Celicly well the main reason why Bottas got ahead of Vettel was because Vettel lost about 3 seconds behind Sainz... Through the whole traffic phase and pitstop phase Vettel lost about 5 seconds... Sourav Mishra Wow! Nice essay mate! Heheh... Now we 're just waiting for haters to tell you that you are a hypocrite and how a true Vettel fan would never be happy for a Hammilton win. ;)
Sourav Mishra I disagree with the point about Ferrari would have gotten a penalty, because in this case the collision did no harm to vettel, though if vettel would have got damage or anything like that than I would fully understand the decision for a penalty. But in this case there was no harm done, and he got a penalty for the touch with Ricciardo which caused ricciardo to get sidepod damage. But either way an interesting race and a great intense battle for the drivers championship this season.

Yeah but Vettel is faster than Kimi usually. And earlier this year there was a race Kimi was 2nd and Vettel was 3rd and the team did not instruct Kimi to let him pass to gain more points. I'm not saying Kimi isn't used as puppet to help Vettel but it's not as bad as Bottas in my opinion.
Laurynas Petniunas Hamilton is faster then bottas your point is? Ferrari and Mercedes both use them as wingman get over it haven't you watched f1 in the early 2000's 😂😂
Heavenly Air, Renault can watch their market collapse due to bad press the coming years if they continue like this. Sticking it to RBR comes in the form of building a better engine than Honda, and letting RB win consistent podiums. After every race, RB is reminded what they've thrown away and Renault could simply flip them off with pride. Right now, RBR is thrashing Renault in the press and Renault deserves it for having built subpar engines for 5 years in a row.
Hahaha...it surprises me that people still defend Renault... Sure, their collaboration was very successful in the past. Somehow they start to fuck up and instead of improving they start their own team. Red Bull transfers a shitload of money for those engines and the past two years most problems with all ‘Renault-engined’ cars are caused by the engine. Red Bull is a company and not a charity organization...it’s very reasonable to end a partnership when one party fails to deliver. Their reaction to Red Bull’s decision perfectly resonates their crap attitude and engines.
Catholicus Max is doing the same as Alonso, crying about reliability like a baby. Time will tell, but for now, I smell a Mclaren Honda with Redbull badge 2019.
I was looking forward to Vettel putting in 30 flying laps at the end and a great duel between two 4 time champions, but ferrari had to screw it up in the pits.
Feralo 14 I think he didn't do it on purpose, it happened out of his control. Bottas' tires were gone and his front wing was partly broken and he didn't have an enough grip to steer his machine into the corner.
"Bottas' tires were gone and his front wing was partly broken and he didn't have an enough grip to steer his machine into the corner." I don't think it was on purpose however but you'd imagine a professional racing driver would know that these factors result in worse performance (and he also had three laps to get accustomed to the circumstances). I really hope the way he defended and smashing into Ricciardo was a bad judgement call considering he didn't really seem to think to be at fault at the post race interviews I've seen.
Man I swear Bottas went from the guy who always had bad luck example French,Austrian and more grand prix to the Mercedes version of Maldonaldo in this race
gar kein name David Croft. He gets some hate but I like him he's the big F1 nerd in all of us and full of weird facts. Other guy is Martin Brundle, f1 driver in the 80s been commentating since the 90s
They lie about wanting competition you gullible puppet. They were trying so hard to predict a Mercedes win in Bahrain it was laughable (especially from Hamilton) and they always blame Vettel for everything.
Yeah yeah, and FIA also favors Mercedes, so as pirelli so as mother nature, oh and don't forget the official F1 twitter page is Mercedes fan page, also every drivers are Hamilton's wingman, poor Ferrari fighting alone, am I right? Oh yeah, I also saw a tweet about Ferrari themselves helping Mercedes, poor poor Ferrari.
Tim Knobben he had to go out of the way for the faster McLaren to avoid a crash. But than Ricciardo just went some few inches to the left and than Erricson touched him. Just a normal race accident.
Seing Bottas race and him being like a 2.0 Barrichelo but Even worse makes me miss Rosberg so much. But the worst thing is that I actually believe that Bottas has the Talent. I just don‘t get how being a wingman can be satisfying for him.
He lacks the mentality imo. He has a waterboy mentality at the moment... If he doesn't find his ego and drives for himself he will never be a champion...
