      Yes. To tell you the truth, if the weekly videos were ONLY restoration blogs, I would be content. They probably think that because they work so painstakingly, people would tune out because they wouldn't see dramatic changes from the preceding week, but I love the minutia. I think many others would too. Maybe their views would take a bit of a hit, unless as you say, they continued with the regular videos too.

      I did not own a Nash but I did own a 73 AMC ambassador _2 door hardtop between 83 and 1992 it had 360 v-8 jeep engine when I sold it it had 152,000 miles on the dial!

    Jay is just the consummate enthusiast, he keeps his cars and bikes original, but with the caveat that it MUST be safely drivable! There is a kind of genius to the way his shop upgrades these old cars to keep them on the road with a fighting chance for survival! It’s EXACTLY how I would do it, because driving is the point.

    I’d love to see more of these but with a focus on the work itself and the craftsman that do it. Show us the process from 3D printing to investment casting, CNCing, fabbing the clutch. Love all the Jay vids, but restoration blogs are the best.

    Hi Jay, and greetings from the UK. First of all I'd like to thank you for all of your fantastic videos. I've been an avid watcher of yours ever since I discovered your channel all those years ago, and the first thing I do when I wake up every Monday morning is watch the new episode of Jay Leno's Garage whilst I have my morning coffee. I've been a car fanatic ever since I can remember. In fact, like yourself, I'm facinated by just about everything of a mechanical nature. I find your videos all the more enjoyable because of, not just your knowledge of whatever vehicle or machine is that weeks subject, but your obvious enthusiasm for it all too. Also, your "garage" is something to behold. It's such an eclectic collection and with all the other items displayed, plus an incredible workshop with a group of amazing, highly skilled guys working with you really is any petrol/gear heads dream setup. You must feel proud, not to mention blessed, each time you enter that place, and all I can say is, how on earth do you decide what to drive each day?? Anyway, I hadn't meant to waffle on for so long. The main reason for my commenting on this particular video was the beautiful Chrysler 300 with fuel injection you featured. Although you mentioned it was incredibly rare and even an employee of Chrysler at the time would pretty much deny it's existence because it was doomed from the start due to the injection system being so complicated, I have a book in front of me called Great American Automobiles of the 50's and it obviously features the Chrysler 300 series. However, it does actually mention the fuel injected version. It's says a Bendix Electrojector system was available as a $400 option, but as you mentioned, proved so unreliable most of them were converted to carburettors. It also says only 16 were ordered.     If you love cars, or any kind of vehicle, you've just gotta love Jay. What I appreciate most about this man is he loves everything. New, old, American, foreign, it doesn't matter. That how I've always felt. Cars and trucks are the greatest (and most beautiful) things ever created by man. Thank God there are people who save them.

    It’s great that you not only try to keep as much as original as possible, but also recreate parts as close to original. Updating critical parts where necessary to make these beauties safe and reliable to drive is a good call. Rather than being a rusty museum piece, they’re safe to drive and appreciate. They’ll still be going for years to come 👍 Great video.

      I have a friend that dated a girl with one of those in the 80s, they had taken out the I6 and put a V8 in it, but her father had the I6, they got married then he talked her into getting it restored, were talking early 1980s, the restorer gets it apart and blasts the frame, then it sat for a couple years, my friend gets tired of waiting and tells the guy he wants it back, the guy wouldn't let him have it, he had to take him to court to get it back, so then it sat another ten years in his garage while he raised his kids etc, he eventually sold it in the 90s.
      The whole time his wife gave him grief, as far as she was concerned she had a nice convertible she could drive, she didn't care the motor wasn't correct, she just liked driving it.

      There was talk back in the late 60s, that GMH in Australia were looking at the Pontiac OHV 6, to be used in the Holden. In the end they went for the Chev V8.

    Restoration Blog is THE reason why I have subscribed this channel. I would love to see more of it, especially of the work itself and not just the results. I bet a lot of people would like to see how you solve problems regarding restorations, e.g. using the 3D-scanner and printer. It would also be nice, if you could visit some of the companies you are working with and let them give you (and us) a tour through their workshops.

    Every time we get these terrific walking tours of the garage I'm amazed at all the things that cover the walls. There mus be thousands of framed photos and automotive artwork of every size. I'm sure Jay will outlive me and probably most of everyone here, but unless he's the actual Highlander I can't help thinking about the inevitable auction that will send all this stuff back out into the world to be collected by the next generation of auto enthusiasts. Nothing lasts forever. Everything lasts forever.

    The best thing about the 1968 Firebird Sprint from a mechanic's point of view was that you could work on the engine easily, no having to jack up on sides to replace the spark plugs, but the timing belt was a little on the weak side. I worked at Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC Truck dealer from 72 to 74 and did a factory tune up on one once, it took 2 cans of carb cleaner to get all the carbon out of it, the lady who owned it never took it out on the highway and got around 5 miles to the Imperial gallon, after the tune up she took it out on about a 75 mile highway run and got around 20 miles per Imperial gallon. so she was happy. Thanks Jay.

