    Also a TH-cam or a Netflix video is an on demand video, meaning each user can start watching at any time. So that is exclusive session created per user. So it becomes a multicast. Where's a TV stream is a broadcast where everyone is viewing the same frame.

    Great theory... how they have solar panels that last longer than any other and batteries that never need replacing and fuel for the thruster that never runs out is amazing.

    • @leviholdale6413
      @leviholdale6413 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Commercial satellites generally last between 5-15 years and have enough fuel on board to last that long. They're also equipped with solar panels of high efficiency, usually around 30-34% compared to the 15-20% efficiency most ground solar panels absorb. So they do run out fuel. When they do, it can no longer be kept aligned to Earth and eventually fall out of orbit and gets burned up.

      @@leviholdale6413what about the batteries? Do they can last for upto 10-15 years?

    Excellent video. Still, I would like to make a small correction: the main reason that allows using a smaller dish antenna is the use of a higher operating frequency and not exactly the power involved in the transmission. The higher the operating frequency, the shorter the wavelength. Therefore, a smaller antenna can be used while maintaining directivity.

    • @z_emed
      @z_emed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have forgotten another more important detail, how far away should the supposed "satellite" be, how much transmission power is needed and the maximum bandwidth?
      I don't think a satellite is in the middle of this triangle, instead I think a lot of terrestrial repeaters are used, and terrestrial TV dishes pick up signals that are bounced back into the atmosphere.
      With the amount of television channels that there are in the world, I have never heard of a satellite failing or a satellite being repaired, or a television satellite going down.

    An excellent video, but i must say it needs a minor (but important) correction. There is no centrifugal force, just centripetal force and it is the equivalent resultant of the system. The gravitational force is a force that is part of this system and contributes (eventually along with other forces) to achieve the resultant of the system (the centripetal force). That`s an application of Newton`s Second Law.

    1. How does satellite recognise the customer's dish in spite of one way communication?
    2. How access to only certain channels is given to the customer based on subscription?
    3. When we stop paying the subscription, access to channel gets disconnected. When we pay, it starts again. How does this work?

    A delay on satellite can be delayed between 5 to 15 secounds in Europe. It is also how the signal is transmitted. Example CNN International is delayed 25 secounds at 1 degree west. And on Astra 28 degree east it is delayed about 18 secounds.

    3:00 I have a little experience working in the field, and a way to compensate for Ku rain fade/attenuation is through the installation of an Uplink Power Control. Basically, the device constantly measures the satellite beacon level (receive path). They do this because when it rains, the beacon level drops so thus, the signal drops as well. When the beacon level drops too low, the UPC removes attenuation from the Ku transmit path, resulting in the amplifiers transmitting the signal with more power to get through the rain. Compensation. Many newer satellites have ALC, or automatic level control, where the satellite compensates, so a UPC isn’t necessary. It’s pretty interesting stuff.

    • @gianluca.g
      @gianluca.g 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The video is slightly misleading. In reality the satellite emits waves as a cone that "lits" a specific region of the earth, pretty much like a very directional lamp would do on a table. At earth surface, the waves can be approximated as a plane moving torwards the ground (given the huge distance) so the receiving dishes have to be aligned perpendicular to that plane