Thomas Williams Kimi is already a Champion though. And he will most likely retire soon. But Bottas isn‘t eben close to being a Champion and I just don‘t get why you would go so far just to end up as a wingman for your Team.
Yep. Rosberg actually gave a battle to Lewis, but that was only allowed since other teams weren't nearly as close as they are now. So back from 2014-2017 the chamoionships were decided by Rosberg and Hamilton, nobody else. The team could let them fight freely. Now? You see Red Bull and Ferrari winning races and on par with Mercedes. What does Mercedes do? They choose a N°1 driver and resort to old Ferrari tactics. Favoring one driver and screwing the second one as the year goes on. It's disgusting, but Bottas has to stand up and do something about it too. Grow a pair of balls, disobey team orders for one race and drive how you want to drive. Let's see if he can do that.
I didn't hear any team orders (apart from bottas vs dani) but Kimi and Bottas were totally used as rear gunners this race. I am not too pleased with that. Also, Honda can fight!
Nelum Lucere it wasn't that good to be honest, he didn't got that fast to P6 as I tought he would, and got the position from Max and Bottas as a present
Timo Wilms, It's Hungary. You can overtake, but it'll take more time to get to P6. He had a great race and Bottas' position was up for grabs because Ric was so close to him in the end, he made his own luck. Max retiring in front was a totally free position though.
Rick don't get me wrong, he drove a good race, but still in my opinion nothing special. Bottas his tyres were gone, and his front wing. So he got that position kind of for free. In my opinion Gasly was the driver of the day
Well done Hamilton/Mercedes, well done Pierre and Hartley /Toro Rosso Honda, well done Ferrari, we'll done to all you amazing drivers and teams that works so hard.
Two perfect weekends for Lewis.Capitalised every opportunity and scored maximum in the tracks Ferrari had the upper hand. Stellar drive at hokeinheim and almost done the job in Saturday qualifying ..and cruised to victory with a dominant Sunday drive. It involves a lot of talent, good strategy calls from Merc and some luck as well.
What a great race overall. Amazing performances from Gasly and Ricciardo, wonderful job by Magnussen as well to make up for a bad pit stop. The real letdown here was unfortunately Ferrari. Horrible pitstops, Vettel did alright, Raikkonen drove well, but nothing too impressive here. Sad day for Bottas :( That man ain't catching a break any time soon. Yet another engine failure for Max as well, what a shame. If anything, Toro Rosso proved this weekend that the Honda unit can do some work and that it can exceed the Renault unit. Excited for Red Bull in 2019 :D
Bottas endured a lot but he did superbly well to stay in front of Vettel in a quicker car with fresh Ultrasofts despite him on old softs with a slower car... But how did Mercedes thought that Bottas could handle 40laps in front of him.. He lost all his ways, I'm not surprised, he's in fault in both incidents but a lot more with Ricciardo
Glad to see Ferrari at their top form when it comes to strategies or pit stops... Putting Vettel behind Bottas on a hard track to overtake because of a slow pitstop basically cost him the win.
Driver of the day - Valteri Bottas playing ping pong with Seb and Ric, damn I was nervous there I thought he took out Seb, the only exciting with this race is that part ping pong because Ham winning again is boring.
To all the folks who say Lewis should thank Bottas for holding up Vettel: Vettel couldn't pass Bottas who was on worn tires till the end, how can you think Vettel would've passed Lewis who was on much fresher tires compared to Bottas with a huge gap and in a circuit where overtaking is difficult.
was a good little fight with Ric on Mag, we all knew Ric would take him but Mag did well to defend with the car he have, hate it when drivers just let the top car roll past em.
It would be nice to see Ricciardo / Verstappen a Hamilton's team mate, as Hamilon has a lot more pace compared to Bottas on most of the circuits. Then I don't think there will be such a big margin between them and would make racing more interesting.
Stellar drive by Ricciardo, Lewis and Gassly ! Nice gift to Alonso on his 37th birthday. Kimi & Bottas both are getting screwed over by their teams not allowing them to race with their teammates. Verstappen with the bad reliability of their engine is sad robbing us of a brilliant fight.
One DNF each for Vettel and Hamilton and five times the championship lead has changed already. This year is great. I hope retirements don't decide it though.
