She's even saying she "is struggling to come to an understanding" as if any of that should be her responsibility. No wonder she can't seem to get angry or think she should leave. @@hacccccc978 it’s more about the intent behind the hand holding. He wasn’t holding her hand to help her cross the street or something. No, it was a sexual advance. He also said he was “fulfilling a teenage fantasy.” If it was a normal hand hold between parental figure and child, then he wouldn’t say this.
My immediate thought was… wait? He’s married and why can’t he go home and get that from her?! When my hubby needs words of affirmation and a kind touch, he comes and tells me, his wife …. And I do it. Or he might get a hug from his mom if she is in town or we are visiting on a rare occasion….or he will pray about it and deal with his emotions himself. Just like I told my kids…. Good adults dont ask kids to help them for things. Healthy adults will ask you to get your parents to help if they don’t see an adult. But if a man, woman or older child is asking a younger child to come “help” them… they are almost certainly up to no good and you should come inside or to me with your siblings right away! 13 year olds have sex, some of them have sex and nowadays very young children sexualize themselves. I don't see how one biting their lip means anything but it is possible that young people can try to come on to older people. @@ASmith-jn7kf Very young children do not "sexualize themselves". They either imitate or are taught by adults. @@ASmith-jn7kf Are you trying to justify an adult touching a minor on the basis of “13 year olds have sex”? They’re kids and they’re being what kids naturally are- curious. That doesn’t give an adult the right to take advantage. I’m pretty sure you didn’t take advantage of these 7/8 year olds, correct? I know first hand MANY families that covered this kind of thing up because they take it into their own hands and would rather cover this up to protect a “good man who made a bad choice” then to protect a child who was abused. This is so so triggering to me. This woman is also part of the problem as she did nothing and early in the call tried to blame the child for it. Shame on every adult here! Shame on the church. And I wish I could help this child call the cops for herself. She will age to disrespect her parents and probably find fault with God due to human error. Disgusting and terribly sad. When my niece was sexually assaulted on the Salvation army sunday school bus by a predator the church stood by him. The man had been in and out of prison for sexually assaulting children for 30 years when he assaulted my niece and other children on the bus. He told the children God would get them if they told. The church stood by him in court. The church said he had a right to forgiveness. The church didnot say sorry to the victims and their families. My parents also protected my brother who sexually assaulted me and some of my siblings. They said he was away due to a head injury when he was sent somewhere else for a little while. Our parents then went into denial.
I’m so sorry. It makes my blood boil when churches throw away their God given mandate and join in the abuser’s evil like that. I pray you have found or can find healing.
If he was caught holding an adult woman’s hand and gave the excuse that she was coming on to him would she forgive or would she say, WTH?!? This is 100x worse.
Every adult in this situation failed this child except for Dr. John Delony. This happened to a young girl in my church and it was covered up. She has residual problems to this day because of this.
When I was 15 my best friends older sister (16) was groped and touched sexually at a house party by his oldest sisters husband who was 35 at the time. I lived with them since we were close family friends while my dad had a new house built for us. So I got to see the entire process play out. She did not leave him, charges were pressed by her parents (his in laws) he did 1 year in jail and to this day is still a registered sex offender (this happened in like 2004. Their marriage fell apart over this and divorced like 3 years after the incident. He could not pick up his own kids from school because of his status, lost his job and almost all his family. Ppl need to be held accountable
When I was younger like 13 my friend (14) and I made jokes about an adult guy at our camp something like “are you a top or bottom” and he reported us and we had to go have a talk about it with the director. At the time I was mad thinking what’s the big deal. Now I’m glad, he did the right thing.
when I did that, I was 14 and I was seriously asking this older guy. Not even joking lol. He was 26 and we hooked up the next day when no one else was around lol.... one of the best times I ever had.
