaya has to offer. There are islands to visit with crystal clear water too.
I see there are people in this comment section who say they would never go to, or live in Pattaya, I bet they have never actually been here, or at least never been anywhere else than in central Pattaya. They have no idea what Pattaya has to offer. To fully know Pattaya, and have a valid opinion, you need to explore it. Families are thriving here, because of the variation of the place.

I'm looking to retire to Thailand in about 5 years. Will be going to Pattaya in a couple months to look at condos and to see if it really is a place I could live. When I started researching places in Thailand, I had no idea the reputation Pattaya had -- in fact I had not heard of it at all. I am looking at some of the other places as well. Chiang Mai was a great option, but now after the flooding and the smoky season they have, it has dropped on my list. What you are doing sounds like what I will do. Live in Pattaya, avoid the central area (unless I feel like partaking at some point, but likely not) then travelling to all these other beautiful areas. I was born and raised in New Orleans. I occasionally went into the French quarter, but for the most part just avoided it. I feel like Pattaya would be about the same situation. The proximity to Bangkok and the beaches are quite a draw for me which makes me feel like Jomtien might be the focus of my search. Anyway, good topic. Maybe be seeing you there in a few years!

Growing up in south Louisiana, your comparison of Pattaya to New Orleans is a good one. So much great stuff to do in New Orleans that is away from the quarter. That being said, the crazy part of Pattaya is much bigger and crazier than that of New Orleans, albeit much safer. But Pattaya has much more than the seedier parts as well. And it’s also a place where it’s easy to get many of the comforts from the west that you may still desire (restaurants, shopping, etc.). Good luck with your eventual move!

Actually Ramze, Pattaya and Vegas have a bit in common! I came here in 1999 for work and I became friends with a guy from Vegas who had a publishing business there. He said then and was 1000% correct that Pattaya would grow bigger and faster than Vegas. This is Thailand's 2nd biggest city and should get 26+ million tourists This year which is more than many surrounding countries, so yes to accommodate and support that business there's an abundance of everything for every budget and taste. I can't wait to see what the place looks like after the high speed train gets to bkk in 55 Mins in 2028. I think 1/2 of bkk will sell up and move here! Owch traffic hell I guess better enjoy the lifestyle now whilst we can eh? 😮🎉

    • @Ozjockey111
      @Ozjockey111 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@neilyounan3241 Oh yes Vegas does have flies and raw sewage but only around the homeless camps which apparently are exceeding 8,000 people now but NO that wasn't the comparison I mentioned. It was the opinion of my friend who started a small publishing business in Vegas in the 1940s and so he'd seen the scrappy town with loads of drifters and maybe less than elegant individuals develop from that into what it is today. I have only visited my friend's family there 6 times over the years THIS century and WoW its an amazing place but mine is not a fair view because my friend and his business ended up being a very significant entity in Vegas and his family still are, so I didn't see Vegas from where it started whereas my friend did, and he personally knew many of the famous and infamous of the City back in its formative days. I have seen Pattaya from its reasonably bare bones beginnings in the 1990s when 3rd road still was a dirt road and even I didn't imagine it would continue to boom as it has. etc. But I'll never forget my now departed fiend's sage words... It matters not if the place is famous for the sexier, perhaps sleazier side of things... just that it's famous for something! The money still adds up and the businesses and infrastructure around that prosper.
So yes it was that comparison from my friend who'd seen and experienced both and had businesses in both places... I'd reckon he'd know.

Things like word turning, which is very meditative, can only be done by Thais, even if no money is involved.

      3. ACH from home bank to Thai bank.

Well, i don't really agree with your story of the origine of Pattaya.
It is well known that thai people have nothing agains sexual fun if it is discreet so i think that the potential was already there.
Sure, the war and the troups, the handsome men and the quick buks maybe centralized and spead up things but i think that thailand would have taken this route anyway.
If you not agree, you have to explain why practically in every city in thailand with 5k people up have a red light district even if it is not a tourist place.
Or why all around thailand you can find love hotels and places with women even next to an highway with out a city.
I have a view very easy questions to ask:
    1) why even go live in thailand if you isolate yourself from thai people and
    2) why stay near the "tentations if you not plan of using them.
    3) I wonder what are those positives/ negatives that outweight the one placa above the other because i can not really think of many apart maybe having more chance to speak english outside of your home in pattaya and a negative is probably that it's more expensive in Pattaya.
Will Pattaya change in the future? Pattaya is evolving all the time and i am sure it will continue to change in the future. I would not be so sure that the tentations will not arrive in front of your home and actually there are already bars with girls around the lake. I will not make names but they are already there. Apart that, you have places like up on the hill where it is already looking like central Pattaya just with the difference that they are behind closed door. You see it more taking the road from there down to the rail tracks. So i think it is just a matter of time before the Darkside will explode as the new Pattaya because central pattaya is becoming a big mess and too expencive. Another little thing that probably people never considered, the adventurer in central pattaya was almost forced to stay in that region until a view years back because of the bath buses and the expensive taxis. That is (example) why Soi Arunatai or soi Bongkot that have bars/clubs, never really took of. Now you have bolt and the internet that allow everybody to find quickly new places and with bolt to reach them quickly and cheap.
Even if i not live in thailand, last time i was there, i sure spend half of my time on the darkside having fun with girls there and already planning to expande my knowledge up to the lake ( that is why i know that those places are already there :p ).
About the stigma, well, I think that many europen have lost interest / think it is not worth to go to thailand for fun anymore so it is slowly falling under the radar. Many times when i talk about thailand, people make jokes that i go have sex with ladyboys and not the sex tourist or even worse the pedophile. The stigma is mostly intact in thailand but i usually shut them up exactly with the same question i asked before "what it matters if i go pattaya or not when i can find prostitution in any corner of thailand without even exiting my room because of the freelancer online?".
Anyway, you are right about the part about "healthy" lifestyle. Unless you are Jeff Besos, you can not keep up financially and probably physically/mentally the parties like in your holiday.
I am lucky that i live very beautiful women and I am an hunter that isn't scared of talking with "normal" women outside of the redlight districts so I need to slow down and put on my best manners even when i am in holiday :)