Bo77as demonstrates a master class in keeping the competition back. The reason Vettel & Ricciardo eventually overtook was because Bo77aases tyres were absolutely shot away, engine malfunctions galore. Any other driver would have given up or spun out. The crash into Ricc was not on purpose, his tyres were f##ked, that car was f##ked, amazing driver !!!!
Driver of the day is Ricciardo and he deserved it for his outstanding driving but it could be also Räikkönen bc he managed to score P3 without a single sip of water at the hottest GP of the season
Pim Maters not a single hint of a lockup the whole race. Man has a lovely feel for the brake pedal for sure. With average at best renault power he needs it too
Alonso is as great this year in Hungary as he was last year, more evidence to support the fact that he is one of the best drivers in the feild despite having a bad car.
Anyone took notice about Gasly's great drive where he was the only one not being lapped at the end without the winner having any problems? I would love to see Gasly and Sainz in the same car and see, who's the faster driver
Atte Markkola Mercedes isn't a team, they're a you do this so you are slow and your teammate wins, we then give you a contract to waste your life. The team has gone to shit since Ross Brawn left, in the Schumacher Rosberg days the team was modest
Aaron Brall not true at all. Look at the last race for example. They let them fight and Bottas had his chance but he failed. So precisly because its a team sport Bottas has to wingman afterwards. He is given chances but he fails. So as the weaker driver you have to do the next best thing to support your team. Besides... We don't see you complaining about Ferrari who do the exact same thing with Sebastian and kimi but worse! Hamilton doesn't ask his team to make Bottas stay in position. Yet that's exactly what vettel asked his Ferrari team.. To not get kimi to pass.... Yet we don't see you complaining about Kimi being vettels wingman you pathetic hypocrite!
Curiously, these "highlights" conveniently leave the part where Sainz drove through 9 blue flags before pulling over to let Vettel by when Vettel was race leader trying to put time in before the pit stop that Bottas was able to overtake him on. That was a major turning point in the race, and rather scrupulous that the FIA did nothing about that, to the aid of Mercedes/Hamilton.

So summer break is up, take care of yourself ladies and gents.
Best tip for not getting bored? Watch the old races.
Constructive criticism is accepted!
See ya after a month!
Cheers homies 🍻
Sourav Mishra Wow! Nice essay mate! Heheh... Now we 're just waiting for haters to tell you
that you are a hypocrite and how a true Vettel fan would never be happy for a Hammilton win. ;)
Sourav Mishra This isn’t a one sides comment just telling the truth. At least some people are equal
Wow. Incredible comment
11 does not exist.
If Bottas did to Vettel the same he did to Ricciardo, the best radio of the race would be "HONESTLY! WHAT ARE WE DOING: RACING OR PING-PONG?"
Luiz Felipe Man or*
Not funny anymore...
If vettel did the same to bottas, he d get a time penalty
CrUsHoR yeah it is
Luiz Felipe Man ,
Interesting tactics by Mercedes?
A great day for Gasly and Torro Rosso.
Redge
Who is Gasley?
Chris Valeske corrected.

Good boy 🐶
just kidding
Toro Rosso.... In italian It means Red bull obviusly. Only one R
we should be saying thank you f1 every day for having the best comentators in the world david and martin you are the best keep It going I love you guys
idk if anyone noticed but im thankful to the channel for putting up the race standings graphic at the end of the highlights. i know im reaching here but if championship standings can also be shown , all of us subscribers would be extremely grateful.
i love the content on this channel and i really appreciate the establishment for putting up the highlights so we can revisit each and every race whenever we want and relive those moments.
A heartfelt Thank You
Where is the "We have the best fans in the world" sentence?
He hasn't said that since 2016.
Cletus Spuckler
Wtf Lewis said it every single race he won in 2017
Lol how can rosberg have fans?
NextKaretus in the 2016 all Rosberg fans were all f1 fans except hamilton fans so...
Xx Agel_42 xX
So disrespetful from Totto to say Bottas is Hamilton's wingman... but no surprise really.
Kimi is Vettel‘s wingman and barichello was schumacher‘s wingman .... so
like ferrari treat kimi any differently lol.
KING slayer I know. But I'm not talking about the past. Only present.
Never thought I'd say this but I'm looking forward to Red Bull switching to Honda engines next year, Renault has been unbelievably unreliable.
still better then honda yesteryear by miles...
Yes
GP Oostenrijk: Ricciardo OUT
GP Silverstone: Verstappen OUT
GP Hockenheim: Ricciardo OUT
GP Hongarije: Verstappen OUT
4 in a row!
