- This is not a video to watch if you want to install a new loft aerial, it's part of a series of vlogs. Look for another video before complaining.
Well, I put this job off for long enough, so today's the day to finally replace the old TV aerial and amplifier with some shiny new ones.
Is this a video about covid or putting up a ariel???? At this point I don't care about covid...or your life just get on with the ariel...omg
It’s a VLOG. Read the title of the video. I happened to be putting up a new TV aerial while chatting to the viewers who enjoy my vlogs.
I never saw an aerial installed on the inside of a house...only on rooftops ! Interesting ! Nice and neat wiring job ! Strong work !
i live in a appartment the system they have is a joke got my own areial high gain one put it up in the attic working great so far any way
I was in the loft recently, fitting a new high gain tv aerial and new signal amplifier. This increased the signal strength considerably. But I made an interesting discovery - by leaving the old aerial right next to the new one, pointing in the same direction, but NOT CONNECTED to the new one in any way, the signal strength is increased considerbly more. It seems that the old aerial picks up some signal, amplifies it, and retransmits it in such a way that the new aerial picks up the signal coming through the air from the old aerial. I've removed the coax cable from the old aerial, as it isn't required. None of the websites I've visited regarding combining tv aerial signals mention this trick!
Hi Roger, your vids are very interesting please keep them coming 👍🏻😊
That gold F PLUG item is a coupler to join 2 F standard plugs together.
I’m watching this in 2024 Rog and I’m not mad about it.
Do aerials need to be grounded from lighting strikes ?
Grounding the pole the aerial is attached to is a good idea, especially if you live in an area that has frequent storms.
Im flooring a loft and customer wants rid of thrir aerial in her loft. Can i just cut it and blank it? Im in scotland
Hit a strange issue at my mum's, she's never had HD channels but Freeview website says otherwise, I tried Auto tune, nothing HD wise,so my question is do you think it's my mother's roof antenna and not being powerful enough? Or is it a case of the Freeview HD channels not available in area? Thanks in advance
If you haven’t got a signal booster I would suggest fitting one as that can improve the number of channels you receive.
Maybe you need a HD tuner. Everyone can get the main channels in HD.
Why do you put the antennas in the loft? We have them outside up on the roof.
Because on U.K. houses it’s difficult to get on the roofs to the chimney if the house has one so it’s far easier to install in the attic
@Louis Williams £120 for a company to put one up and don’t need meter to check you just follow the other houses in the street so easy todo in the attic and with a booster there is no difference that on the roof and I know because iv done both in the past and would never risk climbing on a roof when I can save myself a lot of money and time and fit in the attic
Attic fitting can work just fine ... IF
1. Signal strength is generally high enough (few if any obstructions to transmitter).
Receiving a signal through a roof can reduce strength by anything from 3dB (50% reduction) to over 8dB (84% reduction), especially with the difference in roofing materials, tile, slate, METAL(!!), and also, of course, if Kingspan insulation type (aluminium coated foam) is present.
2. Angle to transmitter is not close to angle of a roof corner/brick gable end (this significantly increases loss c.f. straight through the roof.
3. NO Solar PV panels on the roof! These act in the same way as a Faraday cage!!
4. You use a distribution amp to achieve multi-room connections
If ANY or ALL the above are NOT true you will likely suffer loss, probably large. Remember, digital transmission, just like digital audio, is either fine or rubbish and unlike analogue there is little to zero warning ... Signal is either sufficient or NOTHING!
Bottom line is wherever possible mount the antenna:
1. Outside
2. As high as possible/legally allowed
3. To cater for earth curvature - typically pointing slightly downward in the direction of the transmitter, but maximum AT the direction of the horizon.
I've seen "professional" installers spend too much time aligning for "horizontal" and after the direction is set, never readjust horizontal alignment, which in fact can gain or lose +1 or +2dB!
If in doubt ... Mount it out!
The Good Life is just wonderful!
when you went to aldi did you see that they have henry and hetty deluxe cleaning trolleys as i went to aldi about a week ago and they had them in there so i bought one of each. they are £20 each
Does your TV have an HD tuner in it
I tuned in to watch a video about loft aerial. Oh well.
I've changed the title for you and others who may stumble on this vlog thinking they will learn how to fit a loft aerial. If I can do it without watching a video tutorial, then I'm sure most people can.
@@RogersBitsDoings I was more interested in finding out if loft aerials are any good rather than how to fit one. Oh well.
Well this one works, it depends if you live in an area with a strong signal.
Hi can you send me a link of eBay where you sell hoovers
Pls
@@katepoyser3052 if you go to the community page on the ibaisaics channel there's a link to E Bay of hoovers that was for sale
@@Charming_Em tank you I have seen it aready
You are , free , free , free , concerning what??
I'm sorry I have to turn off couldn't watch it all you was waffling on too much about everything else and not the aerial
Did you read the video title? It’s a vlog, not a how to video. I’m sure there are many TH-cam videos showing how to do this simple DIY job that even a bald, fat homosexual can accomplish.
Way way way to much yapping, covid, biology, cars, and switch off
It’s a vlog for my viewers who enjoy my yapping. The clue is in the title.
To much talk about bloody covid? Get on with video
This is a vlog post, not an instructional video. The clue is in the title.
