Jay, I wrote you a letter when I was a child. It was when your mother passed away. You wrote me back and I’ll never forget it. You’re a good man J and I’m glad to see that you’re doing OK. God bless!
I met Mr. Leno at a car show when I was 17 (1994). I had just begun building my first Mustang. He talked with me for probably 20 minutes, he gave me some wisdom concerning my rebuild (basically talked me out of doing what a lot 17 year olds would do😂). 3 years later I was in a car show in Rhode Island with the finished car. Mr. Leno was there and he remembered talking with me previously and congratulated me on the build. Even made some comments about my previous plans. I was blown away that he remembered the car. He is a real person, nothing fake about him. Just genuine.
If I could have anything in that garage, it would be Jay Leno’s work ethic. He kept doing his weekend sets after getting half his face burned off, then got thrown off his bike couple months ago and he’s already back in the garage (with a still fractured collar bone) making videos for us. I wish you all the best Jay and can’t even put in words how incredibly much I admire you!
“Had I been an older man, this could have been a serious accident. “ 😅 Thank goodness you’re relatively okay, Jay! Better luck in the future, and good luck with your projects.
God bless you Mr Leno, you have entertained the masses for a half of a century, and for being 72 you are in damn good shape. Stay safe we need more good Americans now more then ever 🇺🇲🙏
I have always been extremely impressed with Jay Leno as it pertains to his "cars & shop".... He ALWAYS gives recognition to the people who are actually doing the work on these vehicles. It is awesome to see someone with his status in life (famous & wealthy), give 100% credit to his workers!! Because he is a great guy!
It's easy to forget how old he is. I know I will be truly hurt when he passes. I've been watching him my entire life. My step-dad and him watched him instead of Letterman just because he was a car guy. If I could take a trip anywhere in the world it would be to his garage. I think I would need a whole week to be truly satisfied .
It's good to know that Jay doesn't hold a grudge against the White Steam Engine that blew up in his face, and he is restoring it. Again. Way to go Mr. Leno.
and the people still interested in working and learning with those hands, like the ones he featured in todays video!

Most car guys tend to think that the craft is dying and that nobody will ever be able to hand build components ever again. This is bullocks, there will always be passionate people able to learn it. It is the machine built components that we have to worry about, once the machine no longer exists it may become very hard indeed to reproduce the part.
It's so great to see Jay rebounding from two major accidents. Slightly less than 12 years from now, when I reach my 70th birthday, I hope that I have, even half the drive and energy that Jay has today.
This is exactly why I tell my friends that it's important that they have hobbies for which they have passion; something that gives you a reason to wake up every day.
I knew nothing about Jay on the Tonight Show, never into tv but after a lifetime in the family automotive business i saw him in his garage and was hooked. Then i found out how great a man he is by his relationship with his wife. Its so heart warming to see a man give his wife such respect and credit. The world needs men like Jay, a real human being in a world of fakes. Much love Jay, you have shown others the right way ! 😊
I'm 40 years old. I saw the last of Carson, but grew up on Jay. His respect and self owned responsibility about these treasures is very much respectable.
When one of the craziest cars ever built and driven (Chrysler Turbine) sits in the background under a dust cover and is never mentioned, you realize how broad and deep Jay's collection is.
I thought for a second may be Paul Newman's Volvo, he had a special one built. It's got a turbo V6 out of a Grand National. I just looked Newman's car is black, but it is still around.
Was going to say the same thing. Those accidents would affect anyone, let alone someone Jay's age. He seems pretty flat. Hope he's back to his usual energetic self soon.
Well, Chris, Jay may be feeling his meds in this video. Not that there is nothing wrong with that, it's just what I see. So, not knocking our friend. Jay gotta use up the 'script then get back to being free.
if jay had any other personality than the one he has, i feel he would have given all of this up. the love he has for what he does is quite obvious, especially these days. thank you jay for continuing to be so inspirational for so many of us that love the heck out of machinery.