Tom DL
GP Spa: Ricciardo OUT
Honestly...screw RedBull...
Now Italy
This is why Red Bull Wants Honda.
121bham they are for redbull, also please write normally
121bham wtf does that even mean??
Rbr got gp2 engine now.
Catholicus They supplied shit engines for China and Monaco too, right?
Catholicus Max is doing the same as Alonso, crying about reliability like a baby.
Time will tell, but for now, I smell a Mclaren Honda with Redbull badge 2019.
Those Renault Engines are the biggest dissapointment of the season so far.
not to ferrari fans, vettel takes that one
So no one is going to talk about torro rosso and driver of the day Pierre Gasly?
Brilliant performance by Gasly!
I was looking forward to Vettel putting in 30 flying laps at the end and a great duel between two 4 time champions, but ferrari had to screw it up in the pits.
Watching it now in 2019 :
Renault engine are still the same
Ferrari still suck in the pits
Maldonado of the Grosjean: Bottas
It was boring to watch Ferrari following until the last final few laps which were quite interesting
and the commentators curse though
Trump should hire bottas to help him build a wall
yes BLOCK_ASS
SHOTS FIRED BOOM BOOM
Or lewis
Now he's the one to destroy the wall
He fired Bottas and just hired Helmut Marco
I don't understand why Bottas did that. His wing was damaged and it was impossible to hold Riccardo behind him. It's a bit silly... 😧
It was last lap of course he was gonna try as it is near impossible to pass on the rest of the track
Feralo 14 I think he didn't do it on purpose, it happened out of his control. Bottas' tires were gone and his front wing was partly broken and he didn't have an enough grip to steer his machine into the corner.
Koba Kobayashi true
Koba Kobayashi I agree
"Bottas' tires were gone and his front wing was partly broken and he didn't have an enough grip to steer his machine into the corner."
I don't think it was on purpose however but you'd imagine a professional racing driver would know that these factors result in worse performance (and he also had three laps to get accustomed to the circumstances).
Yep
The best part of the weekend was Kimi's son with ice cream 😂😂
I like the commentator
at least emotions and not the boring german commentary
Keisuke Takahasi or channel 4
gar kein name David Croft. He gets some hate but I like him he's the big F1 nerd in all of us and full of weird facts. Other guy is Martin Brundle, f1 driver in the 80s been commentating since the 90s
agreed rtl has some of the worst commentary they straight up dub right over live team radio's
Crofty and Burdle. great duo
Just rename Sky England into Mercedes F1 TV!
121bham because they are horribly and obviously biased towards Hamilton and Mercedes
argee on that.
Herr Timjamin You realise that Sky is a BRITISH broadcaster so of course they might be biased towars Hamilton.
I love these episodes and I hope you read the comments. Please add standings year-to-date in points at the end.
Interesting tactics.
- L. Hamilton, 2018
1:05 Definitely Ericsson's fault
Tim Knobben man you got it
Tim Knobben he had to go out of the way for the faster McLaren to avoid a crash. But than Ricciardo just went some few inches to the left and than Erricson touched him. Just a normal race accident.
Matthias Borremans well yes, obviously, but this is a YOKE
At this point red bull are the mclaren honda of this year.
Kwabena Sampene nah, McLaren Renault is still the McLaren Honda of the year :D
Xx Agel_42 xX retirements 2018= red bull=8 mclaren=6
I hope Honda engine will be better next year 😅
Hamilton won the hungarian gp, which means he will lose the championship:)
Jens Pedersen keep wishing
PSN GT3 Club well since 2004 that has been the case every year.
Jens Pedersen Lets hope the Hungarian curse will still Exist.
Jens Pedersen FINALLY!
Jens Pedersen except 2015 right?
Poor Vandoorne he did a great job with finaly an ok car.
Stellar drive from Lewis, complete focus, no mistakes and fully controlled the race. What Lewis does best!
Ricciardo did a fantastic overtake on Bottas in final lap😁
History repeats itself. He overtook Bottas in the final lap in Formula Renault back in 2008.
Max’s reaction had me dying
Seing Bottas race and him being like a 2.0 Barrichelo but Even worse makes me miss Rosberg so much. But the worst thing is that I actually believe that Bottas has the Talent. I just don‘t get how being a wingman can be satisfying for him.