@@BMFstudiosNYC There is something seriously wrong with you. You sound like a predator pretending to be a victim that “liked it”. I think the authorities should be looking into you
First question: Why is he still your husband? I'm confused as to how she thinks there's a way forward in this marriage. The only phone calls I'd be making are 1) to the police and 2) a divorce attorney. He wouldn't be returning to my home after "rehab." End of story.
John is 1000% correct !! The husband has issues . 100% if they called the police like they should have , the police would have found something in his home.
@Jacob Rodriguez Yes I think so. If not it clearly should be. Worst case scenario we learn something we didn't know - that there is somehow a conceivable justification for such an action. His own attempt to justify it already rules that out though.
Oh come on, this isnt the first time. Him and this girl didnt just all of a sudden out of the blue, feel comfortable holding hands at church in front of her dad of all people. These kinds of things tend to move slowly. I wouldnt doubt he's been grooming her for a while now and this was just the time he got caught. Im willing to bet the thrill of possibly getting caught was a huge part of this particular situation for him. He has probably, at the very least, had a flirtation with her for a while now and he eventually got bold enough to do it where others could catch him.
It’s scary that this guy not only manipulated a child but also her father, his church and his wife. He can’t be trusted and his past should be looked at. As a Christian I realize that churches handling this is our version of sharia law. Bad news.
As a church youth worker we were mandated reporters. absolutely anything that ever happened like that were were not only required to tell the lead pastor but the cops, we were taught the questions to ask. ZERO tolerance for this. The church did bother the woman on the phone and the young girl wrong. No excuse for this leadership at this church. None.
When I was thirteen I was abused by a 38 year old man. I blamed myself for the abuse for years. It wasn’t till I went and did Ayahuasca a few years ago that I came to terms with the fact that he was a predator and I was a victim. I grew up in a small town and he was a cop. It definitely lets the child down when the adult MAN is protected and you are painted as the problem.

I have been in this woman's shoes (details vary slightly) and I can 100% tell her that relationship is over. It's hard to admit that at first, It took me a full 6months to realize it for myself. Remember it's to your responsibility to protect your kid. Nobody else will do it.
how could any father step aside and let a predator who touched their daughter go free? that has to be very traumatizing for that poor girl. no one is protecting her.
Why isn’t she being held accountable too? She knows so shouldn’t she have called the cops? She is just as guilty as the church is for not reporting this.
My husband has struggled with porn for most of his adult life. He would NEVER be turned on, or seek "affirmation and a kind touch" from a child. Her church leadership let her, her son, that girl and any other girl that goes there, down and should be held accountable for it.
Yeah right. Most of the girls in porn are underage and sex trafficking victims. If he's a porn addict he's a part of the problem. Don't lie to yourself.
I think it's lame that someone deleted my comment so I'll go ahead and comment again. If your husband is a p*** addict then most of the girls he's looking at are probably underage and being sex trafficked he's part of the problem.
Girl please you and this woman in the same boat! The audacity of you to come in here to BOAST bout your nasty low vibrating husband as if he should receive a reward!
Everyone feels sorry for the wife but what about the young girl who was being groomed and is being told she deserves no justice and has to keep her mouth shut about it too? This must have been a very traumatizing experience for her.
It was the wife calling in. That's how counseling works. Dr John had a responsibility to focus on her. If the girl called in, his focus would have been on her too.
ikr… also the fact that this woman is considering staying with her husband which would mean he would still be around their child? who knows if he’d end up going after their own kid next. i would never take that risk as a mother. i would have immediately called the police, called a divorce lawyer, took my kid and left.

I hope someone knows who these people are and call the police. This is evil and sickening. The man needs to be reported and put on a list. If he does this to another child and maybe have done this in the past. Everyone is at fault if he does this again for ignoring it and not reporting it. Shame on the church and everyone involved.

However, she needs to get a clue and protect herself, and her son, before her husband behaves inappropriately with him! Also, SHAME ON HER CHURCH for not calling the police on this man who is clearly SICK and needs to be kept as far away from children as possible.
