This is a brilliant compilation of documentary clips that link seamlessly making this a legit documentary in its own right. I was blown away (omg - no pun intended) to learn that some bombs being fitted to Navy fighters are actually modular and have to be fitted together individually by a team on the carrier. I wonder if this is for safety, space saving or both?
6:07 well yeah, American carriers also are almost 200 feet longer along with a CATOBAR system and 5 times as many jets so yeah a bigger crew is necessary.
lol in the previous video the captain of the HMS queen Elizabeth said the US carriers don't have munitions elevators like they do which couldn't be further from the truth
Marriages must be tough for ppl in the Navy, especially with 4-6 month deployments. It takes a strong and special kind of lady to endure such long separations and not cheat on their spouces.
What about cv59 Forestall wich had similar accident except they were loading live missiles and lost 167 crew also because they washed AFFF dispersed by sprinklers. AFFF is used to smother fuel fires or class bravo fires. Some of that footage looked quite familiar. So the Enterprise did not really learn much from Cv59. The biggest mistake was taking shortcuts live loading Jets. Eh I might be wrong about the Enterprise but the Forrestal suffered the more. That is why an airmens job is the most dangerous. The same can be said about pilots job. Still being stationed on an aircraft carrier was best experience in my life. Go USN.
HMS QE2 ≠ Nimitz-class/Ford-class size. AKA 65K tons ≠ 100K tons. Every Brit here seems to be so insecure as to constantly compare themselves the USN's supercarriers - that they can do just as much with less. They don't even mention they are using entirely different F-35 than the USN! They are using the STOVL "B", whereas Nimitz/Ford-class (the carriers they like to cite as using much more manpower for the same tasks) use the "C" - which are the largest of the three. So a proper comparison should be done with the light carriers like Wasp-class, which can hold 20 F-35Bs vs their 22 but use a smaller crew, and deploy ground forces element in a Marine MEU! This clearly shows the Royal Navy has never gotten it out of their head they are second-tier naval power now.
Japan Australia and many other nations operating same type of helicopter carriers with ski jump. Its not catapult type carriers, its not nuclear AC. Then how this thing called as super carrier.
Are they joking?? Japan Australia and many other nations operating same type of helicopter carriers with ski jump. Its not catapult type carriers, its not nuclear AC. Then how this thing called as super carrier.
No time to fuel and launch them all, and especially not when every minute you waste clearing the deck is time the Vietnamese pilot doesn't have to try again if he messes up.
a thought, leasing an entire naval task force to a navy for 5 years at a lease cost of €6.5 Bn!!! the naval task force will comprise of a brand new (1 of 3 on order) state-of-the-art 124,000 ton stealth super carrier powered by a combined bio fuel cell & i-HYBRID marine propulsion system!!! 2 fuel i-HYBRID powered 38,350 ton STOL light aircraft carrier!!! also part of the naval task force will be 5 stealth guided missile destroyers, 3 stealth guided missile advanced combat frigates & 4 guided missile multi mission corvettes!!! replenishment support will be provided by the lesse navy's own fleet resources!!!
You've got to be kidding me ! You can risk lives and millions of dollars worth of Military equipment because you can't "shoo away" seagulls with a shotgun !🤣🤣🤣 I can just see it now ! "Hold off on your incoming attack enemy adversary as we're unable to launch defensive weapons due to "seabirds"!

Wow
"An American Carrier of a Similar size would need 3 thousand sailors"
me: I mean American carrier are 40%+ larger..
Yeah the US super carriers can have nearly 100 aircraft. Of course there's gonna be a ton more crew than whats needed to support 20 or so.
@@Justineexy aye wasn't sure of the exact number but I knew it was up close to that.

some of the jets have the USAF star on it

Why were the helicopters pushed off?
During the evacuation of Saigon there was more incoming hardware than there was deck space, so to allow more landings gear was thrown overboard
RN is still using some decommissioned Harriers at their naval air station for practice purpose?
We call it the R2D2 system

I love it how Americans always measure things in football fields and us brits always measure things in London buses :)
Why didn't they just hover or fly the helicopters to allow the Vietnamese plane to land then re land them