I enjoy the restoration blogs because I love seeing all of Jay's projects. Some of my older favorites are with Jimmy too, because he's such a funny character and a true craftsman. And great to see you're still in good spirits Jay! Heal up soon and try to take good care of yourself. We all cherish your knowledge of automobiles and want you to be around for as long as possible!
Love the Restoration Blogs! You should do a few episodes just showing one of the team making a new steam valve, or whatever it is. Plenty of us would be interested to see a bit more in-depth rebuilding/ remanufacturing footage.
When I saw him leaning a lot and moving slow I was worried that his recent accidents had dome some permanent damage. Turns out he's still got BROKEN COLLAR BONE and still got up to show us around his shop. Jay is a legend.
Yeah we all get stressed out and sometimes bitter over the things happening in our lives but Jay, unlike the other late night hosts, kept bitterness, cynicism and contempt for those that may have been outside of the Hollywood leftist clique to himself or it was as foreign to him as it is to most of America. His love for the history of the automobile and the pure genius behind those that developed the industry from the ground up is so contagious and his generosity in sharing that love has enriched the lives of so many people. Thanks again Jay!
May I say International treasure! From a very grateful fan in England. I’ll never suffer from depression as long as I can keep watching and listening to you.
The spectrum of vehicles jay enjoys from the steam engine stuff, dusenberg cars, to the performance oriented ariel atom, plus all the bikes he owns. It's inspiring to see you defy age and remain young at heart.
Any other guy I might think he was bragging, but I don't get that from Jay. He loves his passion and wants the world to love it too. And so educational.
The coolest part about cars is the history involved and things that went on during those times … the icing on the cake is owning and driving a old car …. That’s all I want is a daily older truck or car… I was saving money to buy something which took me years to save but then I lost my son in a car accident he was 20 years old … the car or truck I wanted would of eventually went to him … it squashed my dreams
Wishing you a speedy recovery Jay. Your passion and humility are appreciated. So many car collections remain behind locked doors, never to be seen by the public. It's refreshing to watch someone who is passionate about sharing the stories behind not only their own collection but also interesting cars belonging to other people.
Can you imagine being lucky enough to work in Jay Leno's shop? Wow! I bet he treats his employees like family. What a class act he is. Guys like Jimmy, one of his chief mechanics, are a treasure.
I stopped halfway through the video to make my comment. Jay, you are a hero to many of us. We are so appreciative that you make your videos available to us so we can see the vehicles and your efforts in getting them on the road. Like Sam Tilson said in his comment, nothing but love and respect. Mend well and stay safe.
Jay never ceases to amaze me! He gets hurt , brushes it off as if it was a stubbed toe. Jay bounces back better than ever. He gets hurt again due to someone else doing dumb stuff. He is just a GOD in the the gear head world! Jay you are a real mentor!!! Love these up and close vids you guys put out. Fantastic vids.
I stopped riding at 70 following a near fatal car wreck. 53 years was enuff, lol. I'm very glad you were not hurt worse! I LOVE your restoration blogs, Mr Leno.
Jay is having a rough go lately. I appreciate your spirit, Jay - to push through the obvious pain in order to share the art and engineering as well as some of the skilled folks keeping these mechanical wonders in working order so they can be appreciated into the future.
Man Jay just takes his life with a joy, love it! Even the accidents, he just jokes about them...dont know anyone else with such a happy spirit. You are a true treasure and deserve all the best!
I have my Dad's 1967 Cadillac deVille convertible since I was 12 years old. He owned an auto body shop and always had a Cadillac. He was going to junk it when he bought a 1972 Fleetwood Brougham. I told him that I wanted it and I am now 58 years old. The car has over 200,000 miles on it and cosmetically is a beauty. I had the original 429 engine rebuilt last year for a small fortune of $11,000 bucks. The rear main seal is leaking so much that I can't really drive the car . It needs a quart of oil every 100 miles or so. It's just a damned shame that this car is undriveable due to a $30 piece of rubber ! I have contacted a Cadillac restoration shop that I hope will be able to solve my problem. If not, I will have to source another 429 engine and start from scratch again. Glad to see Jay back at work and keeping these old cars running.