He lacks the mentality imo. He has a waterboy mentality at the moment... If he doesn't find his ego and drives for himself he will never be a champion...
kimi doesn't speak out either.
Thomas Williams Kimi is already a Champion though. And he will most likely retire soon. But Bottas isn‘t eben close to being a Champion and I just don‘t get why you would go so far just to end up as a wingman for your Team.
Bottas is actually quicker than Lewis imo... yeah now that hate is going to come haha
What a fantastic race
I didn't hear any team orders (apart from bottas vs dani) but Kimi and Bottas were totally used as rear gunners this race. I am not too pleased with that.
Also, Honda can fight!
How to entertain yourself on a boring race.
Watch Daniel Ricciardo race
1 month without F1 :(
Antonio Padrón :(
Two perfect weekends for Lewis.Capitalised every opportunity and scored maximum in the tracks Ferrari had the upper hand. Stellar drive at hokeinheim and almost done the job in Saturday qualifying ..and cruised to victory with a dominant Sunday drive. It involves a lot of talent, good strategy calls from Merc and some luck as well.
Ricciardo overtaking=premium
Frederick X.great race? Quiete boring without overtaking....
KIMI RAIKKONEN, KIMI RAIKKONEN!
I was there! After 2:44 everyone near me started screaming and swearing 😂
who saw the fact that vettel was 23sec behind hamilton and for 3 laps he went to 17 sec what a speed master
Mercedes crashing into Red Bull's sidepods since 2018
To all the folks who say Lewis should thank Bottas for holding up Vettel:
Vettel couldn't pass Bottas who was on worn tires till the end, how can you think Vettel would've passed Lewis who was on much fresher tires compared to Bottas with a huge gap and in a circuit where overtaking is difficult.
was a good little fight with Ric on Mag, we all knew Ric would take him but Mag did well to defend with the car he have, hate it when drivers just let the top car roll past em.
I just realised that Bottas really like to hit Red Bull at turn 1
Happy birthday Fernando
It would be nice to see Ricciardo / Verstappen a Hamilton's team mate, as Hamilon has a lot more pace compared to Bottas on most of the circuits. Then I don't think there will be such a big margin between them and would make racing more interesting.
You wouldn’t find a more suitable commentator for f1 than this guy !!!!
This was the most frustrating race to watch as a RB fan...
I think Renault is just punishing Red Bull for going to VTEC (yo). Remember, Cyril said they would make them regret this decision.
Ben Ward why would they ruin their reputation to take a few points off red bull
If they’d care about their reputation Renault would’ve been creating some decent fucking engines since last years season, not?
It's literally fucking rocket science. plus ferarri/mercedes have 5x the budget.
If they cared, they would be making killer engines to show what Red Bull are gonna miss out on.
Colm Mcneill they did it to toro rosso last year
riccardo , was pushing that red bull and bottas knocked the guy to save Mercedes and Ferrari.
let the bull through.
RIC- I'll overtake this haas easy
:HASS-MAG Hold my pace
One DNF each for Vettel and Hamilton and five times the championship lead has changed already. This year is great. I hope retirements don't decide it though.
In this race hamilton said should he slow down, give them eight v8 engines per season and you will see more overtaking
Good for Max for finally saying what everyone is thinking, that Renault engine is an absolute joke this year
Max is right. Renault engines are shite
Can't the highlights be a little bit longer. Like the overtakes from ricciardo before the battle with magnussen? Those divebombs were beautiful!
Pim Maters not a single hint of a lockup the whole race.
Man has a lovely feel for the brake pedal for sure.
With average at best renault power he needs it too
Hammer Time 👑 👑 👑
Bottas was terrible, he will never challenge Hamilton for the title. I guess that's why Mercedes re-signed him.
Gen X he's not a WClass driver for some Wins in the saison ok! but not a bad ass, for battle for titel!
Bottas really helped Hamilton so much this race, he held up the Ferrari’s so much.
Good job Valteri .
Bottas will always be a wing man. Right now he's a wing nut.
nathan Pritchard maybe in mercedes
Yet we don't see you complaining about Kimi being vettels wingman you pathetic hypocrite!
kevin paul halliday you freaking nailed it.
The Legend 30 he is good driver... definitely better than Bottas...
Toro Rosso!!!
The ending part of the race was awesome !
