Great video. What bracket is that? I'm installing a 5g antenna on the side of my house and it looked perfect, pretty sturdy, and could hold a decent weight.

Greetings from Los Angeles! I've got it much easier, all the major broadcast television channels come from one mountain top so easy to align an antenna and get a good signal as long as no big buildings or heavily tree'd area in the way. I noticed the antenna right away, interesting that you only have UHF signals as the broadcasters here in the USA use both UHF and VHF bands, and the channels have been changing bands ('repacking') due to expanding use of hi-UHF for cell phone and 5G wireless transmission. Any areas where the broadcast signal comes from different directions so a dual antenna system is needed? Anyway, interesting to see this from another country. Cheers!

As far as I can tell, DVB-T (used in the UK) uses only UHF bands, while ATSC (used in the US) uses both VHF and UHF bands.

Many years ago I bought and mounted the best aerial I could buy from a high street electronics chain that has since closed its doors.
I looked at the direction in which the roof aerials were pointing and matched it as best I could in the loft.
I had good signal on all channels so I was well chuffed.
A few months back we had a seized ball float in our F&E tank so got a plumber in. He promptly smacked his head on the aerial (plenty space to go around it) and now a lot of channels break up, even more if the weather is bad.
For the life of me I can't seem to realign it adequately.
What do you think? Damaged aerial?
If not, what can I buy to help me realign it or are there any phone apps you can suggest?
    Thanks.

It is probably more down to the fact that it was only just getting enough signal (in basic terms) in the first place. As in you were lucky to be getting it in the first place. Especially using a high street store tv aerial from years ago and not aligned professionally. The knock it got from the plumber was the straw that broke the camels back maybe?
I don’t know if any apps that will do this properly, as you physically need to see your signal levels with a meter attached to the aerial, it’s not just a case of pointing it in the right direction, you need to see your noise levels and Bit Error Rate and other things. No app will give you these figures, only a spectrum analyser can do that. Sorry I can’t be of more positive help mate, it’s just what I believe is true.

I really enjoy your videos, try to do some more regularly, once a week maybe?

Thanks Christopher, I will try, i want to do more but most days im speeding around trying to get as much done as I can as im so busy, it does make a job much longer making a video. A lot of my work is the same stuff too so I don’t want to post me doing the same thing all the time. I may just take the camera out on a busy day videoing short bits of multiple jobs? Thoughts?

Does the amp have a band pass filter to prevent out of band signals causing the amp to overload and cause problems with IP’s or saturation.

    • @aardvarkinstalls
      @aardvarkinstalls  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, it is designed to only work with frequencies between 470-694 MHz, so basically only the DTV UHF frequencies. Things like 5G and 4G won’t affect this amp 99% of the time, but in most cases I fit it to an aerial that also has the same rejection qualities just to make sure. I hope this answers your question?

Would you have a link to where I can purchase that exact splitter as I need one for 6 TV sockets, thanks

      Hi
I’m sorry mate I don’t. My channel isn’t monetised yet, and I can’t put a link to where I get them from as it’s a trade only supplier. They aren’t exclusive though, I’m sure you could find one? Where abouts in the country are you?