Sorry you got hurt Mr. Leno, and here's to a full recovery for you. I turn 72 this month, and I got hurt just before Christmas when a car leaving a parking lot didn't see me riding my bicycle on the sidewalk and ran over me. Yes, like you said, good thing I wasn't an old guy or that could have been serious! My knees got twisted up in the bicycle frame before the car backed off of me, and both knees still hurt, but that's life. I restore old bicycles. They are easy and cheap compared to Duesenberg's!
Jay may wonder why we love him so much. Jay, you've been giving us so much for so many years. These later years of automotive and motorcycle coverage has been my favorite.
Jay without the money and fame would be nine to five Jay with a driveway full of cars and the same quick wit and a smile when you stopped by to hang out.
Wow Jay ... i get so much Joy of your Passion and Your Energy is just something else ... May all the Gods of the Universe Bless You and You Family with Many more years of Life to just Share all those amazing stories of every car of every moment in history ... you are just above and beyond ... I love your humor on the bike crash Jay. I have had three of them in my lifetime, broken a total of 13 bones. I am pinned and screwed together, and I am close to your age but I'm still dumb enough to keep riding, LOL.
Nothing dumb about passion! Enjoy it while you can, life is too short to wither away on the couch trying to prolong it by avoiding all the fun it has to offer! 👍
Jay is the physical manifestation of the spirit of a 9-year old kid in all of us. Watching him, his collection, is a personally relatable experience, doesn't feel like watching someone on the altar looking down at us for not having to achieve what our hearts desire. Seeing him adding another piece to his collection genuinely makes me happy every time.
Jay. You have such talented people working for you. I would love to hear a bio on each one of them. I know many of them have worked with you for years!
Jay you still have your great sense of humor. It's a wonder you didn't turn out to be the headless horseman. Thank you for being such a trooper and continue to share a great show.
What a fabulous Video! The Dusenberg engines, the Killer Motorcycle... There you go, a fantastic script for an action-movie. Perhaps the Grand-Finale: The Bad Guy rides into the sun-set (zillion-dollars in gold bars in the side-car) hits the wire and loses his head. The headless body still on the bike.. Fortunately, you are still here featuring your energy and amazing sense of humour. Thank you Jay and congratulations. A.
Love these restoration blogs! You've got enough content in your garage to keep us old-time viewers entertained, without even having to bring in guest appearances from modern cars. Every vehicle in your garage has unique and interesting stories. It would be amazing just to follow along with each and every one of these projects you have going on.
Really good to see Jay is going to be ok. He really is a national treasure to the hobby, not to mention quite philanthropic to many charities as well. On top of all that, by all accounts he's a nice guy to boot too; it'd be a bucket list thing for me to meet him one day. Love these resto blogs! - Ed on the Ridge
Great to see you, I see you haven't slowed down any since the minor accidents. I don't pay much attention to what some of the news outlets say, when I hear it from you I know it's the truth.
1st I just have to say I'm so pleased you're not dead. Either of those recent accidents could have been much worse. 2nd, these restoration shows are my absolute favorite. Also thanks for coming to St George last year. Your set was amazing. 90 minutes of non stop laughs. I thought was was going to need medication for my side from laughing so hard.
A man of 72! Great way to get me to spit out coffee in a laugh. Jay, your a true American muscle man and I'm so glad your still pounding out the miles. Good health to you!
Beyond the mechanical preservation, Jay's preservation of the history of each car in his collection is remarkable. Keeping the bug owners informed about progress, or going up Mt. Washington with the Stanley's builder I'm sure means/meant the world to their previous owners. He is a role model and national treasure. I hope he is blessed with many more years to enjoy his passion.
What makes all this work is Jay's ability to surround himself with people that share the same passions and drive to do the job better and not settle for mediocrity. Glad to see you're back in the saddle.
I’m 69 and have been riding (licensed) since I was 18. I can fully relate to your comments about riding. Like an old bumper sticker in my garage says, “I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.” Love your channel! Keep the shiny side up!!!
