I know how professional installers hate predictive maps but this is I believe because these maps can’t take into account very local obstacles to your house or van such as buildings , temporary factors or large leafy trees . As it happens with the Mendip Transmitter above , there’s places in the SW of the New Forest & Bournemouth/Poole district which are using this mast & have done for many years so in spite of those places not being even within the Yellow areas let alone Green areas of the map ,it’s always worth trying the more distant ones if the local ones aren’t much good for some reason. As they say though , unusual weather ( in the Troposphere not the usual daily stuff we see ) will give false readings such as a great picture which could fade away a week later !

I use Google Earth a lot and this is useful information. Was wondering if a compass bearing could somehow be found once you've got the red line in place, for use with an aerial in the loft for example.

Hello, really great guide! I have Crystal Palace aerial as my nearest Freeview aerial. I can't see on the website the bit about the Horizontal or Vertical info. Maybe the website has changed. Thanks Aaron