Dear God she is not the victim. It’s the young girl who was being groomed who is the victim. This woman even tried victim blaming her and continues to support this pathetic man by staying with him. She should be helping put away a criminal like that in jail and leave him. Enablers of pricks like these are just as bad and oppressive to the victim as the oppressor themselves.
I have never made a comment before, but I have to say the cognitive dissonance between "it was nothing sexual" and then being in rehab for a "sex addiction" is mind boggling. If holding her hand wasnt sexual (which it obviously was) then why do you need to be in rehab for a sex addiction? And if you're addicted sex, but your only evidence is sexual contact with a child. Then you're not addicted to sex. You are sexually attracted to kids. And if you want sexual contact with kids, rehab is not where you should be.
We should ALWAYS stand up for kids. No matter the situation. I am glad John said to bring in the authories. Such a wise response to a delicate situation.
When I was 28, I was crushing on a 54 year old - HARD. When I told him, he said, "You are way too young. You could be my child. We can be platonic friends, but nothing more." The wife will not leave him. Her tone isn't angry enough for the situation, she has already forgiven him and he will continue to be a predator.
She's trying to be the wife the church has taught her she is supposed to be: meek, supportive, suppresses her own needs for her husband, if her husband strays sexually it's obviously her fault, and most of all she's supposed to be submissive to her husband and let him rule over her and the family. They’d go and pick up stuff and I’d be there chillin with the prisoners, one I had a crush on of course. Smh. He kind of deflected me but kind of not. He was in for drugs, 26. And I remember thinking that was so old! But not too old for me somehow! Your brain’s just not developed at that age. Now I’m almost 33 and can’t even believe they had me out there lol. I left him my number and he called me once, then said it wasn’t right, or safe. I can’t even remember his first name now but I wondered about him for a while.

I think that she called because she wanted permission to sit in “judgement” and leave him. Shes knows the whole situation with the husband , the other parents and the church did the wrong thing. She just needed that affirmation to leave her husband
I got that same sense too. Not sure that she wanted to sit "in judgement", but more that, 'is this thing big enough, wrong enough, to go against religious teachings and leave him?' I guess she is wrestling with the 'forgiveness' doctrine, with what he is doing is basically unforgivable. Permission to follow her instinct, absolutely.

100% agree. Felt like he was holding her hand a little instead of giving her the reality check she needs. Her husband has shown preditory behavior and needs to be investigated.
You can't go to jail for holding hands with a child. HOWEVER, he is grooming her. He needs to be kept away from minors. Period, the end.
Yes! That’s not normal behavior
Yes, he needs to be arrested, charged and put on a sex offenders register.
The girl also needs to checked (sympathetically) by social services. If she was behaving inappropriately for her age she may have already been sexualised by another abuser. How I'd love to introduce this woman to my aunt. She spent 45 years in a marriage to a man just like this. These men look for passive women who depend on them and that's how this abuse continues.
Or they look for strong women who have busy careers and are not looking for the signs. The signs here are obvious. But there are many strong, independent women who get taken advantage of because this monstrous stuff never crosses their mind and the men get away with it by abusing the trust bestowed upon them.

13 year olds have sex, some of them have sex and nowadays very young children sexualize themselves. I don't see how one biting their lip means anything but it is possible that young people can try to come on to older people. I went to church and there were two young men probably around 7 or 8 and they were smiling and looking at me so I waved and smiled back, I was about 20/21 at the time. @@ASmith-jn7kf Wow. Do you really not see the issue with your comment? "Young men" "7 or 8" ???!! THEY ARE KIDS.
@@ASmith-jn7kf Very young children do not "sexualize themselves". They either imitate or are taught by adults. If young teenagers are sexually active, let it be with their peers, not grown ass adults, especially not married ones in this case. Also, 7 or 8 year old boys are not young men, they're children. I hope that you're just too young or naive to realize how problematic your comment is. There is absolutely NO responsibility a child holds in dealing with adults. @@ASmith-jn7kf Are you trying to justify an adult touching a minor on the basis of “13 year olds have sex”? Yes 13 year olds have hormones and may be curious about sex, but an adult knows not to engage with a child. Regardless of whether they sexualize themselves or not. They’re kids and they’re being what kids naturally are- curious. That doesn’t give an adult the right to take advantage. I’m pretty sure you didn’t take advantage of these 7/8 year olds, correct? You are not a psychologist. You have no idea the emotions she is feeling about her husband and father of her child.
