    Please read and consider the following before beginning the installation:
    1. Purchase and plug in a "Surge Protector" in the electrical outlet you will be using for your new ($450 - $1200) water softener to protect it
    2. Place "five gallons" of water in a CLEAN five-gallon bucket (you have one right? No, go get one or more b4 proceeding) also fill up the cat & dog bowls and other buckets you have cuz your water will be shut off for who know exactly how long and you might need the water to flush toilets. Also, if you don't have experience with plumbing and are going to install this yourself, consider having everyone in your family take a bath/shower before you begin and don't start the installation on a Sunday as many hardware/plumbing stores close early.
    3. you can now perform the steps in the video

    If you're going to put a bypass into the plumbing, do I still need to use the factory bypass valve. It looks like it comes apart so that I could just put the inlet/outlet npt fitting directly on. This would reduce my plumbing profile.

    Good instructions. I wish there was more detail about installing the brime tank. What is the max distance between the tank and the WS?

    • @Aquasure
      @Aquasure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! Most of the components was preinstalled in the brine tank, so there's only a few things that the installer need to do for the brine tank. In terms of the max distance between the brine tank and the water softener, we don't recommend going over 10ft since the longer the distance of the tube, the more time it may need to draw the water during a system regeneration. We supply 5ft of brine tube by default.

    I'm confused with the drain line. My loop has a copper drain line to connects to my laundry room on the other side of the garage so I bought a 1/2 to 1/2 shark bit connector but the inner diameter of the supplied drain line doesn't fit into the line support of the shark bite fitting. It's smaller than the support but removing the support the outer diameter is smaller than the fitting. Comparing it to some actual 1/2 pex I have lying around the supplied drain line is a bit smaller and the tubing I had lying around doesn't fit the control valve.

    • @BlumpkinSpiceLatte
      @BlumpkinSpiceLatte ปีที่แล้ว

      Its 1/2" OD that they're talking about. 3/8" pex has 1/2" OD, that's what I used. 1/2" pex has 5/8" OD.

    • @onenikkione
      @onenikkione ปีที่แล้ว

      have your water tested for "hardness", many places will do it for no charge or you can goole "water hardness map and enter your zip code. water softeners (like this one) remove the minerals that make water "hard", that test result will determine if you should consider a water softener.

    • @kens962
      @kens962 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you plumbing is like mine, my plumbing company told me the softened water supply only go to bathrooms, kitchen sink, washer dryer, and water heater. You would still continue to periodically replace under sink filters.

  • @jje984
    @jje984 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do yourself a favor and get one inch flex tubes for the inlet and outlet. I tried to do it with a screw on pex adaptor and no matter what I did it leaked. Teflon tape and pipe dope are no match for this connection for whatever reason. Had I started with a flex pipe I would have been done in an hour rather than the 3 freakin days I spent wrestling pex pipe on and off because it kept leaking. I'm stubborn but there's something about the thread taper and plastic material than makes it very hard to get a seal without a gasket to seat.
    I don't quite understand why they want 8 to 12 turns of teflon tape for a flex pipe. Maybe as a secondary failsafe if the gasket fails. But I'm here to tell you that tape isn't going to work though it may slow a leak. These threads don't mate well with teflon tape at all.
