I would upgrade if Microsoft did not have such a dumb requirement for Windows 11.
Windows 11 requirements are purposely made to make more capable PCs end up as E-waste.

I think you can use Rufus to write windows to an empty sd card to install to your pc, make sure you select bypass tpm requirement and possibly not to require online registration. The risk will be with major updates, whether any might detect old hardware and stop the system functioning, but that's just a guess with a worst case scenario

Windows 11 is a dog. After promising that Windows 10 was the last version, MS tried to convince users to buy new hardware to upgrade to.....the same OS with a minor graphical update. They didn't anticipate that users were smart enough to reject this ploy. Now MS is stuck constantly updating a "new" OS hovering at only 26% of the Windows marketshare while constantly fearmongering to Windows 10 users, who make up 70% of their userbase. 10 year old hardware can run Windows 11 just fine, yet MS wants you to increase e-waste and throw out your old PC. MS still thinks they're the only kid on the block with an OS. Times have changed. We don't need MS.

Yeah, 2016 i have bought a i7 6700K that isn't supported on Win 11, even if my Mainboard does software based TPM 2.0 i can't install it. It runs perfectly for Media, Office, and with a RTX 3060 it would even run a lot of modern games more than sufficient. The best thing would be if environmental groups or the EU would realize the impact of this topic and the amount of waste Microsoft will create and start to pressure Microsoft. We talk about millions of computers becoming waste, even if their performance is still more than enough.
It would be laughable if Microsoft will be allowed to block million intact PCs from WIN 11, while smartphone manufacturers have to implement USB-C because three different cables are too much, even when most of those cables won't survive much longer than 5 year anyway.

Honestly, if you're computer is older than 6 years old and running Windows 10 - chances are your hardware is fine running Windows 10 indefinitely with its current hardware and software setup so unless you're downloading from 'dodgy' websites, there's nothing to do and just continue using Windows 10 until you decide to upgrade to a Windows 11 laptop/PC so don't stress. Microsoft shot itself in the face when it decided that many computers would not be able to upgrade. Many people have not 'upgraded' to Win11 because they can't. With the only option to buy new computers, many are just not going to upgrade at all. I have Win11 on one computer and I hate the damn thing. Every time those idiots release a new version of Win we have to re-learn half of what we already know and that is a huge pain in the butt!

Windows XP was bloated, insecure garbage and put the word rootkit in common everyday vocabulary. It was the last version of Windows I used before switching to Linux, and it was absolutely full of flaws and poor design all around. It could have been better, or at least less bloated, if Microsoft didn't take all the extra garbage they put in ME and shove it in XP. IMO Win98/98SE were probably the best versions of Windows, because they didn't have all that garbage installed, and were reasonably "stable" (if you could even use that word) for being in the Win9x line.

Even though Windows can be a pain in the ear, as a computer Engineer, I have pulled an extensive set of tools that come from various Open Source sources that are extremely effective so that even with the fact that Win10 support is going away it's not that big of a deal especially if you consider to do a hardware firewall over a software firewall also if you set your system32 folder to read only that will help tremendously. Linux Distros are fine and Win 10 has Linux built right in... But you have to enable it yourself. Also Knoppix is still a good "start anything live" platform. You can consider also to plugging an external drive into your system and storing your data to that and unmounting / unplugging the drive after you're done for the day. There's many ways to keep your stuff to yourself

The big problem with Windows 11 workarounds is that they may only work for a short period of time. Microsoft could release a Windows 11 update at any time that can stop support on an unsupported Windows 10 PC. If you really want to stay supported, you will be forced to purchase a new PC if your Windows 10 PC does not meet Windows 11 minimum requirements. Or, download the zero patch Windows Update scanner, if you still want or need to use Windows 10. If you still want to keep Windows 10, and your machine does not meet Windows 11 requirements, downloading Zero Patch is your best option.

Some of the reasons being MS insistence on pushing ADS to users with OS updates and the bricking of some 3rd party software like VPN services. The sheer arrogance of MS to push users to update, from an OS people have paid for, and move on is staggering.
