    This looked like a solid option till I saw the price. You could put a pretty hardcore case on any phone for that price. Still glad to see this brand going though.

    I just got myself a Kyocera Torque G03 few days ago, and it's my 1st feel on rugged phone. i know ppl will say, its a 'years ago' phone, but still, even with that 'years ago' stats, it's so feature packed!
    USB-C, mid-range processor, 3/32GB, nfc, earphone jack, and even wireless charging! Heck, Kyocera did wonders for their costumers!

      I miss those lil chunky Kyoceras. I liked the smaller screens being harder to damage.

    phones like these would've been very useful when I was in the army serving as a technician. The soft polycarbonate shell of the Lumia 800 didn't hold up well. the phone is still alive but I can't put in my Sim card. My Lumia 925 saved me when my buddy carelessly threw the pipe wrench off the side of the car as I was coming out from underneath, but I think this phone would have survived that.

    Wonder how more metallic phones like the redmagic fare?
    I can personally say ceramic phones should be the high end. Ceramic beats glass and only matches it in drop protection. Even then, I dropped my mix 1 several times before it got cracked.

  • @s0fa6k145
    @s0fa6k145 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Currently using an older 2016 Kyocera. I've dropped this thing several times and it's still working perfect after half a year. I can't say that for any other smartphone I've owned. Also I don't even have a screen protector or case on this, like I did all of my other phones.
    I don't like the low quality photos on this 2016 phone, but it's worth keeping otherwise. Also as I said my version is from near 2016, so apps aren't up to date. For example my bank app can't be installed, so I have to use the web browser in cases like that.

      I've had my Kyocera Duraforce pro 2 for 4 years and it's been through hell and back and only now starting to slow down. I decided on the durasport vs the new Duraforce 5G because I couldn't justify doubling the price for what many reviewers called, "not worth the price for only slight improvement". I hope the durasport doesn't disappoint!

    Almost $600 bucks? You can get a very good used or new but slightly older flagship for less. I guess they're counting on it's rugged nature being sufficient. at least it's not $900 like the balmuda phone.

    I have this phone, it fell off my couch arm rest and it screwed up the functions, my keypad goes away when trying to type, it goes back to original screen when trying to explore internet for info, dirt and dust got in the "flap" type cover at the top of the phone covering the speaker now the speaker sounds like crap. to be labeled "rugged" is not so true. Pass on this phone, I had it about a yr and was relatively careful with it. Going for a new phone now

    I know this video is a year or so old, but to anyone considering buying this phone: DON'T. There is a VERY LIMITED number of cases where this phone is useful. If you're a business owner who wants to give out company phones to road warriors, knowing that they will only use one or two apps (Teams, Outlook, etc), then it might be useful because it's a bit more rugged than the normal phone. Or if you have a kid who breaks phones and is online too much, you could give him this phone that he can't break and will be so disgusted with the experience that he won't use it. As a daily driver? TERRIBLE. I have a DuraForce Ultra 5G UW that I paid off, and I saw that this phone's camera was better, so I tried it. This phone is a DISASTER. Camera takes 1 minute to start up and the fact it has more megapixels is meaningless. If you are navigating via Google Maps, playing Pandora music, and then somebody calls you, this phone becomes literally unusable for at least 10 minutes because it can't run all of those things at the same time.