    Jay, I lost track of when Covid hit. Thankfully, I didn't contract it. You are a national treasure, in my opinion. Do you have a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner? I had one. One day at a gas station, a fellow came over and showed me something interesting about the electrical wiring. With the key off, pressing the brake peddle with the turn signal, gives power to the radio. I now have ALS, I retired from being an A&P aircraft mechanic. I'm awed by the skills of your guys. You bring me joy in each of your episodes. I like the steam powered cars best. Thank you so much for doing and sharing. Mark Pullen

    Thanks Jay, My Mom had a 66 Tempest Safari wagon with the OHC 6. I have always been a car guy even then, being 8 years old. I couldn't understand why all the service station guys oohed and awed over that engine when they opened the hood. I was, like so many impressed with cubic inches. It was a very good car for her. She traded it in 72 when it had 90,000 miles for a 71 Montego. Thanks again, I look forward to viewing every Monday morning, it starts my week right.

    The Pontiac Sprint ohc six was NOT the first ohc six done in America. Jeep’s Tornado 3.8L ohc six launched in the 1963 Gladiator pickup and Wagoneer SUV.

      I had a '63 with the Tornado OHC. Dependability wasn't it's strong suit, especially the "floating" distributor, but when it was running, it was a hoss.

      He did not say it was the first. He said he believes it was the first with a RUBBER TIMING BELT instead of a chain. [EDIT] I just rewound the tape and stand corrected. He did say it was the first overhead cam 6.

      Haha, I thought the same thing....Kaiser Willys Jeep Tornado OHC 6 in 1962! 140 hp, and it only had a 6 lobe camshaft...one lobe for both intake and exhaust!

      Tornado engine was a beast and reliable once fixed from some issues. Check the argentinian ika torino.

      If I remember well, they fixed the machanicals but he wanted to keep the "patina" of the race car it was.

    It's amazing how you can 3D scan something and then CNC it! Perfect for bringing all these obsolete parts back and giving these classic cars new life.

      Coming soon on the Discovery channel - Jay Leno's Reality Garage. Mild mannered Bernard trades punches with Jimmy in a fight over a magneto. Quiet man of the paint booth, Per , tells George the steam engineer he's doing it all wrong , leading George to chuck a spanner and Jay's McLaren F1...... thankfully not.

      Jimmy was the guy working on the brass water jacket on that race car too. Jay is willing to let Jimmy do it right, so basically Mr. Hudson now has the dream craftsman job. Plus they are all working on a project of their own in Jay's shop. Jay knows how to handle car nuts.

    Jay...I believe Jeep were the first to offer the overhead cam 6 in the USA..it being the 230 Tornado ..introduced in 1962...the Pontiac was first offered in 67

    Many moons ago when I was a young house painter in the Bay Area I had a sweet green 72 Vega wagon with Ansen slotted mags and 60 series tires with a 4 speed, it had that classic 70s California surf wagon look.
    I found a 68 Firebird Sprint HO in the classifieds, 4speed stick, with the 4barrel Quadrajet, also had split exhaust manifold, 6 into 2.
    The pretty young blonde owner drove it to CA from Colorado, well she just loved my Vega as it was a stick, and we did a straight trade!
    What a blast I had that summer commuting to work in that car, I recall it did not have PS or PB so that motor revved freely, eventually I restored it completely including rebuilding that engine myself (my first)
    McCullochs on Valencia St. in SF did the machine work. That motor was so smooth and quiet all you would hear coming down the street was the jet whoosh of the custom aluminum fan.
    I found another rebuilt 1 barrel motor so I pulled my HO and kept it for many years, wish I still had it, but I mentioned it to my neighbor and he bugged me for many years to sell it to him, he finally got it. Sold the car to a young lady who eventually wrecked it. Great engine, great GT car.

    I love these restoration updates. But this one has led me to a question, maybe even an idea for another one off video jay. I've noticed you've mentioned a few times about cars you were interested in, and have now subsequently got. So my question and potential video one off, what are the white whales you are currently chasing to add to the collection? I kinda want to know what the man with hundreds of auto's still wants.

    Jay is keeping many mechanics busy full time with all these totally different cars. Love the 1968 Firebird Convert. Sprint. I had a 67 Sprint with a 3spd manual. Those sixes can actually get bumped up to around 280 HP very easily. Thank you Jay and John DeLorean .!!!

    Jay, I think it is wonderful that you can own all of these great cars and motorcycles. It's been said that a man needs a hobby ! I am close to your age and slowly realizing that you only go around once so if you can , enjoy the ride. I will be a watcher.

    "This is probably the third time we've shown this car." And that is 100% ok with me. I can't get enough of seeing this car. Would love to see something like an hour long, or much longer, video of the whole process with this car. I absolutely love it.

    Hell yeah, can't wait for the Jensen drive. I'd never heard of them until Jay's Interceptor episode. I'm a big Mopar guy (if only I could afford a good one), and perversely pretty into fun well-handling cars, so they're right up my alley. I'm fascinated by the Wills St. Claire, too. Jay has turned me onto a whole bunch of rigs I'd otherwise not have known about. I'm also pretty into old GMs, and never knew about the 4.1 straight six Pontiac, so I'm looking pretty forward to that too. I watch every week, and I'm slowly starting to like the restoration blog shows at least as well as the 'normal' ones. I like nerding out on old accurate restorations, and I love that these guys do it as right as can be done today. Awesome job, thank you all!
