i wore this watch during my school years (1994-2000) but i didn't knew about this trick. i just ordered one on amazon after watching this video just to seize my nostalgia thanks
Haha, same here. I was given a silver F91W (metal strap) on my 12th birthday in 1992. Personally i found it to be really durable, and even using the light quite alot the battery lasted ages.
Well I can now sleep soundly knowing that my Casio F-105 I got from Wal-Mart for $19 appears to be genuine. I didn't think it really mattered since it says Made in Thailand instead of Japan on the back.
What about country of manufacture? My current one is the same model you show, has the green back-light and the tiny "U" in the bottom right corner is only visible via magnifying glass. However, it says on the back cover "made in thailand". I would've thought if it were genuine, it should have made in japan instead. Would that be right? TBH IDK.
If it says 'U' on the front it's from Thailand or China, those can be legit. If it says 'Japan' where the 'U' normally is it's from Japan. All 3 places produce legit Casio's. No guarantees though. It's not common to find a real Japanese one though. They probably only sell those in Japan or they quit making them there to cut costs.
Yeah they make pink, green, light blue, orange. And they make them with black strap, Grey/Silver and Gold-ish case. And they make them in black with green details or gold details + gold buttons + slightly different gold-ish screen background. You can even see the versions I just mentioned on the official website. It's a 1 minute google job to find out those cán be real. If you see a white one or dark blue or red (or any other colors not mentioned before) it's a really crappy fake usually. Those often come with Disco lights too.
The display on the fake casio is much worst in real life. I would say twice as bad. It's much darker than what you are seeing right now. Also the rubber band has a funny smell to it. I don't know what it's made from. I would not recommend, get the original.
I actually think using the "u" to spot a fake is a bit out of date. Just bought one and it didn't have a "u" on it so i was concerned. But having checked the official Casio site and zooming in on the image they don't appear to have them anymore.
... Who isn't xD I wouldn't buy mine on E-bay unless it comes in a box or a blue Casio baggie that is still sealed. If it's just with tags it's probably fake.

@@nastybird4589 No, it's not, it's unisex and often reported as "for men", but it's a little bit smaller indeed. Anyway the F91 is 30mt wr, to be honest if you're careful not to press any button you can be sure quite enough that it won't break if you use it in the shower or even swimming as long as you don't go too deep. It is really the best for the bucks tho, I love watches and there's no doubt that at this price point (or double that) you can't find anything better.
It matters if you buy a fake and it doesn't keep time, yes. The Casio is a reliable watch cheap with a long lifespan. Osama Bin Laden even had one because the battery lasts ten years and keeps perfect time, but isn't ostentatious. The fake loses a minute a day then breaks in a few months. That's no use when you are in a cave trying to orchastrate 9/11.
There is a veeeeeery minor shade on the real ones. I can see it when I point my flashligh on it. It's the LCD elements that are not on. There's a very very small space between the Filter on the front and those elements in the back. But you really have to look for them. It's nothing like the shade in this video.
I actually think using the "u" to spot a fake is a bit out of date. Just bought one and it didn't have a "u" on it so i was concerned. But having checked the official Casio site and zooming in on the image they don't appear to have them anymore.
Mine is bought from a trusted retailer, it's made in China and has the small 'u'. You can also check out the clip of the wristband, it says the origin of the country in small letters. If it's Malaysia it's legit as well. I do agree with you Chris Bush, the u would be easy to fake. In fact the whole watch would be. Guess we'll never really know because Casio doesnt give any info on offical sales. So what you're getting is the same watches but difference in quality depending from which country it's imported. That's the case with most consumer products these days sadly ... Anyway, have fun with the watch, it'll grow on you, I personally can't miss the watch anymore eventhough I have several laying around I always get back to the trusty F-91W :) The wristband really sucks though.
It says U if it's from China or Thailand, it says Japan on the same spot if it's from Japan. I just noticed too that it doens't say U on the official pic, but I can't find actual examples of Casio's in the wild that aren't fake that don't have the U.
2:00 haha that is an upgrade in my opinion!
UniRunner that's probably how you change the color of the backlight!
even without a box or manual it doesn't mean its "fake" some dealers didn't give that by checking and analyzing you can tell that.
I like the light on the fake one
had a cheap casio for ten years, never changed the battery, still spot on time, more accurate than a $50,00 dollar rolex automatic.
i mean, automatic watches arent mean to be accurate, but yeah its a great watch

Backlight on the fake is better. Much brighter. On the real one its too low.

Hahaha I love that party backlight.
Almost fell on the floor from laughter when i saw that strobe light LED
-TNB- 😂
Interesting, I had no idea there was a tiny letter "u" on the bottom right side.
My chemistry teacher has a genuine one from the 1980's. It's been worn so much that the "WR" letters are discoloured.
Nothing better than an old friend that keeps on keeping on.
Well I can now sleep soundly knowing that my Casio F-105 I got from Wal-Mart for $19 appears to be genuine. I didn't think it really mattered since it says Made in Thailand instead of Japan on the back.
So made in Thailand means original?
The F105 is a pretty good upgrade from the 91. Got one myself. Love the backlight.
Casio F91W =I love you
that fake backlight looks fun...
Exactly, the backlight is 😂

I can’t hear you......What’s the deal with the subtitles?
What about the grey, orange, green, pink, etc versions? Does Casio really make those varieties or are they fake?
Fake, the F-91W is only in black with black rubber strap.
They make this:

Yeah they make pink, green, light blue, orange.

Excellent. You just saved me $40

the pic on the casio site does not show the U,,first time i have seen this,Maybe just the pic itself ?
The buttons on a genuine Casio are not magnetic, you can remove a screw again not magnetic on a genuine Casio.
Salve vorrei sapere tra il falso e l'originale oltre a esserci una notevole differenza di prezzo...quali rischi ci possono essere ?
Why would someone fake a $10 watch??
They sell millions a year and you can make fakes for about a dollar a piece, that's why.
Really doesn't make sense does it?
Who is the seller of the fake ones?
... Who isn't xD I wouldn't buy mine on E-bay unless it comes in a box or a blue Casio baggie that is still sealed. If it's just with tags it's probably fake.
People fake a fucking 5 dollar shit casio watch??? Really, why would u bother. A rolex or tissot I can understand trying to fake!
If you hold the alarm button for 3 seconds at the fake you, it displays "casio"?
Fakes now display Casio too...
Fake disco version
El mío es hecho en y me costó $5 dólares y tiene la 👍👍👍👍
Fake a $10 watch? LOL!
They sell millions a year... So definitely worth the effort.
The fake ones sell here for less than a dollar
2:05 I thought it's a bomb lol
I bought original f91w from amazon for Rs895.
There's one more difference, the fake doesn't have CASIO written on the buckle. You can see in this video itself.
Take the back off.

For a 12 dollar watch....does it really matter?? Lol
