I'm watching this because I'm in the delivery industry and have somehow broken 3 screens on my Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro which is supposed to be a rugged phone, I need something that won't break if it's accidentally dropped or gets wet in Inclement weather, this phone seems to tick off everything I need for a work phone. Awesome video and thank you for creating it
The phone can take a hit. It will shut down if you get it extremely cold for long enough or extremely hot for long enough, but you really have to be in a walk-in freezer or leave it out in the direct sunlight too long to do that. The downside to this phone is that the camera and microphone suck! This is a terrible phone to have if you want to make TH-cam videos, especially shorts.
The fones are durable, but I'm less than pleased with the cameras, microphones, touch screen, or some of the apps that are installed in it. The primary purpose of my smartfone is for use as a TH-camr so the only advantage this one has is that it can be dropped a lot. If it falls off the tripod or wind blows it over or something like that the fone is probably going to be fine. The microphone on the new fone is terrible. It doesn't hear me when using talk to text if there's any background noise. It's terrible for making voiceovers. It'll definitely take the abuse hiking or working in a factory though.
@@Squib1911 Yeah, it depends alot on how we use the phone. The Pro-2 was flawless the whole time I had it. My Ultra 5G had glitches galore when I first purchased it but updates from Kyocera took care of them. As an outdoorsman I do prioritize ruggedness and the Kyocera's do possess that.
I just upgraded from a dura force pro 1 to a dura force pro 3. If pro 1 didn't quit working I would have kept it. The new phone is much faster but learning new technology is a pain in the ass.
So far I have also noticed that it takes longer to charge and discharge. On the way home while recording a Speaking Squibbish the microphone on the new fone did not react well to bumps and the audio was choppy. There's still some bugs to work out and this fone does not compete well with other fones, with the exception of how much punishment it can take.
@@Squib1911 I wonder if you could use a Bluetooth mic with it that would be clipped to you instead of the built in mic. Yeah, unless they give you a charger that pushes more milliamps it would take longer to charge due to the higher capacity pack.
I've had my ultra for over a year and I love it I've only put the cheap Silicone case off Amazon on it So it does not Get roughed up when falling on the concrete all the timeI It's a great phone I will give it 5 stars
It's unfortunate that people don't know about rugged phones. They are all I buy. I had the first Dura Force and after two years of my well known abuse, not a scratch on the screen. Had the King Kong by Cubit and the X5 by Ulefone. Amazing. Motorola G Pure lasted mw about five minutes. Go rugged. Stay rugged. Worth it.
I love Samsung phones... HOWEVER, I have broken every one of them. So I got the duraforce pro2. I have dropped this thing a few thousand times.... From VERY high places a few times. NOT A SCRATCH ON IT! I just wish the camera didn't suck compared to Samsung... Hoping KYOCERA eventually improves the camera on their newer rugged phones.
There are times owning both of these phones that I've regretted it and wanted to have an iPhone instead. The audio and video quality on these phones suck. That's not good for a TH-camr. The keyboard and the talk to text on these phones suck as well as well as the screen being affected by raindrops or not being able to always detect inputs from my fingertips. But this phone can be dropped multiple times onto concrete every day and survive, whereas the iPhone would probably shatter the first time you dropped it. Even if I put a case on the iPhone it doesn't guarantee as much durability as is built into this phone. I'm disappointed that it doesn't fit the charging pad on my truck and I'm kind of disappointed that it has the same problems as previous model. I can recommend it for somebody who does a lot of outdoor activities or blue collar work, but anything outside of that I wouldn't recommend it.
I buy nothing but $50 smartphones from Walmart I have a big screen I have the Motorola g something, I've cracked the screen about nine times on this phone it still works, if it breaks i go out spend 50 bucks buy another one. $50 unlimited talk, text, and internet I don't know why anybody has a phone contact anymore
The people who aren't poor have phone contracts. Companies have phone contracts. The government has phone contracts. If that system works for you then I don't see a problem with it. It's not the way I do things and I'm okay with the money. If I wasn't I suppose I'd buy $50 phones at Walmart and throw them out. To each their own. It just be nice if somebody made a more durable phone with all of the best features. I'd buy it.

Cut some slots so that will slide onto the wireless charger. Or even a heat gun might soften the sides of the charger enough to allow you to slip it into the space. Does that make sense?
Texting and fone calls and checking e-mails only? Probably. I'm a TH-camr. I use my fone more than most. I can get about a day out of a charge taking pictures and filming and watching YT videos. That doesn't mean twelve hours of non-stop use. I do sit the fone down too. I have several chargers nearby at most times, so I don't concern myself with battery life. My iPhone 13 gets better battery life than this, but wouldn't survive the same drop.
the phone battery is more towards the bottom..youre trying to charge the phone at the top in your truck..try the other way to see..but phone companies and car companies need to talk so they can make the wireless charger actually fit peoples phone because some have a bigger phone then the phone in this video

Bought my last three phones used.(Amazon) Described as refurbished. Just means cleaned an checked out. No problems an inexpensive. New phone phone price's are retarded. Original had moto g. If you're wanting something comparable to iphone or high end android. You will be disappointed. Hopefully my current phone lasts a few years. Personally won't by anything other than a rugged phone.

Or I will go with the new Sonim xp10.
Just curious does this phone still get updates in 2023?
Yes. It isn't that old yet.