Jay is a legend............he's had a lot of help over the years from many people...........if you go back through the old video's he talks about a bunch of the people/shops and what not that have helped him solve all kinds of problems............he's always adding new people to his shop..........not to mention many new tools to get things done in house............there's just not many people in this world who compare to Jay............
The restoration blogs are the best. Thanks for saving these parts of car history Jay! Also, that Volvo 240 at the end 27:06 looks fantastic. Are we going to see it in the future?
I've got a project that's taken years...... still got to put that picture hook on the wall.. 😀 I really appreciate jay's clips on projects, cars, bikes and people, they are real, inspire me to think about that picture hook... 😉
Good to see Jay back in action after the accident
I agree!
Nothing will get between that chin and his cars lol

The Dusenberg engines, the Killer Motorcycle...
There you go, a fantastic script for an action-movie.
Perhaps the Grand-Finale: The Bad Guy rides into the sun-set (zillion-dollars in gold bars in the side-car) hits the wire and loses his head.
The headless body still on the bike..
Fortunately, you are still here featuring your energy and amazing sense of humour.
Thank you Jay and congratulations.
A.
Way to live your life Mr. Leno and thanks for sharing it with us. Glad you are going to be able to heal.
I just love how he preserves the past he sees the value in something that somebody would just walk over and not even think twice about
He really is a great guy - very real, unlike most celebrities.
@@Reed___ yes so true. He never swears either. He's just a great guy
Love the shop walk throughs
I love restoration videos. Tnx for amazing content Jay
You can’t keep a good man down! I’m so glad you’re back in the garage.
Jay ... Jay ... Jay. Just as classic as his vehicles. History will thank him. I know I do
All my best regards ... and you just keep getting better.
You just HAVE to admire and respect Jay's attitude and responses to the adversity life has been handing him lately! 👍🙂👍
I mean it's a show. But yes hopefully he's doing well in real life too
Jay is doing something ill never get to do- he's living his dream. I appreciate that he lets us experience ot with him.
He really is a national treasure to the hobby,
not to mention quite philanthropic to many charities as well.
On top of all that, by all accounts he's a nice guy to boot too; it'd be a bucket list thing
for me to meet him one day.
Love these resto blogs!

So happy to see Jay have a young person, Eva learning a lost trade! The packing reminded me of packing the jute to seal up cast iron pipes!
Great to see you, I see you haven't slowed down any since the minor accidents. I don't pay much attention to what some of the news outlets say, when I hear it from you I know it's the truth.
My favorite episodes have always been the restoration blogs. I absolutely love them! Keep em coming!
If Jay Leno liked firearms as much as he does cars, he'd have his own arsenal full of them!
My god I love Jay can hardly tell he’s in pain and still extremely entertaining
Beyond the mechanical preservation, Jay's preservation of the history of each car in his collection is remarkable. Keeping the bug owners informed about progress, or going up Mt. Washington with the Stanley's builder I'm sure means/meant the world to their previous owners. He is a role model and national treasure. I hope he is blessed with many more years to enjoy his passion.
Mother Nature was so impressed, with the Mt. Washington climb, she Farted a Volcano.
@@ihavefallenandicantreachmy2113 Mt Washington in NH is not a volcano
What makes all this work is Jay's ability to surround himself with people that share the same passions and drive to do the job better and not settle for mediocrity. Glad to see you're back in the saddle.
Long live Jay! Glad he is ok and back at it.
Always good to see Jimmy on the show!
The restoration blogs are the best. Thanks for saving these parts of car history Jay!
Also, that Volvo 240 at the end 27:06 looks fantastic. Are we going to see it in the future?
145 I believe
Tetra blue Volvo 145
it is a 1971 Volvo 145 E in a one year only color ;)
Thank you so much for what you and your crew do for cars and history! On top of that Jay makes it interesting to a much larger audience.
Sense of humor, intact. Age, decapitation, mechanical damage?
Keep on rocking Jay!
I've got a project that's taken years...... still got to put that picture hook on the wall.. 😀 I really appreciate jay's clips on projects, cars, bikes and people, they are real, inspire me to think about that picture hook... 😉
Always a pleasure to meet your remarkable staff members Jay, you're lucky to have them!