This is EXACTLY the kind of “church” cult I was raised in! John is 1000% correct !! The husband has issues . 100% if they called the police like they should have , the police would have found something in his home.
And there was likely more that happened
Jacob , yea true.
@Jacob Rodriguez Yes I think so. If not it clearly should be. Worst case scenario we learn something we didn't know - that there is somehow a conceivable justification for such an action. His own attempt to justify it already rules that out though.
@Jacob Rodriguez A grown man with a 13-year-old girl? They would.
They would've found some interesting things in the childs home too...
He has probably, at the very least, had a flirtation with her for a while now and he eventually got bold enough to do it where others could catch him.
yup
100%
Predators are terrified of getting caught. You are absolutely right, to be so brazen means he's too used to it.
Bingo.
Quite possibly.
It’s scary that this guy not only manipulated a child but also her father, his church and his wife. He can’t be trusted and his past should be looked at.
As a Christian I realize that churches handling this is our version of sharia law. Bad news.
This video is from 3 years ago...can we get an update? Is this man in prison yet?
As a church youth worker we were mandated reporters. absolutely anything that ever happened like that were were not only required to tell the lead pastor but the cops, we were taught the questions to ask. ZERO tolerance for this. The church did bother the woman on the phone and the young girl wrong. No excuse for this leadership at this church. None.
Both*
Yes! anybody who works with children professionally are mandatory reporters. Shame on the church leaders!
It's cuz they're dirty too.
👏👏
BY LAW, EVERYONE IS MANDATED TO REPORT, EVEN IF THEY SUSPECT ANY CHILD ABUSE!
I’m so sorry. One of my abusers wanted to become a police officer and thankfully he didn’t. That thought scared me to death.
@@Joy-xe6df it’s definitely wild how these type of abusers go for professional that “help” people. I wonder if that’s guilt or them finding something to hide behind. “Like look I’m a cop so I am a good person.”
I am a leader in our church and I can tell you that if anything ike this happened in our church we would immediately contact the police. I get so angry at churches that try to cover up this type of thing. It gives a bad name to all churches. This disgusts me.
I have been in this woman's shoes (details vary slightly) and I can 100% tell her that relationship is over. It's hard to admit that at first, It took me a full 6months to realize it for myself. Remember it's to your responsibility to protect your kid. Nobody else will do it.
Did you at least do your homework?
She sounds like Anna Duggar
Kudos to you for coming to that realization and acting on it in time to protect your own child.
She has to leave. Her life will be wasted with this guy...hes a creep.
She won’t leave until she wakes up to her delusion.
The fact that she even thinks there is another option after seeing him touch a child is disturbing. Not sure she’s much better either
She needs therapy
The father should just file that police report. Soooo uncool
how could any father step aside and let a predator who touched their daughter go free? that has to be very traumatizing for that poor girl. no one is protecting her.
@@sueblack5794 Because, like everything else, if you ignore it, it will go away.
loved how she tried to blame the child..
Why isn’t she being held accountable too? She knows so shouldn’t she have called the cops? She is just as guilty as the church is for not reporting this.
YES!!!!!!!
She’s heard all of this third person. Everyone would deny and she would look foolish.
@@SharonRepiciRemember you can always report anonymously!
if the father of the girl and the girl refuse there isnt much u can do
In my state she would be charged because it’s a crime to know of a crime against a child and not report it.
Never say never.
@@mikikikishe gotta b crazy
Everyone feels sorry for the wife but what about the young girl who was being groomed and is being told she deserves no justice and has to keep her mouth shut about it too? This must have been a very traumatizing experience for her.
It was the wife calling in. That's how counseling works. Dr John had a responsibility to focus on her. If the girl called in, his focus would have been on her too.
Have you not read the comment section? No one feels sorry for the wife
ikr… also the fact that this woman is considering staying with her husband which would mean he would still be around their child? who knows if he’d end up going after their own kid next. i would never take that risk as a mother. i would have immediately called the police, called a divorce lawyer, took my kid and left.
@@leabeauty837 the guy says multiple times that the 13yo girl is the victim here and that everyone failed her, her church failed her and her parents failed her, and he admonishes the wife for even suggesting that the girl was being provocative
3:47 the way John shook his head says everything he thinks about this woman. He navigated this ridiculous call very well. Defending a predator is insanity
I hope someone knows who these people are and call the police. This is evil and sickening. The man needs to be reported and put on a list. If he does this to another child and maybe have done this in the past. Everyone is at fault if he does this again for ignoring it and not reporting it. Shame on the church and everyone involved.
These people (at the church) are mandatory reporters. They could be held legally responsible for not reporting this.
@Jacob Rodriguez it clearly was not just "holding hands" and if you can't see that, I'm not sure what to tell you.
All involved should be reported to proper authorities
@Jacob Rodriguez when he claims that the girl was “being provocative” that alludes to it being for more than holding hands 🤦🏽♀️
@Jacob Rodriguez are you a predator?
Bless this woman's heart; she is so naive. My heart is broken for her because of this situation. However, she needs to get a clue and protect herself, and her son, before her husband behaves inappropriately with him! Also, SHAME ON HER CHURCH for not calling the police on this man who is clearly SICK and needs to be kept as far away from children as possible.
She’s not naive. The problem is she loves her husband and her mind is trying to protect her from this. She can’t come to accept that he did wrong.
@@ntmn8444 That's literal naivety you just described.
I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR HER!!! AT ALL!!! SHE IS THE PROBLEM TOO!!!
I bet they’re Mormon. They deal with all that stuff “in house”
Divorce him, move, and start over. File a police report and get a restraining order on this creep.
🎯🎯
We should ALWAYS stand up for kids. No matter the situation. I am glad John said to bring in the authories. Such a wise response to a delicate situation.
When I was 28, I was crushing on a 54 year old - HARD. When I told him, he said, "You are way too young. You could be my child. We can be platonic friends, but nothing more." THAT'S the kind of person you want to have a relationship with; a person with ethics, a moral compass, and who genuinely cares for others. That guy is GROSS. This is where it starts. And that's IF the child and that disgusting guy were telling the truth!
28?
28? What? You were well into adulthood. Don’t act like it’s creepy for two adults to have feelings for each other.
Big difference

"Words of affirmations and a kind touch" from a 13 yr old. Sure Jan. Plus I feel like its more than holding hands.
BS. This man never needs to be alone with children EVER again
She needs to realize that holding hands would have lead to much worse had he not been caught. The explanation about wanting to work the sound booth was probably a way to get close to her.
I was thinking the same thing. He is a predator he just wanted to get close to her to groom the girl.
Thats what i think to, and probably it wasnt the first time
Yes, that's f disgusting 🚫🚫🚫❌❌❌
She probably wanted it to, that's the whole problem. It's up to the adults to shut these situations down because a 13 year kid doesn't know what the heck shes doing. They literally have an underdeveloped brain. It's disgusting that an adult would behave the way this guy did.
@@littleripper312 I was referring to the wife..
This is scary. He was testing the water with handholding and didn't serve jail time. His actions will get bolder and bolder until he is stopped. How many victims will be sacrificed before he is stopped?
It goes back to the whole evangelical churches blaming young girls for their sin. I remember being told to cover my body so that my “brother” would not be tempted. I still have issues as a 48 year old woman trying to make sure I dress modestly. I don’t even like wearing shorts due to how I was treated.
This is so common with churches covering up to save public embarrassment.
